This is a YouTube video titled "Self Diagnosing Is RUINING Your Life" featuring a conversation between Caroline Leaf and Lewis Howes, discussing the dangers of self-diagnosing on TikTok and the impact of labeling oneself with mental health conditions.
The self. Diagnosing on TikTok is really dangerous.
Really.
It's people saying, well, I've got that, but it's not something that you can have. You haven't caught a virus, you haven't got a thing. You're having a reaction to whatever's going on in your life at that moment. So reducing it to a label narrows it down, limits you, and kind of locks you into a pattern.
That's interesting, because words really matter when we label ourselves. So we say, I am adhd, then we're essentially embodying that experience versus I'm experiencing ADHD symptoms. I'm experiencing. Experiencing extreme overwhelm, anxiety.
Exactly. We are 99 mind and 1% brain and body. When you take on that Persona, your brain simply does what your mind tells it to do. So if I'm telling myself, oh, my gosh, I've got those symptoms, you then merge.
