Poetry is a spiritual practice, not a career. External metrics and treating it as a job pulled Lewis AI away from that connection for a decade. He's returned to seeing it as a way to connect with himself, without judgment.

For me, poetry is a form of spirituality. It was never a job or a career. And I think when all the big metrics came, it was like, oh my God, this is my job, this is my career. And I did began to stop treating it like a form of spirituality. And now I've sort of, after 10 years, like come full circle to that moment where I'm like, okay, no, this is a form of spirituality. It's where I'm most connected to myself. So why would I ever bring judgment into that space?
