6 Ways To MANIFEST Success & Riches (MONEY WILL FLOW LIKE CRAZY!) | Lewis Howes

In this extensive interview, Lewis Howes converses with Bob Proctor (and other thought leaders) about how to thrive during economic downturns by building a powerful personal brand and multiple income streams. They discuss the "need‑ability‑replaceability" formula that determines earning potential, the importance of serving others rather than chasing money, and how belief systems about scarcity versus abundance shape financial reality. Proctor shares his own journey from extreme poverty to multimillion‑dollar success, emphasizing the role of daily affirmations, disciplined morning routines, and meditation practices (including Soma Dome pods) in rewiring the brain. The conversation moves into the concept of the quantum field, brain‑wave coherence, and heart‑centered intention as a way to attract wealth without chasing it. They also cover practical skills for value creation, the value of modeling successful mentors, and the physiological impact of stress versus coherent states. Throughout, the dialogue blends personal anecdotes, concrete strategies, and philosophical insights to provide a roadmap for creating wealth, freedom, and a holistic sense of abundance.

Well, the earning of money is an exact science and it's governed by law. The amount of money you earn is in direct ratio to the need for what you do, your ability to do it, and the difficulty there is in replacing you. You can earn an awful lot of money because there's a tremendous need for a person that does what I do. I've traveled all over the world, From Shanghai to Buenos Aires to all over Europe, Asia, everywhere. Everywhere they need what I've got. There's a tremendous need. I can earn more money than a neurosurgeon. Now, everybody has a brain, but not everybody needs it operated on.
They need it operated in a different way.
Yeah.
The way you do it.
It's the need for what you do. then your ability to do it. So if a person, if there's a great need for what a person doing, then they've got to get really good at it. So you never stop getting better at it. You're good at what you do. And I don't mean to flatter you. You are just good at it. I watched you do it.
Thank you.
And you do it like I was mentioning, you're sort of the well, you're much the same as drawing a blank on his name.
Larry King.
Larry King, yeah. Because Larry was a master. Larry never talked about Larry. He never, it was all about you. You never heard him say, I. It was always about, you know, interviewing the person. So, there was a great need for what he did. He was entertaining a lot of people. His ability to do it, he was very good at it, so he was very difficult to replace. Now, when you're difficult to replace, your stock goes up.
Yeah.
We've learned, we've got to learn how to earn money. and most people don't know how to earn money. Most people think you go to work to earn money. You know, I was in a seminar in Phoenix, probably a couple of years ago now, and this guy came over and talked to me. I knew him, not well, but I knew him. And he was a doctor, and he told me he was thinking of quitting. I said, why are you going to quit? Well, he said, the medical profession is all messed up now. He said, you, got to put in more time to earn less money. I said, well, that's true. But I said, why'd you become a doctor? He said, I love it. The fact that you're earning any money is a plus. You don't go to work for money, you go to work for satisfaction. There's two rewards in life. One is material and the other is psychic. we shouldn't work for money. We should work for satisfaction. You provide service to earn money. Take some recording stars.
I got.
They earn millions on a recording. But look at the millions of people that are being entertained. Construction workers, air flight attendance, restaurants. There's the music's playing. entertaining all the people that can hear that music. So they're entertaining all the people. And that's where it's coming. You see, you do what you work at what you love to do and you'll get tremendous satisfaction. Like I love what I'm doing. I would do it for nothing if I had to. I just love it. I really love it. And so the fact that I love it, Why would I want to do anything else? That's what I said to him. You get satisfaction from what you're doing, what you love to do. So every day when I get up, go to work, I'm doing what I love doing. You provide service to earn money. I have all kinds of stuff that we have, stuff that we sell, programs that we're selling. Somebody buying them now, I don't know who they are or where they are, but I'm earning money right now while we're talking. And when I go to bed tonight, I'll be earning money and I'll earn it all night. And I like that idea, you know, because we're providing service. So I think we have to get the money straight in our mind, and I don't think most people have it straight. If you, and if people don't, you're mentioning if a person didn't like to talk about it, they have a problem with it.
So start talking about it more.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
If there's somebody that. That you're around a partner, an associate or something, and they really don't want to talk about money, you. I think there's a problem there.
Yeah.
If someone came to you and.
Has.
Struggled with money their entire life, whether they're in their early 20s or they're in their 40s or 50s, and they asked you, Bob, what do I need to do to make my first million dollars? What would you say are the most important things they should think and act on next?
Well first of all, they've got to believe that they can earn the million dollars. They've got to develop a belief system. Our belief system is based upon our evaluation of something. And frequently, if we reevaluate the situation, our belief about it will change. We've got to understand that money is easy to earn. I work with our sales staff all the time helping them learn how to earn more money. I work with members of our staff, different members of our staff, helping them develop the desire to earn more money, and then I show them how they can do it.
And.
How do we believe if we've never seen evidence before or gotten results before of earning it?
Yeah, it's through the repetition of it, through the repetition of writing it and believing it. I had an affirmation that I used for years, still use it. I'm so happy and grateful now that money comes to me in increasing quantities through multiple sources on a continuous basis. I am so happy and grateful now that money comes to me in increasing quantities through multiple sources on a continuous basis. I just keep repeating that like a mantra. And you write out, you know, I'm so happy and grateful now that I have my possession a million dollars. And that's where you started out intellectually, then you get emotionally involved. And if you keep doing that, ultimately you're going to attract the money. Now you've got to ask, how can money be earned? Money can be earned in all kinds of different ways. We have a company, MSI Connect. It's a pet of mine, not my partner's. I don't think she's too loved with it. but I think it's a neat company. MSI is multiple sources of income, connect, and there's a lot of people there and they connect with each other. And they set up joint ventures with each other. They set up affiliate things with each other. You can buy different things there. People sell stuff there. They study money there. you've got to get into an environment where money is talked about, where it's understood.
You know, it's interesting you say that because for years, I have studied money at different levels and those levels of studying have gotten me to those results. But I've never been able to really, you know, but there's always a cap. and you've got to learn something new in order to break through that cap into a new level. And I've never really understood the stock market. I've always just invested in certain things and allowed them to just work on their own. But I've never actually taken full ownership of learning it myself. I've always had a financial advisor and things like that. And now I said, you know what? I just want to understand the stock market. I want to learn it 'cause I don't know. I'm still uneducated. I don't even know how to buy a, I bought my first stock like a few months ago myself. I've invested in stocks and index funds, but I've actually learned how to do it myself. And I was like, I need to find the best people that are doing this and learn from them and have conversations with them. And it's been amazing in a short amount of time by surrounding myself with people that are doing at an astronomical level, just by having a couple of conversations, taking the risk and doing it myself and trying it and learn and fumbling around having no clue what I'm doing. I'm already seeing growth in a couple of months. But if I didn't have the awareness to ask those questions and surround myself with that knowledge and then apply it and continue to learn from it, I'd still be stuck to where I was before. And so I think that's what we need to. I love the way you talk about the environment, about constantly being curious, asking these questions and having the conversations, because It doesn't matter how successful we are, we'll be stuck to a level of our past knowing until we break through and find a new knowing. I'm curious, for those who want to learn the millionaire morning routine, they want to master this, they want to learn what do those millionaires and billionaires do with their morning routine. You've already shared a few things that you do. What would it look like if you had 90 minutes in the morning to set yourself up to reprogram your money mindset.
Well, I don't think it would take you 90 minutes. You could spend. Oh, God, nine minutes. If you just write down. Write it. Write this down right now. I am so happy and grateful. I am so happy and grateful. Now that I have multiple sources of income. I am so happy and grateful now that I have multiple sources of income. You know, if you write that out every day, for the next 30, 60 days, you're going to become very, very aware of having multiple sources of income. Wealthy people all have multiple sources. They don't have one or two. They have a whole bunch of them. I don't know how many sources of income I've got. I'm not even interested in figuring it out because somebody else looks after that. I don't look after it. But I do know that you can do that. that's what Keith did it down in New Orleans. God, he just, his life changed so dramatically. And I'll show you different things you can do because anyone can. You want to set up multiple sources of income. Do you know, I was flying on a plane to KL. I used to fly Toronto to KL once a month and back. It's 25 hours near one way. Wow. When I'm in the air, I either work with names, words or numbers. And I wrote down one with six zeros. And I thought, what is the big deal about a million? You know, you often hear people say, what would you do if you had a million? If you won a million?
And.
I get thinking about it. and I played with that on the plane for quite a while and it dawned on me they do not have one source of income. They don't have a job. Now some people have a job, earn a million dollars, but that's the unusual one. And then I got playing with it further and I broke it down, they'd have more than one and then I got it multiple and then MSI. Well, then I got thinking, we should run a seminar, teach people to earn a million dollars by setting up multiple sources of income. And when I got off the plane, I phoned Mark Victor Hansen down in Newport Beach. I was in KL. I woke him up in the middle of the night. And I got talking, he says, great idea. So we started the Million Dollar Forum. And he got involved, and Bernie Dorman, who's just passed away, and Jack Canfield and Lee Pulos, in fact, that's where the Chicken Soup for the Soul books came from, from that particular seminar. And we were teaching people to set up multiple sources of income. Well, they earned many millions from that, but that's where that started. And you are in a beautiful position to set up all kinds of sources of income. So when you think of wealth, you know, you might only earn 10 or 15,000 from one source, you might earn 200, 300,000 from another. But you have a lot of them.
Right.
And that's where you'll earn wealth. Like I don't invest in the stock market. My wife's have bought stocks, Sandy buys stocks, I think. I just don't pay attention to it. It's not, it doesn't interest me. I'd rather earn it by thinking, putting an idea to work than let the stock market do it for me. That doesn't excite me. I'd rather sit here and think of, I sat here for another hour after we got off. I could think of a way of creating a source of income.
What do you think are three skills everyone should learn in order to generate more wealth and generate more income for themselves or just to improve the quality of their life in general? What are those three skills you wish everyone one could master.
We've got to be fairly creative. You've got to have a free flow of energy. Energy has to flow through. You can't be stubborn. You can't lock in on something and not want to let go of it. You've got to have a free flow. You've got to be interested in ideas, new ideas. I, I, you were talking about not wanting to watch television. I don't watch much. I love watching Shark Tank, though.
Yes. Great. And I like Kevin O'Leary yesterday. Yeah, he's great.
Well, well, they were. You worked with him yesterday, did you say?
I just had Kevin O'Leary on yesterday.
Yeah. Well, you see now, that guy's mind, it's amazing the way it works.
Yeah.
But you watch all of them, all those sharks. their mind, it works like a rocket, you know, and they break things down, somebody will say something, they break all kinds of things down from what the one thing the person will say. They are very, very sharp, every one of them, and Kevin is certainly one of the sharp ones on there, but they all are, you know, I don't know if there's one any sharper than the other, but they've got a very free flow of ideas. Yeah.
So flow of energy, free flow, interested in new ideas, what's another- I think.
You have to be service oriented. You really have to be thinking of how to do things for people, how to help people. Because money is a reward received for service rendered.
Yeah.
It's hard to help others when you're always consumed with the negativity in your own life.
Oh, wow.
I mean, that's the mentality.
That's why poor people remain poor. They're so locked into their problems. But if you, if a person is like that, let's suppose they're really locked in on problems. But they hear what I've just said. They really got to think of serving others. How can I serve others? How can I be of greater service? you're going to figure it out. Discipline yourself for let's say 30, 60, 90 minutes a day sitting down and thinking of writing down 10 ideas that could be of service to other people. And you probably won't get very good ones for the first little while, but if you keep doing it, they'll keep coming.
Absolutely. Or you'll try stuff in the beginning and you'll learn something from those efforts and you'll realize how to make them better. And you, you, maybe, maybe don't stick with them. When I started, I was like doing stuff, just hustling around, trying to figure it out and you realize what doesn't work for you until you realize what does work. What's something else you recommend doing in the morning routine? I know you mentioned writing down this sentence every day. I am so happy and grateful that now I have multiple sources of income. What other things would you recommend for people to develop that Millionaire mindset in the morning.
Get books on money. You too can be prosperous is one. That was the one by Robert Russell. You too can be prosperous. Think and grow rich. Who else have I got there? The master key to riches. by Napoleon Hill. Get reading these books. Get a partner to read them with. The partner doesn't have to be somebody you're living with. Could be someone on the other side of the country.
Why is that important to have a partner reading with you?
Well you usually will do it.
And.
If you take, here's a great book, Power of Awareness. Now, when you look at this, it's got a red band across the bottom. The Power of Awareness, you'll find it without this red band, don't get that, this is the one. This has also included a weakened imagination, Power of Awareness by Neville. This is a phenomenal book. This is going to expand the mind. Then get into Master Key on riches. You too can be prosperous and think and grow rich.
Was there ever a moment where you didn't unconditionally love yourself? And if so, when did that shift where you stopped that and you started saying, okay, I appreciate myself because of my contribution and my service and who I am.
What was that shift?
I don't think it was ever I.
Just didn't love myself. There were times obviously, be angry with yourself or frustrated with yourself or think, I'm not doing enough. I can remember my birthdays, to be honest with you, probably up until my 40th birthday, including my 40th birthday, you have a birthday with a zero on it once you're over past 30, 35, sometimes five years on it as well. People look at their life differently. and I used to think it was bull, but sure enough I would do it. I remember turning 40 and I was really, really unhappy. I was like, Jesus, I've not done enough, I've not helped enough people. I'd help tens of millions of people at that point already, all over the earth in 100 plus countries at that point, but it was still kind of stuck in my head. So I would earn the love by over-delivering, change somebody's life. I don't get it because somebody says, oh, I love you, Tony. I mean, I appreciate that, or, oh, you're the greatest. It's got to be my standard. My standard is higher than their standard for me. So when I get up and someone's going to kill themselves and they're suicidal and boom, turn around and they're no longer not going to kill themselves, but they're transformed, their life is there, that's when I go, okay, now we've hit the center of what I'm made for. Now, I deserve to feel this euphoric feeling within myself and appreciation. And even then, I still know it's God coming through me. I don't have the delusion it's just me. But I think sometime after 40, I finally saw the stupidity of it. I accumulated enough that I looked at life with fresh eyes. And I can say by the time I turned 60 a year ago, I noticed it was interesting because my birthday, I didn't have an ounce of it. I was just like, you know, how could I at this stage of my life when I've had the privilege of serving so many humans in so many contexts, you know, from turning around, you know, guys are going to kill themselves with PTSD to helping kids turn around, to getting kids off cocaine or adults to, you know, helping people build multi-billion dollar businesses from nothing. And when I lived this long, I can't go by without hearing half a dozen stories a day or a dozen stories a day from people telling me how something I did changed their life. So it's not that I'm so smart now, it's just I've stacked it. By the way, though, stacking is the way you can do things. Most of us stack the negative. If you are really angry, it's not usually because of just the moment. It's that it happened again. You know, it's like if you've ever lost it or overreacted to your kid or to a friend or a business or even within yourself, it's because it happened again. We hit this one, two, three, many point and then our nervous system overreacts. But what I've learned is you can stack the good. And, for example, if you're, if you go into a state of really strong anger for more than five minutes, your immune system is suppressed between an hour and a half to two hours. That's a physiological fact. But no one had done any study, I started stacking good, like okay, let me stack a dozen great memories, feel them, see them, experience them. And I felt this biochemical change that didn't just last a half hour, an hour, or 10 minutes, it went on for a day or two. And so I think I've learned to stack the good. So just having the experience is not enough. You got to stack the good to be able to appreciate it. But I think the more you find Unconditional love for others, the easier it is to find in yourself. And I think the focus is serving and loving, and that's what will get you to the point where you start doing it. But if you want to speed it up, stack all the good you've done.
You'Ll feel great about yourself. I already know all the comments that have come through, thousands of comments telling me, but what about my family that's toxic? What about my partner who is toxic? And how do I love someone unconditionally when they don't respect me? I can't trust them. What about situations like that?
All those reactions are natural human reactions from ego. Because it's all about you, me, me, me, what I'm not getting, what I'm not doing, and that's why you're in pain. But I've done it too in the past, but it's an old pattern I don't really do anymore, and it used to affect me. Now, not a dominant one I wouldn't have become who I become. Early in my life, I developed this belief that life is calling not to give me something, life is calling for me to deliver things, for me to bring something to life. And I felt the joy that came from not getting but giving. And I got hooked on that core pattern and then the pattern of learning so I'd have something to give, which I know one of the things I respect about you, Louis, is that you have that same pattern in you. You're always trying to learn more because underneath it all, you also want to give it. You want it for you, but you want to share it, right? And so those patterns help me. not be and what they're not giving me. And all this language, language, today people don't understand the power of their language, like toxic. You've been reading too much social media and thinking about yourself or somebody raised you to constantly judge everybody else. We live in a culture now where people, you know, you're evil or you're like me. That's basically how it is, right? The whole world, everybody else is immoral unless they do what you do, think what you think, experience what you think. I mean, being a liberal, I was a liberal, right? Being a liberal growing up meant, I would fight for your ability to say and believe whatever you want different than me. Today, now everybody wants everybody to think the same thing, otherwise they're evil or otherwise they could hurt me. Whatever happens sticks and stones will break your bones, words will never hurt me. We have this whole thing that words are evil, words are action, and all it does is make you incredibly weak as a human being, and you're more than that. We all are more than that. But you know what? Like a kid that's never broken their bones, deathly afraid of breaking the bone. But if you're a kid and you're rough and tumble, you broke multiple bones and they heal, you don't have any fear of it. There's so many kids that have been raised to be safe and secure every moment. Anything that's insecure or unsafe, they don't want to be a part of, including language. And what it does is make you incredibly weak and fearful. And that's why there's so many people that are abundant, that are angry all the time. 'Cause they're angry 'cause they're not growing. So don't get me wrong, I know some people are not a good influence. I'm not denying that. I'm just saying you're more than somebody's influence unless you obsess about it every moment and make them wrong so you can make yourself feel superior morally, psychologically or spiritually. Stop the pattern. We've all done it. Catch yourself. 'Cause if you want joy, happiness and freedom in an extraordinary life, you will not come from blame. Never. There's no pride that comes from blame. Pride is something you earn. People tell me, oh, I have no self-esteem because my parents used to say this or they'd say that. Self-esteem does not come from what people say about you. Self-esteem comes from what you experience about yourself. See, someone can tell your whole life you're a piece of crap and a part of you can go, you,'re full of it. I'm going to show you. Lots of people have done that. They never bought it. Or someone tell you, you,'re beautiful your whole life. You go, I'm not really beautiful. so what people tell you doesn't matter at all. It's what you stack, it's what you assemble, it's what you create, it's the habit of what you put in your head. And today I don't blame you because we got a whole culture that's always blaming somebody else for something in their life. But blame is not a strategy for Pride. That's why you listen to these blaming people. They're all angry all the time. Listen, if I wanted to blame, I grew up in an environment. I didn't even share it to my mom past. And even then I didn't share. I grew up in pretty rough environment. My mom was a beautiful soul, but when she drank alcohol and she mixed it with prescription drugs, it was a different creature and it was a violent creature. And I have a younger brother five years younger and a younger sister seven years younger. And my mom would get nuts and I didn't want them to get hurt. So I was 5'1 in high school. She grabbed me by the hair and smashed me against the wall till I bled. Now I never shared this and I'm not denigrating her in any way. I only shared it like four or five years after she died, because I was talking to a group of kids in New York City, all without fathers, 80% African-American, about 20% Hispanic out of their group, roughly, no white kids. And I'm talking about your biography is not your destiny. And it doesn't matter what you've been through. What you decide now is what's going to control your life. What you decide each day going forward is going to decide your life. And I look at them, seeing me, I can read their minds. this big, tall, white, rich guy is gonna tell me, biography doesn't matter. So I said, you, let me tell you my story. And I told them the whole story way more than I'm telling you. And every one of them was crying their eyes out when they're done. I said, look where I am right now. Because I wouldn't assemble the story that my past equals my future. The past only equals your future if you live there. If you're using a rear view mirror to guide yourself, you're gonna crash. So what you've been through is horrific. What you've been through is unjust. I'm on your side. But if you hang on to it, you have no future and you have no one to blame but yourself. And these kids, to their credit, man, they just responded to the challenge because they first cried their eyes out hearing all the stories. My mom would think I was lying and I wasn't lying. She poured liquid soap down my throat until I threw up and I wasn't lying. So it's not the physical abuse. It's the fact that this is the person you love most that's trying to hurt you, that messes with your head. So I could have been messed up for life, but I didn't. Because something inside me says, I'm responsible for this life. And part of that is because I started reading when I was 13-14 biographies of people, the greatest people in history, and reading their lives and finding out, guess what? Their lives were far from perfect. Some of them had worse lives than I had. But when you have no reference and all you do is go online, you talk to other people, making everybody else toxic, and I'm like this, and they didn't do that. Right, don't be one of those. Free yourself from the chains of your past. I'm not saying your past doesn't matter, but listen, my mother, I tell people this all the time, and it's the truth. If my mother had been the mother I wanted to be, the mother she should have been, I would not be the man I'm proud to be today. Because I had to become a practical psychologist way before any schooling, figure out when's she going to go in the mood, how do I change her state, how do I protect her from the kids, I mean, it was life and death, and it was to some extent. So I developed skills at such a young age that when I learned things, I just added to my skills. But I had a core sense of certainty that I could turn anybody around because it started with my mother. And thank God for her. And she encouraged me in so many ways. She did so many great things. And she loved me, even though it didn't look like it at times. So, but if your parents, if the people around you said all the things you thought they should have, if they had just, not been toxic if they'd encouraged you, you wouldn't have any muscle. And right now you don't have any muscle because you're using that as an excuse if you're thinking that. And I'm not attacking you brothers and sisters, I'm calling to you because I know you're more. Otherwise I'd just keep my mouth shut. You've been hypnotized by a culture of weakness. Now having said that, I'll say one last thing. I know you've got other questions, but it's so important what you asked. Yes, there are people that you don't want to hang out with that will not serve you. but then move on. Don't sit there and talk about it constantly. Don't waste your time. And you say, but what if it's family, Tony? Mine was family too. That's God coming to you saying, grow. You need some spiritual growth. There's got to be some change in your perception, your belief, your emotions, your spiritual look of life. So that can't happen anymore. And when it happens, like at 61, I've been through so many of those things, and I like to do things in mass. I took on big big challenges, so I'd have to grow more. But then life throws them at you, too. When they come, you just go, okay, it's gonna have me until I grow. What needs a shift in me so that no longer has an impact? But, you know, Jim Rohn used to say, my original teacher, he used to say, Tony, what happens if I've got a cup of coffee here? And he'd say, what if your worst enemy drops sugar in your coffee? What's gonna happen? And I go, well, you'd have sweet coffee. And he goes, what if your best friend Your mother, your father, your brother, your sister, your loved one drops one drop of strychnine. I said, you,'d be dead. He goes, that's right. Life is both sugar and strychnine, so watch your coffee. His whole thing was stand guard at the door of your brain. But some people take it and go, oh my God, you can kill me. It was a metaphor. These people are not so toxic. They're toxic because you give them energy. So if your mom's crazy and constantly criticizing you and it drives you nuts, just go, that's my mom. That's her way of showing love. And I find a new perspective And no matter what she does, just stay in a beautiful state and love on her and think, boy, think of all that she cares and feels for, all that she's frustrated in life, or all that she's going through that's made her this way. And thank God I don't have to go through this.
I can love her.
It's like your growth is the only limit to your happiness. If you're not happy, you're not growing in some area. And usually it's a place where you're blaming, you're pointing the finger. I don't care if it's government, don't get me wrong, people can be unfair, unjust, that's for sure happens. but you can't control that. You can't make it not happen. What you have to do is become stronger than any of it so you're free. Freedom comes from growth. Freedom does not come from control. Because control is an illusion. You can't control everybody. No matter how hard you try, you can't control what they think or feel. And not everybody's going to be fair and just. And you, my dear friends, and I have not always been fair and just. Whether we admit it or not, it's just the nature of being a being, a human being. But we can't make the largest pattern fair and just and loving and powerful and serving and growing until it becomes the dominant thing inside you. And then you experience life as being great, not your great. Life's great because you're living a great path.
It seems like what I'm seeing and hearing from a lot of people that this past year, everything has fallen apart for them. Their health, their relationships, their finances, their mission or purpose. and their spiritual awareness, like every area of life has been in breakdown mode for some people. Not everyone, some people have had incredible lives and have stepped up to the occasion and broken through on all these things, but I'm seeing a pattern of a lot of people breaking down in many areas. Hypothetical scenario, let's say you could only focus on one thing to get you started. You only have the time and energy to focus on one of these areas, your health, your relationships, are all breaking down, your finances are failing everywhere, where should people lean into first to kind of create that foundation so that everything else can start to rise as well?
I think before you answer what to do, you're gonna answer why you're there. It is not because of the pandemic. I remember when 9/11 happened and people tell, oh my God, my life was destroyed because of 9/11. And there were people in the same building who turn their life around, became, grew spiritually, grew closer to their family, made their businesses larger, and the same building burned down.
Right?
I know in my case, you know, 9/11 comes, if you can imagine, you know, I'm fortunate to have now more than 80 companies in all these different industries, and obviously, you know, I've done pretty darn well by most people's standards of business and life. But my core mission is what I do for a living. It's why I'm here talking to you right now. It's getting people to be free and alive and have the level of that they deserve to have. I know they desire, but I also believe they deserve to have, but to deserve to have it, you got to do certain things, right? Blame is not a strategy for a meaningful life. Blame is not a strategy for greatness. So you got to resolve that number one. And then your question was, what's the one thing to focus on if you only focus on one? I think it's smart to focus on one thing primarily. Focus on too many can be overwhelming. Other people, it's good to focus on multiple things. it depends on your personality. So I wouldn't presuppose. But then the answer would be whichever thing you're most desirous of changing, whatever thing is giving you the most pain. So if it's your relationship, I go full force on that. Now, in the world we're in today, you know, you don't usually have the, the privilege of going, okay, I want to work on just being happy. Well, I can train you to be happy while Hell's breaking loose. You can sit in this chair and be totally euphoric. But if you do that in a Western people come and take your furniture, right? So you probably have to work on both your business or financial side and some personal side. I would be working on both. And to me, the way to attack that, if you're not sure which area is to start with the body. And I know you can relate to this, Louis, because you and I both share this in common. It's like I always teach physiology first, as you well know. If you change the body, you'll change the emotions. If you change the emotions, you'll change your decisions. You'll change the quality of your life. 'cause the quality of life is your emotions. It's not what you get, you have a billion dollars and commit suicide. People have done it, right? You can have beautiful relationships and commit suicide. You can have people loving you and be sad all the time. Our pattern of emotion is our home and you have to upgrade your home. You have to train it. And one way to train it is the emotion comes from the way you move, the way you breathe, the way you speak. So if I said to your listeners, there's a depressed person behind the curtain over here and I'll give $100,000 to their favorite charity if they had to describe their body, their posture, and they're depressed, you tell me. I'll just use you as the example.
What does that person look like? They're slouched down, they're looking down at their feet, they're not looking upward, their.
Shoulders are over, their... Are they breathing.
Full or shallow, do you think?
They're shallow.
Are they talking fast or slow? They're talking, if they're depressed, they're probably talking fast because they're not calm.
Well, no, that's usually stressed. Depressed is different than stressed.
They're probably talking low volume, slower than.
And all those physical characteristics change your biochemistry towards this feeling of being depressed. And in a depressed state, you won't do anything. When I used to be depressed, I don't get it anymore. I just took it out of my life. I even took the language of it out of my life. because the words you create create a biochemical response. I got out of it by using anger originally. I'd much like sometimes if somebody's really sad or depressed, I'll make them angry and be like, what's he doing? He's making me angry. Because angry is much more resourceful than depressed. From anger, I can get you to laughter, I can get you to taking action. And then gradually I got where I didn't need anger. It was about growth, it was about contribution, it was about meaning. So there's like stages to go through. But to answer your question, they should work on both their business side of their life and personal, one of each. And in order for either one of those to work, you need to be in a strong emotional state. And if you start with your body, like, you know, I start every morning in my cold water, start every morning with my workout, I start every morning on feeding my mind, right? So there's certain things you got to do physically so you're strong enough to remember the truth. Because remember, fear is physical. You feel your throat or your gut. So it's courage. Courage doesn't mean you're not afraid. It just means you're strong enough you push through in spite of the fear, right? And courage feels different in the body. so when you go lift or you go for a sprint or a strong run or you jump in that freezing water, when you push your mind to go beyond what's comfortable, you feel a strength inside you and that strength will help you to change your body, your emotions, your relationships, whatever. But then the other thing I have to say is model someone who's successful. Find somebody who has what you want, ideally maybe more than one person, two or three, and see what are they doing different than you in their relationship? What do they believe different than you about relationship? If it's their body. What are they doing? They're not lucky. They're doing things differently. You might be slightly biochemically different, but there's patterns there that you can see. And so instead of learning by trial and error, which can take decades you may never learn, Jim Rohn taught me success leaves clues, man. Find someone's got what you want, study what they do, every aspect of it, and then add yourself to it. And that's the pathway to speed of transformation. So now, like, you know, i've done it. I'm not the only person. There's so many companies. that went from worse off than they'd ever been in their history to the best off because they found a way to pivot.
What is your thoughts around the identity of money and the psychology of how it plays in our lives? Because a lot of people want to make more, they want to attract more, but they're just struggling with just the concept of it.
Well, I think we've been programmed quite a bit with our relationship with money. We have a relationship with everything known in our environment. You have a relationship, a neurological network in your brain for your parents, for your cell phone, for your computer, where you live, where you've lived in the past, what you're going to do tomorrow. For the most part, the brain is a reflection of everything that we know. Along with that is our relationship with money. I feel like I have a really good relationship with money because I work on having a really good relationship with everything in my life.
Did you always have a good relationship with money?
I think so.
I think so.
I've never really lived in lack. That just wasn't part of it. Even when I went to college and I had to take out student loans and stuff, I always figured out a way to always be a little bit ahead of the curve. And so let's back up and just look at how people form beliefs. Most beliefs are created from past experiences, right? So children, when they're in their early ages, their brainwaves are very slow. Their brainwaves are in alpha when they're like seven to 12. They're in theta when they're like two to six years old. And they're in delta when they're newborn to two years old. And so these brainwave states are states that were really suggestible to information.
So when we hear information, we believe it.
And we accept it, we believe it, we surrender to it as if it's the truth without analyzing it because there's no analytical facilities yet. The analytical mind starts around 12 or so, 7 to 12, and that analytical mind is actually what creates a barrier between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
So before 12, roughly, what we see, how we model our parents' behavior, all pray to us.
It's all being programmed subconsciously, right? and so that's really, really important because if you heard money is the root of all evil, money is bad, only certain people are allowed to make money, you have to work hard to make money, this is how you got to do it, and that becomes the foundation subconsciously. Let's like recording an audio file, you just keep recording that audio file, it becomes a subconscious program, right? A lot of people have a relationship with money based on either what they've been told or what they've experienced in their outer environment. Then we gain information from our environment and the stronger the emotion we feel from experiences in our lives, the more altered we feel inside of us, the more the brain freezes a frame and takes a picture. That snapshot is called the memory.
Based on an emotion.
Based on an emotion. The emotion alters our internal state. So you're going along, is Lewis feeling really good, and all of a sudden you have this trauma, you have this crisis, you have this shock, and all of a sudden you have this dramatic change in your internal state and your senses get heightened, and then you freeze the frame and you associate this internal state with whatever it is that's causing it, right?
And that's how we create long-term memories, right? Are painful memories more powerful or beautiful memories more powerful?
They're both equal. They're both equal. But the problem is I think most people experience more the negative emotions, right? And those negative emotions really are derived from the hormones of stress, right? So the alarm system, the emergency system, creates an arousal inwardly. And that arousal is saying there's something dangerous in your outer environment, right? And it could be a person, a circumstance, an accident or whatever. and that change in emotional state causes you to remember the event. You gotta pay attention, right? You gotta stay really and narrow your focus on the cause. So think about people who have relationships with money, right? From the past. All beliefs are based on past experiences. So you have an experience where you lose money, you have an experience where money's taken away from you, you have an experience where you don't have enough, you're living in a place where there's not enough money or a family that's not enough money, then the emotion that most people are living by on a moment-to-moment basis is lack. Like I'm in lack of having something that I want. Now there's nothing wrong with that because the experience changes your emotional state. You freeze the frame, you take a picture. The problem is that's hardware. So we think neurologically within the circuits of that past experience and we feel chemically within the boundaries of that emotion which would say, for example, be lack, right? So now, the person says, before you.
Go on to the next thing, what happens to the body and the mind when it is in an environment of lack? Mentally or physically, I'm in lack. What is the body of the mind saying?
Yes, so the body is saying, I'm waiting for some external event to occur. I win the lottery, I marry the right guy, whatever it is that you're waiting for that event to occur. That experience produces an emotion. So the emotion then takes away the lack. And so when we play the game in three-dimensional reality, the creation game in three-dimensional reality, we experience separation from everyone or everything because our our senses fool us into the illusion, the hallucination of separation. I'm here and you're there. I'm here and the door is over there. So I'm aware that I'm here at one point of consciousness and the door is over there at another point of consciousness. Okay, so in order for me to get from here to the door, I gotta move my body and do something through space. I gotta do something and everything in this three-dimensional reality is gonna take time and energy.
Right?
Yes. Okay, so then here's Here's Lewis right here. And then he says, okay, I want this experience in my future and your brain automatically predicts and projects how far in the future you think it's going to take.
Maybe it's a year, five years, 10 years.
30 years.
Oh my gosh. Right?
Because that's what it's going to take to pay off that house, right? So now, one point of consciousness, I'm here, the other point of consciousness is where I'm placing my dreams. So I'm in separate from that experience. So then how do I get to that experience? In three-dimensional reality, you got to get up and you got to do something. You got to go to work, you got to drive to work, it takes energy, you got to fill your car with gas, you got to eat food, you got to work, you know, all this stuff. You got to sleep, you got to recover if there's stress. And now people are, in a sense, waiting for the experience that's 10 years down the road or 30 years down the road to happen. to take away the lack of them not having it. And unfortunately, many times when the experience finally occurs, they can't enjoy it because they're too exhausted, right? So then, so you play the game, you go to school, you study really hard, or you study on your own, you develop some skills, you make the right choices, you start saving money, you start learning from your mistakes, and then the game is how many things can you accumulate? And that accumulation then you associate with being wealthy or being abundant or being successful, right? And some people get really good at it, right? You can get really good at that. But for the most part though, when we create from three dimensional reality, we're creating from lack and separation. In other words, you're driving down the road and see someone driving a car that all of a sudden you realize that you don't have. The moment you become aware that that person has that car and you don't have it, you're in lack. of having it, right? So what the brain naturally does is it naturally creates you driving that car and you have an image of yourself driving that car and you start identifying, wow, that would be a greater experience for me to have. The problem is the distance between the thought of what you want and the experience of actually happening for most people is the concept called time, right? Between cause and effect, right? So some people develop the ability to manage themselves and manage their life, they've got certain skills and they can pay for it and they can get it very quickly. The problem is when the novelty of that experience wears off, you know, the car and they're no longer identifying with that and the feeling of emptiness and lack comes back...
They need to find something else.
They gotta go find something else. And so there's this game that goes on where you never have enough, right? And that's the lack game, right? So then if you think about people having the things they want in their life, When they create from lack and separation, it's the experience in three-dimensional reality that produces the emotion and the emotion is saying, let's feel that experience this thing that you've been in lack and separation from and that emotion then takes away the lack or separation. But you've worked really hard to get it. Okay, nothing wrong with that. Is there another way to do it?
Yes.
Okay, so the person who's living in lack is waiting for their wealth to feel abundant. They're waiting for their success to feel empowered. They're waiting for their healing to feel gratitude. They're waiting for their new relationship to feel love. They're waiting for their mystical experience to feel awe. That's the Newtonian model of reality of cause and effect, waiting for that event to happen to take away this separation or lack. Nothing wrong with it. It's the way most people create. but what we've discovered is actually something else. The moment you feel gratitude, your healing begins. The moment you feel worthy and abundant, you're generating wealth. The moment you're empowered, you are moving towards your success. The moment you're in love with yourself and you're in love with life, you'll create an equal. The moment you are in awe of life, you're going to have a mystical experience. And so, that's causing an effect, right? So then if you can teach people then how to create instead of from lack or separation, but create from wholeness and create from what we call the quantum field instead of three-dimensional reality.
What's the difference?
Okay, so the way you first of all, it takes knowledge. Okay, the quantum field is an invisible field of energy that exists beyond our senses. You can't see it, you can't smell it, you can't taste it, you can't hear it, you can't feel it. It exists beyond our experience of three-dimensional reality.
Would this be in our mind's consciousness or would this be in a different space?
Okay, let's look at that. So the answer to the question is how much of your waking day do you put your attention on matter, on the material world, and how much of your waking day are you aware of energy and frequency. For most people, they're unaware of the quantum field. And if you're unaware of it, it doesn't exist for you. Just like you have a nose, but if you're unaware of it, it doesn't exist for you. The moment you become aware of it, it exists. Well, the quantum field, you can ask, you can study all kinds of science, and they'll tell you there is this invisible field of frequency and energy that exists beyond the senses that tend to connect everything physical and material. In fact, everything physical and material is connected to this field. Okay? So how do you get there?
Right?
How do you get there? How do you get there? So we discovered that when you take all of your attention off your body and you are not paying attention to your emotions, your drives, your habits, if you could take all of your attention off of every element in your environment, your cell phone, your your tablet, your computer, your car, your whatever it is, your bed. Take your attention away from everything, every place that you live, where you sleep, where you work and you're not thinking about time. You're not thinking about your schedule, where you need to be or what happened yesterday. You can relax into the present moment. There tends to be a dramatic change in the way the brain functions when people do this properly. We call it getting beyond yourself, but in a sense, you're dissociating from your three-dimensional reality. Why? Because if you're thinking about anything in your three-dimensional reality, that's where your attention is and that's where your energy is. We kind of figured out this formula when people really become nobody, no one, no thing, nowhere, no time. We are pretty much all of a sudden outside the constraints of the Newtonian world of Gotta do something to get an outcome. And if you can teach people how to linger there without a name, without a face, without a profession, without a family, without a culture, without a past, without a disease, you teach them how to be in this place we call the unknown, right? And you teach them that from that place, that invisible field, is where everything material comes from. And if they could create coherence in their brain, you need a strong signal in the brain, the more coherent the brain, the more stronger the signal.
-What do you mean a strong signal?
-Okay, let's see how I could say this. When most people, we look at brains in real time and we're looking at people's how their mind is working. When you're under stress, okay? Stress is created by not being able to predict something that's going to happen in your life. The perception that something's going to get worse or you can't control something. Right? So when that occurs, we switch on that primitive nervous system called the fight or flight nervous system and the brain goes into this very alarmed state called high beta. That means pay attention to the outer world. There's danger out there. So it's, but if it's not a predator and it's traffic or your co-worker or your ex, this is where it gets to be a problem because it becomes very maladaptive, right? So when we're in that state and the brain is that in that aroused state, we try to control and predict everything. So every person, every object, everything, every place, even your body, has a neurological network in your brain, right? So as the arousal happens, we start shifting our attention to all these elements. And like a lightning storm, in the clouds, the brain starts firing very, very incoherently. And when the brain's incoherent, we're incoherent.
That's not a strong signal.
That's not, it's a static on the wire. there is no disconnection. There is no signal. So when we're in that state, we're always really looking for the worst case scenario of what's going to happen because if you prepare for the worst, anything less happens a better chance of survival. So in this kind of aroused state, as we shift our attention to each one of these elements that are known in our environment, the brain starts compartmentalizing and firing out of order. that is what creates what's called autonomic dysregulation. That causes the brain and body to get really out of balance. So in that state, we're overfocused. When you're stressed, you're overfocused on something, you can't stop thinking about it. Our research shows that when you do that, you actually make your brain worse because you're analyzing your problems within some disturbing emotion and that emotion is driving you further out of balance. You're actually knocking your brain and body out of balance by thought alone and you're driving it into these more roused states, right?
For someone that's been living like that for decades, that's their base state. How do they even realize how to get out of that?
They don't usually it takes crisis, right? It takes trauma.
Extreme breakdown.
A loss of death. A breakup, a divorce, a near bankruptcy, whatever it is. a disease, a diagnosis, whatever, something where you just can't go on business as usual. Now it's time to really start looking.
They have to wake up.
Yeah. So let's get back to the concept of abundance here.
I need a strong signal in this field. Right.
So then if you can teach people to do the exact opposite, go from putting all of their attention on everything physical and material in the world of to separation. And instead of narrowing their focus on something material, ask them to broaden their focus and put it on nothing. I know that sounds kind of crazy, but when you put your attention on space and you divert your attention, the act of sensing without thinking actually starts to slow the brain waves down. Not only slow it down, but all of a sudden cause the brain to start re re-integrating. starts to synchronize, right? And so you see different compartments of the brain that we're firing out of order start to resonate. They start to communicate. They're all of a sudden synchronizing and what sinks in the brain kind of links in the brain. So when a person has their whole entire brain firing in rhythm, that's a very strong signal that you can send out into the field.
So when that signal is strong in that position, what can you create from that?
Okay, so but that's only one element.
Okay.
So then the clear intention tends to be a very important element that we have to have to get down and the more coherent the brain, the more clear the signal for that intention. So with intention and attention, we could actually make thought more real than anything else. Now what is that? You're saying what would it be like to be wealthy? What would it be like to be abundant? What would it be like to have all my needs met? what would it be like to have more than I need? What would I do if I had everything I ever wanted? The answer always is the same. You start giving stuff away. Because if an abundant person is truly abundant, why would they hold on? They would say, I'm not in lack. There's more for everybody. Turns out, though, that the signal sent out isn't enough. You've got to have to draw the experience back to you.
So, sending a signal out to...
It's coherent brain.
Financial freedom, all these different things.
Right, right, whatever that is for you, whatever that is for you.
Putting that out there with the intention and the attention. Right.
And then how do you draw it? So, so, no, so in the physical.
World, you got to go get it.
You got to do something. This is the plane of demonstration. You got to go get it. And when you're in lack until it occurs, right?
So, but I'm hearing you say there's a way to not chase but attract.
All right, so if you're creating from the field instead matter, right? There's a very strong possibility that you'll shorten the distance between the thought of what you want and the experience of having it. And when there's a vibrational match between your energy and that future that you want to experience, now if you're creating from the field, you actually don't go anywhere to get it. You actually draw it to you. So here comes the synchronicities, the serendipities, the coincidences, the opportunities, and they come out of nowhere. And you say, I don't understand. I didn't do anything. Well, you changed your energy. And so then the other element is a coherent heart, right? And the heart has a magnetic signature. And the magnetic signature is what draws reality to us, right? So you combine that clear intention with coherent praying. Now here's the key. This takes practice because the person who's living in lack is usually unworthy, is usually insecure, is usually in their past, they're usually frustrated, they're usually impatient, they're usually resentful because nothing's changing out there because it's taking too long. Everything takes a lot of time when you do matter to matter, right?
Right?
So then if you teach them, okay, we know all about that. We know the story behind that. We know what your parents told you about money, all that other, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. But now let's do something that would be really cool. Let's write down the feelings of how you would feel if that future happened and you're going to have to feel that feeling. before it occurs. So now, okay, what does an abundant person feel? Pretty much free, a lot of freedom.
Peace, excited, joyful.
In love with life, grateful to be alive, abundant. Okay, now let's practice feeling those. Turns out when you're feeling those other emotions like resentment and impatience and frustration, You're stepping on the gas pedal, turning on the sympathetic nervous system, and you're stepping on the brake at the same time, which is you're angry, you're frustrated, but the fight-or-flight nervous system says, Run, fight or hide, and you're sitting in a Zoom meeting and your neck is pulsating is because the heart is beating against the closed system, right? You're not using it in an adaptive way. So, the heart starts firing out of order. It starts firing incoherently. Incoherent waves cancel each other out. It's called destructive interference and then we stop trusting our future. Energy leaves the heart.
Do you understand how much more valuable you are than money? And how much more... Remember, Buddhist monks, there's millionaire achievers that go to Buddhist monks all the time. The reverse never happens. There's no Buddhist monks going, How do.
I get the money?
I need to make millions. Yeah. Why is that? Because the highest thing we have, the number one asset we have is our connection to ourselves. Then most of us think it's money. So we make that the highest vibration, but it's not.
Inner peace.
It's inner peace. It's this moment and you have that available. And we over, you know, the best things in life are free is a very cliche sentence, but it's true. And that's true, but also we only pay attention to what we invest in financially. So we overlook meditating here, but If we could pay to meditate, we'd all of a sudden do it. So we have to understand that what is free for real will bring in everything else that you want. I have a rule too with money that you might think is cool. This is a thing that I want to offer people. If you're trying to figure out how to create a space for money, I offer people to think about how they think about money. Think about how unconsciously you think about it. You're never enough, you're the root of all evil. Whatever. Now picture that you're money on a date with you. And if you're on a date with a person who says you're never enough, you're the root of all evil, you'd never want to be there. Well, money doesn't want to be in the vibrations of judging it. You reject that person.
You reject that person, so you're rejecting money. And you think that, yeah.
Yeah, I'm going to, how else do we say, I'm going to use you to get someone to like me. I'm going to, this is how money is seen. So how could money show up if that's how you see it? Because you wouldn't stay with someone on a date that said you're never enough. You're the root of all evil? It's like, okay. So how would you like to be seen on a date? You'd like to be seen as I love you no matter what, no matter if you're small or big. And if you can look at your debt or have $1 in the bank and go, I love you. Now you're creating a vibrational space for it to show up. Because you're safe, because your focus isn't on money and how it needs to change, you're much better off because you're on how you're going to change. And when you start changing like we just did and looking at these things and not needing to overcome as much as loving it, now you're focused on the thing that actually creates the money. Remember, every dollar you've ever made came from you. So don't get excited about money, get excited about you.
Right?
Like if I went on a hike with you, we get lost in the woods, I round a corner, I'm not with you and we find a waterfall, I find it, you don't see it. I fill a cup up with water and I come back and I say to you, dude, a cup of water. What am I not showing you? I'm showing you the small thing.
Yeah, not the waterfall.
Not where it came from.
The source.
The source of the water. Is the much more important thing. So none of us look at the source of where our money came from. We look at the money. So you're sitting here dwelling, not you, but people that we're dwelling on the cup of water.
Yeah.
Not us being the source of creating more.
Every dollar you've ever made came from you. Get excited about you. Start the focus on what you are, not what money will give you.
And your energy is going to attract or repel more wealth. A lot of, you know, a mentor of mine said, I was at a salsa club learning how to salsa dance, terrified out of my mind, and I saw a guy who was amazing, who was a public speaker. He actually got me into public speaking. And he said, the world makes room for passionate people. I think money is attracted to passionate people as well. Because people are passionate about life. bring an energy, they bring a richness, a fullness, a richness, and they attract riches, whether it be through the community or the art they're creating or the business they're creating. Yes. And you're going to start to attract.
Especially in this time, because I know there's people watching this go, well, what do you say about all the greedy billionaires and blah, blah, blah? And what I say is that's the old consciousness.
Yeah.
That there, in fact, we see through it and it's starting to crumble. So, The old way of doing things selfish was a conscious shift because I believe in like the 50s everyone was just like a factory worker working for and then it was like this breakaway where an entrepreneurial boom happened. So taking your focus off of the old story and moving into what you are and learning how your thinking changes things was the highest consciousness we understood at the time. So at that time that created this old consciousness of your focus, you know, changes it so you think positive, whatever, and that created it. And then we keep going and take a good thing too far, and then all of a sudden it's this billionaire thing. You can feel the most controlling mindsets crumbling. You can feel the suicides from the people that have made lots of money but see that it's not the answer. You can feel the people that are controlling other people. All the control as the control fell in you during this interview as you've said goodbye to the old story and kind of loved it. All control in the world is starting to fall and the old structures aren't working. And what will work in the new century and the new future is the birth of this consciousness. This consciousness following your heart, you will not be able to make money just from massive achievement. It won't work. I'm telling you, it's going to be, we see through it, the consciousness sees through it, it's too small. When there's going to be a major influx of Martin Luther King's, Mr. Rogers, Oprah's, Wayne Dyer's, it's coming. Because we're so repressed that our hearts are going to springboard like the Renaissance and there's going to be, you know what I'm saying?
That's true. You mentioned this a couple of times. and it reminded me of another mentor of mine, Chris Hawker. I was working as an intern for him for about six months when I was on my sister's couch, broke, no money. My dad had just gotten into an accident, a car accident that left him in a coma for three months. And he was kind of my safety net. He was my financial stability where he would support me financially on things. And he always said, When you're done like living your dream and chasing your football career, whatever it is, you would always come work for me.
-Wow.
-He had an insurance company and life insurance. And I did the whole like insurance internship and did the testing and I almost failed three times on like getting my whatever it is like the series something, whatever the life insurance test that I had to pass so I could sell life insurance. I should have stopped after I failed the first time because I just knew it wasn't for me. but I did it so I could have this backup plan. Wow. And so when my dad got in his accident, he had to sell his company to his partner because he was no longer able to work anymore. And I didn't have the financial stability like I had before. So I was sleeping on my sister's couch for a year and a half, and I was working as an intern for about six months with someone that I was learning a lot from. And I remember at one point being like, Man, I just really want some money. I feel like I've been working hard for a few years. Like I really could use some money. I'm not paying any rent money at my sister's. I feel like a loser because I can't contribute to her. I can't even get my own apartment. I'm just a loser. I was 24 at the time. I was like, Man, I'm just a loser of a guy. And he said something to me that you said. He said, Money comes to you when you're ready for it. And I was like, I feel really ready. You know, I could really use the money right now.
And he goes, I didn't say desperate for it.
Exactly. We didn't say that. But he was like, it's going to come to you when you're ready for it. And when it starts to come, it's going to make sense. I was like, gosh, I just want it though. I just want it right now. And it's funny because maybe a year later, it started to come. And then it started to really come pretty quickly, like six months to a year after that. and I remember reflecting a year and a half prior, I was like, man, I wasn't ready for this. Like, if this would have came two years prior, I would have blown it. I would have been scared of it. I wouldn't have been prepared for it. Like, I would have been so freaked out by the numbers in my bank account, I would have sabotaged it probably. And so I really feel like it comes to you when you are prepared and ready, and sometimes it's not when you want it to be.
And when people say, how do you get prepared and ready?
That's the key. So how do you prepare for it?
So for me, meditation gets me to understand that I'm the abundance, not money. And the second you understand that you're the abundance, and I mean understand it in your nervous system. I mean, don't just hear that sentence while you're still dying for it in your body. Like really be in the alignment of understanding that I'm the abundance. Wayne Dyer said beautifully, you know, there's a thing that everyone thought, you don't attract that you attract what you want. And Wendire said, You don't attract what you want, you attract what you are. What you're in vibration of. So if you want abundance, you need to get to a place where you understand your abundance and everything comes into your life the second you finally don't want it. It's not, don't want it like avoiding, like you don't need it. -I'm desperate, yes. -The second you stop looking for it, you don't even remember you wanted it. That's because you have to access the fulfillment of the connection to yourself first and then weirdly it's going to create. First of all, so many creative things, but you're going to just start. First of all, you're so aware that you see things differently. Think of just that when someone's in their head, they're walking down the street on their phone worrying, you could pass a $100 bill and not even see it. But when you're not in your head, you suddenly start to see all these dots connecting and everything meaning something different. And you see every moment as meaningful. Like last night I was waiting to go into a restaurant. One guy recognized me and said hi and we created a friendship because he's also a musician. That's cool. And then this four-year-old girl comes in and just sees me and starts dancing in front of me and showing me her toys. And I just had that moment was so much cooler than if I was looking through wondering, you know, what is going on in politics and yeah, that was fulfilling that moment. And because that's fulfilling and then on my way to the table, each step is fulfilling. Now, this is more fulfilling than anything I perceive could come to me to make me happy. Once you actually have practiced understanding that this moment is more important than anything you think you want, now you are abundance, not money. And once you're abundance, it's impossible for it to not come. You're just going to start feeling safe to everybody. They're going to want to hire you. You're going to get bizarre offers. They'll just say, Can you help me through something? Can you create this thing? You'll get an alignment with your creative gifts more than your fix it gifts to make money. You'll be in this higher thing. You'll be worth more. Better jobs will start asking you. You'll start to actually feel heavy when million dollar offers are coming in because you're like, Even that I don't want. And then it just every time I say no to something, even if it's a huge thing, the bigger thing comes up. It's like, Life's like, how about this? How about this? And then the only question I ask is, does this expand me or contract me?
Ooh, yeah, that's good.
Right?
If it expands me, then I say yes, and I can feel that within two seconds. If I get to a pros and cons list, I'm already in contracting. Do you get what I'm saying?
Wow.
So a way that I always give an example is if you've ever had lunch, you ever have lunch plans with someone, and then you hope that they cancel. Yeah. Okay. That's your highest saying cancel.
Wow.
But you're used to living a notch below it, so you wait for them to do it. So that's what I'm talking about is the highest, what expands me. So it expands, you know what expands me a lot? Is saying no to a lot of things. That's so powerful.
Yeah.
Saying no like... -That's one of the hardest things to learn how to do. But then it's one of the most.
Freeing things when you're in that space.
Yeah.
Because there's times where you might think my highest is to go out and get laid or party, but it's actually like, Really, sometimes my highest is to go to bed early. Sometimes, really my high... It's not our highest to do what we're doing. Is it your highest to go on Facebook a hundred times a day?
No.
No, but we still do it. So, we live second highest and we miss out on the universe.
How important is developing skills and value? There's one thing of like being abundance and being acceptance and all these things but there's another thing of like, okay, well the person still doesn't have any skills that are valuable for someone else to give them money.
So, you know what I mean? Crazy answer here? That's a belief that they need the skills. So let me explain that. So let's first of all talk about value, okay?
Value is perceived, right?
Sure, and most people think value is what they're worth is based on what's in the bank, right? You could say that person's got a net worth of 20 million, whatever. Cool, that's nice.
But.
There'S some people that could lose that money and remake it again in like Tina Turner, if her bank account got robbed tomorrow, could just go on tour and fill it again. Then there's some people who inherited it and won or won the lottery, and if that went away, they're still not valuable at that moment at least. So what's the cause of value? Is it how much money you have or is it what's under it? And what you understand is under it. The factor of value is do you understand how valuable you are?
So, how do you understand how valuable you are?
By creating the evidence of it, whether it's through leaps, whether it's so, so for me, when I started saying no to really tempting things, it would be really hard that moment. Like it'd be really hard. I remember when I was like, no dating for six months and then like the Swedish bikini teams, like even us.
And you're like, no. That's a joke.
I didn't turn down the Swedish bikini teams. But when you start saying no, now now even I'm someone that can say no to that. Like now I'm elevating myself above that temptation. So if I'm someone who can say no to that, you feel the force in that? So that's one thing. So there's a lot of skills I believe that we might need but if they aren't your highest to do them, they're not a 10. And if they're not a 10, that affects all of what you do. My friend Glenn Morshower says if you pee in part of the pool, you pee in all cool. So my company, my job in my company is to do this, is to go on stage, is to coach people, is to be the space to co-write the book, to make the movie. I don't do the accounting, right? I have no idea how to do the accounting. I don't do the wardrobe. I don't do any of that. But there are people who it is their 10 to do that. So I delegate that because if I did this thing that's a three energetically, then I'm going to average and bring that onto the stage. My energy will be more depleted because I'm doing things in my life that are like that. Same thing. If you're out of alignment in whatever area, you're bringing that into all of it.
Yeah.
You get what I'm saying?
So true.
So.
That'S my answer to the skills thing because there's stuff that we're just natural at. And most of us disqualify what we're naturally good at because It hasn't been done before. They go, why would anyone want, oh, just stay with it. Because that thing you have is new, that thing you have is calling to you, and it might not make sense now. But so many people I've worked with are like, well, one thing I'm passionate about is this, but I can't seem like, stop the second part. The yeah, but it's the old story. This thing you just said feels good to my body. Doesn't it feel, well, yeah, but no one will make money. Know, you're using the past story, literally what this is, what we are, what we are is the universe trying to change the planet through you. The universe is trying to change itself to a higher consciousness through you. That's what's happening when we receive on a higher level. It's like higher level ideas come through. So when you, when you meditate or whatever, you have an insight that's higher that insight. You go, it's exciting, but you can't make sense of it. You can't wrap your mind around it.
Follow it.
You're not supposed to wrap your mind around it. One thing people say is, I can't wrap my mind around it. You're not here to shove the infinite vastness of what you are into your teeny mind. You're here to acclimate your mind to the vastness of what you are. That's the difference. You know, there's so many quotes that people say, to insult people that live in their hearts. Like, this person went off the deep end. The implication is the shallow end is better. This person went over their head. Yeah, I'm using my whole body.
Right.
Right.
Not staying in my head.
It's so funny how dumb it looks. Oh, dude, you're out of your mind. You're right. You're in your head.
Right?
It's like you're thinking small. You better be out of your mind. I love to go over my head, so I have to use my body. Right? Because just my small mind can't grasp these concepts we're talking about. But my body knows it. Like if you listen to this, you have to be listening from your body. You cannot listen from the small story.
That won't make sense.
In fact, this is very offensive to the small story.
Yeah.
Right?
How dare he? I'm in this limitation and most of us instead of fighting for our freedom, fight for our limitation.
Gosh.
It's like the safe space, right? It's safer being limited.
Totally.
Well, ironically it's not. It's actually the most dangerous place. But it seems safer. Yeah, but it's more comfortable in that place.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I mean, what we call a safe space could be an abusive relationship. It could be, it's just you're used to it. So because you didn't die, you go, that's safety. And everything that I've never seen before, I don't know that I won't die, so my body's scared of it. But the truth is, usually what the body's got is way better and it will change your consciousness from here to here and then you'll get this new calling once you're here to here.
Don't count the number of times you've been knocked down. Get attached to the number of times you get up.
I'm gonna get these truth bombs all day.
Right, right, boom, boom, boom, boom.
I love it. I'm curious now because you didn't start out you know, with a lot of money and with a lot of abundance mindset, did you?
Right. It wasn't just not a lot of money. You know, it was one thing to be fiscally broke. It's another thing to be emotionally broken. Two very different things. And I was broke and broken. And in 1994, I had to go get on government's assistance just to feed my newborn baby. I had to get on WIC, women, infant and children. and I still say it. And, you know, I say it often. I'm interviewed. I was interviewed 155 times in five months for my previous book, no Matter what. And it still hits me in the same place. I. I was ashamed to stand in line with all the other mothers, some fathers, to get free butter, free cheese, free milk, free pasta. But at the same time, I was grateful that there was such a service to help people like me that I knew this wasn't where I was going to stay.
Right.
But it was where I was in that moment. I wasn't committed to take up real estate there, but it was my current address and broke and broke it. It kind of hit the, I felt like I hit the bottom. Sometimes you feel you're back on the bottom like, I think, that's the bottom, right?
And then there's always a deeper bottom.
So when I was getting food stamps, I thought I was at the bottom. And then you went to the ATM. I ran out of Pampers for my son Jelani, and I went to the ATM to get money to go buy Pampers, and it said insufficient funds. And I had $11.42 in the bank.
What's the minimum you can take out 20 bucks in an envelope?
Exactly. You need 20 in to get 20 out. And I had $11.42 and so I went home and I had to wrap my son Jelani for two days in a series of different tiles. That? That was my rock bottom. And that was because as a parent all you want to do is provide. that's it. It's simple. I just want to provide safety and food for my baby. Somebody else was providing my food and I didn't even have Pampers. And I remember on the second day of wrapping my son in the towel, Lewis, I put my hand over his stomach and I said, don't worry, Jelani, with tears streaming down my face. I said, don't worry, son. Mommy will never, ever. be this broke again. And so you talk about having financial resources. I realized that I needed to first believe that I could do something different, that wherever my mindset was, my bank account was going to follow. So I needed to change my mental zip code.
What was your mental zip code then?
Scarcity, lack. I was born and raised in South Central LA. I grew up between the Harlem Krip 30s and the Roland 60s. I had three fights a week to get home from school. My highest grade in school was a C plus. In 12 years of school, my highest grade was a C plus. And so if you ever tell this story to anybody, don't forget my plus. Don't. Y'all don't forget my plus. It's very important to a C student.
To a student.
I was a C. A D student. I get it. To an A student, it doesn't matter. Like plus, plus, whatever. But to a C student, the plus matters, man. I get it.
So.
So I struggled. Everything in my life was about a hustle. Everything, nothing was easy except the love for my family. That was easy and effortless and graceful and bountiful. But everything else outside of that, it was a hustle, get or get got. It was the environment I grew up in. And I'm not saying that you have to grow up in that rough environment to have an amazing future. People always say, well Lisa, I didn't have it rough, could I have a... Listen, I would have traded my background in for anybody. Like don't think I chose that so I can have this. And so I didn't know abundance. I didn't know abundance existed. I didn't know abundance could happen to people who look like me. A woman, geographically, from my neighborhood, I didn't know abundance can be that. I didn't see it around me. I didn't know abundance can be for someone that was in my culture. Everything was about survival and hustle. So, so many things. And spiritually, I didn't know that someone who loved God, who had a spiritual foundation, can also have prosperity without being perceived as greedy. I mean, everything in my environment said, not me. Everything said not me if I listen to the sound effects. Right. And sometimes you just got to turn the volume down and listen to your heart.
Right.
So what was the conversation you would tell yourself during this time when you're in this scarce zip code?
Someone like me can't have it. Them over there, that guy right there, he comes from the right family. That girl right there, her skin color is the right complexion. That I'm full figured, A mocha skin, full lips, round hip, kinky hair girl. Nah, not me. Not now. I get other things. I get a bountiful family. I get great children if I want. I get closeness to God, but I don't get abundance. And I realize that so much of that conversation was embedded in me before I was five. I mean, it just comes with the territory. I would watch my grandmother make a dime go in 20 different directions. and I never wondered about having 21 dimes. I just wanted to grow up and make my dime go in 20 different directions to be like Grandma. And so, so much is culturally inherited, gender inherited as a gender, as a woman, you're not raised to make Millions. You're raised to either get a good job or get a man with a good job. You know, and so. Especially in the 80s and 90s. Absolutely. Absolutely. And that's how we were raised spiritually. You're taught you know, in my background, my religious background, now I'm spiritual, I'm not attached to a religion at all. But growing up in the Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, it was, you know, money is the root of all evil. Well, who would want a lot of that? And that good- who wants evil? Exactly. Who wants evil? And if that's what you say, then I learned that I don't need it. And Sister Brown, I watched Sister Brown, and Sister Brown was the most godly woman in the church, and she was always selling fish. dinner and barbecue dinners to make sure she had enough money. And so unconsciously, I wanted to be like Sister Brown because that woman can pray the heavens down. And so then again, I'm looking at that. And then in my neighborhood, it was the moment you get a little extra, you give it away. You give it away still to this day. I kid you not. I want one of my last opportunities. I don't call them challenges, opportunities is I'm in the top 1% earners in America. I say that humbly, I'm grateful. And my job now is to learn how to keep it and grow it, 'cause I love to give it away. And I know it's a learned behavior. It's a learned behavior. And I give it away to good things. I just put $82,000 and revamped my grandmother's whole house 'cause I knew she wasn't gonna move. She gonna listen. She gonna, that's where she gonna rest in peace. She's gonna stay right there. She's been at that house since 1968. She's not going anywhere. So I just redid the entire house, gutted out the entire house, and, and, and put spent close to a hundred thousand dollars doing it. And I'll do that over and over and over and over again because I also was taught, give it away. So now I'm going to people who are more powerful in money in terms of, I know how to make a lot, I know how to keep a lot. Now I learn how to grow a lot.
Yeah.
You know, and being willing and being humble enough to say, that's where I am. I got the first two down because money is three levels. How do, how do you earn it? How do you keep it and how.
Do you grow it?
Yeah. And so You know, I had a conversation for a long time in many different ways. And then it's the conversation as a woman, if I make so much, it's going to be hard to be dateable. That big D word, you know, and so as an African American woman, Exactly. And men are taught, as I taught as a woman about money, you're taught as a man, be the provider. Well, you know, it's kind of hard to provide for a G like me. You know, when I come in, I go, How about we just put it together? Because I'm kind of cool on the provision thing. You know, and so I realize that men have to also feel comfortable with the fact that that's an 80s conversation. And in 2015, she might make 26 now. Right, 2016.
Right.
You're the book tour.
I started the book tour and I have like, you have to at every moment tell me the date that we're living inside of right now.
I feel you. I feel you.
Right.
You know, you just, I'm just recovering. I'm finally in this Tell me there's something on the inside. Recovery is true, right?
There is a clear voice, there's sanity, there's a healthy body, there's your freedom of time. So I'm curious, what was this moment then that you realized, okay, I need to shift the way I'm thinking, the conversations I'm having, how I'm showing up, who I'm being in every moment, from living in the scarce environment that I've lived in for 20 something years to all of a sudden shifting into an abundance mindset and way of being. What was the moment to experience the thought, the idea, the catalyst that broke that?
I like how you say a moment. Like I got a, the ceiling opened up and the lights came in and the angels came, no.
Maybe it was over time.
Right. It was, there was a moment when, there was a moment when suffering became too painful.
There you go.
So mine didn't necessarily come in a glory moment. It came with $11 and 42 cents and watching my baby wrapped in a towel. A towel? I felt like I was being unfair to him. See, because 30 days before the towel, I'm really telling my stuff, 30 days before the towel, his father called me and when I answered the phone, I never forget, I said hello. He said, Lisa, I'm in LA County Jail. Well, I don't do jail and I don't do people in jail and I don't do people who have a possibility of going. So how did you get there? Because I met you in corporate America and you were a professional. How you got there is his business, I don't know. But now I'm a single mom of a son whose father is now in prison. Boom, boom, rock bottom, rock bottom again. So 30 days later when I had my son wrapped in a towel, I was done.
I was just done.
You're sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was done. So, you know, the concept of bankrupt is there's nothing left. Yeah, that's the concept of bankrupt. So I like to explain it. I was bankrupt in my mess. I was bankrupt in my chaos. And I was bankrupt in every sexy. Because my excuses are sexy, by the way. I've been a linguistic specialist for years. I could talk my teachers into doing things right. I mean, that's just been my gift. My father used say, Lisa, please promise me you will use your powers for good. And so I was bankrupt in all of my excuses. So if you ask when, it was probably about three hours after I told my son we'll never be here again on day two of being wrapped in a towel in 1994. And then I said, how? The next question was how, if I'm done with this, I'm not even sure what that looks like. I just know over there are a bunch of abundant thinkers living an abundant life, having abundant memories with a surplus of everything in it. Because abundance is to be an overflow of the things that you have. Abundance is just about overflow. It's about overflow. That means that if there were a saucer under this cup, abundance would be everything on this tea flows over into the saucer and I can feed you from my saucer because I have filled my cup up enough. I use my cup for me and I feed you from my saucer. And abundance is saying, I have a saucer in my relationships filled with great experiences. There's a saucer in my health and wellness. I have so much bountiful health and vitality that can show up for you. There's a saucer with my spirituality that I can pray for you. I can forgive the perceivably unforgivable and love the perceivably unlovable. And then there's a saucer for my finances and that in every area, because abundance is 360 experience. See, wealth is singularly focused. Wealth is about your money and your possessions. That's wealth. Okay. But abundance is 360. I have a lot of very, very wealthy friends who are miserable, unhappy, who.
Are not abundant, who are not abundant.
They're wealthy. Yeah, they're wealthy. They're not abundant. And they understand that. And they come to me and go, Lisa, help me with my relationships with my family or whatever.
Right.
And so. I had to learn something different. Louis, I didn't know what I didn't know. And so that became the moment when I said, what do I need to know to have something different? What do they know that I don't know? And how can I get it? And I became a hunter.
So what was the first discovery?
That there's a mindset that comes with abundance. That they think differently. They don't just do something different. There's not a hookup. First of all, what camera do I look into? Is it that one?
Anyone. Anyone.
There is no such thing as a hookup. I am still waiting on mine. And if you know where it is, my phone number is. So there was no hookup. Yeah, there's no hookup. Like, it's not true. Like, you got a 297 million chance in one to win the lotto. And within five years, the people win the lotto and more debt than they were before they won the lotto. So that ain't even a hookup, right? Yeah. And so I realized that I needed to change my mindset. I needed to learn something different. And I needed to know it at a cellular level. All that stuff I just told you about my color, my gender, my, I had to unlearn. People are, we're information junkies because we got all kind of access to information online. And we're learning all this stuff, but we're not implementing anything. I'm sorry, I might step on a few toes. That's what I do. And so I realized that I had to add cellular level. First, before I went to get any more information, I had to be willing to divorce and evict some belief systems that I already had, that they had taken me as far as they can take me, and now they're holding me back. It's almost like you wear a size 11, you have 11 foot, and you tried to fit it back in a size seven shoe. You passed that a long time ago, and. And that's gonna be a very uncomfortable day. I was in discomfort. I was very uncomfortable with my thinking. And so I started diving into books. The first book I dove into was Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. And it disrupted me. It disrupted everything. I didn't know. It was like a double door opened up and then a wall opened up. And I'm like, what do they know that? Like, why nobody told me that? Like I felt like I was out of a club. And really you are. I'm just gonna tell you, abundant thinkers think a certain way. and they don't go around trying to, trying to convert you like people like you and I go, let's open it up to everyone. Yeah, but here's what I, I know about the human spirit. It's that the human spirit has a power of choice. And most people don't want to choose this kind of thinking because it costs you something. It costs. The cost is you got to get up earlier. You get up earlier than the average guy. Your day, what you do in a day is what some people do in a week. But you do in the mornings or some people do in 12 hour day. You got to be willing. What you're willing to do on your book tour to get on the New York Times, some people say, I got to do all that. I don't want to do all that.
That's a lot of work.
Okay, great. Then have your life. Like you have to, you sign up for your life experience. There's no way like you were, when I realized that I was a culmination of all my decisions. That's like straight with no chaser. That's like getting it with no cookies and milk. I was a culmination, you're a culmination of all your decisions. and then when you up level your decisions, and that's even harder at times when you go, God, why am I always single? You're a combination of your decisions. You're a combination of your actions. Why can't I keep any money? You're a combination of your decisions, your life. So I wanted to make better decisions because my son being wrapped in a towel, me having 11.42 cents, me being overweight, me, my, my son's father being in prison, I, I couldn't shake it. I was a combination. My life experience was a combination of all my decisions, and it was undoubtedly a hot mess. And so I went, well, let me go learn from somebody whose life don't seem like it's a hot mess. And then let me adopt some of their behaviors. And I began to hunt. I went to conferences. I, and I was scared the bejeebies out of me these conferences. I'd never been to conferences before. I went to entrepreneurial conferences. I was the only, I was one of four women at an 800 person conference, and I was the only woman of color. So it was all older white men and me. And I was like, okay, well, they, they're not afraid of money. Seems like they're talking money and business and corporations and ROIs. and PPMs and term agreements and no abla espanol. I don't know what that mean, but I am not leaving until I figure this out. And I went to the same conference. When I say do what other people won't do, so, and you'll have what other people don't have. I went to the same conference, Louis, 42 times. I told you I was a C student, so I took me a minute to get it. And I kept getting sponsored back to the, I didn't even have the money to go to the conference. I start volunteering at the conference. I would be on stage teaching because they love the way folk, then I get off and I'd help clean up because I had to pay my dues to be there. I was okay. I ate my slice of humble pie every day. Sure. Because I was bankrupt. See, some people, you haven't pushed non-negotiable yet.
You're still optional.
I really would love to be successful. And so you want to be successful? I want to be successful. I want to make money. I want to be healthy. I want to be healthy. But it's not non-negotiable yet because the moment the rubber meets the road and you feel a little skin and it gets a little tender and and a little blood may show up. You don't wanna give blood, you don't wanna give sweat, you don't wanna give tears. Let me just tell you, you can't take the elevator to the top. It ain't no stairs.
It was the early development of manifestation, right? And it was drawing, I have a self-portrait of myself from when I'm 14 years old, where it's me, this is no joke, it is me in a matching hat and shoes, like with a skateboard on the side, all of these, like, this art easel and then just stacks and stacks of money.
Really?
And I drew this. I hand drew it, right? And it's like, the most fascinating aspect is it's this bizarre matching hat to shoes combo, you know? And into me, like, I always, like, could feel intuitively the law of attraction.
Really?
And so even when I look at, like, I needed I was lost at 25 years old when I was searching for some sort of way to, I was affixed to help redirect me and get me remotivated and refocused. And that's why I was looking for a hypnotist, right? And then I found a hypnotist who was at the Scripps La Jolla Hospital. And so to me, I'm like, okay, this is like a clinical psychologist hypnotist. this is real.
Right?
And so when I got in there.
Not some stage performer. Yeah.
And so to me, it was like, like when I got in there, I was, like, looking for, like, you know, give me, make me focused on skateboarding so I can win contests, like, you know, whatever my vision was. And he immediately did this test and said, you don't believe you were meant to be successful at your subconscious level.
And so that's what he discovered after doing this test.
And then the initial hypnosis Hypnosis was just reinforcing at the subconscious level that I was meant to be successful, right? That I believed that, right?
How do you learn to believe that if you hadn't believed it until then?
And look, I would say that I grew it and built it at an early age and was starting to lose it.
Okay.
And then you- got it, which made.
You a professional at 16 and kind of go to the next level. then somewhere you lost it.
Right.
He reinforced it and then boom, you know, and most recently I went to his house, you know, like a year ago. Really? Yeah. I went to his house. He's like this hypnotist now, his lifelong friend, you know what I mean? I found him in the yellow pages. It was free internet. The great Dr. George Pratt. And so, you know, I will, you know, I've sent friends there. I go see him all the time, you know, on my five-year anniversary, he presided over the five year anniversary of our, when we renewed our vows. But I'm like, hey, can you just give me a check real quick? I just want to verify that I'm gonna be a billionaire. He's like, come on in here. He's like, come on, stop it. You know that's gonna happen.
Wow.
Like, his like psychological power. He's like, stop it. And it's just like, you're right, Dr. George. But look, I think even, you know, we were both in Think and Grow Rich that I, We had shot before we did the initial interview together, too.
He was in the movie?
No, no, you, me and you.
Oh, yeah, yeah, gotcha, yeah.
Right?
And it was, even back then, like, now I'm evolving and getting more intuitive of things being attracted to me. But it wasn't till 2018. I was in a bit of a pit of chaos, right? Because here's these great plans that I have built that were unfolding. 2016, it was all coming alive, right? Our interview was at peak youthful energy of like, the world is mine. I just moved to Beverly Hills, I'm having my first child, got my new office in Beverly Hills, like my forever estates, just launched the machine that month. I remember all of these things like, I'm gonna build and sell all these companies, still had never done it. Just the vision, the hope, everything. The energy of what was going to become and so But in 2018, things got sideways, right? The energy got sideways.
How so? Was this the NBC show that didn't work?
No, this was them talking about ridiculousness going away. Really? And I had built Super Jacket for it to be acquired, and it was just like, wow, it's like this entire thing that I've got built up, and this is the first company I'm building to sell. is going to kind of drift away here. And my wife suggested, like, why don't we just watch the Secret? Wow. And so I'm like, you know, like, what? You know, and I kind of remember the secret. You know, I sort of, like, remember the secret. And then, I mean, the first 15 minutes, it just shifted my being.
Really?
It shifted my being in way of thinking of, like, like, stop it, like. look at who you are, what you've done, and look at the good that has constantly found its way to you. Don't lose sight of that. And I began to practice belief. And literally, a month later, my internal medicine specialist is talking about meditation, and I'm like, I have to meditate. And she's like, oh, I In my office, we have this new company that has these meditation pods, the Soma Dome, right? And I'm like, Can I try it out? And inside this Soma Dome, it's a guided meditation about manifestation. Really? And so what I started doing in 2018 is I was like, I'm not going to like hope for the law of attraction. I'm going to begin to practice it. So I would go to sleep every night watching the Secret. So it was the last thing I went to bed and then when I would get up in the morning, I would get in my dome, right? And I would just like think of all the things I wanted to happen, right? And so instead of thinking in 2018 when they were talking about ending Ridiculousness and I was in season 12, I wasn't, I decided I wasn't going to manifest Season 13. I was go, I kept manifesting, walking onto stage, introducing season 30.
Holy cow.
So you weren't thinking about the next season. You were thinking about 20 seasons away.
Right, right.
And, and so for me, like, like it then evolved in, like, it literally began, it was like the, the, the Seas began to part. Right. Because what happened is Because I own the production now, I was able to negotiate directly with the head of the network on the unit economics of the show rather than talent and producing fees. And so we got to a place where we decided from a business perspective what was best for the network and the ever-changing landscape of linear cable. And I gave him the, I'm like, give me the price you want and then let me go and try to make it happen.
Because you used to have a talent feed that was bigger and then you said, let's work on it.
Somebody else would produce it. Now I produced the entire thing, owned the entire production, so I understood where all the opportunity was to get it to his cost. And that, it's a nuance now, right? So I negotiated with him on the unit economics where most, like even big celebrities and producers are still like, it's fees. You know, like you don't have the ability to get in that into depth because you don't, you don't understand or own the production company at that level. And so it goes from right there. I got it to his number. We negotiated and I was getting 30 episode seasons at a time back then. And I said, I can only do this price if we get to 42 episodes and you got to pick up multiple seasons.
Wow.
And I was hoping for two, he picked up four.
Right.
And so it went from thinking that it was completely like, I'm gonna have to regroup and, like. Like, television's over here to, like, now you're shooting 186. Right?
Like.
And the beauty of it was, is I had built the company up to that point. You needed three years of EBITDA to take it to market and sell it. The entire plan was like, we got to get through. third year and take it to market. And on the third year, they were like, we don't think the show's coming back. Basically like, okay, that means the production company's going out of business after I was getting ready to take it to market and be my big first win. And instead, that 186 order, I take it straight to market. Now I took it to market. Here's the three years in EBITDA. And we have the biggest order in the history of cable television, right? Like, what's the biggest order? One of the biggest ones, right? And so, that is how huge that, that, that changed. And then what happens now? They have more episodes. They air more. It gets this new, entirely new life. Then they're like, can we get more?
Really?
Then by the, by the following year, you know, and keep in mind, in that time, I sold the company.
What year is this now?
The company was acquired in 2019. Right. So. Mm-. And then it was like it had this explosion. So then it's like, how many can you give us? And I'm like, so I went through all time management, all aspect, because keep in mind, I'm still doing all of this while living super balanced, happy normal life. So I could do 250 Max. 250 in a year. Yeah. And then I was like, but in order to do that, like, can you pick up two years? And then they were like, what? No-brainer. Let's do it. So they then ordered 500.
500 EPS.
Yes.
In two years.
In two years. And that put me to 30 seasons, right? So it's like, so, you know.
Oh my goodness. So you're visualizing 30.
Visualizing 30. And I'll tell you one thing, you know, I actually spent some time with the great Dr. Joey. dispense.
Right.
And, and the one thing I heard from him is this idea of, don't try to think it, try to feel it. You know, don't, when you're, when you're trying to, to, like, tap into the quantum field and, and, and generate energy in the law of attraction, the things that you are thinking about, think about the feeling. That's why I thought of, I, like, went through the feeling of, like, , what it feels like to be on stage, welcome to season 30, right? So it's a much more richer sort of existence. So now, now it's like I practice it every single day. I am in, you know, that Soma Dome meditation pod, like feeling what I want to happen seven days a week. Almost never miss a day, right? And I track it super extensively and like literally it's like 90 97, 96, like almost every, like, like 97% of this entire year, I have been in there just visualizing what I want to happen.
I gotta get one of these domes.
Look, keep in mind, like that's, think how hard it is to just meditate every day.
That's so hard.
Right? Think about how hard it is to just do anything healthy every day.
For five, 10 minutes.
You know what I mean?
It's a, I didn't do it overnight. I had to grow into it. It's a muscle. Getting that level of discipline, being able to commit to it. You need to do it over and over. You go through your highs and lows. You stop for a little bit. You go back to it. You stop like it. It goes like that till you finally grow the muscle of the consistency and the discipline to where it turns into a way of life. I just don't, now I can't even imagine not doing it. If I don't do it in the day, I'm like, oh, like, We're all my dreams.
How important is it for people to feel their, what they want to manifest on a daily basis then, as opposed to once in a while?
I mean, look, I'm living proof that you can exponentially accelerate towards it if it's part of your focus.
Where do you think you'd be if you didn't do that on a daily basis?
It's hard to say.
And go to sleep almost every night watching the secret.
I mean, look, but I look, I have been falling asleep to a lot of gym Jim Rohn, this old Jim Rohn, this old school sort of his sort of philosophy that's also super sharp because what I've just found is, is like you're like this, you know, I'm gonna fall asleep instantly, right? Like I sleep pure and quick, but it's like, let me be in this sort of growth mindset as I'm drifting off asleep to set the tone for what it is. I don't know. And it's again, I think with a lot of stuff that I do, it's extreme. It's like so extreme.
You track every minute of your life.
Yeah, tracking all every minute of my life, having the qualitative data of every single day, asking myself how I feel about my life zero to 10, right, of life, work, and health. The beauty of that is it is a clear indication of the quality of your life.
Yes.
And I see direct correlation to my discipline on my quantitative stuff. Did I get up at five? Did I brain train? Did I meditate? Did I get in the gym? Did I have a clean diet? Did I not drink? You could look straight up the line and look at the qualitative numbers and they are one for one. And at scale, you've gamified your discipline.
Yes.
Right. And in a sense, you've gamified driving the quality of your life. Which, what does that do? What do all those things actually deliver to you? You're just happier, you're more fulfilled, you feel better about yourself, you have more confidence, you have more belief, right? Like all of these things. But again, I started it in 2015. I was never able to do an entire year until 2020. It took me five years to do an entire entire year. Now, in 2021, I set my goals in 2021 based off of having an entire year of this data to be like, I'm going to average 20 points above on the quality of life qualitative data, and I'm going to be 80 on my health balance quantitative stuff. And that's what I committed to. Only I am currently at like 21 and like 95. it just. Wow. It, like, once I gamified it, and now I'm playing the stats, like, it made me even that much more disciplined and, and excited and energetic to.
Stay.
More disciplined, which in turn gives you more energy, more discipline and more self-belief more self-belief, more success, all these things that compound on top of each other, because that you know, it really is a compound effect in all aspects of your life if you're if you see your life as all of these different systems that have the ability to expand, right? Because as they expand and they they're they're harmonious, you get this extraordinary energy and build this this great foundation that you grow into the ideal version of yourself. Because that's ultimately everybody's goal, you know?
If you can only do five things on a daily basis that would set you up for freedom, success, abundance, what would those five things be?
I mean, to me, it is the core five that I do. I'll skip brain train because that's just more like a discipline thing for fun. But you get up early, you know? Lately, I've been getting up at 4:00 and 4:30. because it's like you, you get so much out of being highly organized and having time to get a ton of stuff executed before the chaos starts.
Right.
Because I don't care who you are. The chaos starts, you know, in my case, it starts at seven, the moment my kids hit up. So everything that I can get done ahead of them is, is essential.
Right.
And including free thinking and ideating and all these things that, that get lost when you're just going from thing to thing to thing and exhausted and then, like, veg out, get up, go thing to thing to thing.
Right.
Like you're the, the life force is constantly recalibrating and, and getting Clarity on where your head is as part of it. But one, for sure, get up, get up early, meditate, you know, and everybody does it in a lot of different ways. But like, I don't, meditation for me isn't get quiet and breathe. I put headphones on, I get in a dome, and I listen to a guided manifestation meditation that's like basically dry, like reinforcing my drive and ambition and hopes and dreams rather than trying to like, like bring peace. And it's a different style, but I think anytime you just take that like 20 minutes to be outside of your body and ultimately the reality, if you will, is a great reset. And, you know, I think, you know, number one far, you know, far and above is diet, man. I just don't care. I don't, there is, if I could boil down the core of my happiness, the core of my execution, the core of it is literally clean diet. And it also compounds. And it goes, it compounds back and forth. Because you can get clean and get a big momentum and you can just start to eat lightly bad and you just level off. You know what I mean? You definitely can't go a layer deeper, but it is of course the hardest one. to maintain. It's the battle between the upper self and lower self, right? It is that pure battle of like, you know, you shouldn't be doing it, but like, you just can't stop it. Then once you start it, here's the problem for someone like me. I have to create all this discipline and gamify it to protect me from me, because I will start to dip.
Down to justify, ah, just, yeah, yeah.
I'll dip down and then I'll do like fake health for a while, right? And then I'll be like, after my wife's birthday, then I'm gonna get focused again. You're always like, you're always like, like breaking that battle between my upper and lower self. It is, is, you know, I would say even this year is probably the, the only year. And I was committed to it again because I had the data and, and, and. and like now seeing like gamifying it is like, I just want my body composition this, you know what I mean? Like, I swear like normally it would, it would like literally summer dip back oh, oh, back up in the winter starting over January 1. It's almost like in December it's just pizza and wine and cheese and cookies, ice cream. Oh, it's in, in, in to me.
It'S like, so how do you, do you do an 80-20 approach to that? Do you have a cheat day? Like how how do you make sure you're not this disciplined freak of nature all day long and not also enjoying moments of.
Yeah, I try to like, like not put a, I just try not to lose control.
Yeah.
Right. And then I keep a foundation of, and my foundation is just chicken, vegetables, right, and intermittent fasting.
That's it.
Right.
So I just, no rice, no bread, no snacks. Chicken and vegetables at like 10 or 11. Chicken and vegetables at like three or four. And then, okay, it's date night. Like, I'm gonna go with the wife and we're gonna go movie. I'll have popcorn, right? Like, it's your baseline that you can commit to. And then now it's a battle between your upper and lower self. Where do I lose it? In the spring when I went on vacation. So I got back into that same mode where I, like, I dipped so quick and it was a five day trip to combo and I'm in a dog fight. It felt like I was like fighting to like get back to that extraordinary discipline, right? And even with this much discipline, I was still fighting it, you know, and wavered throughout the summer, but stayed committed to like, let's be this year. Look at how discipline how much better you feel about life, all the things that are happening to you. Let this be the beginning. At year five, I finally had a pure year that I envisioned in 2016 that I was trying to sell to you that I was going to develop and be. And it took five years. And I just think that's another testament of, you're talking, I'm so disciplined. I'm so committed yet I still highs and lows and chaos. Like it took me five years before I, well really four years into the fifth year before I really got there. You know what I mean? Which is just a testament to like having a plan and knowing that, hey, it's a, you're gonna grow into this over the next 25 years and not try to do it over six months, one year, two years. three years.
Interesting.
Okay, so that's number three, nutrition.
And then of course, getting in the gym and movie.
Yes.
You know, I don't forget about, you know, another big thing that I sat in here was talking about my passion for biomechanics. And now after years of abusing my body, I have a doctor come to my house five days a week.
Wow.
And all I want to do is re-engineer by biomechanics, When I came in here, I was one year and a half into fixing my biomechanics, thought I.
Was still messed up though.
Yeah, thought I had probably another six months to go, eight months to go. I am now into year six.
He still comes in five days a week.
And it's like now I have this extraordinary, I know every single muscle in my body, I know the relationship between every single muscle, every single bone, of the fascia, all of the nerves, all of the neurology, and have had to slowly fix it all and created a system triangulated three different systems that allowed me to do quantitative muscle testing and muscle pattern correction that I could quantitatively test. And to simply describe it, your body winds puts a layer of compensation on every time you add another movement dysfunction and there is literally thousands. And they essentially turn your body into these Chinese handcuffs where you try to treat one area and it goes to another one and locks it, then that one starts to pull and pulls back into it's you're in unwinding all of those Chinese handcuffs. It has taken me almost three years. And right now I sit on the precipice of like, testable, flawless biomechanics, right?
Really?
And another beautiful thing about it is I was getting internal blood work the entire way through, right? So I have my blood tests for the entire way through. And so this latest blood work came back and you know, you're no longer, you have no more inflammation markers, you no longer have leaky gut, all of these things were, and you know, my internal medicine specialist is like, you know, I don't know. I don't know. Like, what about your diet? I'm like, my diet hasn't changed. All I'm doing is fixing the relationship between my muscular structure and my skeletal structure, which then is releasing pressure on my internal organs and my gut and the functionality of my body and all this stuff.
And the moment you decide to make a different choice, get ready. It's going to feel uncomfortable, right? It's going to feel unfamiliar. Your. Your body's all of a sudden saying, hey, Louis, why don't you start thinking those same exact thoughts, do the same things, make the same choices, demonstrate the same behaviors, have the same experiences, so you could feel that.
