And then I thought, what if I would have stayed? And that's the thing, that I was supposed to sleep there that night. But something told me, stay at your parents house.
So I just decided to stop as opposed to push through it because I pulled my groin before in the past. He told me I need to start playing again in Europe. I'm here. He retires now. What if you do it? It's an incredibly big accomplishment. I'm thinking of going for 20, 28. Like I'm L. Handball. You think you can do it? Something that I think is even more valuable, which is. And failing and being okay with, like, being thrilled that you don't have to regret it.
Lewis Howard.
So we're here in Leon. Martha's here.
Yes.
How's it feel to be with the man who's chasing his dreams?
Ah, amazing. It feels amazing. It's true.
What's it like being in a relationship where someone is driven and has crazy ideas and crazy dreams and is actually taking action towards making them happen?
A lot of fun.
It's fun.
Yes, a lot of fun. Because, I mean, I know you. And so when you set your mind to do something, like you told me the other day, you're like, either I find a way or I find a way, or I find paths towards that way, angles towards that way. I'm really glad we came here because we had, you know, I got to see your dream in life because before that, Louis had told me about. You've told me about your dreams in general, but kind of like they were gone, like they were in the past.
The handball dream.
The handball dream, yeah. Obviously the other ones are still there and alive, but the Hamil dream and, and you were telling me and showing me your. Your videos and photos. You asked me, like, do you know what Hamill is? You said, no, No, I didn't know. I mean, I had seen it in the Olympics, but I didn't know the rules or. Yeah, you know, what is it? And then you start telling me and explaining me, and then you have this spark in your eyes every time you tell me.
I've just been thinking about it non stop. How does it feel to know when I'm every day talking about it?
I love it because you have this little smirk whenever you're like seeing your phone, some videos, things like that. And I go, ah, I know he's dreaming about handball. When you started having the dream, being reborn in your heart, you were like, you think we're too crazy? I remember you. I was like in a world of possibilities. It can happen. And also I said, well, you take it step by step.
Yeah. Because it seems crazy to think when it's four or five years away, but step by step. Step by step starts to work out.
Yeah, I think that is, you know, we learn that in Lent there are peaks and their valleys. And this is the valley. Yeah, Step by step, just going through the valley.
That's it.
That's it.
What number of practice is this? There's only eight. I think it's the eighth. Yeah. It feels like I've been here for a month. Yeah. So It'll be like 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 14 practices total, which is good. Do you think you'll come back, train more? I think so, yeah. I want to. Yeah. I hope so.
Who wants to see? What are the chances to bring the whole team?
I know. I mean, the. They have a two month break, so if Danny's the coach next year and he lets me come to practice, then I'll practice. But if it's a different coach, he may not let me train. So it all depends on Danny's situation. If he's here.
Wait, Danny may not be here next year?
Well, I don't know. I'm gonna try to see if he can be on the USA coach. If that's the case, maybe he would still be here and we can come practice here against the team. But. So it all depends. And all the synchronicities that have happened with the USA coach retiring while I was here. So the USA National Team head coach just resigned.
But that is what I told you to be here.
He was the coach that said, if you want to get back on the USA team to go to the Olympics, you need to be playing in Europe. And so I said, okay, here's the first month I can go in May. And the second week I'm here, he retires. So I'm like, He told me I need to start playing again in Europe. I'm here, he retires now what? And now I'm in talks, trying to get, you know, I tell Danny, he goes, I've been wanting to be the USA coach for a while.
Eight months ago.
Eight months ago, he said that to us.
He said that to us.
He said, maybe I'll be the USA coach.
We were talking about your dreams. We're having coffee.
I wonder if we have a video.
And then I turned to him and I said, what about your dreams? Have you ever dreamed about this? And he said, si, claro.
Yeah, exactly. Yes, it's also one of my dreams. Be like a sportsman Player in Olympics, but it's not like a spectator. I hope that 20, 28, I. I can travel to Laa to. To watch handball in the Olympics and hopefully watching USA Team with Luis in the squad. So much can happen and change in the next week or two. Yeah. Who knows?
So many things have happened.
So much has happened in two weeks. In just two weeks and one week. Crazy.
Well, just the first week you got here.
Oh, that was crazy.
You got broken into.
Broken into. Mass car got broken into the second week.
Then you were talking to the coach of the USA team.
Yeah. While he retired.
And then he retired.
I guess that was after the first week. But yes, so much happened in the first week. Week and a half, a lot of things. And then you showed up and you weren't gonna come.
I wasn't gonna come at one point.
Yeah. How does it feel to be here now?
So good.
Yeah.
So good.
You're happy you made it.
Yes. I missed you.
It's good. Coming. Okay. My guy's there.
You guys there?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Can't be late. You get a rest now. You just stay here.
Tom and I are gonna go for a walk.
The sun is out. Man, look at this. Dream life. Dream life. Oh, I needed this. The rain makes you just more tired, too. It does. Makes a little more tired. Sunshine brings it to life. Energy's coming back. Oh. Just tweaked my groin a little bit, so it's not too bad. But I was like. I felt it when I was jumping. I was like, okay, just feeling weak. So I just decided to stop as opposed to push through it because I pulled my groin before in the past, and I know that when you pop it, it takes like, you know, four to six weeks. So I was just like, ah. I was starting to feel a little twingy in the groin, and I decided just, you know, play it smart. Pause. As much as I want to train the rest of the practice, I was just getting into it. I could feel a little weakness. So I just told the trainer, I'm going to relax today. He said he's going to give me some ice, recover tomorrow, and then see how it feels in two days. The goal is not to play as hard as I can and injure myself. It's to last, you know, the next three years in a healthy position and to listen to my body. So it's unfortunate, but it's nothing too bad, nothing too serious, But I definitely felt on the last jump, that was a little tweak, so I decided to take it easy and rest the rest of practice. How long should I have the ice on Quantus Minutos for a lot of 10 minutes. It's better now if the. This muscle. No, no stretching. Don't stretch. No other muscle, only ice. What he was saying is like, it's better to stop now and rest, right? Two days, than to push through, injure yourself, and be done for the whole time, which is the smart thing to do. But as an athlete, as a competitor, all you want to do is practice. All you want to do is train. You just want to fight, you want to push through it. But this trainer is like, nah, you're doing the smart thing. And it's better to take two days off or even three than the next two weeks off. Take longer to recover. So it's unfortunate, but I got this in my body. In this area, it's possible to see the inflammation, the muscles. So it didn't pull, but inflammation, yes. Will strain. Okay. In this area. This area. Okay. Okay. It's good. It's not too bad. Everything the last two weeks has been crazy. The coach retiring, who told me to come here. And then Danny being like, I'm open. Yeah, to coaching. Right. And then being in touch with the president and be like, hey, can I help? He's like, sure. What about Danny? Maybe it can be an option. No, I'm doing the call tomorrow with Danny and the president. That's happening. Danny's going to be. If he's the coach, he's going to have to take on a charity situation. It's not going to be like, oh, you have all the money in the world and you do whatever you want. It's going to be like, you have to want this and know that you're sacrificing. And it's not going to be easy, but if you can stick it out for three years and make something special, you're the coach.
It's the Olympics in the USA team.
I saw Robert was gone. I called him right away and I said, do you have a plan for a coach? He goes, we're, you know, if you have ideas, let me know. I'm going to put an application out and there'll be submissions. And I go, I think I got the guy. So he hasn't even put anything out yet to let 100 people apply or whatever. So I was like, you need to meet with Danny first before you do anything. And I think he's just so overwhelmed. He's like, wow, he seems like a great coach. I don't want to go through a process of recruiting someone this could just be a good fit. So we're going to the university gymnasium to train today. I don't know why. The other place must have something going on. So I've never been to this gym, but he says the court is pretty nice, so it'll be my first time here. But I think this is where a lot of the athletes live, in the dorms. Sam, how's it feel to be pregnant and going on this journey with me? Do you feel like there's more. Do you feel like there's more at stake? Let's show the belly where you're at right now.
Okay.
Ah, the belly.
See?
Yes. I think because right at this moment, you're almost four months pregnant. You're like three months and three weeks.
Yes. It definitely. It feels like the stakes are higher, obviously.
How so?
Because, well, well, this is the thing. When you. When you left, very soon after you left, if not like two days later, our house got broken into.
That was scary.
And that was very scary. Scary because our home for us, sanctuary. Sanctuary. It's. It's our home. It's not a house, it's our home.
It's a sacred place.
Yes. And so it was.
How did it feel for you when you went home and you saw that?
Horrible.
It was all broken into and trash and they stole things.
It was horrible.
Really?
Yes. Obviously I, like, I showed up, you know, me. So when events happen that are really stressing, I'm very calm. And so I was calm for about three, four days because. Also.
Because you're in, like, you're in responsibility mode.
Yes.
I need to take action mode.
How do I.
Let me call the police. Let me like, figure this out.
Mexican. So like, these things sometimes happen in Mexico.
Oh, man. Yeah.
I mean. Yeah. So they make you more resilient.
Yeah.
And so I was. I was very steady. But internally.
Yeah, it doesn't feel good.
It didn't feel good because it's a violation to your safe space. And especially in this moment, and especially when you're pregnant as a woman, what happens to you is you want to feel safe no matter what. And I don't know why it happens, but I think it's nature. You're heightened in your feelings of feeling safe. They're heightened. So I saw that. And then they entered through our master bedroom room.
Yeah.
And then I thought, what if I would have stayed? And that's the thing, that I was supposed to sleep there that night, but something told me, stay at your parents house. And so I even like, I was parked outside the House. And I thought, should I. Should I set up the alarm? And then I went, well, I can't, because this and this and this is failing, because some things were failing. And then I was like, well, but I'm gonna wait until the gate completely closes. That should have told me I was sensing something. Then I was driving there, and I was supposed to come back, and I said to myself, no, I'm going to spend the night. And so when I got home and I saw everything, I went. They did break in. So it's more like a confirmation. The American system is amazing how it works, because the police shows up, then detectives show up, then forensics show up, then we found blood. That was really scary. Also kind of crazy, too. We found blood in the window. And so then another team retrieved the DNA, and I was like, wow, this is like a CSI episode.
Oh, for real?
For real. And then they left. And when they left and they said, four or five days later, oh, you finally can clean up all the mess, that's when I went.
Because you couldn't. Because she couldn't be at home. She couldn't touch anything for four or five days until they were able to do all this stuff, the detectives. It was very trashed.
Yes.
Everywhere. Broken glass, open windows, all these things for four or five days.
So.
Going to the soccer game, football game, Leon. I think it's their final game of the season, so it should be a good game, good experience. They win, I think they go. Move up to the second division. Yeah. From the third division. So it should be a good time.
When we got married, I told you.
What'd you tell me?
I'll go wherever you go.
He did say that. He said, I'll follow you wherever you want to go.
Follow you wherever you want to go. Because the man is the lead of the family.
100.
And the woman is the pillar.
The pillar. Yes. The foundation or the pillar?
The pillar. It's like, you give us women a house, we give you a home.
Yes. We give you money, and you multiply. Yes, that's it.
We also spend it a little bit sometimes.
It's true. I think one of the main things for us, we have such a busy life, I guess we have so many. So many amazing things happening every day, every week, every month. There's always, you know, a movie or a TV show or a commercial. You're booking some big project or we're going to some.
I'm writing my script, working on scripts.
Or my podcast, my interviews, or we're traveling to go speak somewhere. We're going to Mexico for something. We're in Spain, we're in wherever. It's like things are happening all the time. And this year has just been so many amazing things from back to back.
Book launch, the church wedding, the Mexico.
Wedding, book launch, book tour, pregnancy, coming to Spain, pursuing this dream. So many things happening. But there's been challenges as well. The break in, you had some scares with the pregnancy early on. That was very scary for you as well.
Yeah.
So it's not like everything is perfect. But I think the thing that I do and that we do is we really pray to focus on staying in the moment and say, what can we do each day to just show up.
Our best self and also see the opportunity.
Yeah. When there's a breakdown or a challenge, I always think, well, maybe it meant to be this way to protect us from something worse happening. That's what I try to think about. Like, okay, maybe there was a point break in, but at least we weren't there.
Some. Some of the things and the synchronicities that I've been seeing here, you and I can take it as synchronicities. It's like, oh, these are opportunities, but depending on your mindset, you can take them on. Oh, no. The coach that told me to be here now retired.
Now I have no chance.
I have no chance.
No. But it's more like, how do I make it work next? What's the next step? And how can I make this a beautiful opportunity?
Yes.
To be greater.
Yes.
And maybe all I needed was that coach to tell me, you need to start training again and get to Europe. And now it's going to lead to something even greater. And hopefully it's something great for him too, you know?
Yeah, exactly.
All that stuff.
But I love that mindset that you have.
We have.
We have it. Yes. Yeah.
Afternoon. How you feeling today? Feel good. Went to the gym, went to mass, and we got the game. I got a special surprise for the players. Got a little video surprise. I'm gonna share with them and see how they react, see if it helps them win. Is this game important or. It's a big game for them. So crosstown rivals, and it's a meaningful game. So it's the last home game of the season. A couple of players, last home game because they'll be moving to different clubs next year. So hopefully there's a big turnout and hopefully they come home with a win.
Yeah.
Let's do it. Let's do it. And his name is Paul Gasol, and he wanted to share a Quick message for you guys today. He couldn't fly in. He was in Spain, but he couldn't make it. He was busy, busy. But he sent us a quick video of the first part in English. The segundo parte and espenolos. Hi to you. Hope you guys are doing great. I know you're about to play a big game against your biggest rival in the league. So best of luck, finish strong and best of luck in the playoffs. Vamos. Vamos.
It. Sam, also, you did something really amazing at Summit of Greatness. That I did was very inspirational.
So we went to the Olympics. We watched that. Then we came here and talked to coach Danny and talked about the vision of coming, playing and practicing. And then what was it a month later I had summoned of greatness.
Yes. In September.
And I created a visualization in front of the entire audience. And I said, listen, guys, I'm all about setting an intention and creating an environment and experience that feels like you're in that environment. I was just telling Tim, like two hours ago that one of the most inspiring moments for me is when I get to wear USA on my chest and sing the national anthem, which is.
Exactly what you did.
And so I recreated that experience at my event Summit of Greatness. And we had an amazing singer sing the Star Spangled Banner.
That was incredible.
And the national anthem. Right.
So we were all visualizing with Lewis and I wore.
I put my jersey on stage with USA flag as if I was in the arena playing with the national team. So I put myself in that state to visualize this experience happening again.
And the home of the.
Brave.
And knowing what we know about how to manifest and manifest and ask to God how things can happen, you ask as if they've already happened. So.
And a lot of it is. And a lot of it is also just saying thank you for this opportunity, for this day. You know, I don't know if it's going to happen in 10 years or 20 years or three years, but it's like every day I've gone to practice here, I'm just like, thank you for this opportunity, for this practice. Thank you for this experience today.
Yes.
You know, and I think that is being in that state of gratitude and appreciation and just grateful for the opportunity today is what gets me through the hard times as well.
Sam, Sa.
All around, it's just been a beautiful week. Lots of amazing synchronicities. I feel like I'm starting to play better. Even though I tweaked my groin a little bit. I'm trying to help out the USA organization. If Danny's the right fit, it could be an amazing win. Win. But either way, I'm trying to see how I can add as much value as possible for Team usa. It's been a beautiful week. Having Martha and her mother be here the entire week, we weren't sure if she was going to make it or not. So she's been here. This is her first full week in Leon. Just I'm feeling good. I'm feeling empowered, I'm feeling inspired. I'm feeling like this final week ahead is going to be a lot of magic that is going to happen. A lot of beautiful things are unfolding, and I'm excited to finish this week strong for the first month. Back training for handball from my dream to get back on the USA team and go to the Olympics.
