Alex Hormozi argues that most people don't know how to try hard, and that's why they fail. He points to podcasting: 90% of podcasters quit after one episode, and 90% of those who continue never make it past 20. Reaching the top 1% requires at least 20 uploads, even if nobody listens at first.

If it is worth doing, then it is worth doing. Cut out the things that aren't worth doing so that you have all of the energy to actually give your all to something. And I would say this is that most things aren't that hard if you really try. It's that most people don't know how to try hard. They don't have the skill to try hard. And so the number, I mean, you probably know the stat from the podcast world, right? Which is it's 90% of people only upload one podcast of the remaining 10%. 90% of them don't make it past 20 uploads. So to be in the top 1% of podcasters, you have to upload 20 podcasts. It still may not be successful. You still don't make any downloads, but you're doing a lot better than the other 90%, 99%. The price for excellence has never been so cheap.
