MONEY WILL FLOW LIKE CRAZY! (How To Manifest Success & Riches) | Lewis Howes

Lewis Howes hosts conversations with Bob Proctor, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Jen Sincero, Patrick Bet-David, and Ken Honda about money, mindset, and manifestation. They discuss vibrational alignment, emotional programming around wealth, and how inner peace connects to financial success.

You will not be able to make money just from massive achievement. Once you actually have practiced understanding that this moment is more important than anything you think you want, now you are abundance, not money. Because the highest thing we have, the number one asset we have is our- if you are fully on the highest vibration, do you understand how much more valuable you are than money? And how much more- remember, Buddhist monks, there's millionaire achievers that go to Buddhist monks all the time. the reverse never happens. There's no Buddhist monks going, How do I get the million?
I need to make millions.
Yeah.
Why is that? Because the highest thing we have, the number one asset we have is our connection to ourself. Then most of us think it's money. So we make that the highest vibration, but it's not.
Inner peace.
It's inner peace. It's this moment and you have that available. And we over, you know, the best things in life are free is a very cliche sentence, but it's true. And that's true, but also we only pay attention to what we invest in financially. overlook meditating here, but if we could pay to meditate, we'd all of a sudden do it. So we have to understand that what is free for real will bring in everything else that you want. I have a rule too with money that you might think is cool. This is a thing that I want to offer people. If you're trying to figure out how to create a space for money, I offer people to think about how they think about money. Think about how unconsciously you think about it. Like you're never enough, you're the root of all evil, whatever. Now picture that you're money on a date with you. And if you're on a date with a person who says, you,'re never enough, you're the root of all evil, you'd never want to be there, right? Well, money doesn't want to be in the vibrations of judging it. You reject that person.
Yeah, yeah, you reject that person, so... Yeah.
You're rejecting money.
Right.
And you think that, yeah. Yeah, I'm going to, how else do we say, I'm going to use you to get someone to like me. I'm going to, this is how money is seen. So how could money show up if that's how you see it? Because you wouldn't stay with someone on a date that said, you,'re never enough. You're the root of all evil? It's like, okay. So how would you like to be seen on a date? You'd like to be seen as I love you no matter what, no matter if you're small or big, if you're off or on, if you're feeling like, I love you all the way. And if you can look at your debt or have $1 in the bank and go, I love you, now you're creating a vibrational space for it to show up because you're safe, because your focus isn't on money and how it needs to change. you're much better off because you're on how you're going to change. And when you start changing like we just did and looking at these things and not needing to overcome as much as loving it, now you're focused on the thing that actually creates the money. Remember, every dollar you've ever made came from you. So don't get excited about money. Get excited about you.
Mmm.
Right?
Amazing.
Like, if I went on a hike with you, we get lost in the woods, I round a corner, I'm not with you and we find a waterfall. I find it you don't see it. I fill a cup up with water and I come back and I say to you, Dude, a cup of water. What am I not showing you? I'm showing you the small thing.
Yeah, not the waterfall.
Not where it came from.
The source.
The source of the water is the much more important thing. So none of us look at the source of where our money came from. We look at the money. So you're sitting here dwelling, not you, but people that we're dwelling on The cup of water.
-Yeah. Not us being the source of creating more.
-Every dollar you've ever made came from you. Get excited about you. Start the focus on what you are, not what money will give you.
-And your energy is going to attract or repel more wealth. A lot of... A mentor of mine said, I was at a salsa club learning how to salsa dance. terrified out of my mind and I saw a guy who was amazing, who was a public speaker. He actually got me into public speaking and he said, the world makes room for passionate people. I think money is attracted to passionate people as well. Because people are passionate about life, they bring an energy, they bring a richness of fullness, a richness and they attract riches.
Yeah.
Whether it be through the community or the art they're creating or the business they're creating.
Yes.
And you're going to start to attract.
Especially in this time, because I know there's people watching this go, well, what do you say about all the greedy billionaires and blah, blah, blah? And what I say is that's the old consciousness. In fact, we see through it and it's starting to crumble. So the old way of doing things selfish was a conscious shift because I believe in the 50s everyone was just like a factory worker working for... and then it was like this breakaway where an entrepreneurial boom happened. taking your focus off of the old story and moving into what you are and learning how your thinking changes things was the highest consciousness we understood at the time. So at that time that created this old consciousness of your focus, you know, changes it so you think positive, whatever, and that created it and then we keep going and take a good thing too far and then all of a sudden it's this billionaire thing. You can feel The most controlling mindsets crumbling. You can feel the suicides from the people that have made lots of money but see that it's not the answer. You can feel the people that are controlling other people. All the control, as the control fell in you during this interview, as you said goodbye to the old story and kind of loved it, all control in the world is starting to fall. And the old structures aren't working. And what will work in the new century and the new Future is the birth of this consciousness. This consciousness following your heart, you will not be able to make money just from massive achievement. It won't work. I'm telling you, it's going to be, we see through it, the consciousness sees through it, it's too small. When there's going to be a major influx of Martin Luther King's, Mr. Rogers, Oprah's, Wayne Dyer's, it's coming. because we're so repressed that our hearts are going to springboard like the Renaissance and there's going to be, you know what I'm saying?
That's true. You mentioned this a couple of times and it reminded me of another mentor of mine, Chris Hawker. I was working as an intern for him for about six months when I was on my sister's couch, broke, no money. My dad had just gotten into a car accident that left him in a coma for three months and he was kind of my safety net. he was my, you know, financial stability where he would support me financially on things. And he always said, you know, when you're done, like, living your dream and chasing your football career, whatever it is, you would only come work for me.
Wow.
He had an insurance company, life insurance, and I did the whole, like, insurance internship and did the testing, and I almost failed three times. I'm, like, getting my whatever it is, like the series something, whatever the life insurance test that I had to pass so I could sell life insurance. I should have stopped after I failed the first time because I just knew it wasn't for me, but I did it so I could have this backup plan.
Wow.
And so when my dad got in his accident, he had to sell his company to his partner because he was no longer able to work anymore. And I didn't have the financial stability like I had before. So I was sleeping on my sister's couch for a year and a half and I was working as an intern for about six months with someone that I was learning a lot from. And I remember at one point being like, Man, I just really want some money. I feel like I've been working hard for a few years. Like, I really could use some money. I'm not paying any rent money on my sister's. I feel like a loser because I can't contribute to her. I can't even get my own apartment. I'm just a loser. I was 24 at the time. I was like, Man, I'm just a loser of a guy. And he said something to me that, well, you said. He said, Money comes to you when you're ready for it. And I was like, I feel really ready. You know, I could really use the money right now.
And he goes, I didn't say desperate for it.
Exactly, we didn't say that, but he was like, it's gonna come to you when you're ready for it. And when it starts to come, it's gonna make sense. I was like, gosh, I just want it though. I just want it right now. And it's funny because maybe a year later, it started to come. And then it started to really come pretty quickly, like six months to a year after that. And I remember reflecting a year and a half prior, I was like, man, I wasn't ready for this. If this would have came two years prior, I would have blown it. I would have been scared of it. I wouldn't have been prepared for it. I would have been so freaked out by the numbers in my bank account, I would have sabotaged it probably. And so I really feel like it comes to you when you are prepared and ready, and sometimes it's not when you want it to be.
And when people say, How do you get prepared and ready?
That's the key. So how do you get prepared and ready?
So for me, meditation gets me to understand that I'm the abundance, not money. And the second you understand that you're the abundance, and I mean, understand it in your nervous system. I mean, don't just hear that sentence while you're still dying for it in your body. Like, really be in the alignment of understanding that I'm the abundance. Wayne Dyer said beautifully, you know, there's a thing that everyone thought, you don't attract that you attract what you want. And Wenddyer said, you don't attract what you want. You attract what you are, what you're in vibration of. So if you want abundance, you need to get to a place where you understand your abundance. And everything comes into your life. the second you finally don't want it. It's not, don't want it like avoiding, like you don't need it. -Not desperate, yes. -The second you stop looking for it, you don't even remember you wanted it. That's because you have to access the fulfillment of the connection to yourself first, and then weirdly it's going to create, first of all, so many creative things, but you're going to just start, first of all, you're so aware that you see things differently. Think of just the, Just that when someone's in their head, they're walking down the street on their phone worrying, you could pass a $100 bill and not even see it, right? But when you're not in your head, you suddenly start to see all these dots connecting and everything meaning something different. And you see every moment as meaningful. Like last night I was waiting to go into a restaurant, one guy recognized me and said hi and we created a friendship because he's also a musician, that's cool. And then this four-year-old girl comes in and just sees me and starts dancing in front of me and showing me her toys. And that moment was so much cooler than if I was looking through wondering, you know, what is going on in politics. And that was fulfilling that moment. And because that's fulfilling, and then on my way to the table, each step is fulfilling. Now this is more fulfilling than anything I perceive could come to me to make me happy. Once you actually have practiced understanding that this moment is more important than anything you think you want, now you are abundance, not money. And once you're abundance, it's impossible for it to not come. You're just gonna start feeling safe to everybody. They're gonna wanna hire you. You're gonna get bizarre offers. They'll just say, Can you help me through something? Can you create this thing? You'll get an alignment with your creative gifts more than your fix it gifts to make money. You'll be in this higher thing, you'll be worth more, better jobs will start asking you, you'll start to actually feel heavy when million dollar offers are coming in because you're like, even that I don't want. And then it just, every time I say no to something, even if it's a huge thing, the bigger thing comes up. It's like life's like, how about this? How about this? And then the only question I ask is, does this expand me or contract me? Ooh, yeah, that's good. Right? If it expands me, then I say yes and I can feel that within two seconds. If I get to a pros and cons list, I'm already in contracting. Do you get what I'm saying?
-Wow.
-So, a way that I always give an example is if you've ever had lunch, you ever have lunch plans with someone, and then you hope that they cancel.
-Yeah.
-Okay. That's your highest saying cancel. -Wow. -But you're used to living a notch below it, so you wait for them to do it. So, that's what I'm talking about is the highest, what expands me. So it expands, you know what expands me a lot? Is saying no to a lot of things. Isn't that so powerful?
Yeah.
Saying no, like, that's one of the.
Hardest things to learn how to do, but then it's one of the most freeing things when you're in that space.
Yeah, because there's times where you might think my highest is to go out and get late or party, but it's actually like, really sometimes my highest is to go to bed early. Sometimes, really my highest, like, it's not our highest to do what we're doing. Is it your highest to go on Facebook a hundred times a day?
No.
No, but we still do it. So we live second highest and we miss out on the universe. So for me it expands me to be in alignment with the universe in that moment.
How important is developing skills and value? There's one thing of being abundance and being acceptance and all these things, but there's another thing of like, okay, well the person still doesn't have any skills that are valuable for someone else to give them money.
So, you know what I mean? Crazy answer here? That's a belief that they need the skills. So let me explain that. So let's first of all talk about value. Value is perceived, right? Sure, and most people think value is what they're worth is based on what's in the bank, right? You could say that person's got a net worth of 20 million, whatever.
Cool.
That's nice. But there's some people that could lose that money and remake it again in 10 minutes. Like Tina Turner, if her bank account got robbed tomorrow, could just go on tour and fill it again.
Yeah.
Right?
Then there's some people who inherited it.
Yeah.
And won or won the lottery. And if that went away, they're still not valuable at that moment at least, right? So what's the cause of value? Is it how much money you have or is it what's under it?
Right?
And what you understand is under it. The factor of value is do you understand how valuable you are?
Right?
So how do you understand how valuable you are?
By creating the evidence of it, whether it's through leaps, whether it's so for me, when I started saying no to really tempting things, It would be really hard that moment. Like it'd be really hard. I remember when I was like, no dating for six months. And then like the Swedish bikini team's like even us. And you're like, no. That's a joke. I didn't turn down the Swedish bikini team. But when you start saying no, it might be hell in that moment. But the next day you wake up and you're like, now even I'm someone that can say no to that. Like now I'm elevating myself above that temptation. So if I'm someone who can say no to that, You feel the force in that? So that's one thing. So there's a lot of skills I believe that we might need but if they aren't your highest to do them, they're not a 10. And if they're not a 10, that affects all of what you do. My friend Glenn Morshower says if you pee in part of the pool, you pee in all the pool. So my company, my job in my company is to do this, is to go on stage, is to coach people, is to be the space to co-write the book, to make the movie. I don't do the accounting, right? I have no idea how to do the accounting. I don't give about the accounting, right? I don't do the wardrobe, I don't do any of that. But there are people who it is their 10 to do that. So I delegate that because if I did this thing that's a three energetically, then I'm gonna average and bring that onto the stage. My energy will be more depleted because I'm doing things in my life that are like that. Same thing, if you're out of alignment in whatever area, you're bringing that into all of it.
Yeah.
You get what I'm saying?
So true.
So.
That'S my answer to the skills thing because there's stuff that we're just natural at. And most of us disqualify what we're naturally good at because it hasn't been done before.
Right?
They go, why would anyone want, oh, just stay with it.
Right, right, right.
Because that thing you have is new, that thing you have is calling to you. And it might not make sense now, but so many people I've worked with are like, well, one thing I'm passionate about is this, but I can't seem like stop the second part. The yabbut's the old story. This thing you just said feels good to my body. Doesn't it feel well, yeah, but no one will make money. No, you're using the past story. Literally what this is, what we are, what we are is the universe trying to change the planet through you. The universe is trying to change itself to a higher consciousness through you. That's what's happening when we receive on a higher level. It's like higher level ideas come through. So when you meditate or whatever, you have an insight that's higher. That insight you go, it's exciting, but you can't make sense of it. You can't wrap your mind around it. Follow it. You're not supposed to wrap your mind around it. One thing people say is, I can't wrap my mind around it. You're not here to shove the infinite vastness of what you are into your teeny mind.
Right.
You're here to acclimate your mind to the vastness of what you are.
Zing.
That's the difference. You know, there's so many quotes that people say to insult people that live in their hearts, like, this person went off the deep end. The implication is the shallow end is better. This person went over their head. Yeah, I'm using my whole body.
Right.
Right?
Not staying in my head.
Are you out of your mind? You better believe it, I'm in my heart.
Exactly.
Right?
It's easier done than said. How about it's too big for your britches? You're too big for your britches. How about we change pants and adjust to me versus me shoving myself in my old britches. What are we in the 20s? All right, these old quotes that are every insulting quote, if you just reverse it, It's so funny how dumb it looks. Oh dude, you're out of your mind. You're right, you're in your head.
Right?
It's like you're thinking small. You better be out of your mind. I love to go over my head so I have to use my body.
Right?
Because just my small mind can't grasp these concepts we're talking about. But my body knows it. Like if you listen to this, you have to be listening from your body. You cannot listen from the small story.
That will make sense.
In fact, this is very offensive to the small story.
Right?
How dare he? I'm in this limitation and then and most of us instead of fighting for our freedom fight for our limitation.
Gosh.
Makes sense. Because that's a safe space, right? It's safe for being limited.
Totally. Well, ironically it's not. It's actually the most dangerous place.
But it seems safer.
Yeah, but it's more comfortable in that place.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I mean what we call a safe space could be an abusive relationship. It could be. It's just you're used to it. So because you didn't die, you go, that's safety. And everything that I've never seen before, I don't know that I won't die, so my body's scared of it. But the truth is, usually what the body's got is way better. And it will change your consciousness from here to here. And then you'll get this new calling once you're here to here.
Before the interview continues, if you feel like you're not living your most authentic life, not leaning into your purpose, and not living the life that your future self would be extremely proud of. What is your thoughts around the identity of money and the psychology of how it plays in our lives? Because a lot of people want to make more, they want to attract more, but they're just struggling with just the concept of it.
Yeah, well I think we've been programmed quite a bit with our relationship with money. We have a relationship with everything known in our environment. You have a relationship, a neurological network in your brain for your parents, for your cell phone, for your computer, where you live, where you've lived in the past, what you're going to do tomorrow. For the most part, the brain is a reflection of everything that we know. Along with that is our relationship with money. I feel like I have a really good relationship with money because I work on having a really good relationship with everything in my life.
Did you always have a good relationship with money?
I think so. I think so. I've never really lived in lack. That just wasn't part part of it. Even when I went to college and I had to take out student loans and stuff, I always figured out a way to always be a little bit ahead of the curve. And so, let's back up and just look at how people form beliefs. Because most beliefs are created from past experiences, right? So, children, when they're in their early ages, their brainwaves are very slow. Like, their brainwaves are in alpha, When they're like seven to 12, they're in theta, when they're like two to six years old, and they're in delta, like when they're newborn to two years old. And so these brainwave states are states that were really suggestible to information.
So when we hear information, we believe it.
And we accept it, we believe it, we surrender to it as if it's the truth without analyzing it, because there's no analytical facilities yet. The analytical mind starts around 12 or so, 7 to 12, and that analytical mind is actually what creates a barrier between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
So, before 12, roughly, what we see, how we model our parents' behavior, it's all programmed.
It's all being programmed subconsciously, right? And so, that's really, really important because if you heard money is the root of all evil, Money is bad. Only certain people are allowed to make money. You have to work hard to make money. This is how you got to do it. And that becomes the foundations subconsciously. Let's like recording an audio file. You just keep recording that audio file. It becomes a subconscious program, right? So, a lot of people have a relationship with money based on either what they've been told or what they've experienced in their outer environment, right? So then we gain information from our environment and the stronger the emotion we feel from experiences in our lives, the more altered we feel inside of us, the more the brain freezes a frame and takes a picture. And that snapshot is called the memory.
Based on an emotion.
Based on an emotion. The emotion alters our internal state. So you're going along, is Lewis feeling really good, and all of a sudden you have this you have this crisis, you have this shock, and all of a sudden you have this dramatic change in your internal state and your senses get heightened and then you freeze the frame and you associate this internal state with whatever it is that's causing it, right? And that's how we create long-term memories, right?
Are painful memories more powerful or beautiful memories more powerful?
They're both equal. They're both equal, but the problem is I think most people experience more the negative emotions, right? those negative emotions really are derived from the hormones of stress. The alarm system, the emergency system, creates an arousal inwardly. That arousal is saying there's something dangerous in your outer environment. It could be a person, a circumstance, an accident or whatever. That change in emotional state causes you to remember the event. You got to pay attention. You got to stay really and narrow your focus on the cause. Think about people who have relationships with money, right? From the past. All beliefs are based on past experiences. So you have an experience where you lose money, you have an experience where money's taken away from you, you have an experience where you don't have enough, you're living in a place where there's not enough money or a family that's not enough money, then the emotion that most people are living by on a moment to moment basis is lack. like I'm in lack of having something that I want. Now there's nothing wrong with that because the experience changes your emotional state. You freeze the frame, you take a picture. The problem is that's hardware. So we think neurologically within the circuits of that past experience and we feel chemically within the boundaries of that emotion, which would say, for example, be lack, right? So now the person says, Before you.
Go on to the next thing, what happens to the body and the mind when it is in an environment of lack, mentally or physically, I'm in lack. What is the body of the mind saying?
Yes, so the body is saying, I'm waiting for some external event to occur. I win the lottery. I marry the right guy. Whatever it is, that you're waiting for that event to occur, that experience produces an emotion. So the emotion then takes away the lack. And so when we play the game in three-dimensional reality, the creation game in three-dimensional reality, we experience separation from everyone or everything because our senses fool us into the illusion, the hallucination of separation. I'm here and you're there. I'm here and the door is over there. So I'm aware that I'm here at one point of consciousness and the door is over there, another point of consciousness. Okay, so in order for me to get from here to the door, I got to move my body and do something through space. I got to do something and everything in this three-dimensional reality is going to take time and energy. So, okay, so then here's Lewis right here. And then he says, okay, I want this experience in my future and your brain automatically predicts and projects how far in the future you think it's going to take.
Maybe it's a year, five years, 10 years.
30 years.
Oh my gosh.
Right?
Because that's what it's going to take to pay off that house, right? So now, One point of consciousness, I'm here, the other point of consciousness is where I'm placing my dream. So I mean separate from that experience. So then how do I get to that experience? In three-dimensional reality, you got to get up and you got to do something. You got to go to work, you got to drive to work, it takes energy, you got to fill your car with gas, you got to eat food, you got to work, you know, all this stuff, you got to sleep, you got to recover if there's stress. And now people are, in a sense, waiting for the experience that's 10 years down the road or 30 years down the road to happen to take away the lack of them not having it. And unfortunately, many times when the experience finally occurs, they can't enjoy it because they're too exhausted, right? So then, so you play the game, you go to school, you study really hard or you study on your own, you develop some skills, you make the right choices, you start saving money, you start learning from your mistakes, and then the game the game is how many things can you accumulate and that accumulation then you associate with being wealthy or being abundant or being successful, right? And some people get really good at it, right? You can get really good at that. But for the most part though, when we create from three-dimensional reality, we're creating from lack and separation. In other words, you're driving down the road and see someone driving a car that all of a sudden you realize that you don't have. The moment you become aware that that person has that car and you don't have it, you're in lack. of having it, right? So what the brain naturally does is it naturally creates you driving that car and you have an image of yourself driving that car and you start identifying, wow, that would be a greater experience for me to have. The problem is the distance between the thought of what you want and the experience of actually happening for most people is the concept called time, right? Between cause and effect, right? So some people develop the ability to manage themselves and manage their life, they've got certain skills and they can pay for it and they can get it very quickly. The problem is when the novelty of that experience wears off, you know, the car and they're no longer identifying with that and the feeling of emptiness and lack comes back.
They need to find something else.
They gotta go find something else. And so there's this game that goes on where you never have enough, right? And that's the lack game, right? So then if you think about people having the things they want in their life, When they create from lack and separation, it's the experience in three-dimensional reality that produces the emotion and the emotion is saying, let's feel that experience this thing that you've been in lack and separation from and that emotion then takes away the lack or separation. But you've worked really hard to get it. Okay. Nothing wrong with that. Is there another way to do it?
Yes.
Okay. So the person who's living in lack is waiting for their wealth to feel abundant. They're waiting for their success to feel empowered. They're waiting for their healing to feel gratitude. They're waiting for their new relationship to feel love. They're waiting for their mystical experience to feel awe. That's the Newtonian model of reality of cause and effect, waiting for that event to happen to take away this separation or lack. Nothing wrong with it. It's the way most people create. but what we've discovered is actually something else. The moment you feel gratitude, your healing begins. The moment you feel worthy and abundant, you're generating wealth. The moment you're empowered, you are moving towards your success. The moment you're in love with yourself and you're in love with life, you'll create an equal. The moment you are in awe of life, you're going to have a mystical experience. And so, that's causing an effect, right? So then if you can teach people then how to create instead of from lack or separation, but create from wholeness and create from what we call the quantum field instead of three-dimensional reality.
What's the difference?
Okay, so the way you first of all, it takes knowledge. Okay, the quantum field is an invisible field of energy that exists beyond our senses. You can't see it, you can't smell it, you can't taste it, you can't hear it, you can't feel it. It exists beyond our experience of three-dimensional reality.
Would this be in our mind's consciousness or would this be in a different space?
Okay, let's look at that. So the answer to the question is how much of your waking day do you put your attention on matter, on the material world, and how much of your waking day are you aware of energy and frequency. For most people, they're unaware of the quantum field. And if you're unaware of it, it doesn't exist for you. Just like you have a nose, but if you're unaware of it, it doesn't exist for you. The moment you become aware of it, it exists. Well, the quantum field, you can ask, you can study all kinds of science, and they'll tell you there is this invisible field of frequency and energy that exists beyond the senses that tend to connect everything physical and material. In fact, everything physical and material is connected to this field. Okay? So how do you get there?
Right?
How do you get there? How do you get there? So we discovered that when you take all of your attention off your body and you are not paying attention to your emotions, your drives, your habits, if you could take all of your attention off of every element in your environment, your cell phone, your tablet, your computer, your car, your whatever it is, your bed. Take your attention away from everything, every place that you live, where you sleep, or you work, and you're not thinking about time. You're not thinking about your schedule, where you need to be, or what happened yesterday. You can relax into the present moment. There tends to be a dramatic change in the way the brain functions when people do this properly. We call it getting beyond yourself, but in a sense, you're dissociating from your three-dimensional reality. Why? Because if you're thinking about anything in your three-dimensional reality, that's where your attention is and that's where your energy is. We kind of figured out this formula when people really become nobody, no one, no thing, nowhere, no time. We are pretty much all of a sudden outside the constraints of the Newtonian world of Gotta do something to get an outcome. And if you can teach people how to linger there without a name, without a face, without a profession, without a family, without a culture, without a past, without a disease, you teach them how to be in this place we call the unknown, right? And you teach them that from that place, that invisible field, is where everything material comes from. And if they could create coherence in their brain, you need a strong signal in the brain, the more coherent the brain, the more stronger the signal.
What do you mean a strong signal?
Okay, let's see how I could say this. When most people, we look at brains in real time and we're looking at people's, how their mind is working. When you're under stress, stress is created by not being able to predict something that's going to happen in your life, the perception that something's going to get worse or you can't control something. When that occurs, we switch on that primitive nervous system called the fight or flight nervous system and the brain goes into this very alarmed state called high beta. That means pay attention to the outer world, there's danger out there. But if it's not a predator and it's traffic or your co-worker or your ex, this is where it gets to be a problem because it becomes very maladaptive, right? So when we're in that state and the brain is in that aroused state, we try to control and predict everything. So every person, every object, everything, every place, even your body has a neurological network in your brain, right? So as the arousal happens, we start shifting our attention to all these elements and like a lightning storm in the clouds, the brain starts firing very, very incoherently. And when the brain's incoherent, we're incoherent.
That's not a strong signal.
That's not, it's a static on the wire. That's disconnection. There is no signal.
Right.
So when we're in that state, we're always really looking for the worst case scenario of what's going to happen because if you prepare for the worst, anything less happens a better chance of survival, right? So in this kind of aroused state, as we shift our attention to each one of these elements that are known in our environment, the brain starts compartmentalizing and firing out of order. And that is what creates what's called autonomic dysregulation. That causes the brain and body to get really out of balance, right? So in that state, we're over focused. You know, when you're stressed, you're over focused on something. You can't stop thinking about it. Our research shows that when you do that, you actually make your brain worse because you're analyzing your problems within some disturbing emotion and that emotion is driving you further out of balance. You're actually knocking your brain and body out of balance by thought alone and you're driving it into these more aroused states, right?
For someone that's been living like that for decades, that's their base state. How do they even realize how to get out of that?
They don't usually, it takes crisis, right? It takes trauma.
Extreme breakdown.
A loss, a death, a breakup, a divorce, a near bankruptcy, whatever it is, a disease, a diagnosis, whatever. Something where you just can't go on business as usual.
Now it's time to really start looking.
They have to wake up, though.
Yeah.
So let's get back to the concept of abundance here.
We need a strong signal in this field. Right.
So then if you can teach people to do the exact opposite, go from putting all of their attention on everything physical and material in the world of separation, and instead of narrowing their focus on something material, ask them to broaden their focus and put it on nothing. I know that sounds kind of crazy, but when you put your attention on space and you divert your attention, the act of sensing without thinking actually starts to slow the brain waves down. Not only slow it down, but all of a sudden cause the brain to start reintegrating, starts to synchronize, right? And so you see different compartments of the brain that were firing out of order start to resonate. They start to communicate. They're all of a sudden synchronizing and what syncs in the brain kind of links in the brain. So when a person has their whole entire brain firing in rhythm, that's a very strong signal that you can send out into the field.
So when that signal is strong in that position, what can you create from that space?
Okay, so but that's only one element.
Okay.
So then the clear intention tends to be a very important element that we have to have to get down and the more coherent the brain, the more clear the signal for that intention. So with intention and attention, we could actually make thought more real than anything else. Now, what is that? You're saying what would it be like to be wealthy? What would it be like to be abundant? What would it be like to have all my needs met? What would it be like to have more than I need? What would I do if I had everything I ever wanted? The answer always is the same. You start giving stuff away. Because if an abundant person is truly abundant, why would they hold on? They would say, I'm not in lack. There's more for everybody. Turns out, though, that the signal sent out isn't enough. You've got to have to draw the experience back to you.
So, sending a signal out to, you.
Know, It's coherent brain.
Financial freedom, all these different things.
Right, right. Whatever that is for you. Whatever that is for you.
Putting that out there, right, signal that with the intention and the attention. And then how do you draw it so that it's in the physical world?
In the physical world, you gotta go get it. You gotta do something. This is the plane of demonstration. You gotta go get it and when you're in lack until it occurs.
So what I'm hearing you say is.
There'S a way to not chase but attract. Alright, so if you're creating from the field instead of from matter, there's a very strong possibility that you'll shorten the distance between the thought of what you want and the experience of having it. and when there's a vibrational match between your energy and that future that you want to experience, now if you're creating from the field, you actually don't go anywhere to get it. You actually draw it to you. So here comes the synchronicities, the serendipities, the coincidences, the opportunities, and they come out of nowhere. And you say, I don't understand. I didn't do anything. changed your energy. And so then the other element is a coherent heart, right? And the heart has a magnetic signature. And the magnetic signature is what draws reality to us, right? So you combine that clear intention with a coherent brain. Now here's the key. This takes practice because the person who's living in lack is usually unworthy, is usually insecure, is usually in their past, they're usually frustrated, they're usually impatient, they're usually resentful because nothing's changing out there because it's taking too long. Everything takes a lot of time when do matter to matter, right? So then if you teach them, okay, we know all about that. We know the story behind that. We know what your parents told you about money, all that other stuff. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. But now let's do something that would be really cool. Let's write down the feelings of how you would feel if that future happened and you're going to have to feel that feeling before it occurs. So now, okay, what does an abundant person feel? Pretty much free, a lot of freedom.
Peace, excited, joyful.
In love with life, grateful. to be alive, abundant. Okay, now let's practice feeling those. Turns out when you're feeling those other emotions like resentment and impatience and frustration, you're stepping on the gas pedal, you're turning on the sympathetic nervous system and you're stepping on the brake at the same time, which is angry, you're frustrated, but the fight or flight nervous system says run, fight or hide and you're sitting in a Zoom meeting and you're neck is pulsating is because the heart is beating against the closed system, right? You're not using it in an adaptive way. So the heart starts firing out of order. It starts firing incoherently and incoherent waves cancel each other out. It's called destructive interference and then we stop trusting our future. Energy leaves the heart.
When you control from the inside, like we're in control of ourself, we're in control of our world. So it doesn't matter what happens, you figure out how to get to where you're going. The goals don't change, sometimes the methods of getting there do, but I have never, I think probably I had great teachers. I had a half a dozen phenomenal mentors, and I think I was raised the right way. You stay in control regardless, you know.
Yeah.
What would you say are some of the habits that you have that people wouldn't expect that you would have. Maybe they would expect certain things like waking up early or journaling or, you know, getting eight hours of sleep. But what are some habits that you do differently that maybe are unexpected in the personal growth space?
I study every day. Every day. I've studied every day now for 60 years. I started to study this book in 1961. and I read it every day. Same book, Think and Grow Rich. I have just here behind me, I've got the laws of success, the original ones that Napoleon Hill wrote in 1928. And then he came out with this in 1937. And the man that gave it to me, he said, if you'll study this every day, he said, you're going to have a wonderful life. And he pointed out, Napoleon Hill spent his whole life studying the lives of 500 of the world's most successful people. He was mentored by Andrew Carnegie, who at the time was the wealthiest man in the world. And he said, since he spent his whole life putting this together, he said it would be a prudent move on your part if you spent the rest of your life trying to understand and apply what he is teaching. And you know, that just seemed to make some sense to me. And that's what I started to do, and I've never stopped.
If there was only one principle inside of Think and Grow Rich that you could only live by and only talk about, and you wouldn't be able to talk about anything else inside the book, what would that one principle be?
Persistence. He said in the book, he said, There may be no heroic connotation to the word, but the quality is to the character of the human, like what carbon is to steel. see, I think the trick, Louis, is get some good habit patterns and live with them all of your life because you're either going to grow or you're going to die. It's. It's create or disintegrate. There's no such thing as leveling out and staying where we are. And some people think they can just hold it where they're at, but they can't do that. You're either going to go ahead or you're going to go backwards. It's create or disintegrate. and so if you have good habits, you're going to keep growing way back, I think around 1938-39, Albert E. N. Gray worked for the Prudential and he wrote the Common Denominator of Success. It's a great article. And he said the common denominator of success is informing the habit. of doing things that failures don't like to do. And he was speaking one time, a young guy said, why do successful people like doing these things? And he said, they don't. That's why they've turned them into habits. I thought that was beautiful. That's why they've turned them into habits. They don't like doing them. You see? And of course, a habit is something we do automatically without any conscious thought. We just, it's part of our paradigm. We're programmed.
What do you think are the three most difficult habits to develop that actually will support us for the most growth long term if we can take these habits on?
One of the things I think the most difficult is repetition of studying the same thing. I have a, A book here on my desk. It's in a book holder. And when I went to visit Earl Nightingale way back, 1968, no, it was earlier than that, it was around '66. And I saw he had this book stand on his desk and I asked him what it was. He said it was a book holder. And I said, why do you have it? He says, I want to read those two pages. every day for the next month, maybe two months. I said, really? The same thing. And he said, yeah. He said, then they'll become a part of me. And he said, that's really the secret of success is repetition of an idea. You see that in sports, you play ball. I mean, it's definitely part of your game, you know? How many plays would you have in your head?
Whoo.
Well, a lot of different plays, but in football, there's really only like nine different routes a receiver can run.
Yeah.
That's part of the tree of running a route. But there's so many different variations within plays that that one receiver could run, and then another person could run in tandem with that.
Yeah.
So you have to, there's a massive playbook that you go through at the beginning of the season, and you've got to remember a lot of different things. But if you typically know the route you need to run and what other people are doing around you, then you can figure it out.
But it's repetition that enables you to do that, isn't it?
Over and over and over and over and over. You see, it's the same route over and over.
That doesn't just apply to football. I think that applies to life. And if a person really understands that, it's through repetition that you program your subjective mind. and it's your subjective mind that controls your behavior. It doesn't make sense to some people, but if they would study it and start to understand it, they would start to do it.
What's the most important thing on those two pages that you have open in front of you?
Most important thing here, read it to you. The lesson to be learned from the practical aviation of the present day is that of triumph of principle over precedent. of working out of an idea to its logical conclusion in spite of the accumulated testimony of all past experiences to the contrary. With such a notable example before us, can we say that it is futile to inquire whether by the same method we may not unlock still more important secrets and gain some knowledge of the unseen causes which are the back of external and visible conditions. And then by bringing these unseen causes into a better order, make practical working reality of possibilities which at present seem but fantastic dreams. They're talking about the Wright brothers. He said there was a secret they got off the ground because nobody knew how to fly, and neither did they until after they got it in the air. But he pointed out that it was principle over precedent. And we let precedent control us too often.
What's the difference between principle and precedent?
Well, precedent, you're letting something that has happened in the past control you. The principle is that there's always a better way. It doesn't matter what you're doing, better is a beautiful word.
What's something in your life that took a long time where you were holding on to the precedent of something for a while? Maybe it was months, maybe it was years, decades that eventually the principle finally started to fly and you had a breakthrough. Is there an area of your life you can think of?
Oh, absolutely, absolutely. Just as soon as you said it, yeah. you see, when I started in this, when I first got this book.
I.
Was such a loser. And I mean, in every, everywhere you look at it, I. I went to high school for two months, and I didn't quit. They kicked me out. They didn't want me there. And I was kind of happy because I didn't like it there anyway. I held dumb jobs. I never had a half decent job. The idea that I could even get a good job never entered my mind. I had such low self-esteem. I didn't understand that at the time. I didn't even know what self-esteem was.
And.
Letting go of the fact that I didn't have a formal education, that I never had any business experience.
The.
Man that gave me the book, he said, none of that matters, Bob. That's the past. He said, let it go. Well, I had a difficult time letting that go because we're programmed that if you don't go to school, you can't get a good job. That if you're going to earn a lot of money, you've got to be really smart. Well, you see, I didn't think I was very smart and I didn't have any formal education. That's a hard thing to let go of. But through the repetition of studying this over and over and over, and as he pointed out to me, Edison had grade three, and he pointed out different people that had no formal education. And I finally made a break, left it behind. I'm not quite sure exactly when.
But.
I let it go. Yeah.
What would you say are some deciding factors that can help someone with their self-esteem? Because you and I are very similar where my childhood, I didn't have much confidence in myself or esteem because I was in the bottom of my class in school because I was had tutors and special needs classes because I just wasn't able to understand it and comprehend that well and felt awkward and goofy in my life. What are some things you think people that in their teens or even in their 40s and 50s who don't have confidence yet, what are the things that we can be doing differently to gain confidence, to build self-esteem? Because I think this is one of the key factors of success is believing in yourself. It doesn't matter if the world believes in you, if you don't believe in you. What can we start to do to change that?
Well, I think a person has to start to study themselves. Most people know very little about themselves. They think they're their body. You're not a body. You have a body and you have a marvelous mind. And when I first started to study this, I thought, you know, studying the mind, that's for psychiatrists, psychologists, behavioral scientists. And the man that told me, he said, no, it's not. He says, that's for anybody. that's for little kids. And so I think as we start to understand something about our mind and something about our higher faculties, see we're all programmed to live through our senses. We go by what we see, hear, smell, taste, touch. Well, I've got a little dog at home that you can see here, smell, taste, touch. All the animals in the world, they're completely at home in their environment. They blend in. We operate by instinct, which is perfect. We had instinct removed and we had higher faculties put in their place. And if we would study these and gain an understanding, your self-image would automatically start to improve. You have perception, the will, reason, imagination, memory, and intuition. those six faculties will give you the ability to create your own environment. See, we're totally disoriented in our environment, where all the other little creatures are completely at home in theirs. And we're disoriented in ours because we can create our own, but we don't know that. School doesn't teach us that. School is more interested in the development of your intellect than in the development of awareness. A person doesn't earn $100,000 a year because they want 100 a year. They earn 100 a year because they're not aware of how to earn 100 a month. Awareness is really the key. And when we become aware of who we are and what we've got working for us, marvelous things start to happen to us. And that's really what happened to me. I never went back to school. I built a very successful company. It operates all over the world. I didn't do it myself. I have a tremendous team of people. I've got just an absolute genius of a business partner. A woman who's an attorney, I mentioned to you before, you should have her on sometime. You'd be fascinated with her. She's that interesting. But it was a group of people, we've attracted a phenomenal group of people in our company. And we're operating now in 91 countries.
Wow.
Teaching this information. I don't know another company that teaches what we teach. I think Tony Robbins has probably done more for our industry than any individual. The secret has probably done more for it as much as Tony has, the movie. But there's, I don't know anybody else teaching what we're teaching. And what we're really doing is teaching people how their mind functions and.
How.
To expand their understanding of how it operates.
What are the six faculties again? You shared this before, which I love, and I think if people really understood this, perception, helped them build their self image.
There's perception, the will, imagination, memory, Reason and intuition.
Which one is the hardest for people to...
I don't think any of them are...
Awareness.
They're all equally valuable. You take your imagination... Think of this for a minute, Louis. Nothing is created or destroyed. Look here, here's a little cell phone. what you can do with this almost blows your mind when you think of it.
Yeah.
Well, when I was a kid, we didn't have a phone. We didn't have a phone because we didn't have any money for the first reason. But the second, not everybody could have a phone. We were not aware that there was an infinite number of frequencies today. There's what a zillion phones because there's an infinite number of frequencies. This phone is on its own frequency. Yours, it's on its own frequency. If I have your number in here and I hit send, you and I connect, we're on the same frequency. Won't matter where you are. We can see each other, we can communicate because we get on the same frequency. Well, the good that we desire is already here, it's on a frequency. The way to build this has always been here, we weren't aware of it. But somebody took their imagination and went off into no place. What they were really doing is going on to a higher frequency. And if you'll stay on that frequency, you'll attract everything that you require. That's why Dr. Wernher von Braun, when President Kennedy asked him, what it would take to build a rocket that would carry a man to the moon and then bring him back safely to earth, von Braun said the will to do it. The will is the mental faculty that gives you the ability to hold one idea on the screen of your mind to the exclusion of all outside distractions. See, if you take your imagination Do it. You have goals. Take your imagination and then take yourself there. See yourself already have completed the goal. And then hold that picture with your will. When you go there with your imagination, there is a place. Whatever it is you want, you went there with your imagination, there is a place. You stay there in your imagination. you will attract everything that's required for the manifestation of that picture. You saw Brady doing it last Sunday.
Yeah, it's a machine.
Yeah. Absolutely phenomenal.
So holding the imagination, the picture that you want in your mind and then attracting it on the steps to get.
Yeah, you see. We don't work toward the goal, we work from the goal. You get the goal in your mind. Our problem is we measure everything on the physical. And you look at the physical and you say, well, I haven't got it yet. If you think your conscious mind, if you get an image there of your goal, you've already got it intellectually. if you didn't have it, you couldn't share it with me. But if you have it, you can share it with me. You can share with me the idea that you've got in your mind. So you've already got it there, haven't you?
Right.
As you get emotionally involved with that idea, you've got it also on an emotional level. You've got it there. You've got it intellectually. You've got it emotionally. The only place you haven't got it is physically. Now, there's a period of time must elapse for that idea that you have intellectually and emotionally for that idea to move into physical form. We understand how much time. Pardon?
How much time does it usually take?
We don't know. We don't know. That's the only thing we don't know is the gestation period for an idea. We know what the gestation period is for wheat. We know what it is for a carrot. We know what it is for a baby. Moment of conception is about 280 days. We didn't always know these things, but we do now. We don't know what the gestation period is for a spiritual seed, and that's what an idea is. But it grows by exactly the same law. And so if we hold that idea in our mind, it must by law manifest in form. It moves into form. Now that is called the perpetual transmutation of energy. It's one of the laws of the universe.
Wow.
There was something that you shared.
Just.
A moment ago that reminded me of an interview I did with Joe Dispenza recently where he said we're really good at remembering the past and actually building a story in our mind about something traumatic that was actually way worse in our mind than it actually probably was in person. We're really good at remembering these stories. But what we need to do, he said, is to remember the future. And when he said that, it kind of triggered something different. It's like what you just shared. It's like have an idea of the future, of what we want to manifest and hold on to that idea and remember the memories of the future as opposed to holding on to the memories of the past. So we can move into that as opposed to be stuck in the past.
That's totally what you're saying. That's what that is.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
That's.
That's.
And it's hard.
Why is it so hard?
Why is it hard for us to hold on to, or maybe not hold on to, but keep in our minds and imagine the idea of a greater future for us, as opposed to constantly being stuck in the past? Why is that hard for so many of us?
Because we're programmed to go the other way. You know, what language do you speak?
I barely speak English.
How about Russian?
Privyet, cagdela. That's all I know.
Well, the point is you were raised with the English language.
Yes.
You don't know another language. I was raised with the English language. I don't know another language. I was working with people over in Kuala Lumpur a number of years ago and they had a little boy, four years old. That little boy could speak four languages. They thought nothing of that. There's people speak many more than four languages because that's the way they're raised. We're the product of our environment from the time we're born. But prior to that, genetically we're programmed. You're genetically programmed at the moment of conception. You get all mom's DNA and all dad's DNA. And God knows how far it goes back on either side. Well, that is programming, that's in our subconscious mind. And that's called a paradigm. That's what it is. It's a program in our subconscious mind. Now here's the crazy part. You have programs in your phone or in your computer. The people that write the code for these programs are really smart when it comes to writing code. They really know what the hell they're doing. The people that wrote the code for our biocomputer had no idea what the hell they were doing. They don't. They did not. They were writing a code for my subconscious mind and for yours, that's our paradigm, and that probably controls our life to an enormous degree. It did with me until I was 26. Now I was fortunate When I met Ray Stanford and he got me into the Think and Grow Rich book and that led me into God knows what else. I have been working at changing that program since I was 26. I'm 86 right now. So I've been at it for a long time and I work at it every day. Most people don't even know that they have the problem. So they stay stuck their whole life. Listen, you interview some pretty interesting people. I watched the interview here a billionaire a while ago.
Which one?
I forgot. I forgot who it was.
Anyway, Ray Dalio, Charles Koch, it was.
A pretty interesting interview anyway. But the point is, anybody can become a billionaire if that's what you want to do. You say, well, wouldn't everybody? No, everybody wouldn't. I wouldn't want to put all my energy into that. Now, does that mean I don't want money? No, hell, I earn all kinds of money. And I probably want to earn more, but that's not my focus. We are programmed to live a certain way. And rarely do we change that. Now I change it and I teach people to change it, but most people don't. Stop and think of how few people are really well off, 3-4-5% maximum, if that. And 95% are struggling. And some of these are really bright people. You've got people that have a, a doctorate degree in commerce and finance, and they're broke. How the hell could that happen? Well, they never learned how to earn money. They learned how to count it, invest it, and what to do with it. They never learned how to earn it. School doesn't teach us how to earn money.
I mean, if you could predict, obviously no one knows, but how do you think there's going to be a bigger recession or some type of crash in some way in the US economy or in the world? and when do you think that will happen?
I see, I already feel it in 2023. So, you think next year? Next year. Because a lot is going to happen with the US election and also the potential conflict in China and Taiwan and also the gas shortage and everything. And also so many tons of.
Food.
Is wheat is stopped at the port of the grain.
Really?
Which could cause a starvation in African countries. So we're going to see a lot of chaos in the next few months.
Really?
Yeah.
And we're going to experience a lot of gas shortage in European countries, which they're thinking about because the gas stopped coming to Germany. So a lot of change is going to happen. in the next few months?
For everyone listening and watching right now, what would be the next three steps they should take after listening or watching to this around their invisible assets, their visible assets, or just the next three steps they should take in life to prepare for this?
Right.
So mentally, you have to be ready to find your peace of mind so you can start counting your blessings, start appreciating what you have and enjoy the flow of happy money. So when money comes in, you can say thank you for the money given to me. When you pay for the bills, thank you, I have enough abundance so I can pay the bills and start blessing people that you're giving money to. So by doing that, you can find your peace of mind.
Yes.
And whatever you do, I think that's the basic.
That's number one.
That's the base. And also, secondly, you have to start figuring out your inventory, what you have and who you are.
What type of inventory?
Both emotional and also your gift. I never knew I could write until I was 33.
Really?
My parents were so surprised and my brother and sister, and many of my friends were so surprised that I became an author. And I was the one who gets the prize most, by the way. So I didn't know until I started writing. So I'm sure they have some kind of gifts buried in you. For example, Luis, you are an athlete, so definitely you knew your gift as an athlete. But probably you didn't know that you had a gift as an interviewer.
No, I had no idea.
Speaker.
Yeah. Writer. I had no idea.
Writer, right. And also somebody who can motivate people.
Right.
You know, you use it for you to motivate yourself, but you didn't know you can impact millions of people.
I had no idea.
Right.
So, like, when you are young in your 30s and 40s, you never knew. And so you have to start looking at.
Sure.
What you have, what skills, tools that.
You have developed, right, which you could use if you need to. Yeah.
And you have to multiply them because only single gift It's not taking you far. But if you can multiply your gifts of speaking, for example, and also listening and a sense of humor and the care generosity, if you combine all of them, you become so unique.
Yes.
So once you become so unique, people start just coming to you because you are more attractive.
Right.
Yeah.
So that's number two is find out your inventory of your assets and your gifts. And I'm also assuming your inventory of like how much money you have, your investments, what you-- But it's not so important.
Because if you are not making much, it's not right.
What skills do you have? Skills, yeah.
Right. So if you, net asset is less than $300,000, don't worry about investing. I think you should invest in yourself.
Invest in you.
And take your friends out for dinner, because it's going to pay more dividends.
Be generous with your energy, your time, your gifts.
Yes. And then the third step would be start getting support from everybody. You know, I have say, for example, more than 10,000 people sending me money every month as a form of subscription online salon.
Yes.
So, and I haven't promised anything to do for them. So it's just a love money. So can, you know, this is what type of money? Love money.
Love money.
Yeah.
So 10,000 people pay you money every month.
Yes.
Just because they love you.
Yeah, $10. That's how I feel.
Wow. Are you offering them any? Are you giving them any?
I can say, I had this funny interview with Lewis today, and I'm in Stockholm, and sent some videos, but I'm not promising, like, I do this, you know, so I give you this, so give me this.
Right, right.
No, it's more of a casual thing. That's cool. So I have enough trust from people, so the happy money, almost like is given, in my custody so I can help other people.
That's cool.
So if you start getting fan clubs or cheerleader, cheer supporters, so you can start with five people and you can start having 10 people, 30 people. So the next economy will be very interesting because a lot of people support one another. So instead of working for one big company, say I have 300 people supporting me. Say, and you can increase your monthly support money, say $100 per month. If I get a support from 30 people, $100 a month, that's $3,000. And if you get 50 people who are supporting you with $100, you already have a $5,000 income. So, whatever you do, you don't have to be the next entrepreneur of the world. you can satisfy it, or at least you can have deep connection with 50 people or 100 people who love you so much and who's not gonna let you down when you fall. So if you have that strong trust from people, you don't have to worry about money for the rest of your life.
Wow. What should be financial goals that people create for themselves? Should they have financial goals?
I don't think financial goal is necessary. If you want to buy a big house, you may need to have that.
Sure.
But.
Financial goals people come up with, it's because they want to feel safe, sense of security. So you don't need to have a goal of $1 million because when you reach $1 million, you feel like this is enough.
I need more, right?
I need two. And when you reach two millions, No, no, no.
I think I should... 10.
Yeah, 10. So instead, what I would recommend is once again get support from 50 people. And at the same time, if you can, imagine a joint account with your wealthiest acquaintance. You can think of me. For me, I think of my mentor, Joaquín Takeda, or Warren Buffett. Think about your imaginary joint account. And when something bad happens, you can withdraw as much money as you want.
Really?
So, this fun illusion, you know, like imagination.
What does that do for you when you have that imagination?
You feel that you're not alone. And if you're lucky, like I, when I was young, I had three millionaires who endorsed me saying, can You can do whatever you want. And if you fail, I'm gonna support your life for the rest of my life.
Man, does that happen in Japan a lot?
I think I heard a few Americans who experienced the same thing. So just imagine if you get that sense of security, you know, Louis, I'm gonna just keep you afloat. as long as I live.
Wow.
And so go for it. Okay.
I'll text you if I need you, Cam.
Yeah.
So if you get an endorsement from wealthy people like that, that's cool. You don't have to worry about it. Just imagine.
How does someone get an endorsement from someone who has a lot of money like that? What can they do?
I think you have to live your life purposes. That's another subject. But if you are living your life purpose, a lot of people support you.
It's so true because when I see someone who's coming up in business in their early 20s or something and I see that they have a gift and they're using the gift consistently to create some type of value for the world, I notice it. I see it. I'm like, you,'re doing an amazing job. You know, I'll reach out and message people and say, I love what you're doing, keep it up. And I think even just doing that, showing people, Hey, you're doing a great job, gives them encouragement to keep going. whether you're giving them money or not, but that's something you can do. And I think that's, it's hard to see that when someone's not using their gifts.
Right.
You're not gonna endorse someone if they're just like, everything is against me, the world is challenging, and I don't care about life. But when someone says, I'm gonna take a risk, I'm going to use my gift and put myself out there, that's inspiring. In your book, which I love, by the way, again, I want to get this book, Happy Money. You talk about, I think you use a concept called money magnet or humans are like magnets for money. And some people, it doesn't matter if you are a good person or a bad person. You have an analogy in the book where you say, if a rock is falling, it doesn't care who it hits. It could hit a good person or a bad person. Gravity is pulling that rock to the ground and it's going to hit whoever it hits, right, based on where they're at. And you also talk about how most people think that it's not fair when they see someone bad or mean or greedy making all the money. Can you just talk about this concept of being a money magnet and how someone could become more of that?
So, once again, you know, we experience life according to our beliefs. And some people have better luck than others. And some people work so hard, but they're getting minimum wages. So, you have to find your place, your seat, your reserved seat is what I call. A lot of people try to sit on other people's seat. Which is wrong because your seat is reserved somewhere else. And if you don't see it on other people's seat, what happens is that you get so depressed. And then you feel so meaningless, you know, so and all that. Because you cannot really feel life. But once you sit on your seat, you are so deeply connected with your life purpose. Then you start your magnetism stats gets turned on.
So how does someone know where their seat is and know how to sit in it and be happy with their seat?
Yeah.
So the only thing is ask your heart what your heart tells you. If you're excited about it, you're going closer. And so like, it's like hot or cold, right? So if you feel more excited about doing this, this is it, this is it, this is it. So you have to have your heart guide you where you're supposed to be. So always listen to your heart, and then if your heart gets excited about a certain thing, you're just getting closer to your seat.
Do you have a meditation or affirmation process for someone on how they can trust their heart, listen to their heart deeper to know they're on the right path. Right. Do you have something that you. You use yourself or that other people can use?
Yeah.
So I always try to have a few minutes. Say you're waiting for a car, you know, a Uber or just waiting for something. I find a few moments and then just try to find my Center. you know, and then I just go deeper and figure out where I want to go and just listen to my heart. What does my heart say? Am I excited about this or not? Am I trying to get money? So I'm not excited, but I have to do this to bring money on the food on the table. So I always check what my heart tells me.
You're always listening to it. What happens when your heart is not excited? Let's say you have a project you're working on. I'm assuming all of your books you're excited about, but maybe there's an event you're supposed to go to or I don't know, something that you said yes to. And you realize your heart is not excited about this. What do you do then? Do you do it, but then you don't repeat it the next time? Or how do you navigate that?
So I want to be a nice person, And so once I said yes, I would do it. But I try to be very careful with what I say when I say yes. So I have a great team. They'll just check.
Yeah, yeah, they'll check.
Because I want to be nice to everybody, so I'm likely to say yes too many times. So my secretary and my team says, Ken, are you sure about this? Yeah, probably not. So can you come up with something?
Well, I'm glad you're here. -We rescheduled this interview.
-Yeah, but in general, I'm trying to listen to my heart. -That's good. -That let me hear.
-I think a lot of people don't understand the power of a daily affirmation or a daily check-in with yourself, just like you talked about for two minutes. For someone that doesn't believe in affirmations, what would you say to them?
-So, even if you don't believe it, you must be saying something. to yourself. This is a terrible day. It's so hot. I don't like this. Subconsciously, you're saying something about your life or about yourself, about your friends or about your clients. Well, I hate working with this person. Something like that. I think it's a affirmation by itself. Just to write down what are the things that you say to yourself. subconsciously, you can probably figure out. And is that a happy thought? And then unfortunately, a lot of the things that we talk to ourselves are negative.
Yes.
So do you want to feed negative thoughts like this, or do you want to pour more positive thoughts? You have a choice. But unless you write them down, you never know it. And then you may find that the reason why you get depressed, because I'm getting negative thoughts about life. No wonder I feel depressed. So if all the things you talked about you, positive and loving, it's what you get.
Yeah, exactly. And can you tell me how we can think about money as energy? In the book also, I saw you writing about how money is energy and sometimes people try to make it and hold on to it. They want to hold on to it, they want to stack it in their bank as high as they can go and they don't want to spend it. Sometimes it happens. What happens when we hoard money, when we keep it and we don't let it come and go as energy? What happens?
So I have seen so many interesting things. Like when you, if you hoard your money, A few things happen. You get sick and then you have to pay for the medical bills.
Really?
Yeah.
Or like your kids do something bad and then you have to pay for the damage. So money needs outlet. So it's so interesting how money flows. And if you don't let out your money energies outlet, it's gonna get bad. It's like a pond. If there's no flow, the water gets bad.
Right.
It's like think about your health. If you eat, eat, and don't go to the bathroom, you're gonna get sick. What's gonna happen?
Yeah.
So for to stay healthy, you have to eat right, you have to release right. So for hoarding money, I want to ask them, you're eating so much, But what if you refuse? I'm not going to go to the bathroom for the rest of my life.
Oh my gosh. You'd be sick. You'd explode.
And you cannot eat well. So you have to let your money flow and then the next flow comes in. So here comes money EQ, the trust part. Trust is the hardest part of money EQ. You have to have the trust that once you let go of money, it comes back. So you don't have the trust. That's why you start worrying. That's why you have doubts about yourself. So instead of attaching to your money, you can say, thank you for staying with me. Just go, bless the world and come back with your friends.
Many of the people that I know who have tremendous amounts of money have huge fears around being poor. And so, it's just an interesting thought. A lot of people who don't have money see people who have money as thinking differently and they might in that they are more uncomfortable being poor than you are. It is more painful for them than it is for you. It might be, I'm just being really mean. It might be why some of them are stingy too with their money. Of course, 100%.
I'm not going to spend this $5. I'm going to keep it. They're very stingy with all of it. Two nights ago, we were out to.
Dinner with a guy who just got valued at a billion.
Right?
And it's off cash flow. It's not one of these software things. Like it's off, like he's getting, yeah, like he's making real money, crazy money. And he's like, I'm not going to that gym. He's like, for Equinox, I said, I'm not paying $200 a month for a gym membership. It's a different perspective. Now, I'm not saying I'm that way. You know what I mean? Like, I'm okay spending on gym membership. Like, that's fine for me. But like, everyone has their own things and like, there are these behaviors. Like, he got the other guy who had the 250, he got to that point because he lived he squeezed everything out of his business, which made the business so valuable and then he was able to sell it. But like the billion dollar guy was saying, he's like, you know what? They don't tell you about when you sell your business because he's sitting next to the guy with the 250, right? And he's like, the moment you sell your business, he's like, you have no cash flow. And so he felt that too. He's like, what are you gonna do?
He's like, you're gonna take the money.
And then what are you gonna do? You're gonna try and buy more cash flow because you gotta replace the cash flow you had with the business.
You gotta get real estate assets, you gotta do something.
He's like, why bother? He's like, I'll just keep it. And so he doesn't have any intentions of selling. And so, It was an interesting lesson for me too because we obviously got rid of our cash flow asset when.
We sold all three last year. You got a lot more money, but.
You don't have the money cash coming in. Right, because then it looks like this finite asset. The business goes on forever in your mind at least, right? And so it gives you this illusion of control, this illusion of security. And me personally, most people wouldn't believe this when I hear it, but I'm very risk averse. And so I probably need-- what's the core changes that I need to have? I probably need to be a little bit more of a risk taker than I am. tend to always take the lowest risk path when I can. Even the idea of like when I quit entrepreneurship or sorry, when I quit my job to start entrepreneurship, it was because I knew that the path that I was on was guaranteed not to get to me where I want. So I had a zero outcome. And that, so this one, even though it was lower, like I had a low chance of success, the other one had 100% failure guarantee. And so that, so it felt like the lower risk option for my long-term goals to quit my job and become an entrepreneur for that reason. And so, you know, people are like, I'm really risk averse. I'm like, so am I. Like, I hoard money. Like, I'm.
I do. You must get any of the money from the exit.
So it's not just sitting in the bank. Nothing. We started working the next day. We didn't even take it.
We didn't take a day off. Yeah, we literally sold wire hit. And we started working on acquisition.com the next day. Let's say you had to put your. Start putting that. cash flow every month into other things, team, resources, whatever it is. And that wasn't coming in. And, you know, let's call it 100 Grand a month was coming in with cash flow. I don't know how much it is, but say that is going into hiring team and other things to support you getting to the billion in two and a half years. What would need to shift in, in inside of you after three months of feeling no cash flow come in? to stack your bank account in order for you to be okay with it to get to that billion quicker.
I would just have to be more secure, just realistically. Like, I use.
What does that mean? Is that an internal.
I use cash flow from businesses as evidence to the fact that I'm not a failure. And so I use. I've always like it has been easier for me to change my conditions than to change who I am. And so I have used my. material success and accolades to quiet the voices of not being good enough. And so for that, like me having that, if I have that little voice that peeps up, it's like, hey, look at that. I'm like, okay, no, no, I'm okay.
I'm not that bad. This money just came in.
Yeah, no, I'm not that bad.
Right.
And so I'd have to, I'd really have to re-engineer the conversation I have with myself around how I value myself. Because then people are like, well, if you, you know, if everything disappeared, you know, how would you feel about yourself? I like to think that I would be uncomfortable and then I would change my views, but I haven't needed to do that yet and so my effort goes elsewhere. But that's what probably would have to.
Happen in order for me to make that change. Is it a... What is the thing that you're afraid of inside of yourself? Is it a self-worth thing? Is it a self-love thing?
Is it a belief that you're not good enough? Yeah, definitely be a good enough thing for sure. Yeah, it's just like maybe I'm not as good as I think I am. Maybe everything that I've been putting on media, maybe my book, maybe all these things are actually not true and I don't know what I'm talking about. because clearly I don't know what I'm talking about because I'm not making any money. So these things have been, that's why acquisition.com is the other half, like the actual businesses of acquisition.com compared to the media of acquisition.com, it is the other half because it's the evidence of the fact that the things that I say are true.
Because those are getting results.
100%.
And they're growing. Right.
And so that way I feel bulletproof when I make the content, when I make the book, when I write the stuff, Like, you know, there's a zillion people who are like, you suck, none of this is true, whatever. And for me, it rolls off my back because I have evidence. Right. And I'm like, no, no, it is true, and here's how. But if I didn't have that, I would probably have to... 'Cause I don't know what the right call is there. Because if I didn't have the evidence, it would be hard for me to say, you,'re wrong, because I don't have any proof that they're wrong.
But you have evidence now. Right, and so I have this evidence.
So how do you change the belief inside that you're good enough with the.
Years of evidence now?
The question is like, have I built a billion dollar thing yet? You know what I mean?
And so- that'll be 10 billion.
Yeah, of course. No, but it's a fun convo and it's great because this was wonderful, Louis. Because I get to see my own limiting beliefs. And just for everyone who's listening, everyone deals with this. You know what I mean? At every level you're dealing with this, feeling of inadequacy, feeling not good enough, feeling like you're not smart, feeling like you don't work hard, whatever it is. I have that stuff all the time because you think that the external circumstance is gonna solve that. And I would say that it does to a degree. It becomes a crutch. But then you have this crutch and then you just tie yourself worth to the accolade of the thing rather than still yourself.
And maybe I need to do more work on that, who knows. If you could overcome one thing or eliminate one thing internally to become a better leader to yourself, to quiet the noise or help you take a risk in a different way. Not talking about lose all your money, but take the risk to help you accelerate this. And you don't have to, by the way, but I just believe that it's possible for you to do that. I believe you can be a billionaire in two and a half years.
I appreciate that.
If you shift whatever inside of you is holding you back to get to that space, what would be that one thing to eliminate or overcome internally to make it happen.
It's need for external validation.
100.
The need for external validation.
Why do you need external validation?
Why do you need external validation?
I mean, I think part of it's so ingrained in us. If you think about us as kids, right? Like, how do you, how do you orient yourself with the world? You get reinforced or punished at all, at all phases, directly, indirectly, but you get reinforced or punished. And the things you get reinforced, you do more of the things you get punished to do less of.
Right?
Like, that's just how, how we, how we learn Behavior, how we learn to function.
Right?
Touch that thing, ah, it hurts, we got punished. Okay, you know, your parent tells you to sit down and be quiet and eat and you learn to sit down and shut up and eat and then we wonder why adults don't move because we're told to sit when we're running around, right?
We learn- At school, sit down and be quiet.
100% and we wonder why we eat so much when the reward for everything we did when we were a kid was food, right? We wonder these things. So, the reason external validation is so hard, at least for me, is because it's how I learned everything. It's because external validation gave me the directional guidance of what's good and what's not. And then as you get older, it's where am I going to get that validation from? And so I would say that my external validation is still 100% there. It just comes from different sources. So I'm more selective on whose validation I want.
So how much external validation do you need in order to overcome this belief to go all in and do it in half the time. No, I think I just, I need.
To be able to validate myself. And that's fundamentally, I think Epic Tita said this. He said like, if you need someone else's, if you need, he has this quote, it's so good, but it's basically like, you need to be able to give, you don't need to swear to somebody else. You should be able to swear to yourself and bear witness to yourself because your word should be good enough.
So you need to eliminate external validation from you feeling good enough. Probably.
Yeah, it's probably that link. Obviously, it's good to have feedback in life. You know what I mean? So I think that's why it's also difficult for some in general because it's not eliminate or have more of, it's to what degree and from home and about what. And so then it gets a little bit more complex. But even using those different lenses, I think it's good to unpack it for anyone who's listening, which is like, okay, Layla said this, so this is not mine. But most times when we're afraid of something, it's not actually like this amorphous crowd that we're afraid of. It's like one or two people's opinion.
That's true.
Like it's your dad or it's your whatever it is, right? And you're worried about what they're gonna think. And they're not even thinking about you, but you think they're thinking about. They're thinking about their dad.
Right?
They're not thinking about whatever it is, right? And so she restated this earlier on in Mike, like when we were together five years ago. She was like, are you. And she, like, made me name the person. It wasn't my dad. It was somebody else for this particular thing. She's like, are you gonna let this guy stop us from getting what we want? Wow. And it was like, when I saw it, it was, like, looking in front of me, I was like, she's like, what if this guy hates you and thinks you're terrible? Is that a worthy enough reason to still keep going?
And I was like, yeah. She's like, then let's go. You know what I mean? And so she was very good with that. What do you need to say to yourself every day to believe in? to believe you're good enough. If you could say one thing to you that no one else needed to hear, but you needed to hear it from you, what would that be?
I don't know if it would be a saying thing. I don't think it'd be like an affirmation. I think it's just a belief.
What would the belief be?
Yeah, I mean, fundamentally the belief would just have to shift that the doing this is enough. Validation for me, not the results.
Right.
And that's, I mean, fundamentally that's always the goal is that you can detach the, the doingness from the result. I think what I've been able to do has been to extend the time horizon between the doingness and the result, but not necessarily fully eliminate it. I'm patient in that I can continue to do things for very long periods of time before seeing a payoff. But if I were able to truly eliminate it, I think that would be kind of like a next step. Then again, it's that borderline on insanity.
Because if you never get feedback, sometimes you're like, maybe I should change direction. But you'll keep getting feedback though because you're creating, you're taking action. The more you do that, you'll have more businesses you'll be acquiring, you'll be creating more content, and everything will be.
Growing at the same time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right?
100%.
I love seeing you, you know, go through this process internally because I think.
I'm open to it. I just want to win. You know what I mean? Like, I just want to be better.
What does winning look like?
It's achieving the potential. It's taking all this raw potential. The, the, the, the line in the Bible that always scared me the most was to who much is given, much is expected. And so for me, I always felt like I was given a lot. You know what I mean? Like, I, I was born in America. right off the bat. I was born as a guy. I have insane genetics. Like from that perspective, I was six back when I was 15. I have a pretty high processing load. Like I can usually, I do okay with complex problems. I was bilingual at basically at birth because parents talked to me in different language. So that gave me good language abilities. And so it's like these are all things that were given to me, right? And I was born into like a, you know, from a money standpoint, a decently wealthy family, right? not ultra brilliant, but never worried about food or shelter or anything like that. And so these are all the things that were given to me. And so to me, I'm like, man, much is expected. And not necessarily that's God, whatever. I expect a lot of myself because I see so much potential. And I want to, by the time I die, I would like to have nothing left in my potential tank. And it just all have been transformed into my reality.
For those who aren't happy right now, they may be listening and they're not happy with their financial situation. What would you say would be the first few steps for them? Is there some prompts they could go through and write down first to question or analyze beliefs? Should they look at their bank account and see how many revenue streams they have coming in? Should they look at, should they invest in a coach? If so, what should they be looking.
At as action steps?
I definitely think the best place to start is your thoughts, beliefs, and words. So I have an exercise that I love that just was so sobering for me back in the day. Have you ever done that one where you write a letter to money as if it's a person?
I'm not sure if I've done that exactly. I've written many letters to myself, future self, past self, but tell me this.
Lean, yes. I, yeah, it's where you write a letter to money as if it's a person and you do a very stream of consciousness and you just let it rip and it's so illuminating because most of us have such a push-pull going on with money where it's like, of course, like if you handed me 10 grand, I'd be like, thank you very much. This is awesome. But then we also feel dirty for pursuing money. We think rich people have no morals. We think, well, have to sacrifice the things we love. We think we'll lose friends and family if we get rich. We'll, you know, whatever. And so when you do it stream of consciousness and really treat it as if it's a person or a thing, it blew my tannen mind when I saw it.
What happened to you?
What were your, oh my God. Well, my, okay. So, so I had lots of, I love you.
I wish you, I love you. I want to get out of my life.
It was like a dramatic relationship.
Yeah.
Yeah, it is. It's an abusive relationship. And they say if you take the money out and you replace intimacy into like man or woman, whatever you're into, samezies. Yeah, it's the whole thing. I mean, you got to be ready to be super humiliated if you're going to do any of this work. But mine was all I love you. I wish I had more of you. I resent needing you. I Don't trust that you'll stick around.
Ooh, man.
All that kind of stuff.
And how were your intimate relationships during that time?
Same.
I want you, but I don't trust you.
Yeah, really my hair is still standing up. So that's a real doozy. And then once you get all of your dirty laundry out on the page, then you can start questioning it. You know, like we were talking about before.
So how did you question personally, what came up for you?
And how did you- you- know, yeah.
Take me back, Jen. Take me back to the painful- I'm.
Gonna go pour a drink. I'll be right back. Ah, you know, I don't remember, okay, let me think.
Was there one thing that stood out the most? We were like, oh, I realized I've been doing this and why would money ever come to me consistently because of this thought?
Oh my God, I'll tell you the biggest, yes, totally blew my mind. It actually wasn't from writing the letter. I did, I know I had a lot of things with the letter, but the one that just brought me to my knees was I was at yet another coaching seminar in Las Vegas or something and there was another brilliant coach speaking on the stage and his fee for an annual, you know, private thing was $85,000. And I was just like, you know, I come from Italian immigrants. My dad came over, you know, he's, you know, he's kept his money buried in the backyard. Like he had no idea what I was talking about with all this stuff. And, and I remember because I was hardcore and not screwing around and I'd made that decision to figure out how instead of figure out why not. I was like, all right, how am I gonna get 85, 000 to work with this man? And, God, I feel like I'm gonna throw up just telling you this.
I.
The thought of that, like, opening myself up to that possibility. I mean, that's house money. That's, like, as irresponsible as it gets.
Right? Yeah.
And.
And the fact, just the mere Act of opening myself up to that and making myself available to be somebody who would. 85,000.
And saying, if it were possible, how would I do it?
Yeah.
And so what did you first say to him?
Oh my God. Okay. I actually get a lot of my information through like quick visual visions. And I had this image of my dad who's so sweet and not the best at showing intimacy, but he loved me to death. And the way that he would show me was by Giving me a 20 or helping me with my rent that month or whatever it was always through money is how he showed affection and I had this image of him in his little yellow v-neck sweater, which I have now made kind of famous. But with his hands in his pockets, looking at his feet so sad. Because if I got rich, I wouldn't need him anymore. And that's It really blew my mind and it changed a lot of stuff for me moving forward.
So when you came to realize that.
Did you this was all just unconscious.
You weren't even thinking about it before, but you knew that's how you got.
Love and he was able to express.
Love in that form by helping in some way financially or something like that. So when you realize that, did you address something about it or was it more about you addressing with yourself and letting it go? and realizing that he's still gonna love you even if it's not through that way. What was that process like?
It was awesome. I started visualizing him being really proud of me, which he totally was, and being happy for me and feeling relief that I wasn't gonna be, you know, living in a gutter next week. And this was the biggest part for me, which I cannot believe I was able to do because I have issues around this with my dad, but I still let him give me money because in the old days, I was like, you don't see who I am. I just told you I got a million bucks for a book deal. Like, you're not listening to me. But he, it's the, it's all he knew how to do. So I would tell him all of my great successes. And at the end of the conversation, he'd always be like, you need some money. You need $100. I can, and I'd be like, sure, dad.
Be great.
And it made him really happy. I was psyched to get 100 bucks.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
And it really healed our relationship. It was amazing on so many levels. And I think this is common for a lot of people. I think a lot of people don't realize that what's holding them back is they don't want to outshine their parents in some way.
Yeah, or their siblings or.
Abandonment. It's abandonment.
It's hard when you're like, I think there's a lesson in the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. I think it's maybe in that book, which is not saying we should live by this book because it's more about strategies of like war and power. But there's some good lessons, there's some amazing lessons in there. And one of them is, I think it's never outshine your mentors. Like always pay respect. Like you can, you can, You can do greater things, but make sure you're always paying respect to your mentors and not like belittling them once you surpass.
Them type of thing.
And so I think it's a figuring out how do we continue to let our stars shine bright, but also continue to elevate the mentors that were there before us and give them the honor and respect.
Oh, yeah.
You were able to heal that, you feel like, from that process of just discovery and awareness.
Yeah, yeah. And it was so fun after that, like seeing how much joy it gave him to give me money. I was like, oh my God, that's so dear.
So you didn't stop receiving money even though you didn't from him, even though you were like, I don't need to feel loved and I don't need the money anymore. You didn't stop it because it allowed him to express his feelings and emotions and yeah for you, right?
But how much of a sacrifice is that for me? I mean, whoop-de-doo. So he, that's, it's just all he knew, you know?
So that's beautiful.
What was, so what were the steps.
On how you got the 85,000? Or is that something you invested in or no?
Yeah, I did. I did.
85,000, that's a lot of money for coaching. What?
So you thought to yourself, there's no way I could do this, but then you started to shift and say, well, Okay, if it was possible, how would I do this? What did you do?
God.
Well, I, I love this. Oh, my gosh. Okay, so this is why also I'm always screaming and yelling about you have got to do stuff that scares you.
Scares you. Scares you.
If you are not scared, you are on the wrong track. It is so important.
