The 6 STEPS To Create WEALTH & ABUNDANCE Today | Kyle Cease & Lewis Howes

Kyle Cease and Lewis Howes discuss how to build wealth by shifting your mindset and beliefs. Cease argues that abundance comes from releasing the fear that keeps you stuck, and that personal freedom is the real measure of success, not just money.

Achiever's limited belief is I'm going to. Because you're either on the treadmill or you're not. You're either meditating or you're not.
To have the greatest life in the world, be completely and fully accepting of death. And the more you go, I'm fine with death, the more you feel free.
That's why everything we think we want, we lose. Because you're not ready for it if you want it, you got to get to a place where you love you enough, where the thing just naturally comes to you.
Or better, creating wealth and abundance in our lives begins. Begins with the beliefs we have about ourselves. And in this video, Kyle Cease breaks down how to tear away the limiting beliefs so you can have an abundant life. Does it hurt you when you care too much?
Well, I do. What I mean by that is I could do the work on. I really believe that when we're wanting something, anything in the world to change, I find that it actually is reflecting something that's inside you that hasn't been seen.
For example?
For example, okay, there's times where I will be in the middle. I do work with people and I can kind of see often when they have a deep desire, right.
For what?
I want to make more money.
I want a relationship, I want to lose the weight.
Or, you know, one that I see a lot is when they can't figure out which way to go in a certain scenario. Like, which way should I do this?
You mean like a relationship? Should I stay in the marriage?
Should I get divorced? I'm not sure what that dilemma means, is you have a belief there's a wrong way to do it. And if you think there's a wrong way, like, what does that look like? And what we find is, when I work with people after a long time, what they find is that the wrong way is I'll go through something that I went through when I was five. Like, in other words, there might be a part of you that's controlling, trying to control a situation. Why are we needing to control the situation? Because when you were five, your parents fought a lot and you were the one that had to organize everything. And you unconsciously picked up that they'll divorce if you don't. And now you actually feel like the entire world's going to fall apart if you don't. Most of the people I meet that really want to make money often have a major fear of not having it, which is weird because energetically, you're putting out to the world. I'm scared of not having it much more than I want it, right? Because I find that this is a weird thing to say, but when you really want something, you're not ready for it, you're not in the alignment for it.
So true, right?
Like let's say you're someone who believes who you are is someone who makes $20,000 a year. Like that's in your story. You grew up that way. You heard sentences like money doesn't grow on trees or it's the root of all evil. So you have these deep rooted beliefs that you're evil, right? If you do this, so you have this thing going and then that also is what drives you bizarrely, like you're scared of that, right? So I work with so many people and if someone offers that person a million dollars, that's death to the story of who they are. So weirdly you're going to be in this position where you want to take it, but you're scared of it, right? Because it's death to who you are. This is a reason I believe lottery winners go broke. So the book I wrote is called the Illusion of Money. Why chasing money is stopping you from receiving it. Chasing money has a very different vibration than receiving it, right? When you chase something, you're saying, this is what I can see that I want. And if you can see what you want, usually it's through the eyes of the ego because there's so much stuff you can't see. So you're sitting here looking through this tunnel. This is what I want. I can see it's that one person that's the love of my life. I'm sure that's my soulmate. Meanwhile, you haven't met almost everybody, right? It's that much money. It's that stuff. You can feel this needy vibration. And I've worked with so many people who say, dude, I don't know what it is. I keep working my ass off. I keep trying to make money and I can barely pay rent. And I thought, what if I've got.
No time, I've got no energy, I've got responsibilities, all these things.
And what if those are the reasons you aren't making any money? What if you're working your ass off is actually why you can't make money? And what if instead of working on getting money, you work on you and changing your vibration to leave the story that who I am is 20,000 a year. To leave the story that who I am is what my parents say. So if you go to a receiving vibration, the first thing you do is receive what's here. Like it sounds corny, but we usually don't pay attention to what's here right now. Right now, you and I are here. Everything we think our story is, our accomplishments, our problems are bs. We're just this moment and everyone watching this. If you really understand the highest truth of what's going on, what we're all even. There's no this person is better or less. There's none of that. We're just this space that's here right now. From here, you have sky's the limit possibilities. But if it goes through the lens of who I am as this past story, this limitation, this person that tried to achieve it and failed, is someone who gets love by failing over and over is someone who has to stay.
Small significance by failing.
Right, Right.
Because people start to say, oh, you're going to be okay. I'm going to help you. I'm going to give you more time or money, attention because you're not succeeding.
Right, Right. You get all this. Exactly.
People give you handouts or support you when you're failing.
Yeah, you get a lot of love when you're failing. There's a lot of people that will connect to you. There's a lot of people. And so we're going. If I become something, I won't get that sense of connection that felt like my mom, that connection that I get with my friends, or that person that I dated that actually weirdly feels familiar to my childhood, that I now associate this as love. Meanwhile, the truth of you is this space right here. This sounds really weird, but this space right here contains all kinds of ideas. It's almost like we're an antenna and we can pick this space up and just sit and receive. First of all, the idea that we're enough. Like, what if there is no purpose to chase and you are purpose just by existing? What if you can't get out of purpose? What if that's not a thing to chase? So that's the first thing. Just say, okay, I'm in.
Purpose.
Yeah, you are.
Purpose.
And then that. The first thing that happens is that scares the part of you that says no. Like, I'm sure people watching this right now would go, oh, he doesn't know my story. Yeah, but that's your story which is past, so it's fictional because there's no such thing as the past. So everything about you that you perceive about yourself based on past evidence is bullshit. Everything.
Everything.
Your family history, everything it matters and it needs to be seen and loved and Honored. We don't repress it. But you're the space right here that contains infinite possibilities and the space for that past. So when you realize that you're just this moment right here and then do the actual work of connecting to it. See, most of us connect to the stories and connect to everyone's addictions online and connect to the problems. But what if you actually pay attention to this? Like, I spent two years, two hours a day listening. Silence. All my old stories show up and they're like, oh my God, I can't just meditate for two hours. This is crazy. And then they leave and I'm just here. And then there's this silence that you hear. And after the silence is showing up, eventually it holds space for billion dollar ideas like crazy possibilities. And the part of you that thinks, I would never be able to do that because my parents said this, gone. So it's very easy to receive those ideas. So to me, what I find is that the more I can see what I want, the more it's looking through the egoic lens. And when I just go, I don't have any idea what I want. I'm just going to move moment to moment, doing what I perceive as the highest vibration thing that connects me to this space for real. Then you can hear this one and it'll just give you one step, right? It just gives you go for a walk. That's a leap. Because usually we're like, yeah, but I.
Need to look at my phone.
400, you gotta work, right? That's your old story that says every. Yeah, but is an old story every. I can't because is an old story. It's not including the possibilities of different frequencies that are trying to reach you right here you're looking through the lens of your limitation, right? So we have it in. We can see it in little doses. When you have those first moments show up that go, what if you started a band or moved to Italy right now? And then you immediately access something in you that made you able to hear that. But it's bigger than the story of what you think you are. So you immediately have to come up with a why. That would be ridiculous to explain why you're ignoring your body. So a rule that I have is every time I'm justifying anything, I know it's not my highest calling. Like that friend treated me like crap that one time, but they were really nice before. If I'm doing that, I'm coming with a reason to explain why I'm ignoring my heart.
Yeah, justifying it.
Yeah.
Like why? You hear women who are in relationships or men, I guess, but you hear a lot of women who say, you know, well, he emotionally abuses me, physically abuses me, but he's there for me sometimes when I need him or something. Yeah, there's a but, right? But he's a good person inside. He's just messed up or whatever it is.
Right? So that to me right now is the difference between a calling, because a calling you don't, you don't justify. Like, I have a two year old daughter and I never say, well, she gets good medical insurance. That's why I keep her.
Right.
You know, why I do this for a living. There's just no explanation for it. But we all know what it's like to have a job and be like, eventually, eventually they're going to promote me. What are you doing? You're explaining why you're ignoring your body. And your body contains all the next steps. And when you do something that doesn't move you from the highest you, you cut off the higher level of ideas, the impact on the world, the connection to the moment. And you're saying out loud, I'm this old story. So you stay in the boundaries of the old story by staying in that stagnant story, that stagnant relationship, that stagnant job, the place you don't want to live anymore. So I've been working with people a lot and watching them have these moments where they go, well, I'd like to live here, but. And I go, let's go.
Right?
I want to do this.
Let's go.
We don't know what's coming here. You're only scared. And I think I said this on your other podcast, but you're only scared because you can measure what you will lose. You can't see what you'll gain.
Game changer.
And the thing I always think of is imagine if Michael Jordan or Michael Jackson or Oprah had enough justification to stay in a mediocre job in like 1981, right? So here's Michael Jackson and he works as a manager at Applebee's, right? And you're sitting here seeing this talent in him and you're trying to tell him, dude, you should do other stuff. He's wearing like one oven mitt. Why do I want one oven mitt? And you're like, you should do, I can feel an artist here. And he's like, I'd love to, but I gotta make money. Applebee's is gonna promote me. And you're like, dude, you're gonna make money. I swear to God, there's millions in this. And he' I know, I hear your fantasy. That's really cute. I get it. I get I could be magical, but I'm realistic and they call that realistic. That's not realistic. You know how many times people come to my events and go, dude, that's great, Kyle, but I gotta live in the real world. And I go, what's the real world? And you know what it is? It's when they sit at home and come up with all the ways that shit's gonna go wrong, which is actually delusion and fantasy and fear. That's not the real world. What's real right now? Both our hearts are beating. There's a space here. This is the only thing real. The people watching, you're breathing. This is the only thing true. And we call this airy fairy and stressing all day and worrying about all the crap the news hand selected to make you freak out is called the real world. Do you know how not scary the world actually is? Like if you go outside, it's not just horror and what it looks like on the news, that's real, right? There's a lot of buildings not on fire today that the news isn't focused on, right? You can just drive down the street.
There's a lot of people that aren't being shot at today, right?
There's a lot of families that went to bed safe and woke up in the morning and no one cares. Because we go, this dark world is the only world. And I'm not saying that's not there. That's there and needs to be honored. But in saying that's the world, we're denying everything that's right in front of us, including the space that has all the information, this source, whatever you want to call it. Some people call it God, some people call it the universe. You can call it your intuition. I don't care if you're atheist or Christian or whatever. This moment we all have, this is true.
This is true.
And then we never pay attention to it. We're crazy. And when you start meditating and listening to the silence, you see all these people that are just running themselves and you just see it like this crazy illness. And then you're sitting here with all these insights. What if I create that boom, million dollar idea, this thing, this thing. And you're so fulfilled by the calling that when you do create money, you don't blow it on a bunch of addictions, which you only have because you're so out of alignment with yourself. The only reason we have addictions is because we aren't connected to ourself, right? So here's all these people that are drinking and overeating and then have to spend more money at the hospitals because they're overeating, out of alignment. And then they go to a job that they hate, spend eight hours hating it, go home, hate that, watch Netflix all day and then overeat, go through the addictions again, buy the most expensive car to try to get laid.
Right. Failed to have self worth.
Yeah.
And then here you actually are, if you connect to this moment, the real, not to be a cliche, but the Internet, as I'm sure Beckwith said before, or something. The Internet, right. This is real, you know, and so what this book is about is. And this is the galley. This is just the proof. I promise the copy you'll get is a professional one. But the book is about. We are so focused on making money, almost every thought we have is, yeah, but I gotta get rent paid next month.
I gotta.
And we're sacrificing our soul for it. And my question is if we're. Instead of throwing away our soul for the guarantee of the illusion of money.
Or illusion of safety, Right?
And yeah, a lot of people believe money equals safety. Yet I can think of people that were broke, then made millions of dollars and thought, what if I lose it? So they didn't feel safe.
Freedom.
What if I lose this?
Yeah.
So you're under the illusion that freedom is outside of you. Just by saying money equals freedom, you're implying you're not freedom.
Or you need to have something to have freedom.
Right?
Something external.
So what's the real truth? In my eyes, you're just freedom. But you've created an unnecessary route to get to what you are. So you said, finally, when I see a million dollars, so you cut off the freedom that you are. Or when I finally fall in love, you cut it all off. And then when I get it now, I can feel, I can give myself permission to feel the thing that I could have felt in the first place.
The whole time, the whole 10 year journey it took to get there.
Whatever it was, I put my own connection to source, myself, whatever, on the other end of this achievement. Now my question is, what if you reverse that? What if you just start feeling the freedom that you are? What if you start feeling in love?
Right?
What if you start feeling the feeling because that actually is your natural state? I think Eckhart Tolle once said, falling in love is the Real you. Because it's the absence of you wanting something. It's the absence of you thinking something will make you happy, right? You finally have a moment where you don't think you need something to be happy. So your giddiness has nothing to do with the person, it has to do with that you finally decided you're enough.
You love yourself, right? I'm in love with me.
It can't be the person, because a month later you could not feel that same way about them. So if that person was what made.
You feel in love, you're screwed. If you need someone else to make you happy, you need someone else to.
Make you feel in love, right?
If you're always needing that, they should be able to add to you, right? Like you should be able to add the feeling of love, add the feeling of happiness and joy, but it shouldn't be the reliant thing as the other person.
Correct. Imagine if you get to a place where you're whole, where you get that you're whole, where all of the voids that you've created in yourself by living on social media, you instead fill them yourself. Yeah, right. You fill them yourself. You actually say goodbye and cry out the old story that who you are is what your parents told you, that you're trying to get love through the conditional way that your parents gave you in like the 70s. You cry that shit out.
I was born in the 80s, but.
Yeah, yeah, well, I'm trying to keep your average audience, I don't know, whatever it was. You cry that out and you're just left with you. You fill this place, by the way. First thing, you'd never end up in a relationship with someone who's codependent on you or needy or people pleasing or take her from you because you can see through it, because you're not codependent on them.
It's true.
So then you have someone who also did that work and now you got one plus one is infinity versus one half plus one half equals one fourth.
It's an amazing feeling because I'm in a relationship now. That is that I was telling you before, I was just like, man, it's just a different feeling.
Yes.
And I'm also not afraid to lose it. Like it's the first time.
Why it'll stay.
It's been crazy because it's long distance and we're both like, man, this is so magical. And every now and then she'll be like, kind of a little scared of like, you know, like moving to LA and being together and what if it doesn't work? And I'm like, you're gonna be fine. And I'm gonna be fine. Like, you have tons of men that are hitting on you all the time who are super successful and inspiring and loving and caring. Like, you're gonna be fine. And I've got tons of women who are, like, amazing in my life. I'll be fine.
Right?
It's gonna suck, it's gonna hurt, it's gonna be sad, and then we're both gonna be fine.
Right?
And that's the truth. And it's like, I. This is the first time I haven't been. It's so weird. It's the first time I'm 36. It's the first time I haven't been jealous.
Wow.
In any relationship. And it's probably the girl I should be the most insecure and jealous of because she's massive celebrity. She's one of the most beautiful women I've ever met. Like, she's got every big celebrity male hitting on her all the time. Billionaire, like, everything. But I have, like, zero jealousy.
Right?
It's weird. Maybe because I've just killed my old self that needed, I don't know, some validation or something or security. I'm just like, if it doesn't work, I'm gonna be okay.
Wouldn't that be a concept? It's amazing. Wouldn't it be a concept to be like, I don't need anything from you. I love you because I love myself. And I just want to be the highest choice. So you choose to be with me versus we made a deal six years ago, so you better not.
Yeah.
You hear that? Like, the difference? One is control, one is fear. You better not. We said our vows 10 years ago. That's control. That's a codependent. And you're moving based on fear. So you have no idea what your heart feels. You have no idea what you want. Everything is. Just don't screw up something.
Right?
And the idea that you could also just go to a place where you continually connect to yourself. You meditate. You make your highest moves. You let go of the things that feel heavy in your life. You actually become the highest value for this other person. So they choose to commit to you every day because you're the best choice.
Exactly.
Not because they have to or they're forced to or because they're married and society tells you you need to stay together or whatever it may be.
Correct? Right.
Like, I love you no matter what you do. That's the most powerful thing in the world. You know, someone once said to me, once he was talking to me, he goes, I just have the hardest time trusting women. And I said, what is trusting for you? That they do what you decide. Trusting to most people means they better not do what I've decided they can't do. An expectation, right? It's expectation and it's control. How about I trust you to unfold how you need to. How about I trust you to love what you need to love? I trust you to go through whatever experience you need to go with. I trust you to follow your heart, and I'm going to be here loving you all the way, no matter what you do.
That's big.
Could you imagine the power of that for you to be able to say that to someone, right? I trust you all the way. I love you. And you're unfolding, you do what you need to do. And I'm here because that's called love. For real. Everything else that we've defined as love is attached, manipulation. It is. And in controlling anyone, you're totally controlled. I remember reading a book once that said, imagine you have a donkey on a rope. Like, this is your donkey, right? It was an old book, so they used donkey as the example. You have your camel and you're okay. And then it said, well, realize now you're stuck on the other end of the rope, right? So here you are saying you're mine, but now I'm stuck to you, so my life is don't do, right? So now I can't flow either. So the more you try to control anyone in a relationship, the more you try to control what they do, whatever, the more you're controlled because your focus is don't do. And basically what you're saying is, don't do. What I felt in the past, that.
Hurt me in the past.
Because every time we control anyone or control anything or control any scenario, we're scared to have a scenario that we unconsciously, we don't understand is in our body.
And what I'm hearing you say is when we try to control someone else's freedom, we're not free either.
Completely. How could you be?
We're a prisoner.
Yes. So take that all the way. If you're scared of what people will say about you. Every person that talks shit about us is handing us their power. Every person that talks shit about any person. You hear that they're handing you their power. When you're worried about what they'd say. You know when. When Marianne said something on the debates, and then everyone was Writing about her. She has all of their power. She doesn't, like, want it. She's trying to give them their own power. And everyone's shitting on her, you know, because she's breaking through shit in their body. No matter what it is, like, when you are controlling someone, they have your power. When you're telling them what to do, when you're talking about someone, they have their power. They have your power. Everyone has your power. Right.
Just be a monk in the woods and the mountains.
Well, one thing that was a huge change is realizing there's no competition. And everyone in my life, I want them to succeed.
Yeah.
That makes me really powerful.
That's been something that's been huge for me over the last, I would say, like, four years. Because my whole life as an athlete was, I need to win. And second place means I'm not lovable.
Right. So here.
Second, third, like, last place to a parent.
Did your dad teach you that or something?
No, I just think, like, no one taught me that.
Like, they were.
All my parents were very supportive. Like, they wanted us to compete, but they weren't like, you suck if you're second. They were, like, the most loving.
Did you experience some trauma in your past when you were second or see someone make fun of something?
I was just always made fun of.
Right.
And so I was like, I'm gonna prove everyone wrong.
Right.
And I'm gonna be the best, so they can't laugh at me anymore. I was picked last on a team, actually. When I was in fourth grade, I was picked last in school. Our class did a dodgeball for recess, played a game, and there was two captains in the class, and they picked all the boys first, and then they picked all the girls second, and then they picked me last.
Wow.
I remember being like, never again will I be picked last.
Right.
So do you see? Even though it was successful and killed it, and you did amazing, that still, fear of feeling something is your driver now. I'm a huge fan of that. And there's a higher even still, of course. Right. Because if our driver is to not be bullied again in junior high, that's nice. But, like, what happens if you just go up? You know, like, you don't have to create us, so ego does that. Ego creates a sabotage, and then it overcomes the sabotage it created. That's what ego does. It, like, goes, I got to create a problem, so I'm gonna find the shittiest friend and then overcome that. Or, you know, life is about achieving, so I gotta be number. I Gotta overcome, but I have to have a problem to overcome. So, yeah, what if you just don't have any problems as much by, I mean, still they show up, but we just go up versus, like down and back up to mediocre again. You're not mediocre, you're profound.
But like, it took a while to learn that. And I realized probably when I hit 30, that's when I started to do all the inner work. When I hit 30, I was opened up about being sexually abused as a kid and all these other traumas I had. I finally started talking about them and expressing them and letting them kind of release through my body. And it was those years after the last six years, where it's been like, wow, I've been such a jerk. Like, not in like a deliberate way, in like a subconscious way, an unconscious way where all I wanted to do was win at all costs. I wasn't being mean to people necessarily, but I was just like a poor loser with everything in conversations. I was a poor loser. And sports and whatever it may be. I was just in relationships. I was a poor loser. Like, if I didn't get it my way, what I thought was right. Just a poor loser.
Right.
I wasn't intentionally trying to be mean or anything, but it was just in my body. And it was this. I would say the ego is the second most powerful fuel that drove me to achieve results in the outer world. But it left me feeling so alone and empty in my inner world. Then at 30, I started to transform. And I'm still transforming every day, But I started to open up about these things and realized, wow, collaboration is actually. And lifting others up is the key, not competition and trying to beat everyone.
That's amazing.
Collaboration and lifting others up is like the most powerful fuel over. I need to be right all the time and I'm gonna prove these people wrong.
Yeah.
And isn't that amazing that it's all down to trauma? Feeling that trauma once more.
Yeah. Right.
So how. And I believe in this year and next year, I believe that consciousness is expanding to a level where these things can't not be seen. It's almost like our consciousness is bigger. So it's like looking and rooting around in our bodies and. Okay, like what you just described, like becoming number one to not feel that. I believe that was at one point the collective highest consciousness in like the 80s 90s.
Right.
We didn't look at our deepest, darkest things.
Maybe even right now it is with current politics, who knows?
And so the old movement, and this is Kind of what the book's about is the old way kind of shows. Like, you know, in the 80s, it was this thing to, like, have nine Lamborghinis, and everything was about hype and, you know, get the Ginsu steak. And everyone wanted to be like the young Donald Trump, you know, that book of selling and all this. Well, and then the secret came and it said, focus on what you do want. Positivity.
Right.
What I believe is the consciousness is bigger now. And instead of only focusing on what you want, I really believe the amount of what you can get is based solely on how much you can accept the opposite. So in other words.
So the opposite of what?
So let's say you really want to be rich, it's based on how willing you are to be poor.
Wow.
If you want the ultimate relationship, it's based on how willing you are to be alone. If you can love being alone, you'll cry out your codependency, you'll cry out the old story, and then you create.
A space for that.
But if everyone is ambitiously just trying to date, they're going to be two attachments that are stopped by each other from their inner truth. So it won't land, it won't last.
Right?
So it goes all the way to. You want the best life, Totally accept death. To have the greatest life in the world, be completely and fully accepting of death. And the more you go, I'm fine with death, the more you feel free.
Right.
It's weird because what we have now is a world of people who are really trying to put a million locks on the doors and protect themselves from a life they're not living. Right? Like, I gotta protect. I gotta keep my freedom.
I gotta have all the weapons.
I gotta have all this stuff that's nice, do what you need to do. But are you living it? Because the weirdly, the more you live your life fully, the less fear you have of death.
But I believe that every time we get in our head about something, we're under an illusion. The story's in our head. And so whenever I have any problem in that moment, I actually think it's life or death. Like, whether it's someone saying something about me or, oh, this gig might not happen, or whatever. And so every time I have that, a question Michael Beckwith taught me to ask is what is trying to emerge out of me that I've never been before, but I actually am. Are you recording this? Because this is.
This is cool.
If you want this, like a caterpillar. If it's A caterpillar's walking on a stick. If there's a wall here, right? The victim caterpillar goes, oh, there's a wall here. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna do this, right? The achiever caterpillar, the make it happen motivation caterpillar goes, I'm gonna get over the wall, right? That what's trying to emerge out of me caterpillar goes, I think I'll just sit here for a week and do nothing. And then it's the cocoon forms and eventually it has wings. And this thing's a non issue. It's non existent. So I've had it before where someone talks crap about me right now. The victim caterpillar goes, I'm gonna leave this the achievement caterpillar goes, I'm gonna prove them wrong, right? I'm gonna have another number one comedy special special and show them that I'm. But the what's trying to emerge out of me caterpillar goes, okay, this thing is here. What, what illusion what story am I in for this thing to even be an existing thing? And for me, that shift happened when I was. Comics were giving me crap because I was this positive guy. And all of a sudden I was like, I cared what they thought about me, but something was trying to emerge out of me. So I had to sit and I sat in a hotel for a long time and I felt all this pain in me that was like trying to. The most I knew at that point was, how do I show them they're wrong? How do I. And then eventually I noticed my mind was coming up with all these solutions, but I was just sitting on a bed safe, but my mind was literally fighting for its life for days. But I'm totally safe. And we always are sitting here in a place of thinking, I gotta fix this problem. And we're actually in fight or flight, life or death mode when we're totally safe almost the entire life.
Yeah.
So at one point I saw my mind was doing this and I realized I'm not my thoughts because my thoughts are coming up with this. And I was separate from the thoughts. And I realized I'm the one looking at this. And all of a sudden, my entire life story collapsed. And I was just this moment. And I stared at a wall for like five hours. And I felt totally free. And I realized I felt a freedom that was even better than who I am as having a number one Comedy Central special or. Or whatever it is. I'm actually this moment only. And I felt freer than I'D ever had been. And I flew back home after that and I tried to get my DVD player to play a movie and it wouldn't play it. And then tried a second one. I tried six movies and it wouldn't play it. Finally, the movie adaptation played and there's a scene in the movie where Nicholas Cage says to his brother, he goes, in high school, there's a girl you really loved and she was saying crap about you and you didn't care. And he said, why is that? And the brother said, because whatever she says about me, she can't take away from me how much I love her. And then he said, you are what you love, not what loves you. And I realized the only reason I had been stressing was I was under the illusion that who I am is what they think about me. And how could I be what someone thinks about me? What one person thinks about? One person could hate me, one person could love me. Their issues with me have to do with their crap and their childhood and their past. So if I think one person loves me, I become that and then think this person. No, I'm not what they think of me. I'm. Do I accept what they all think of me? I'm. Do I love them in their hatred of me? And when you go back to your childhood, that's who you actually are in your natural childhood state, you're just always. You don't care what you don't even know about what people think about you and you know what you want to be. You know you're going to be a singer, a dancer or a comedian. Yeah, you're not thinking about, well, yeah, but I got to consider this. Or will I sell enough? Or you just be that. And then society turns us into a consumer. So what our natural. So that when I was under the fear of what these people thought about me, I was under the illusion that who I was was what they thought about me. And that was my caterpillar moment. And so every time I have any issue at all, I asked myself what Michael Beck was said is what's trying to emerge out of me. So I'm excited with every time I have a conflict because I always know that only a story is scared, only an old identification is scared, only like if someone's talking crap about me. That's only affects me because I think who I am is my reputation. But if I get to I'm just this moment, then I can handle the lightness or the darkness of everything that everyone else thinks and then I can do bigger Things because I'm more in alignment with the entire world versus I'm this zone. I don't know if that makes sense.
Of course. Yeah.
But. So, yeah.
Wow, man. Wow. Well, we'll start it off.
I didn't realize we'd start in mid.
We will start it off there.
You're here with Kyle Cease.
Exactly.
Most attractive.
Exactly.
Powerful.
Well, welcome, everyone, to the School of Greatness podcast. We've got Kyle Cease in the house. Thank you so much for being here, man. I'm excited for this and for that intro, which we'll keep in.
I'm honored to be with you.
Yeah, I'm very excited about this. And I think before, we just had about like an hour and a half conversation about many things, things you're going through, other things that we're excited about in life, similarities, mutual friends, things like that. But I found out about you on Facebook. A Facebook video that you were promoting a while ago or one of your videos that went viral. And you've got a book out right now that my friend Michelle is publishing from Simon Schuster, and it's called I hope I screw this up. How falling in love with your fears can change the world. And I'm telling you guys, go get this book right now.
It's.
It's gonna be life changing for you.
Thank you. You were.
You were a comedian for 20 years, is that right? Comedy circuit?
Yeah. I started when I was 12, actually. 12. I was oblivious to the idea that I couldn't do it. You know, when we're kids, we just start. I started doing it before nerves existed in me. That's good. I hadn't learned yet. Life isn't that easy. And so I started doing comedy. And I remember one thing that was so funny when I was like 15 years old, I remember thinking, I was working clubs and I remember thinking, 15. 15? Yeah, 15. 16. Around there in LA or where? In Seattle. I grew up in Seattle. I actually started doing it in second grade. My teacher told me during class that if I'd be quiet, she'd give me five minutes at the end of the week to do whatever I wanted. And at the time, my uncle was the prop man for the famous 80s comedian Gallagher, who was the guy that smashed the watermelons. He was like a carrot top of the 80s. So I would do his act, which I didn't get. So with a Southern accent, I talk about, like, sex and taxes with a Southern accent to kids in elementary school. Yeah. And. But I always. People always said, one day you're going to be A comedian. Even that felt too distant for me. It was like I got mad. I'd be like, I'm famous now. Like in junior high, people be like, one day we're gonna see you on tv. And I would go, I'm in the yearbook and I'm featured in the local paper as this. And whenever you think I'm going to be, you're implying you're not there. You're now at day one of it versus day, you know, year 10 of it. Right, Right. So I was enjoying.
So you're saying I am this now. I'm not going to be this.
Yeah, this. I'm going to. You know, achievers always look at victims and say, your limited belief is I can't. Achievers. Limited belief is I'm going to. Because you're either on the treadmill or you're not. You're either meditating or you're not. And there's so many times people go to seminars and they get all pumped about their next year plan and it feels so good in their mind that they don't do anything anymore. Right, right. It's like that almost was the addiction.
They've got the good feeling so they just keep going to more events every week.
Right. It'd be like going to the gym and having them explain to you what a treadm is and all the benefits you'll get from a treadmill and you're like, awesome. And then you leave. But you didn't get on it. Yeah. And we, we have this one addiction that we never. I think everything's an addiction almost. We think it's alcohol or drugs, but it's also worrying. It's controlling other people. It's.
Happiness is an addiction.
Yeah. Excitement.
Anything's addiction.
I mean, like I'm so excited that's coming. So I'm not in the now about right now. I think this thing's bigger than right now.
Well, I'm excited about this trip that I'm always gonna be going on.
Right. If you think, like if I'm. If I was doing this, this talk with you and then later today I was going to be on like whatever Obama's, you know, or something. If I thought who I am.
Obama's got a show now.
Let me know.
Yeah.
Get me on after.
We have a great comedian. It's not a good. But if I, if I thought that was who I am. A huge illusion we are is when we're in this illusion. I think a huge illusion we live in is this. When something happens. I'll be Happy. Every one of us can think right now. We live in this world of when I finally get that number one show, when I finally get out of this relationship, when I finally get that body, that job, that career launch, that book. Launch that book. Right, exactly.
You wrote about that in your first couple pages. When I finally write this book, then they'll take me seriously, right? You said something like that.
Yeah, because that's the illusion. Right away, you're like, I got to do this. Right. Right. What does that mean? I got to do this the right way. When people say, how do I do this? What they're actually saying is, what does how mean? How do you even know if it's the right or wrong way? If I got something for it, right? How? How do I write a book? You got to do it the right way. Meaning I'm not complete unless I get something. You're writing from fear because you're saying, I'm in lack. Unless this sells a ton or people like it. So when I go on stage, if I'm like, how do I do a good job? I'm immediately under the illusion that who I am is what the audience thinks about me. And I'm not just love, as is that I'm in lack of love. So I'm actually creating from a place of lack. Every time I want something. Right. I'm creating from a place of I'm not enoughness. So if I'm under the place of when something happens, I'll be happy. I'm actually saying I'm not enough until I have that thing. The shift that I had after getting to have a lot of things, I was in the movie. Like, not another teen movie. I don't know if you've ever seen.
That, but 10 things I hate about you.
Yeah, I was in that too. But I remember getting the audition for not other team movie and thinking if I just went to producers, you know, and then I got to producers, and I was more enslaved.
If you just got to producers, meaning.
Like, if I could just get to the producers, like the second audition. Right, right. Get a call back and get a call back. Yeah. So then I get that, and I'm like, if I just book this, I'll be happy. Now I'm more intense, more not happy. And then I booked it, and then I'm like, okay, if my part just stays in. So they're editing it for nine months, and I'm just totally like, please give me that one line. Then it's in there.
Like, okay, now bigger movie.
I'm like now I got to get another movie and this one better be a hit. So if you think when something happens I'll be happy, or if I get that person, I'll be happy, you're actually saying I'm in lack without that thing. And immediately you put yourself in a place of making that thing bigger than you and your connection is to that thing. So if it leaves, you're not happy. It's your oxygen, so you strangle it. And that's why everything we think we want, we lose. Because you're not ready for it. If you want it, you got to get to a place where you love you enough, where the thing just naturally comes to you. Or better. Because if you think I want that thing. Right. If you're saying when I get that I'll be happy, you're not going to be able to create it nearly as much as when I'm happy. Things will happen when I don't need something to make me happy. Then you can create. And I totally believe in motivation, all that. It's so important. But I can't believe how much stuff wants to come to me that's so much bigger than the thing that I think that I'm going to get everything you think you want from here. The biggest vision board in the world still includes some of our past story, and our past story includes our lack and our lacking.
Yeah.
Yeah. So the best vision board I could make for this year is nothing compared to what could actually happen if I instead just fall in love with not knowing and show up and stay in the room if I just don't know what I'm going to say. So, like when I do my events, we do these evolving out loud, two day events. I don't know what I'm going to say at all. I. The whole time, there's nothing scheduled. If I had scheduled something, I'd be immediately enslaved to. It has to go this way.
Expectation of a certain look.
Yeah. So then you're not going with the moment. You're going with the. It has to be this way. So I'm not moving from my heart. I'm moving from my memory and my head from what I scripted because I wanted to do it the right way so I could get something from the audience. But if instead I start with I don't know what I'm going to say. And I love that. What if we start this podcast with I don't know what's going to happen And I love that. I love not knowing. How much more freedom do you have? Because we are under the illusion that when we think. I don't know. That we have to learn how to know. But what if you instead let it unfold how it wants to and then you can play, Then you're in your heart immediately, you're not stuck. And it has to be a certain way, and then everything that happens is perfect.
Yeah, I'm aligned to that. But I also think it's good for us to have a vision of what we want to.
Totally. Right.
As opposed to like, yeah, we'll just see how this book unfolds and I'll just start writing and whatever happens, happens.
Totally.
You have to have a vision of like. Well, my intention is to impact and inspire people with.
Now, what if by doing that, the vision shows up? Right. Versus aiming it. In other words, like, it's just a thought.
Yeah, yeah.
Because what my vision is is still here, but it's about my connection to myself. Right. And then everything that I create outside of it is a byproduct of that.
True.
Right. So the vision still there. The vision is I want to connect to myself. But if my vision is, I want a million of these to sell.
Yep.
Okay. What if inside I could have created something that could have made a billion of these cells, but I'm sitting here going, it's got to be a million. And so I'm already on a track of this way versus me just going, what could I just create now? And you just create stuff like you're planting gardens all over the place.
So do you think we shouldn't have goals at all?
I think intention is cooler than goals. I definitely think goals are important, but a goal is, I want to make this thing happen. Right. An intention is different. An intention is, I'm going to align with playing and still have a direction. Like, I'm not like accidentally working at a fast food place. You know what I mean?
You're doing something you love.
Right. And the real way I do this is actually, I just ask myself. This might sound crazy, but it's really cool. I ask myself, what in my life feels light and expands my body and what feels heavy? Okay. Everything in my life that feels heavy. Unless it's something I have to have. Like if I have a kid or something. Right. If it feels heavy, that's a different thing. So, for instance, we have two voices in our body. I really believe the first voice says something that's just a feeling and it'll just tell you the next step. So the voice shows up and it goes something like, what if I just Leave this company. Right. You're working for a company. You're not fulfilled it. The voice shows up. What if we just leave this? It can't tell you why because you've never done it, but it feels kind of expansive. It feels good. And that feeling is a preview. It's saying, when you leave this, you'll always feel this way. Right? So you can feel that. And we have this voice all day. It's the voice that says, I'm going to go to Italy, or I want to just write a book, or, what if I start a band? Or what if I ask that person out? Or leave this company? So there's this first voice that goes, what if we do that and you can feel it in your body? It feels crazy, right? And then a second voice shows up that we've learned to listen to. That's a small voice in here, but it's louder. And it goes, yeah. And it comes up with the stupidest reason why we shouldn't. So it goes, what if we leave this company? Yeah, but if we do, we can't go to the Cheesecake Factory party next Thursday.
Or I'll get that bonus.
Or, Right? And the first voice goes, dude, if you'd learn to listen to me. I can't tell you this because I want you to move based on faith, but if you learn to listen to me, you'll own all the cheesecake factories in a month. And you can make them all vegan if you want.
Right?
Right.
And the second voice is like, yeah, but they got those Thai lettuce wraps. Anyone who's ever stayed in a relationship too long because they know eventually both of you were going camping, know what I'm talking about. And you. I want to break up with this person, but Thanksgiving's coming, so I guess I'll hate them until Thanksgiving and stay in hell until Christmas.
And then what's the next one?
Valentine's Day? I can't break up before that.
Right.
And then I'm in routine because summer's coming and.
Yeah. Right. So what I've discovered is that the goal or the idea unfolds itself the more I align with my body. So when I do something that excites me, just taking the next step, like a GPS doesn't tell you all the directions, right? It just says, here's the next thing to do. So the way I like to work that has seemed to work really well is to go with trusting the moment and trusting that. That feeling that says, I'm going to put you in your body if you move into your body. That means you just let go of some of your old story because you're in your. You can feel when you're in your head. It's right here. Right. But if you move into something that feels like an opportunity and you say yes to it immediately.
Can I give you example?
Yeah. I'm totally talking so much, but I'm just excited to be with you.
You're the guest, man.
That's right.
Right.
Hey, do you mind if I tell you a story on the thing?
I don't want to hear myself talk. That's why I brought you on.
Well, here, let's make it look that I'm letting you talk, even. Thanks. Is there any. Do you have any questions?
Yeah, go ahead. What's your thing?
Oh, yeah. What are you thinking about right now, Louis? Thanks for asking. Here's a great example. One day, I was doing an event at the time, we had 200 people in the audience, or 200 people.
It's weak, man.
I know.
Step your game up.
Well, that's what happened, is if you.
Had a goal of how many people you'd want to reach, maybe you'd reach more.
Well, check this out. It's so weird you say that. There's not even a camera here.
If you had 1400.
Thank you.
Horse in theater that you said, hey, I want to fill this theater.
Right. Well, this is what happened.
Why are you limiting yourself?
Well, that's what. Well, check this out. So that's weird, because what you're saying and what I'm saying actually complement each other. They're perfect. You do need goals. You need this. But there's also this element of playing with what you're feeling and learning stuff that might even be beyond the goal, because sometimes people have a goal. Like, I just want to make this relationship good, and I'm going to come up with this thing. But they might actually still be with someone that doesn't align with them.
True.
Or I'm going to be number one at this job. Meanwhile, you're ignoring this thing that's like, I'm could be in a band or creating this thing that I love doing.
Art, music.
Yeah. So what level is your goal at? Is it your goal that you think, when I finally get there, I'll be happy from a limited space? Or what happens if we surrender more and hear a goal that's even higher and crazier and weirdly will move there faster if we stop trying so much and allow. Right. So Dan, my teammate, said to me, he goes, we just did a 200 seat event, and it was actually hard to fill.
Yeah.
At the time. And Dan said, so what do you want to really do? And I said, I want to do a 2,000 seater. And right when I said that, my body got excited and my brain showed up and went, dude, you barely showed 200.
Yeah.
Right. And I actually felt two bodies. Like, I want to do 2,000 seats, but this is. Here's why I can't. Right. And we have this with everything. I want to leave this company. Yeah. That feel good? Yeah. But I wouldn't make any money. You can't see how much money you're losing by staying in a job you hate.
Yes.
Right. So immediately it's too. So I said to Dan, okay, I feel this opportunity here, but there's this fear. If you step into the opportunity, the fear goes away. Because the fear isn't of the thing you're about to do. It's of choosing to do the thing you are about to do. When people go skydiving, they always say the scariest moment is when I'm looking over the side of the plane. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, but that. You're safe in that moment. They always say, when I leap off the plane, I'll be fine. You're going 10,000 miles an hour. I'll be fine once I jump. And I'm completely not safe.
Yeah.
You weren't scared of skydiving. You were scared of choosing to let go of your old story. Right. So he said, what do you want to do? I said, I want to do 2,000 seats. Okay. Let's call the Saban theater. We call the Saban theater. So when I. So that's my skydive. Right. Say yes, Make a decision. Go. Right.
Let's lock on the date. Let's figure out the rates.
Right. Let's get stuck in. We have to sell 2,000 seats. Right. So we call the Saban theater and find out it would cost $60,000 to rent it for a weekend. So immediately both bodies showed up again. Do you want to pay 60,000? Yeah, but I can't. So we just find where. I said yes. Tell them yes. Okay. So I said yes. And immediately my mind went to another channel where it had different ideas. That was not the limited guy that was gonna make this choice. Now I'm a guy who does 2000 cedars. So my mind was actually asking very different questions because I had said yes to this. So right when I said that, my mind came up with this. It goes, what if you, there's a pod. There's a radio show called kpfk, a public funded station. What if you just donated a thousand tickets to them and let them, for their fun drive, raise money? And my body then went, that would be very easy and effortless. But I have to make money to fill the theater. Right. So I texted kpfk, a friend of mine there, and I said, I'm going to give you a thousand tickets. And they said, well, then we're giving you your own radio show. I didn't realize this feeling was including a bunch of stuff that I didn't know about. Whenever you're scared to let go of something, the only reason is because your mind can measure what you will lose. It can't see what you will gain. So when you're scared of breaking up with someone, your mind is scared because it's focused on the loss of one person versus the gain of 7.2 billion people. If you're bisexual and willing to date everybody.
Absolutely.
So immediately I said to kpfk, I'll do that. They said, yeah, you got it. Then I found out Saban Theater is taking too long to get back to us. So we're going to find another theater. Wow. So we called the Alex Theater in Glendale. They were like $15,000 for the theater. And KPFK immediately it was 1400, which was like, that's a great step up. Yeah. KPFK immediately fills the theater with a thousand seats. And we're so excited that the other 400 was so easy. And I realized it was easier to fill 1400 seats than 200 seats because we're more excited about it. And the higher excitement you are, the more you don't see how it won't work. When you're in a good mood, you can make anything work. You know when you fall in love with someone and you make anything work, you could be like, oh, you hate cherries. I love cherries. Great. I'll just eat them and you don't. Or we both like cherries. Like, everything fits.
Yeah.
Right. So when you're in a good mood, you don't see how it won't work. And when you're. When you do something that excites you, you immediately put yourself into a good mood. It's almost like going to channel A hundred. Channel two still available in the room. But you only see what you're tuned to, Right?
Yeah.
So when he said, what do you want to do? There's a speaker named Bashar that says that, who I like a lot. He's cool. But Dan said to me, what do you want to do? And my body came up with all these reasons why I can't. The old story couldn't, not me. And whenever you're scared to let go of something, you're not scared of letting go of that thing. You're scared of letting go of your old story that got love for being in that limitation. And you'll realize that who you are is just this moment. And this moment doesn't have problems. There are stories that show up. You might go, I'm scared. I'm whatever. But you'll realize it's your past story that got love for being scared. Yeah, it's scared, not you. So you might go. So what I have people do at our events is I have them go, they say whatever their fear is and follow it with. And I love that. Because it's not your fear that's bothering you, it's your resistance to the fear. Right.
Give me an example. So what are you afraid of? What are you afraid of the most right now in your life?
Anything.
Yes.
As we do this more and more.
What's this?
Put yourself as we. As we put yourself out there.
More. Bigger audience and speak more.
Yeah. What? I think one thing is what people think of you. What their what, how people perceive themselves in you. Like there's all kinds of different stuff like that. Right. So if there's anything in particular that you're scared of, Like I'm scared that I won't be enough. I'm scared someone will. You'll realize that the fear is inside you, it's not outside you. Right. And the reason it's there is because we're in resistance to the fear. So if you say I'm totally nervous and I love that, immediately you free yourself because you become the space that's looking at the nerves versus the nerves itself.
So you mean you're separating yourself from it.
Right.
You're like looking at the nervousness as opposed to it being you.
Yeah. So what's something you're scared of?
Staring at a blank wall. Right now I'm trying to think, should we ask them? I don't know, is there. What's my big fears?
I mean, or their fear.
Oh, that'll be alone. Is that my big fear? I don't know if that's my big fear anymore.
Let's say it works, okay? Yeah. So say I'm going to be alone. And I love that.
I'm going to be alone and I love that.
Yeah. Immediately. What's that feel like? When you say that.
I don't know.
It doesn't feel scary.
Right. Because it's not being a lot. People go, well, yeah, but what if I don't get the job? They're deciding. It's their judgment that they think they should get the job that's the problem versus, yeah, if you don't get the job, that's going to be space for a better job or whatever.
Right, right, right, right.
So it's not that you're scared you'll be alone, it's that you're scared. It's that you're in resistance to that. You're scared that you'll be alone. Yes. But if you love that you'll be alone, what happens is there's a little you that shows up that hasn't been seen by our parents in a certain way, and it's trying to do things the right way to get love the way it did in its childhood. Yeah. And we need to be the space of love for that kid now. And by the way, with all the things that you want in your life, way better things will show up when you clear out this crap through loving it. Right?
Loving your fears.
Loving your fears. So if I said, you know, accepting.
It, loving it, acknowledging it and saying.
Okay, fall in love with your fears. Because the only problem is you're addicted to an old story where that fear, you got love for it.
If you are fully on the highest vibration, do you understand how much more valuable you are than money and how much more. Remember Buddhist monks? There's millionaire achievers that go to Buddhist monks all the time. The reverse never happens. There's no Buddhist monks going, how do.
I get the link I need to make millions?
Yeah. Why is that? Because the highest thing we have, the number one asset we have, is our connection to ourselves. Most of us think it's money, so we make that the highest vibration. But it's not inner peace. It's inner peace. It's this moment and you have that available. And we over, you know, the best things in life are. Free is a very cliche sentence, but it's true. And that's true. But also, we only pay attention to what we invest in financially. So we overlook meditating here, but if we could pay to meditate, we'd all of a sudden do it. So we have to understand that what is free for real will bring in everything else that you want. I have a rule too, with money that you might think is cool. This is a thing that I want to offer people. If you're trying to figure out how to create a space for money. I offer people to think about how they think about money. Like, think about how unconsciously you think about it. Like, you're never enough. You're the root of all evil. Whatever. Now picture that. You're money on a date with you. And if you're on a date with a person who says, you're never enough, you're the root of all evil. You'd never want to be there, right? Well, money doesn't want to be in the vibration.
You reject that person. You reject that person. So you're rejecting money, right?
When you think that, yeah, yeah, I'm going to. How else do we say, I'm going to use you to get someone to like me? I'm going to. This is how money is seen. So how could money show up if that's how you see it? Because you wouldn't stay with someone on a date that said, you're never enough. You're the root of all evil. It's like, okay, so how would you like to be seen on a date? You'd like to be seen as, I love you no matter what. No matter if you're small or big, if you're off or on, if you're feeling like shit, I love you all the way. And if you can look at your debt or have $1 in the bank and go, I love you, now you're creating a vibrational space for it to show up because you're safe. Because your focus isn't on money and how it needs to change. You're much better off because you're on how you're going to change. And when you start changing like we just did, and looking at these things and not needing to overcome as much as loving it, now you're focused on the thing that actually creates the money. Remember, every dollar you've ever made came from you. So don't get excited about money. Get excited about you.
Mmm.
Right?
Zing.
Like, if I went on a hike with you, we get lost in the woods. I round a corner, I'm not with you, and we find a waterfall. I find it. You don't see it. I fill a cup up with water and I come back and I say to you, dude, a cup of water. What am I not showing you? Yeah, I'm showing you the small thing.
Yeah.
Not the waterfall, not where it came from.
The source.
The source of the water is the much more important thing. So none of us look at the source of where our money came from. We look at the money. So you're sitting here dwelling. Not you, but people that were dwelling on the cup of water.
Yeah. Not us being the source of creating more.
Every dollar you've ever made came from you. Get excited about you start the focus on what you are, not what money will give you.
And your energy is going to attract or repel more wealth. A mentor of mine said I was at a salsa club learning how to salsa dance. Terrified out of my mind. And I saw a guy who was amazing, who was a public speaker. He actually got me into public speaking and he said the world makes room for passionate people.
I think.
Money is attracted to passionate people as well, because people are passionate about life. They bring in energy, they bring. Bring a richness, a fullness, a richness. And they attract riches, whether it be through the community or the art they're creating or the business they're creating.
Yes.
And you're going to start to attract.
Especially in this time, because I know there's people watching this go, well, what do you say about all the greedy billionaires and blah, blah, blah. And what I say is that's the old consciousness. In fact, we see through it and it's starting to crumble. So the old way of doing things selfish was a conscious shift because I believe in like the 50s, everyone was just like a factory worker working for. And then it was like this breakaway where an entrepreneurial boom happened. So taking your focus off of the old story and moving into what you are and learning how your thinking changes things was the highest consciousness we understood at the time. So at that time, that created this old consciousness of your focus, you know, changes it, so you think positive, whatever, and that created it. And then we keep going and take a good thing too far. And then all of a sudden it's this billionaire thing. You can feel the most controlling mindsets crumbling. You can feel the suicides from the people that have made lots of money. But see that it's not the answer. You can feel the people that are controlling other people. All the control. As the control fell in you during this interview, as you said goodbye to the old story and kind of loved it all control in the world is starting to fall and the old structures aren't working. And what will work in the new century, in the new future, is the birth of this consciousness, this consciousness following your heart. You will not be able to make money just from massive achievement. It won't work. I'm telling you, it's going to be. We see through it. The consciousness sees through it. It's too small. When there's going to be a major influx of Martin Luther King's Mr. Rogers, Oprah's Wayne Dyer's. It's coming because we're so repressed that our hearts are going to springboard like the Renaissance, and there's going to be. You know what I'm saying?
That's true. You mentioned this a couple of times, and it reminded me of another mentor of mine, Chris Hawker. I was working as an intern for him for about six months when I was on my sister's couch, broke, no money. My dad had just gotten into an accident, a car accident, that left him in a coma for three months. And he was kind of my safety net. He was my financial stability where he would support me financially on things. And he always said, when you're done living your dream and chasing your football career, whatever it is, you can always come work for me.
Wow.
He had an insurance company, life insurance. And I did the whole, like, insurance internship and did the testing, and I almost failed three times on, like, getting my whatever it Is, like the series, something, whatever. The life insurance test that I had to pass so I could sell life insurance. I should have stopped after I failed the first time because I just knew it wasn't for me. But I did it so I could have this backup plan.
Wow.
And so when my dad got in his accident, he had to sell his company to his partner because he was no longer able to work anymore. And I didn't have the financial stability like I had before. So I was sleeping on my sister's couch for a year and a half, and I was working as an intern for about six months with someone that I was learning a lot from. And I remember at one point being like, man, I just really want some money. I feel like I've been working hard for a few years. Like, I really could use some money. I'm not paying any rent money at my sister's. I feel like a loser because I can't contribute to her. I can't even get my own apartment. I'm just a loser. I was 24 at the time. I was like, man, I'm just a loser of a guy. And he said something to me that. Well, you said. He said, money comes to you when you're ready for it. And I was like, I feel really ready. You know, I could really use the money right now.
And he goes, I didn't say desperate for it exactly.
We didn't say that. But he was like, it's going to come to you when you're ready for it. And when it starts to come, it's going to make sense. I was like, gosh, I just want it though. I just want it right now. And it's funny because maybe a year later it started to come and then it started to really come pretty quickly, like six months to a year after that. I remember reflecting a year and a half prior, I was like, man, I wasn't ready for this. If this would have came two years prior, I would have blown it. I would have been scared of it, I wouldn't have been prepared for it. Like, I would have been so freaked out by the numbers in my bank account. I would have sabotaged it probably. And so I really feel like it comes to you when you are prepared and ready. And sometimes it's not when you want it to be.
And when people say, how do you get prepared and ready?
That's the key. So how do you prepare and ready?
So for me, meditation, like gets me to understand that I'm the abundance, not money. And the second you understand that you're the abundance, and I mean understand it.
In your nervous system.
I mean, don't just hear that sentence while you're still dying for it in your body. Like really be in the alignment of understanding that I'm the abundance. Wayne Dyer said beautifully, you know, there's a thing that everyone thought you don't attract, that you attract what you want. And Wayne Dyer said, you don't attract what you want, you attract what you are, what you're in vibration of. So if you want abundance, you need to get to a place where you understand your abundance and everything comes into your life. The second you finally don't want it, it's not, not don't want it. Like avoiding, like you don't need it, not desperate.
Yeah.
The second you stop looking for it, you don't even remember you wanted it. That's because you have to access the fulfillment of the connection to yourself first. And then weirdly, it's going to create first of all, so many creative things, but you're going to just start, first of all, you're so aware that you see things differently. Like think of just the. Just that when someone's in their head, they're walking down the street on their phone worrying, you could pass a hundred dollar bill and not even see it, right? But when you're not in your head, you suddenly start to see all these dots connecting and everything meaning something different. And you see every moment as meaningful. Like last night I was waiting to go into a restaurant. One guy recognized me and said, Hi. And we created a friendship because he's also a musician. That's cool. And then this four year old girl comes in and just sees me and starts dancing in front of me and showing me her toys. And I just had. That moment was so much cooler than if I was looking through wondering, you know, what is going on in politics. And yeah, that was fulfilling that moment. And because that's fulfilling. And then on my way to the table, each step is fulfilling now this is more fulfilling than anything I perceive could come to me to make me happy. Once you actually have practiced understanding that this moment is more important than anything you think you want. Now you are abundance, not money. And once you're abundant, it's impossible for it to not come. You're going to start feeling safe to everybody. They're going to want to hire you. You're going to get bizarre offers. They'll just say, can you help me through something? Can you create this thing? You'll get an alignment with your creative gifts more than your fix it gifts to make money. You'll be in this higher thing, you'll be worth more. Better jobs will start asking you. You'll start to actually feel heavy when million dollar offers are coming in because you're like, even that I don't want. And then it just. Every time I say no to something, even if it's a huge thing, the bigger thing comes up. It's like life's like, how about this? How about this? And then the only question I ask is, does this expand me or contract me?
Oh yeah, that's good, right?
If it expands me, then I say yes. And I can feel that within two seconds, if I get to a pros and cons list, I'm already in contracting. Do you get what I'm saying?
Wow.
So a way that I always give an example is if you've ever had lunch, you ever have lunch plans with someone and then you hope that they cancel. Yeah. Okay. That's your highest saying, cancel. But you're used to living a notch below it, so you wait for them to do it. So that's what I'm talking about, is the highest. What expands me so it expands. You know what expands me a lot is saying no to a lot of things.
Isn't that so powerful?
Yeah. Saying no, like hardest things to learn how to do.
But then it's one of the most freeing things when you can, when you're in that space.
Yeah.
Because there's times where you might think my highest is to go out and get laid or Party. But it's actually like, really, sometimes my highest is to go to bed early. Sometimes really my highest. Like, it's not our highest to do what we're doing. Is it your highest to go on Facebook a hundred times a day? No, no. But we still do it. So we live second highest. And we miss out on the universe. Right. So for me, it expands me to be in alignment with the universe in that moment.
How important is developing skills and value? There's one thing of, like, being abundance and being acceptance and all these things, but there's another thing of, like, okay, well, the person still doesn't have any skills that are valuable for someone else to give them money.
So crazy answer here.
Yeah.
That's a belief that they need the skills. So let me. Let me explain that. So let's first of all talk about value.
Okay.
Value is perceived, right?
Sure. And most people think value is what they're worth is based on what's in the bank. Right. You could say that person got a net worth of 20 million, whatever. Cool, that's nice.
But if. What?
But there's some people that could lose that money and remake it again in 10 minutes. Like Tina Turner, if her bank account got robbed tomorrow, could just go on tour and fill it again.
Right.
Then there's some people who inherited it and won or won the lottery. And if that went away, they're still not valuable at that moment, at least. Right. So what's the cause of value? Is it how much money you have or is it what's under it?
Right.
And what you understand is under it, the factor of value is, do you understand how valuable you are?
Right.
So how do you understand how valuable you are?
By creating the evidence of it, whether it's through leaps, whether it's.
So.
So for me, when I started saying no to really tempting things, it would be really hard that moment. Like, it'd be really hard. I remember when I was like, no dating for six months, and then like, the Swedish bikini teams, like, even us, and you're like, no, it's a joke. I didn't get to turn down the switch. But when you start saying no, it might be hell in that moment, but the next day you wake up and you're like, now even I'm someone that can say no to that. Like, now I'm elevating myself above that temptation. So if I'm somebody who can say no to that, you feel the force in that. So that's one thing. So there's a lot of skills. I believe that we might need. But if they aren't your highest to do them, they're not a 10. And if they're not a 10, that affects all of what you do. My friend Glenn Morshauer says if you pee in part of the pool, you pee in all the pool. So my company, my job in my company is to do this, is to go on stage, is to coach people, is to be the space to co write the book, to make the movie. I don't do the accounting, right? I have no idea how to do the accounting. I don't give a shit about the accounting. I don't do the wardrobe, I don't do any of that. But there are people who, it is their 10 to do that. So I delegate that because if I did this thing, that's a thing three energetically, then I'm going to average and bring that onto the stage. My energy will be more depleted because I'm doing things in my life that are like that same thing. If you're out of alignment in whatever area, you're bringing that into all of it. You get what I'm saying?
So true.
So that's my answer to the skills thing. Because there's stuff that we're just natural at and most of us disqualify what we're naturally good at. Because it hasn't been done before, right? They go, why would anyone want just stay with it? Because that thing you have is new. That thing you have is calling to you. And it might not make sense now, but so many people I've worked with are like, well, one thing I'm passionate about is this, but I can't seem like. Stop. The second part, the. Yeah, but it's the old story. This thing you just said feels good to my body. Doesn't it feel? Well, yeah, but no one will make money. No, you're using the past story literally. What this is what we are. What we are is the universe trying to change the planet through you. The universe is trying to change itself to a higher consciousness through you. That's what's happening when we receive on a higher level. It's like higher level ideas come through. So when you, when you meditate or whatever, you have an insight that's higher, that insight you go, it's exciting, but you can't make sense. You can't wrap your mind around it, follow it. You're not supposed to wrap your mind around it. One thing people say is, I can't wrap my mind around it. You're not here to shove the infinite vastness of what you are into your teeny mind. You're here to acclimate your mind to the vastness of what you are.
Zing.
That's the difference. There's so many quotes that people say insult people that live in their hearts. Like, this person went off the deep end. The implication is the shallow end is better. This person went over their head. Yeah. I'm using my whole body, right? Right.
Not staying in my head.
Are you out of your mind? You better believe it. I'm in my heart.
Exactly.
It's easier done than said. How about it's too big for your britches. You're too big for your. How about we change pants and adjust to me versus me show shoving myself in my old britches.
What are we, in the 20s?
These old quotes that are bullshit. Every insulting quote, if you just reverse it. It's so funny how dumb it looks. Oh, dude, you're out of your mind. You're right. You're in your head, right? It's like you're thinking small. You better be out of your mind. I love to go over my head. So I have to use my body, right? Because just my small mind can't grasp these concepts we're talking about, but my body knows it. Like, if you listen to this, you have to be listening from your body. You cannot listen from the small story. In fact, this is very offensive to the small story.
Right?
How dare he? I'm in this limitation, and then. And most of us, instead of fighting for our freedom, fight for our limitation.
Because that's a safe space, right? Yeah, it's safe. Safer being limited.
Totally. Well, it's. It's safe. Ironically, it's not. It's actually the most dangerous place, though.
It seems safer.
Yeah, but it's more in that place.
Yeah. Yeah.
But I mean, what we call a safe space could be an abusive relationship. It could be. It's just you're used to it. So because you didn't die, you go, that's safety. And everything that I've never seen before. I don't know that I won't die. So my body's scared of it. But the truth is, usually what the body's got is way better. And it will change your consciousness from here to here. And then you'll get this new calling once you're here to here. And you start moving up versus forward, motivationally, you start moving in this different way.
Levitating?
Yeah.
Wow.
What do you think of this?
I love this, man.
Is this crazy?
We've gone for, like, probably a couple hours and I'm not even keeping track of time.
I know, man.
Infatuated by this.
And this is such a calling for me. And I'm so in a belief that we could create really rapid change immediately if we would start seeing our feelings follow the vibrational callings versus what you think you have to do based on the small story. The amount of change on this planet that can happen in like a week is so nuts, it moves exponentially. So when you're looking ahead and going, what's going to happen next year? You're not including all of this we're talking about. And you don't know how many possibilities are going to birth themselves really quickly and how if you're sitting here going, how am I going to pay rent? And two months, you're backwards in two months. Do you know how much you can do from this place versus from the small stories vision of what it can see? It's crazy. I went nuts on this one. I hope you like it.
I love it, man.
This is great. Your book is out. The illusion of money. Why chasing money is stopping you from receiving it. We probably spent 10% of the time talking about money and 90% of the time talking about the work it takes to actually start receiving it. Yes, it's everything.
That's the factor, that is the stuff. And by the way, we have a thing right now where if you order the book on anything and you put. You go to our website. I have a movie.
What's the website?
My website's kylesease.com or also evolvingoutloud.com but right now we have a movie that we've made and it's about this. And I'm here to birth a new consciousness. And we all are.
The movie's free if they buy the book.
If they get the book, you can go to. You can literally go on Barnes and Noble or Amazon, get the book, grab the order number, go to my website, put the order number in. And right now you'll have the movie. Like right now the movie's all about.
I saw the trailer for it. I'm gonna watch it tonight. But it's a lot of the case studies of people who have these stories, the stories that they've been telling themselves for years, they grew up in and the feelings attached to these stories and what's keeping people down from abundance of money.
Yes.
What I'm understanding.
Yeah. Like, so there's. There's several different stories, including my story in there and a lot of my talking and gorgeous, beautiful nature shots and a reminder of what's really real and these people that have these stories that did what they thought they needed to do to make money. Right. I better become a lawyer because I don't want to experience what my mom experienced in her childhood. And that makes money. So, like, there's a person that has that story. There's another person who had a good job on Wall Street. Another person had a good job at Department of Water and Power making money. And then they did this thing where they like the girl, this woman, Sharon. She was at the law firm and not happy, but she started eating really healthy and felt so good that she started getting really high vibrational, feeling good, raw, vegan type food. So she started making it for everyone in the firm. And then they all felt good. And it started being so fun for her that she couldn't wait to get home to go do that. So she realized that's her passion.
Wow.
And now she's more abundant, but every second she's in heaven.
You should.
She talks like I do.
Right?
Where it's like, I'm so excited about this.
Yeah.
This is how we want to live. We can all live like happy alive, not dead alive. You don't have to be yesterday ever again. You can start now. Just close your eyes and meditate for a couple hours. It'll clear that shit out. I mean, you don't have to live in a stressful, anxious story. It's a story. You're making your story. Your God versus God, your God versus the universe versus the moment.
Well, I want to acknowledge you for a moment because you spent 22 years as a comedian chasing, pursuing a dream, living the dream that you wanted to live. And then you decided that that wasn't as fulfilling anymore for you. And instead of saying, well, I've put 22 years of my life into this. Is this my identity? I need to stick it out. Because look at all the work I've done. Look at the credibility I have now. Look at the success. I can't just stop and go do something else.
You did.
You transitioned into something else and use that 22 years of skills into something else to help people with your events, with your meditation retreats, with your books. And then you transition even more into another topic of money, which some people might be like, you're a comedian. Why are you talking about money? Yes, but I think you have a lot of wisdom around this from your.
Experience in the comedy, too.
That creativity.
Exactly. I acknowledge you for constantly reinventing yourself, pursuing ideas.
Thank you.
Pursuing challenges that my people may say, ah, stay in your lane. Yeah, go be the funny guy.
I love how that's my lane.
Right.
Like, what I did is you were like, you know, I'll say that. It's funny you say that. One thing that you pointed out is this thing. Well, if you've done it for a long time, I hear that so much. Like, I've paid this much so far to go to this school, even though it's not my passion anymore, I should keep going. Okay, let me ask you this. Let's say you pay for a plane ticket to go from here to France, and in one hour it starts going down and you have a parachute available. Should you say, I paid for the whole flight and stay on the plane?
Yeah.
No, you should jump out.
You need to get out of the plane. And our old story is often a plane going down. And one of the reasons we stress is we're attached to the old story. Your story is trying to die every day. And if you understood you're the moment, then you can be a space for the old story to be pulled from you. If the old story is what you think you are, you're going to go down with it. Now, I have a theory that's really crazy, or there's a way that I see this in a lot of cases, when a doctor tells someone you have six months to live, I believe that's your old story in a lot of cases. Because sometimes they're saying if you eat different, if you, you know. But then you go, well, who I am is someone who eats meat.
So, no, I'm addicted to sugar.
Yeah. So you'll go down with the story because you're saying that. But that's an opportunity to meet a new story. And a lot of times our old stories are the sickness, the pain, all of that.
Right?
So if you have someone tell you something like that, try a new way of eating. Try a new way of living. Live. You know, and it's ironic because a lot of times when people hear that now they got nothing to lose, so they live fully. We see the greatest art of them free. They're free. They cry.
They release.
And there's many stories where. Where that prognosis was wrong and they lived a lot longer.
They heal.
They heal themselves.
They heal. So just so you know, the only reason we stress is because we don't embrace death. And every day, parts of our stories are trying to die. I mean, our skin cells are doing this shit all day, Right. Could you imagine if you thought you were yesterday's skin cells? So you're like packing it on your face.
Sure.
Death is part of life. And the more you embrace death, the more life you get. Because a ton of your old story is trying to die. And if you just chill and let it, you know, it's just like. And the old relationship might be trying to die, and the old story of who you were with your mother is trying to die, and the old job is trying to die. If we aren't holding on, there's no tree that like, grabs its leaves in the fall and, like, don't. This is me, you know?
Right.
There'd be no room for new leaves.
That's right.
You couldn't make new leaves.
New fruit.
No. New apples. Yeah, that's it.
When we were kids, if you and I went to another planet right now, and we were raised by two 30 foot tall aliens. I usually say 20, but because you're so big, I made them 30 foot tall.
Thank you.
And we're raised by two 30 foot tall aliens, and neither one of them spoke English. And we don't know who they are. We're just put on this planet and for 20 years we're raised by these giant things. And one of them comes home drunk every night. And it's just screaming. It's like. And you start to learn, I better not speak out or this thing's gonna hurt me or abandon me or leave me. Right. And then the other alien really loves it when you tap dance. Let's say that alien gets all the other. So you start to learn for 20 years, the way life works is don't speak out. And when I tap dance, I get love. And then you go. And everyone has two different aliens. Right. Then you go to the rest of the planet and you're tap dancing. And those aliens are like, I don't.
Even like tap dancing.
That's our parents. Right?
Yeah.
And. And you go back to their childhood. Their parents were in like, the Great Depression. You go back 10 more generations. You're in slavery and Viking times. And none of them did the work we're doing. Right. So that we're getting bags of all this crap from, like the 1400s. You know, they're like, teach them club are in the temple and drag her home. That's the training that. And then parents learn. They teach their kids to survive. You need to survive. Don't do what you want to do. Become this. Become a lawyer or this thing. And you start to learn joy. Yeah. So you start to go, well, I want to do this thing, but I'm going to lose love. That I got from my parents if I step into the great thing that I am.
Yes.
So.
But that they disappoint them.
They're going to abandon me. And I don't want to be abandoned.
And there's a replacement for that, which is you being the space of love for you that you've never gotten from your parents. They did the best they could that you forgive them, you love them, and then you just go, okay, what is it I'm scared of? And I'm scared to tell my parents that I want to do. Okay. I'm gonna tell me that I'm scared that I won't be enough. And I love that all of a sudden it feels not alone. Right. I'm scared that people won't like me. And I love that people might not like me. And I love that people might be crazy. And I love that people might write me really weird messages. And I love that people might do bizarre things. And I love that I might not be.
People attack me. People might.
Yeah. I might be broke. I might be in millions of dollars debt. And I love that. Now people might think that's just crazy because then you're just ignoring it. No. You're creating a space that's bigger that will totally create and take care of those problems. As a byproduct, I've learned that everything that I'm scared of losing, everything that I'm scared of losing is going to have to be taken away from me to make room for what I really am. If someone walked by you with a glass and they were scared to death that they're going to drop it, what would you do for them?
Like, I'm scared.
Right.
I got it.
So the universe takes from you everything that you're scared you're going to lose to show you that you're enough on the other side of that thing without it. Right. So you're scared you're going to lose money. Cool. The universe will make you broke so.
You can realize I'm still alive.
I'm still here.
I can make things happen. I can. I'm resourceful. I can go create a new life for myself.
In fact, you are stifling your amazing gift because you were so focused on what you would lose.
So when we're afraid of the thing.
Yes.
That thing's gonna show up in our lives.
Right. And I'm not saying fears don't happen. There's stuff that I told you that I'm dealing with in my life. Right. And you feel it. And I sometimes just by saying the thing you're scared of, you connect with other people. If you go on stage and you're nervous, say you're nervous.
Yeah.
You go into a job interview, say you're nervous. The boss knows exactly what nerves feel like and connects with you. Right. So that's our job, is to access this part of us that really is good at creating, that really knows what it wants so much more than our mind knows. So I totally believe in goals, and I just believe that there's even bigger goals sometimes than the goals we make that want to come through and will when you clear out all the crap that you're not. So have you ever had it where you want to write a blog and you try and you can't. You're trying to get the right blog.
Have you ever had it also where.
A blog shows up in you and just writes you? Yeah, I like to live in that second place.
Yeah, me too.
Right.
Just comes out.
Yeah.
Can't stop the flow. It's just like, greatest ideas ever.
Yeah. There's so many things that we want to create and want to be created through us. An apple tree just wants to make apples. It's not sitting here going, how many apples will I sell? You know, what if people don't like apples? That pear tree already is making those. Is this too close?
Right.
If it did. Did I say it's making apples? Yes. If it did, then it wouldn't create the apples. So how many apples are we not making? Because we're so obsessed with what we'll get versus what's trying to come out.
Yeah.
Whenever I do events with people and they have, like, all these plans set up for the event, I'm like, man, are you missing amazing moments? Because the control freak in us wants to make it perfect.
Yes.
Versus just letting our creativity come and do its thing. Because we don't know that on the other side of about a half an hour of crap, there's brilliance and creativity and play.
Wow. So you show up and you say, I don't know what to say. And I love that.
First thing I do is I tell.
The audience, I don't know what I'm going to say. So we're all on the same page. And that. I love that. And I also tell the audience, let go of your expectations.
So what do they know what to expect when they buy a ticket?
They know that. They know just from, I think, watching the videos that what we're going to do is beyond the story of what we were. And if they have an expectation and I Meet the expectation, then they don't change. If I don't meet the expectation, do something cooler, then they're going to be blindsided by a breakthrough because they realize the expectation they had was based on what they've seen so far. So there's no room for anything new. I really believe no one's ever broken your heart, but they've broken your expectations. And by breaking your expectations, they got you closer to your heart.
That's a good one.
So no one's ever broken my heart. And the only reason I'm stressed is because things are happening in the world in the way that I've decided that they shouldn't. Right. Right. So it puts me in a position of me going, okay, there's a thing happening. Do I argue with it, or do I first of all accept that it's happening? Do I love that it's happening? Then I can do it. I can react to it from not a place of fear, but possibility. Yeah, right.
So, man.
Yeah.
Why did you transfer from being a comedian to doing, you know, this type of transformational work while obviously adding your comedy flair and humor into the mix? But when did you decide, you know what this whole comedy tour thing and doing these specials and whatever. I think, like, no, no more.
I think one shift I had was.
And when was.
Was 2000, 2011, 2010 was a big one.
You were on tour, you're doing the comedy. Special thing. Comedy.
Yeah.
Show or different.
You were like, here's what happened.
Yes.
In 2010, actually. I decided to see what would happen just for fun. I had just let. I had just discovered something, which was this thing that I was saying at the beginning of you are what you love, now what loves you. I started realizing that motivation is awesome, but it's nothing compared to what we actually are. In other words, we're like helium balloons that are always trying to go up, but it's always caught on something that doesn't matter. Like what, who's in the office or what the football team did. You know what I mean, who said.
Something to you or whatever. Who hurt you or whatever.
I believe one of the biggest reasons we stress is we spend our lives trying to control what we can't. And we don't control what we can. We try to control what Donald Trump said. We try to control, you know, our past and argue with it. We can't control it. Everything you can't control, just let go of it. You don't have to deal with it. Yeah, right. You can control what you think about that. You can control what you do with that. I can't control what they think of me, but I can control if I love what they think about me or not. I can't control if I accept it. So when I realized that, I started thinking. I think that a lot more could be achieved if I just let go of the things in my life that are heavy and allow myself to see what happens on the other side of that. Like what would happen If I spent 90 days off of Facebook? Right. What kind of creation would I create? Not doing this all day. Mad that my brother is friends with.
My ex and didn't like your recent post or whatever.
Yeah, yeah. Like, meaning like that's we all. Facebook only puts you in a place of lack.
Right.
You go on Facebook and it's just, oh, there's a party last night. I didn't.
That's why you're not on Instagram, right?
Yeah, I'm on Facebook. But I do use it versus doing what I can to not let it use.
Well, that's how I found you.
Yeah.
Being one of those guys just scrolled through and no, see one of your videos.
Yeah.
I think you're sponsoring one of your posts and it was like had a 3 million views or something and I.
Was like, who is this guy?
And it was like so moving and powerful. So I think these platforms we can use for a lot of good.
Yeah.
You know, well be an interruption for people.
They. Yeah.
To see what's possible in their life, not what's lacking in their life.
Well, it's so important that you know you can feel the difference between using it with an intention and letting it totally run you. One is mindless and you get caught and then you actually find yourself stressing about something you have nothing to do with. Like you'll just see someone's post and you bring your opinion into it. Why like let it just go by, you know, it doesn't need us to get in there, you know. So I at one point wanted to know at first I want to know what would happen If I went 90 days raw vegan. Wow. Might sound crazy, but I just. It was a calling that I wanted to feel sure. So I said what would happen if I only ate raw vegan food for 90 days and to make sure I did it to get on the island and burn the boats, as Tony would say.
Yes.
I said, I'm going to make sure that I do this by if I eat one cooked thing or one non vegan thing, I'll give away $10,000.
That's big.
That was my way of sure. If I'm two weeks in and someone walks by with a free cookie, it's a ten thousand dollar cookie. So I'm leveraged to not do it.
Mm.
So the first three weeks went by and I just wanted all this food. Like, I just felt like crap, you know?
Of course. You're like, this sucks. Why'd I do this?
Yeah. About a month into it, someone walked by with a hot dog, and all I smelled was chemicals and metal. That a month ago would have tasted good.
Yes.
But my taste buds changed and I started thinking, what else does this imply? So I kept going and I started discovering, like, if I can change that. And now cooked bad food doesn't feel like a part of me anymore. I've been away from it enough that it actually feels like it's over here. Right. What else? What else is a part of me that feels a little bit heavy that I could let go of? So I said, okay, no dating for a while. And then I was like, no Facebook.
Yeah.
Oh, my God. I didn't realize when I was dating how much my time.
So much.
You're spending all day, like, planning to.
Money, energy, stress to do to do.
A thing at night.
So dumb.
Like, all day you're like cleaning the house. Like, you're planning everything. You're in strategy from 10am for this one goal. That is such a funny goal compared to what we are capable of. Right. So I was like, okay, no dating for a while. Oh, my God. I suddenly had all day.
And then I was energy and creativity and.
Yeah. And then the clarity of how heavy Facebook was, it was like a rocket that's now up. And now the weights are so obvious versus they were all the same. Now it's like, get rid of Facebook plump, you know, faster. Right? So I started feeling amazing because I was connecting to me and not the collective consciousness of the victim mentality of the world. I was suddenly someone that all day I would have inspired ideas and would be like, do this, do this. And these ideas would come through and they'd be amazing. Right. So then I felt out of nowhere at this new elevated connection. Stand up comedy is not my highest me. It's not. It's not. I did it. That was my dream, and I did it and I completed it. And at the height of my comedy career, we were doing a documentary, and I looked into the camera and I said on camera, I'm officially done doing comedy clubs on the road. And right when I said that, we have this moment on tape. And I'm not making a claim about this or saying anything magical, but three auditions showed up into my phone that minute. It was almost. It felt like I made space for it, and now there's something new because the audition showed up at a time I wouldn't have been in town.
Like, okay, like, acting auditions or something.
Yeah. So it was like creating room. It's like, how could you find the love of your life while you're with someone you don't want to be with? It's like, get out of there. Create a space where you connect to you, make you the love of your life, and then you'll find someone who made them the love of their life, and you won't be two addictions that are connecting to each other, stopping each other from feeling who you actually are. Right. So I started letting go of that. I let go of Facebook, let go these things, and I said, I'm done doing comedy clubs on the road. The next week, I was. Would have been on the road doing a comedy club at some strip mall that I didn't want to do anymore. And instead, I'm now a dude that doesn't even have to do that. There was a different alignment where I started seeing I'm Awesome. Like, I loved that, but there's even cooler here. Right? And we don't know that that's available the second we let go of the heavy thing. And right when I felt that I started, my mind was not there to come up with why things won't work anymore.
It was just possibility.
Right. So I just was like, what if I combine comedy and transform, transformation? And my. And my mind a little bit was like, well, no one's ever done that. And my soul went, no one's ever done that. The reason you think you can't is the reason you have to. I'd love to, but I have a kid. That's the reason you have to. You have to show your kid they can do it too. I'd love to, but I don't make money. Yeah, because you're not doing the thing. I'd love to do that, but I don't have time yet. I know.
You're almost out of time.
Go. Right. Like, every reason you think you can't is the reason you have to. So I said, no one's ever done that. Like, I have my own field, comedy and transformation. Right. So I was like, what would happen if I combine that? So immediately I got excited, and my friend came over and filmed me. I made 500 videos for different colleges that I had performed standup at. I aimed it at the lecture circuit. And I said, my name's. I made 500 videos that week. My name is Kyle Cease. I'm. I'm. You know, this is for Diane Johnson at North Idaho University. My name is Kyle Cease. I'm a comic that produces. Performed at your school. I'd love to do the lecture circuit. Now, that week you were doing the.
Comedy circuit, and you said you'd like to do the speaking circuit.
I want to do the speaking circuit, but I'll make it funny. That week, I could have been at a comedy club making three to five grand, right. Sitting next to a Walmart all day, waiting to go do the show, the Chuckle Hut in Michigan. Not to knock it that way. That so serves a purpose. But at this point, it was not my highest excitement anymore.
And you've done it for a decade.
Or something at this time, Right. And who would I be if I'm ignoring that there's a higher excitement in here. I couldn't make a goal from this place at that point. I had to just listen, Right? But then the goal did show up where it was. Like, what would happen If I made 500 videos for the people that booked the colleges? Now, that week, I didn't make any money because I wasn't doing a comedy club. And all my comedy friends gave me crap about it. They said, you know, you could be touring right now, but you're just making all these videos for free. And then right after that, a hundred of the video, 100 of the colleges called me to do their school at, like, almost 10 grand a pop. Wow. So immediately, like, almost a million bucks comes in.
Crazy.
And it's. I'm. And I only fly out and do one night. I say exactly what I want to say, bounce, and I fly home.
They fly you business class and. Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, it's also like, just.
Yeah. But it's also, we, like, I had no idea that was on the other side of letting go of this heavy thing. So now I'm getting booked all of a sudden everywhere.
And a thing that you were really, really good at.
Right.
This is the challenge I find people. The hardest challenge is when, man, I'm in a really, really, really good relationship. I've got a really, really, really good job. Like, I'm making unbelievable money. And it's like a good work, but it's not exactly what they want.
Right. And they're making.
That's like thinking about constantly.
And they're making their circumstances more important than their soul. They're making their money bigger than their soul. And what you don't see is that when you make your soul first, you'll make way more money. And you don't care when you make it. By the way, you don't spend all the money on addictions because what you do is so fun that in a. You're living in the moment and an addiction gets you into the moment. But when you get you are the moment, an addiction is just a contraction, right? So it just like I already happy. So all your money suddenly doesn't go to that. You actually can recirculate it into your company. You can give it to charity. You feel so much more fulfilled as you circulate. I don't like to have a big bank account. I like to do this with it because I like to prove to myself I'm the apple tree, not the apple, right? But it always pays for itself. You put out in videos. This podcast came from something I paid for sponsoring it, right? So then I started doing all these colleges combining comedy and transformation. I had a huge agency at the time that wasn't doing this stuff with me. In other words, I did the colleges and they just wanted 10% of it. But they weren't in alignment with the. They just.
They were the comedy tour people or whatever, right?
They were a huge, huge agency that were great for getting me in movies and different things, but not speaking in.
This type of thing.
Well, and they did. They did. But as they just wanted me to do the comedy again, right? And I felt this thing. But they still were taking 10% of everything. So when that I would. I would on my own, go get these gigs and then I'd see a $10,000 offer come in and I'd immediately picture I have to give them a thousand. Now my mind started justifying why I was keeping them, because it could go well. They are the ones that get me out for movies. I believe if you have to justify why you're keeping something, you have to let go of it. Because the things in my life, like my fiance, I don't justify. You'll never hear me be like, Christie's awesome. I mean, she gets great medical. Like, I don't have a reason. But if you say a reason why something's good, then it's not your highest alignment because you're ignoring your calling and your mind is trying to make sense of why you're keeping this thing. I'll. This job, this job sucks. But, you know, it does give me good medical or I do have that promotion Coming up. Your mind is talking, so you're ignoring your body, you're ignoring your heart. You're not feeling connected now. You're going against the grain. And now you're gonna be in an addiction because you're not in your heart. Right. So this agency I started, should I let go of them? They're one of the biggest agencies. And my.
Probably starts with a C or a W. It's up.
It's.
Yeah, one of those. Yeah.
And my.
My.
All my comedian friends were like, you're crazy to let go of them. And I asked my grandma, who's a very spiritual meditator, she goes, leap, you're bigger than it. Go for it. So without even understanding why, they just felt out of alignment for me, I let go of this huge agency, and I called them and I said, I have to trust my calling, that it's even bigger than my connection to you guys. And they thought it was crazy. They were like, no one drops us.
Like, we handle, like, the Tom Hanks.
Yeah. And I was like, I know, but I just have to do it. So I let go of them. And when I let go of them, felt a power that was so huge where I was like, I'm not even needing to hold on to that. Wow. A week later, I'm offered to do a gig with Jim Carrey and Eckhart Tolle called Gate. And I'm told. Which was so magical, because I'm told all the time I'm what would happen if Jim Carrey and Eckhart Tolle had a baby.
Oh, my gosh.
I, after letting go of that agency, felt so in alignment with myself that when I went into that audience and when I went on that stage, I didn't feel like I was less than then or different than or not worthy to be there or so lucky. I felt like I was one of them. And I didn't know what I was going to say, but I go on stage and I say, out of nowhere, I see Jim and Eckhart, and I go, this is so weird, because I'm told all the time what would happen if Jim Carrey and Eckhart Tolle had a baby. And I said, I don't know if you guys are thinking about that.
And I said.
I said, I know you're not thinking about that, Eckhart, because it's a thought, and I know you don't have those. And then I said, some of you guys might think that joke's offensive, but it's in the past. So Eckhart doesn't even know about it. And the crowd turned into the Apollo. I mean, it was like 2,000 people going nuts. And then check this out. Five people came up to me that were producers and offered me parts in their movies.
Oh, my gosh.
Now, the agency I had for three years, the reason I would keep them, they got me auditions, but I was so worried about losing them that I blew every audition because I was trying to get it right for them and not bringing me into it. When I let go of them, movies came to me without auditions. And whenever you want something, usually you think you need a thing on the way there that actually is often in the way of you getting it. Like, I want to feel love, so I'm gonna get a relationship that's blocking you from the love that you actually are. Right? I wanna. I wanna be an actor. So I'm gonna go get an agent. Just start acting. Make your own YouTube crap. It'll go. If it's from here, it'll go viral. It'll do your own thing. Now every time I do an event, I'm in the audience. All the gigs I used to try to get, it's full of people that book me to come speak. Combining comedy and transformation has created this niche where I get to speak to all these companies where they're getting a comedy show and they're shifting and their sales go up. So I get. We get all day offers, right? And I don't mean it egoically. I mean, magic shows up truly when you stop. If you're wanting to do something amazing, if I want to do something amazing outside of this room, but I'm holding onto this table, I can only do what I can see from the table in this room. I have to let go of it and trust that I'm safe and get in the alignment. And then I can go anywhere outside of this room, into any. So if you're in a job you hate, you are stuck in the room with that job. If you're in the relationship you hate, you're stuck. You are not in alignment, and you're declaring to yourself, I'm only doing this because I don't trust that I'm safe. And the life just goes, all right, you're not safe. I'm gonna keep throwing crap at you because you're not listening and getting in alignment with me. And so we. That's why if you ever felt it's time for me to leave this relationship and you don't, the universe kicks your ass every time, right? You. You go, I knew I should have left earlier.
Wow.
That crazy.
Crazy.
I don't know if I'm just nuts to you or you like.
No, I love it, man.
What.
How was Eckhart's reaction?
He was so awesome.
Was he laughing during this part, or was he kind of like, did he get that moment?
Was frustrated, like, oh, that was such a huge night because he was so wonderful. And then I'm backstage with Jim Carrey.
It's crazy. Jim, one of the guys I want to have on here. He's like, yeah, he's one of my top five.
He's magic. And he was so wonderful. And I sat with him for a while, and then after the last act was on, I just remember being in the hallway and just being with Jim Carrey and Eckhart Tolle and Jim kind of holding my hand and being like, you know, good luck. Let's do this. And it was like I was saying goodbye to my parents and going to college.
It was just such a.
And Imagine was playing on stage. That's rippling. Imagine by John is rippling through the hall while I'm just with the two. I mean, how specific is that those two are together?
Crazy, right?
For me, that was like, I didn't know. Like, I felt like I was. It's crazy that you couldn't combine those two.
It'd be like If Oprah and LeBron James were there for me.
Right.
And they're like, best friends, and they create an event. They're like, we just need AN Oprah ESC. LeBron James Speaker.
Exactly.
Is there any author that combines these two things that are totally opposite things?
Right, right.
You know, wow. Because they are. They feel like opposites, and people always go, I can't imagine those two. How do you combine comedy and transformation? Which is why it's so cool. Right? So.
Wow.
Yeah.
That's crazy.
But I. I guess that's the biggest thing that I could tell. Like, if you feel it's time to let go of something, remember, you're just scared of what you'll lose. Let go of it. And you won't believe what happens when you prove to yourself that you're okay without that thing. And then weird ideas show up that are kind of. Feels weird to say, but a higher frequency. They're better ideas.
What I find is the more you live and you accept your darkness, like, your strength is based on how much you accept what you call your darkness.
Right.
So I'm sitting here and I meditate. And in the meditation, light and dark.
Show up at moment the. The same Time.
And who am I if I'm looking at both? So I'm sitting here holding space for light and darkness. So I'm now the space that can carry both. Usually we're avoiding our darkness, so we just have this capacity. Just positivity, no negativity. But I'm like, what if we got this right? So you're sitting here and the more you accept your darkness, the more people aren't going to screw with you because they're scared of theirs. The people that we perceive as some of the most dangerous, manipulative, narcissistic people are actually ironically horrified of their own darkness.
Right?
So when you're shining a light and you're fine with all your truth and you're fine with everything, that scares the out of the manipulators. So you start to get divinely protected the more you open your heart. See, most people think, I'm scared I'll get hurt. So they close their hearts off. And ironically, they close their hearts off to the most loving people and the moment right now. But what they actually attract are other people with closed hearts. So a people pleaser's got their heart closed and they only attract takers.
Wow.
Right?
If you're a people pleaser, you're scared. You don't want to hurt someone's feelings. The takers see right through that.
They take everything from you constantly because.
That'S the match to what you're being.
Wow.
So if you open your heart, you're like, I'm scared I'll get hurt. Actually, you're getting hurt because you're not. Open it.
Right.
So life is trying to give us a ton of shit, but we've never seen what life's like when we're not constantly scared of our own darkness and achieving to avoid it. When you just sit there and love yourself. And I don't mean, like, confess everything to the world like we think. So that means make a million videos and tell the world. It's like, I'm talking be vulnerable every moment.
Every. Yeah.
So you're, like, doing that and now that's your addiction. Like, look, everybody, I'm validated from that.
Yeah, I've seen that story too.
I'm talking you working through your stuff, and the biggest power you have is your own forgiveness. Not for any reason other than to free you in that, you know, and then just completely forgiveness of others.
That's so key. Forgiveness is everything.
Yeah.
So many people don't forgive themselves for the longest times.
Well, guilt is a great way to stay the same the things you feel guilty about keep you actually in the same grade. It's almost like, let's say you're emotionally in third grade and then you did something that you feel bad about, so now you feel guilty. Well, guilt keeps you in third grade because it's a way to stay the small story. Forgiveness moves you to fourth grade, so you become someone who would never do the thing anymore. Right. So by staying guilty, you're actually staying in the vibration. And your own repression of yourself is going to cause you to lash out at other things and do more of the same because you've put your own prison on yourself that says you can't. And then an inside party, you go, screw you to that. You get what I'm saying?
You keep repeating the pattern. Right. Wow. So how long should we feel guilty for? Or should we never feel like we did something? We're like, okay, I reflect on that. I know that wasn't the right thing.
That's a good point. There can be the narcissistic other side. It's fine that I did that. It's fine. Right. Well, what I like. One of the things for me about meditation is it transforms the old story. It's almost like going to the bathroom every day emotionally.
It's releasing those emotional bowels.
Yeah.
Well, and the funny thing is, most people, when they meditate, they're scared of what's coming up. And that's the equivalent of going to the bathroom for the very first time after 40 years and being scared to do this because you think you're the poop.
Right?
You're like, this stuff's coming out. That's me leaving. No, no, you're the. But you're the space that it's leaving. And you don't have to force it.
You don't have to. Have to do.
In fact, it's exactly the same. All you have to do is sit and wait. And then the first day, if you didn't crap for 40 years, the first day is going to be a nightmare.
So when people meditate, that's gonna flow out.
Yeah.
They cry and cry and they release all this, and it's insane. But then eventually it's down to good hour a day.
But you need that emotional diarrhea for maybe a week. Maybe 48 hours or a week. Yeah, yeah.
Interesting. That's the thing is what I'm trying to teach people is you're the butt, not the poop.
Now, we're supposed to be talking more about money.
Are you tearing up?
No, I'm just Laughing. Yeah, I was actually funny. I've been crying a lot this year.
Hell yeah.
Like, in this relationship I'm in, I'm just like, she just does something. I'm just like, oh my God. I feel so much love because I'm allowing myself to receive it. I'm finally being like. I was in these relationships that I was choosing after my last relationship ended, and it didn't end in a good way, I really woke up. I was like, okay. I've been in so many relationships that have ended horribly, something bad has happened at almost every ending. There's maybe one relationship, it wasn't that bad, but the rest were bad in the last 15 years. So I go, okay, the common denominator, this is me. So let me reflect on who I've been, what I've done, and why I created this in my life, this pattern. I decided to look at all the relationships I've been and what they all had in common. And they had three key things in common. I'm sure they had more. But it came down to three that I was like, oh, wow, this is a big aha moment. The first one is I thought that they were extremely beautiful. Like I was attracted to them physically, sexually, I was attracted. Second thing, they had some type of gift or talent that I was inspired by. I was like, wow, this is like this amazing gift that they had.
I get that.
The third thing in my perception is they didn't believe they were beautiful and they didn't believe they were talented.
So you could coach them.
I could coach them. And I was like, look at this. You're amazing. You're beautiful. You're so gifted and talented. I want you to see this.
Did your mom have that? Not believe it.
She definitely had like she something shut.
Off where you convince her of stuff.
She was suppressed for sure because she had my older brother when she was 19 and then just had to start working and left school to be a mom full time. Then had three more kids and never got to pursue her dream or really share her voice.
Yeah, yeah. So one of the things that caused me to coach people was my mom was a very big, open hearted person. Also, though my mom had a cynicism a lot of my life about what I do. I mean, she just loved me for real, not just based on what I accomplished. But I'm like, mom, look, look how funny this joke is.
Or look how.
And she'd kind of roll her eyes. So I found myself attracted to cynical women for a while. The ones that my ego could redate. So I could overcome my mom's approval.
Wow.
So I'm actually looking for the sabotage. And what I believe your tears are for this relationship are the releasing of the story of who you used to be in relationships and even the child you used to be. Like, this is a different story. This is a person that isn't necessarily repressing themselves or someone that you need to coach.
No, I don't have to coach with anything. Like Magic.
Right.
So who would you be without the culture?
Right.
Who would you be without that? And our identity that we create is like, I coached my mom. Right. You get what I'm saying?
I know.
So what I believe the tears are. It's both, of course, a profound appreciation for this moment, but I actually believe almost all of our tears from just working with so many people and seeing this is the actual goodbye to a part of what you thought you used.
To be an old identity.
Right.
So you actually go, you know, my dad told me xyz, so I tried to achieve to get my dad's love. And then you finally meditate enough or you do enough work, and you see through that, and then you make a decision that doesn't support that old story. Now, the old story is not being seen and catered to as true, so there's no use for it. So it comes out your eyes.
Yeah, yeah.
And every time I work with someone, I go, what would happen if you didn't have that? Like, I worked with someone recently that loves to. To protest things and go to the Senate and protest things that they feel are injustice. And I said. And what I felt with her was, she's amazing. And the highest vibration of her is she's a lover. But in her entire life, she's been the fixer and the fighter.
Right.
She's protected herself from a lot of dangerous things in her life. So she created a false identity that she's the fighter. But when I meet her, she's this amazing mothering feminine energy. That's so sweet. And so she realized it would actually be a higher service to the world and even against the injustice going on for her to go to her loving state, because that is freeing her old story, which could free other stories, including the people doing the repressing. Like, we could use 10 million Mr. Rogers, more than 10 million marchers around the. You know what I'm saying?
Sure.
Like, that's what'll heal when we can cry out our stuff.
It's crazy.
You know, I was saying to you, even though there's a lot of stuff that Ben Shapiro says, that's amazing.
Facts don't care about your feelings.
Facts don't care about your feelings, which has a truth to it. And my new revelation is also. Feelings don't care about your facts.
True.
Your feelings inside want to be seen. And we are going to have a problem in the world if we don't see our feelings. Because all anger is repressed feelings. All anger. And it's under the illusion it's something over there. Every thing that you think is outside you.
Bullshit.
It's an unseen inner child. And this feeling is trying to come up. And then you try to analyze it or figure it out and bring a.
Bunch of facts in.
Well, your feelings don't care about your facts.
It's true. It's a balance, probably.
Yeah. Both are true.
Your feelings maybe don't care or don't matter to, like, certain laws at some point, but they matter to feel them. They both matter because they matter to feel them.
Right now.
Facts are based on feelings, and feelings are based on facts. Right. They both are needed equally.
That's true.
Right. We got to be able to cry stuff out.
Absolutely.
We got to be able to. We're carrying around, like, the 50s in our body.
Crazy, man.
Right.
Probably way before that.
Yeah.
So once you cry that out, how much more do you think would come to you? Because you're receptive and not moving from the small story so much.
But.
And it's been crazy, man. Like, I've. Yeah, it's been weird. Like, there's a lot of shifts that have been happening.
Yeah.
Since I let go of this story. Now, granted, I'm always a work in progress. There's still gonna be stuff. One of the things I noticed about me is, like, my close friends know this, like, anytime where I'm not meditating consistently and I'm not being source and being like, freedom and peace and love.
Yes.
And I feel someone's taking advantage of me.
React. Yes.
I go back to the child who was sexually abused or bullied or made fun of, and I'm like, I need to protect myself. I need to express my dominance, whatever it is.
You go.
And then I always regretted. My God, why was I such an idiot?
Why didn't I meditate?
Exactly. Like, why was I reactive? Like, this is nonsense. And this isn't going to matter in a week or a month or a year. But I was, like, holding on to so strongly that someone was attacking me.
Yes.
Or my ego or whatever it was.
Because one of the things meditation truly does. And I'm talking About just listening to silence. It doesn't have to be that you focus on your breath or it's just like sitting and listening. All this stuff comes up. But one of the things it does is it causes you to realize who you are is now not. The sexual abuse story, as horrific as it is, and it's honored and seen and held by you now is not you. Exactly right. It's not you. It's an old story. And as we sit here and realize that we're here, then that won't be triggered. And the more you see your triggers, the more they leave. And when they leave, no one can trigger you.
It's true.
Right.
Because they can only trigger your triggers.
And every time you're triggered, you're saying someone else has power over me. Like you said, every time we react or comment negatively or gossip, we're giving our power away to that thing.
One of the things people do that I think is really funny is when we tell people about what our triggers are to change them. Like, just so you know, when you ate that way, I was triggered. It reminds me of my dad. So if you could not eat that, that's called narcissism. Like, everyone move around my trigger crazy.
My.
I don't want to look at my shit. So I expect everyone change to not hit this. That's what narcissism is. Someone who's scared of their own repression, someone who's scared of their own abuse, right? So when you open your heart, it's a whole different story. And it's so funny because as this book is about money, it's like you can see how, how much more abundance would you have, how many different types of jobs or entrepreneurial things would you create from that space? So as much as it's a book about money, it's a book about you. But I believe that's the highest way to money. So there's gonna be people like a book about money. And then you read this. What's this Harry fairy shit. It's like you will not make money just from a bunch of strategies anymore. Just hearing manipulative tactics.
Well, you could make money, but it's not going to fulfill you, the money you're making, right? And you might, and you're going to lose it or you're going to be a prisoner to it.
But it's also now not sustainable because we can see through such bullshit now that the more you sell from manipulation, the only one type of person that can't see that is going to get it. And you're going to get a bunch of refunds because it wasn't your heart. What's going to make money is authenticity. The universe working through you, doing something that's in contribution to the world. For real.
Right.
I have a rule that everything I do has to be a win, win, win. And I'll explain that A win is abundance for me and a fulfillment from doing it. The second win is are they fulfilled, abundant and more conscious. And third, is the world better because of it? So when I look at a soda company, that's a win, lose, lose. It's a win because you make money. Lose because they're rotting their teeth and getting diabetes. And a loss because you're throwing plastic in the ocean. So that paradigm is going to fall because all three wins are inside of you. So if you're a win, lose, lose, you're 2/3 self hate because it's in you. You get what I'm saying?
Of course.
So win, win, win has to be happening.
So it's.
Does the consciousness of the world expand? It's ironic because things that have been seen as like airy fairy or snake oil or whatever are actually the most legitimate shit. Meanwhile, soda and other crap is incredible.
Companies like top 500.
Wow, you're an amazing company. Thanks for selling such a legitimate addiction to the world. Tooth rotting, crazy, horrible, vibration, vibration lowering. Are you kidding me? That's okay. You know what I'm saying? That's the cult.
My challenge is I'm like, gosh, I love pizza and ice cream so much. And like when I was like younger, I was like, it'd be so cool to have like a pizza shop and ice cream, like store. But I'm like, God, that would just be hurting people.
Right.
So I need to reinvent like what pizza looks like so it's healthy and reinvent ice cream so it's healthier.
And it's also possible the reason you like ice cream and pizza, not that it's not awesome, is because you liked it as a kid.
Absolutely. It brought me joy.
Yeah. When I was a kid, we had a place, and we still do in Washington called Taco Time. And it was like a really good like, like a amazing version of Taco Bell.
Like.
But I used to go there with my mom.
Yeah.
So made you feel a certain way.
So I don't like Taco Time as much as I like connection with my mom.
Right.
So when I stopped going to Taco Time, I like cried for some reason. I was like, why? But I'm crying my mom out. I'm crying my old story out.
Yeah, I used to. In Delaware, Ohio, there was like a. Like a ice cream stand. I can't remember what it's called, Something Depot, but it was. They had like this Smurfs ice cream. And my dad and I would always get it after like a T ball baseball game. And it always made me feel connected to him.
I get that. And then, like, I often unconsciously want to do that with my daughter too. Like, I want to do the pattern with her. Like, I learned music from my parents. Right. I'm a musician in certain ways and. And love, but I still love, like hall and Oates, Huey Lewis, like bands they liked and took me to.
Yeah.
Because I love their. I do love the music, but I also really love the connection that I perceive I'm getting. But the more you do the work, the more you see how crazy that is, the more you story, you're like, I just want to feel my dad loves me. So I'm gonna play this Huey Lewis.
Album, recreate that feeling.
But isn't that interesting? Like, when we start to. Once we become aware of that, once we hit the awareness of that, then it becomes insanity to keep doing it. Right. So once you see. Wow, this is one of the stuff things meditation brings up. I can see the pattern that's chasing that thing. So I can get a good job from my dad or doesn't want to be abandoned again by my mom, or doesn't want to be last in sports or doesn't that's be laughed at or.
Made fun of, whatever it is, rejected.
I'm scared of the trauma I felt, so I'm going to do it again. Well, imagine if the other option is we see and hold a space for the trauma. And you now could be the parent that you always wanted. You now could be the parent for the inner child that didn't feel safe in the past. That's what I do. It's like whatever it feels, it goes. I feel unseen. I sit there and go. Instead of me going, well, let's get you seen. That's the 80s response.
Let me tell a joke. Let people laugh at me.
Yeah, whatever I tell the inner child, like, imagine you're meditating. It goes, I feel unseen, I feel unloved. And you think it's because of outside, but take off the reason. I just feel unseen. I feel unloved. Then you close your eyes and you're saying to it, instead of fixing, fixing it or getting it loved, say you're allowed to be unloved in my body. I'm going to let, I'm going to be the first place that lets. It's fine if you're unloved in my body. Then you feel this five year old you for real like dance around your body because it's finally seen. Because usually when you feel unseen, you chase being seen to fix it and keep not seeing it. It wants to be seen by you.
Wow.
Not the girl, not our parents world or social media. It wants to be seen by you. So every time you chase being seen, it's feeling ignored by you. So our job is to become a space to see it. And the second you go, I feel unseen and it's okay, you can feel unseen on my body. It will move through your body, it'll go chest over arm, whatever. And the more you go, you do. You're almost loving it as it does that. It'll start breaking into pieces and it'll.
Come out your eyes in tears. He's saying not actual little child jumping out of your.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No it's not. Yeah. That's so horrifying.
You know, this is so fascinating. We're talking.
This is fun.
I love this stuff because I'm working on. I was mentioning that I've been working on a new book. It's still in the early stages. I'm writing a proposal and fleshing out the ideas and it's about eliminating self doubt because I believe that self doubt is the silent killer of all of our big dreams. And when we can eliminate the self doubt, we can do what we've been talking about this whole time, right? We can go chase the art project or start singing or whatever we want to do. We can start fully doing it without the fear of being embarrassed, broke, alone, whatever it may be.
Yeah.
And my entire life since I was probably 14 till now, every time I feel fear of something, I get sick and tired of feeling that way after a certain point, maybe it's a few years, maybe it's a few months, decades. I'm like, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired of this feeling.
Of.
People judging me or people criticizing about this. And so I go all in on the fear.
Okay.
For instance, when I was a teenager, I was afraid to talk to girls. And so I created a challenge for myself in the summer when I was 16 that every time I felt butterflies when I saw a girl, I was going to go up to them and just have a conversation. It was terrifying the first week, but I was like, I'm sick and tired of feeling rejected all the Time and feeling like girls are making fun of me and laughing at me all the time or just not having the confidence to go up and talk to someone. And so I did this. And by the end of the summer, I was just like, so free to talk to anyone because it didn't matter if they rejected me or not. And I had so many good instances of just great conversations with people that I felt bulletproof. I felt invincible. By the end of the summer, I did that with salsa dancing, with, like, singing on stage when I was terrified to sing, public speaking. I did that for a full year of just feeling rejected over and over again, those feelings in my body until they went away. And I continue to do that in business and relationships. And it makes me feel free of the fears of insecurity, of judgment that people have on me.
You know, partly why is because you've now created an excitement to the fear. So you want it there. So it can't be be there.
Yeah.
The only thing that causes fear is not wanting it there. The only thing that causes fear is you not wanting it to be there. If you love fear, it can't last.
Bring it on.
Because fear is your resistance to yourself.
That's big.
So it's only the factor. So it's not that you're in fear. It's that we are trying to get rid of it. It's that we're trying to change it. It's that we think it shouldn't be there, but life is so cool that it's trying to get you to learn to love more unconditionally, to even create a capacity to even love that fear which you have.
Why do we resist fear so much in general?
Because we believe we're the old story. And the fear that's showing up is perceivably bigger than the old story, but it's not bigger than what you are. So to the old story, this is bigger. So I actually have a belief, even this is my conclusion. But it's based on what I've seen with trauma, with working with a lot of people, people when what I believe more and more. My definition. There's no science behind this. There's no whatever. But this is what I'm experiencing is that trauma seems to me like something happens that's bigger than you can handle.
Right?
So when you're. Let's say you're in first grade, let's say you're literally in first grade, something happens. And it's almost like that thing is a 12th grade thing, but you're a first grader. Now, when you're actually, actually in first grade, you understand there's calculus, but you don't get what it is.
You don't start taking a class, right?
So in the same way the body goes, I know that's there, but I.
Don'T get what it is.
So I'm going to store it somewhere, okay? And we'll learn it when we're in 12th grade, when we're ready. And we'll learn it also emotionally in 12th grade. So you're in first grade and you got this wound. You're in second grade, third grade. It's not bringing it up. Fourth grade, fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade, seventh grade, eighth grade. You start learning more lessons from life. You're changing. You're going through different emotions, different relationships, different careers, whatever. You finally get to 11th grade, and it's like, oh, you're ready for this now. Your capacity is open, and I'm going to show you this thing. And now that your capacity is so big, we're going to release it. And when you see the trauma show up in meditations and stuff like that, it's only because it's leaving. See, people see something show up in their meditation, and they go, what do I do with this? Well, it's coming up because it's leaving. You don't have to do anything with it. So it's almost like when a dentist is pulling out your old cavity. You're gonna see it because it's leaving your mouth. But imagine if when you saw it and it's leaving, you went, what does this mean? What do I do with this?
You're afraid to let it go. You put it back in, right?
So now you're analyzing it and trying to figure it out. Keeps it there. So what if you just let it be there? It shows up. There's your grandpa yelling at you. There's some old story, trauma, whatever, and you just don't do anything. This is what my meditations are. It'll just be like, boom, there's some trauma. There's a thing. Why is it showing up? Because I've accessed a capacity with this moment that's big enough to be able to see it and be able to handle it, and it won't be overwhelming for me. And what fear is trying to do is get you to a bigger capacity of oneness. Fear is trying to take you to more of here. Because fear is only death to your story, right? If someone threatens you, and that means you might lose your job, you think who you are is that job. That's why it's scary.
Right?
Oh, the person in my relationship might leave me. I feel fear because I'm under the illusion that who I am is a story. And this person feels just like my mom. So I'm under the illusion that I'm going to lose love from my mom during this breakup. But when you actually get your this moment, the less fear you have, because. And you study this moment, you really not only transcend the fear, but your capacity is so big that you can receive bigger, you can move bigger, you can do the same. Party that can transcend the fear can now accept bigger ideas and do bigger things. Because you're not the small story. You're infinite. You and I are equally infinite. Everyone in here, you're infinite. The people watching you are. I don't care what the story is. And when you come up with. Yeah, but that's your marriage to the old story.
Right.
So how do we overcome our fears? Do we feel crippled by our fear?
By loving it. First of all, Wanting it to be there. And it's going to transcend in a way that your ego's not used to doing. So the fear comes up. Do you have one right now? We could do it if you want.
I'm trying to think. I feel like I've been addressing a lot of my fears in the last seven months. One, getting out of an old relationship, feeling, like, under attack from opinions of others.
Yes.
Like the breakup and what happened. And is this true? Is that true? The gossip of the breakup and being like, man, you know, everyone's got an opinion.
Look at everyone giving you their power.
Everyone, right? Oh, they were.
Yeah.
And they're spending so much time and energy thinking and obsessing about something that's not theirs.
You weren't supposed to do what they expected of you. You're supposed to be within the boundaries of people who have no idea who you are. You're not supposed to follow your calling. You're supposed to follow what they say.
Exactly.
Isn't that nuts? Crazy, Right?
Crazy.
But when it triggers you.
So it triggered me for a little bit because it was just an avalanche of people. Right. Like, whoa, this is. Okay, there's a lot coming up for me.
So if someone were to write something now, you find something, some expose or whatever in this world of exposes, what would you feel right now?
I feel sad.
Okay.
I feel sad that people put that much attention on something that's so far in the past.
But what about your unseen party?
Yeah.
Because if there's a trigger that's yeah.
If I'm being honest with myself, I'd probably be like, God, these people have no clue who I am.
Yes.
For a moment.
So you feel they don't know the truth?
They don't know.
Yeah, I feel like they don't care. They're just assuming something and they're holding onto that story.
So one of the first things that's trying to happen is life is so cool that it's trying to get you to find and be a space for all the unseen parts of you so you can do even more and be even bigger. Because none of what they said actually affects you. It affects whatever lingering old story in your childhood that you're holding on to.
Right.
So if I just said. If I just said, okay, some huge article came out, you had some giant whatever, scandal because you broke up, whatever, what would you feel? Just the. What would be the words? Unseen, unloved.
I always feel like.
I feel.
Let me see. So there's an article made up or just like someone's opinion about whatever. Is that what you're saying?
Sure.
Yeah. Like what? I feel under attack. What was the last trigger?
I feel like under attack.
Under attack.
Abused.
Abused.
I'd be like, this person's abusing me. They don't really know what happened.
Isn't that interesting? It's such a different word. Like, I would feel unseen. Yeah, you'd feel abused.
I feel abused.
Wow.
Like someone's trying to take a. Take advantage of me.
So if we take off the.
I feel used as well. I feel like, man, this person's using me to get attention. My ex was using me for five years in the relationship and she's still using me to gain, like, significance and attention or build her business or whatever, you know?
Right.
So used and abused.
So if we just take off the reasons now. Right. And just are stuck with abused.
Right.
That you just feel in your body abused. Can you first of all try this? Take a deep breath because that reminds you you're here to be a space for abused.
Okay.
Feel abused.
It's not like I want you to feel abused, but it's more like, okay, so we said the word abused. Now if you take the reason off like someone wrote it, now you're alone with abused, with the feeling of abused. And that usually shows up like a lump sensation. Or do you feel anything in your body that just like it's right here in your chest? Excellent. So I want you to be a space for it. There's a part of you.
What do you mean?
Be a Space.
So you right here are holding space like you're a bed for a five year old version of you that feels abused. Do you get what I'm saying? So take a deep breath.
Yeah.
So it's almost like you're letting it be there. I don't want you to do anything to try to get rid of it.
Hold it there.
Yeah, it's not hold it. But don't try to do anything with it.
Like.
Like imagine it's your five year old son inside of me inside of you. Just needing to be seen and not fixed and not changed. You get what I'm saying? You're the space for this. So we're not trying to get rid of it. We invite it here. It's totally allowed here. Dude, you're so heroic to do this work right now. So this, this boy that feels abused is here and you're like the dad that's a space and says your strength is just being okay with it being there, not needing it to go anywhere, not trying to do this to get rid of it. You actually are creating a higher capacity that's both the space, the body, that's all three. The space, the body and the five year old. So first of all you're loving the abused boy, not trying to fix it.
You feel that?
What's the sensation feel like now?
I feel like heat.
Heat.
Like my heart is beating stronger. I feel like heat right here. Yeah.
So take a deep breath again because that centers you to hear and this is deep. I'm offering everyone watching to do this with themselves. Because you just go, I feel unseen. Whether it's by your spouse or whatever. Unseen, unloved. Now you'll notice the more you want it there, it might move around. Do you get what I'm saying? If you want the heat there, you'll notice that what usually you do, our habit is to kind of fix the heat, Overcome the heat, Right?
Disperse the heat.
Yeah, yeah. But instead you are even stronger than the heat. So you're the space for the heat. So what do you feel now?
I feel like it relaxed me a little bit.
Relaxed? Did it go into your stomach too?
It just feels like less.
It feels like less?
Yeah, it feels less.
Excellent.
Weirdly, as you accept it, it starts to kind of go away because you're creating a deeper capacity by connecting to the moment to be there for it. So I'll keep checking in. What do you feel now? Because it kind of does different things. It kind of moves into your stomach.
Feel like it's going down a little Bit.
Yeah. The reason I said that was I'm connecting with you heart to heart. And I felt it go into my stomach. That's why I asked is like I felt my stomach feel it. Because when we're undone from our stories, we can actually feel each other heart to heart. So I'm holding space and capacity for the abused boy too. And we're just collectively like two men.
Regular holding a little inner child inside of us.
Yeah. So you're creating the space because the articles or whatever was written was not you feeling unseen by them, it's you feeling unseen by you. And now you're seeing you and this vulnerability right now. And imagine you've never ever got to see what you're able to create and what you're able to do for the world after this child scene. Because once this is fully seen and a part of you and accepted, what you're going to do will be the first time you did it without the resistance to a part of yourself. You've never seen what that's like. You've never seen you without this there. So it's almost like a lingering thing that was just kind of dangling in the side. It's like, okay, that's what triggers are for, to show us where we don't love ourselves.
Right.
God, it's so true.
Right.
So every time I work with someone, I get their trigger. I'm like, let's go there. Let's take off the reason. Because some things don't trigger us. How could someone else do something? Like if someone said you're a purple monster, that wouldn't trigger you. You're just like, they're nuts. Right. So some things, if they trigger you, that's not a sign about them. That's a sign that you didn't love something about yourself. Right. So now who are you? So what do you feel right now? And the deep breaths kind of remind you you're here so you don't get caught in the story. You're just the dad for this five year old child.
Yeah. It just keeps kind of like going down and lessening.
Lessening. Yeah. And do you feel a teeny bit more here or stronger or like less triggered or.
Yeah, I do. I feel more peace.
Yeah.
Because it needed to be seen.
Yeah.
This is shit that we can do in five minutes that we carry around with us our whole lives.
Yeah. Right.
So now you're sitting here feeling relaxed and you're okay with a part of you that feels abused again that you had not ever felt that level.
Right.
So it's not trying to disregard the feeling. It's first accepting it, creating being this. Being the space for the feeling. Holding the feeling. Yeah, I guess. Gently holding it. Don't clench it, but hold it gently and allow it to move where it's gonna move and then move on. Is that the next.
Check this out. The victim tries to run from the feeling. Maybe addicts to it.
Right.
It's getting connected. Like I'm gonna have an addiction to.
Block me from smoking, drinking, whatever.
The achiever overcomes the feeling while it's still unseen.
Right.
And it's. It's always there. You're just never looking at it.
Yes.
You go and create and achieve and make money and accomplishments. That was my life.
Yes. It comes up and you go, that's my driver.
Yeah, it was.
Right.
So that's nice. That's a better one than victim.
Yeah.
But it's still an unseen kid. Now imagine if that kid was a neighbor's kid coming up to you and saying, I feel abused. Would you go, well, we better achieve. Would you? Well, we're gonna overcome this. Let's. Let's write a new. Let's create a new book. Let's. Whatever. You'd go, come here, let me give you a hug.
Yeah, you.
I'm. I hear that you feel abused. Let me hug you. Let me. Let me hear you. That's what it needs. Not we. Let's accomplish a new right. Like, let's just be with it. And then what happens? Like, once that's now accepted in a part of you, as you said, it goes away. It goes away. Sometimes it'll go away through crying, Sometimes it goes away through diarrhea. It goes away through. Because when you release that throwing up, whatever. Yeah, yeah. A little less fight or flight of your body, so the colon's not holding as tight. Constantly at war, not wanting to be abused again in 2019, again when you were. When you were five, like craziness. This is the one thing that if we started doing this, there would be so much change in the world. There would be like. There'd be so much shifting because all lashing out, all civil war, all anger, all Democrat versus Republican, all side gun violence is all bomb abused, not seen. And then you become intellectual and then you become strategy.
Yeah.
And there's no source in you, no vulnerability.
It's one of the reasons why after doing this work on myself six years ago and constantly doing the work.
I.
Realized, like, I had so much more freedom than ever before. I couldn't sleep. Took me about an Hour, at least minimum to go to bed until I hit 30 years old.
Wow.
Almost like all through my childhood, teens, 20s, like, I would just be up thinking and like, yeah. Anxious, stress, like, you know, am I enough? Whatever it is, yeah. Strategy, strategy, strategy.
Well, and sleep's a great example of something that you can't achieve. Like, in fact, achievement gets in the way. I'm going to sleep tonight. It's never going to work. So how do you finally get sleep? Not need sleep. Not need it to happen, not force it. Surrendering, right? So what if sleep is telling you, this is how the world works? Don't achieve your way through. Be in surrender and watch how life gives you what you want. Because the more people try to achieve sleep, the more they don't sleep.
That's right.
And the more you're in surrender and actually focus. Everyone at our meditate, we do these meditation retreats. Everyone at our meditation retreat, we have, like, amazing sleep because you have four or five hours. You know, we do all this content meditate. We find all these inner kids and cry them out. We're listening to silence. No phones. I mean, they put their phones in an envelope. They have the phone, but they don't open. Then they just go out. You have no Internet. You just go to sleep. And everyone is happier and happier. By day four or five, everyone's switching careers.
Everyone's getting married or getting divorced. They're like, I'm either all in or I'm out.
Or you know what I see a lot of is people that at first they get to, like, day two and realize that relationship doesn't align. They keep going day three, day four, and then the relationship suddenly changes to them. Like, there's a lot of people that they get today, two, you know, my husband's not for me, whatever. But then they get more to an acceptance. And then they get to day six, turn on their phones. And I'm not kidding, their husband wrote them, like, hey, I threw out our tv. I'm ready to change my life. And like, it's almost like a magical match to. We've never seen life without this unseen child completely stuck in us. We have no idea what life is. We've all been in this giant, don't beat me again, dad life.
Don't judge me again. Don't scold me again.
We're missing out on life.
What's really been cool about this is the revelation and this is what I was going through that I told you about. I think the revelation that I don't need anything outside to do this. And I went through a stage recently where I think I've been really enjoying kind of secluding myself and connecting to that thing. And now, because I have that connection, I really can start bringing those things in. Like, I'm. I'm honored to be with you and.
And you're here.
Yeah. And my friend Glenn Morshauer is an amazing speaker, and Michael Beckwith and James Mallon and all these people are dear friends of mine. And I'm just so. This sounds so corny, but I'm just so lucky and so thankful and so excited to show people that they all have it, you know, like, it's. This isn't a magic thing that I have. It's available in every person. So when you come to our events, people shift right away because they start letting go of their old story or their belief about it and falling in love with their fears and. And playing more. And in that play, they come up with a faster, more effective idea that. That takes less effort, you know, because they're connecting here. And this thing can do more than here.
Yeah. What do you think has been holding you back from the next level in your life?
Whatever that is for you?
Well, this sounds really. This. This is weird. But I think one thing that actually helps me is challenges. Every time I have a challenge, I learn something about myself and I expand to a level that's even bigger. Like, if someone's talking crap about me, one thing that triggers me a lot is being accused of something that I didn't do. Like when people. When you do this, people say, you know, you do this event and you charge money for it, so you must be. You must be a Scientologist or you.
Must be scam artist.
I almost feel like everything that's for sale that doesn't help you connect to you is much more of a scam. Like, Pepsi helps you have addictions, rots your teeth, and then they put plastic in the ocean.
Right.
Why am I the problem? You know what I mean? Like. Like there's so many things that condition you to not know that you're enough. How about everything on TV makes you feel like you're not enough? How about the fact that the news only shows us crap all day? I always think to myself, do you know how not scared of flying we would be if they showed us the 30,000 flights a day that made it right? Like with the. I think every time a plane lands, they should interrupt whatever crappy show you're watching and interview every person.
How do you feel?
They feel like I had a great flight.
I was passed out. It was great.
Yeah. You'd be like, I want to try flying. And they're like, coming up, a family that wasn't murdered. Even murderers would be like, well, if no one else is killing people, why would I? I should start some company and fix the economy, right? But they. They scare you all day, and then they run Prozac commercials.
It's crazy.
How is that not a cult?
You know, it's funny.
Yeah, it's true, right? Funny.
My dad, growing up, my dad would never allow us to watch any commercials with medicine in the commercials, right? Any type of, like, drug or smoking or drinking or anything. He would turn. Turn it off.
Right.
He didn't want us to be conditioned to watching.
That's awesome.
Thinking, like, it's okay.
Yeah.
So we would all, you know, it was kind of annoying. Like, he always changed the channel, but it was like, it got me conditioned. Like, I don't watch it now. I turn off whenever I see a commercial. I don't really watch tv. I watch more like Netflix.
But you mean, like the pills that list the side effects?
It's so hilarious, man.
And it's just.
It's like every commercial feels like a new pill that's like. Like now in this beautiful stylistic, like, yeah, Journey we're on, like, living this.
Beautiful life of, like, they're showing these people rock climbing and sailboarding, and you're going, man, I wish I had herpes.
Have gonorrhea and this and that. Yeah. Like, and I'm just. I just turn it off because I'm.
So conditioned to one.
The more we believe that, like, we need these things, the more we're going to have to have them.
Right?
And there's just so many things, like you said that we can let go of these thoughts, these feelings, these addictions, and free our mind and body of.
Needing things like this.
So totally.
I mean, yeah.
Yeah, we are.
You know that those commercials are hilarious.
And then they actually show you in the commercial, like, that may cause death and anal bleeding. And you're like, yeah, but my sinuses will be clear. So it's crazy. Crazy. I'll trade in death and anal bleeding. It's a brand new day. Herpes. I'm like, that's not a brand new day at all. It's every six months. I heard. Because I have a friend that's not me. You know, if it's for herpes, they should use ushers. Let it burn.
Oh, my God.
I'd understand it. Yeah, but those commercials are crazy. And the news does it. Then they, at the end, they act like they were a friend the entire time because they tell you the story of a cat that got stuck in a well.
Oh, my gosh.
Every news story ends with a cat that. I think the news is putting cats in wells so they can scare you for 58 minutes and be like, talk about nine lives. And then they go to the scene and there's some woman stroking a greasy cat. We thought he was a goner.
And it turns out he was.
And then they come back and they're like. And the cat's name was Lucky. Sure was Bill. And then they're stacking. They're stacking papers, but they have a teleprompter. So they also, like, have a side job with Kinko's now at the end of the news. And I know that's. That, to me, is the craziest world that literally at 5 or 6 o', clock, half of our country just hears all the things that are going wrong in a world where there's a lot of things going right. And then they get scared. They feel like crap. They think they're not enough. And then the only way to get you to sell, to get you to buy something that makes you think you're enough, is to make you believe first you're not enough. So if you're not enough, it just takes Budweiser just a little, and bikini women will surround you in a bar.
Just do that.
And then bikini. You need that because you're not enough is the belief. And if you get that you're already love, that you can't get love from outside of you. The only thing someone outside you can do is trigger in you permission to give yourself the love that you want. That nothing outside of you. We are like breathing oxygen, thinking, how do I get that person's oxygen? Or how do I get the oxygen over at that new job? Versus getting that you're breathing and you have the oxygen or the love already and create from there. And holy crap, will every goal you've ever had come chase you? Everything so much bigger.
So true, man. There's so much. You create magic when you come from that space. And I feel like I feel similar to you where I feel very lucky and very blessed for all the opportunities that come my way. But I also know that, like, I am coming from a place of joy and, like, smiling all day long. And it's like when someone's smiling all day long and, like, giving big hugs and just like, being a great listener and being curious and being interested in other people. You're going to be interesting to those people. When you're just like, I'm so interested in you, that person's going to leave 20 minutes later from the conversation. Like, that was the most interesting human alive.
Yeah.
And I didn't have to say anything, but I just connected to their eyes and listened and smiled.
And there's two types of people that do that. There's the real listeners like you.
Yes.
And then there's the people in the spiritual communities that changed their name to Rainbow Maka Sunshine and want to be the long starer.
Oh, my gosh.
You know?
Yes.
Like, no matter what you say, they.
Act like they heard you.
And it was so profound. But you realize they aren't hearing me at all. They just want to see how good they are at hearing me.
Yes.
You'll be like, I have to go pee. And they're like, thank you.
That's like a J.P. sears.
Yeah. Right. Yeah. No, we. We both had that in common. So we talked about that.
It's so true.
You don't know.
You've got to be genuine about it. Absolutely mean.
Well, you're not. We were talking. JP came on.
So connected and disconnected.
Yeah. Right.
You're like so connected.
You're. We were talking about this. People that are closed but appear open because there's a. And I don't mean to be knocking it, but there's almost a denial that doesn't even let you be with them where they really are. There's. That's. That spiritual bypass thing that is so important not to do. You have to be real with everything you feel. It's one thing to say you're infinite, and you and I believe that, but it's still so important to be with every feeling. It's gonna pass, but you have to be with it until you grow enough to transcend it.
Yeah.
But there's some people that they won't feel it. And they just. Everything's fine. Everything's fine. And they're not doing anything. And they say the universe will provide. But it's saying, take action to provide.
Do something, do this, feel this, deal.
With this trauma, whatever. Allow love yourself. You can't. I'm not giving you anything until you actually access you.
What did you learn from comedy that's allowed you to really break through people and. Or be an interruption for people in a positive way?
Yeah.
Because most. We were talking before most these kind of transformational work is very deep and dark and heavy and like serious and like, yeah, there's no space to be playing creative except for, like, small little moments when they're like, okay, now's the time to, like, access your inner child and, like, be playful.
Comedy gets you into the moment, which is great. You're never laughing and thinking about your taxes next week. You know, when you. When you see something funny, you usually look at your friend and connect with them in the moment. You're like, he said that. And you're in this moment right now. And it makes it very easy for transformational truth to be both heard and accessed in you because you're in such a good mood, you're in a playful state. And I. I don't even realize I'm not here to be comedic or transformational. I'm here to say the truth. And sometimes it comes out one of those. It's funny. How many people get obsessed with labels. Like, people go, so what are you now? Aren't you were a comic and now you're here. Like, I can't manage and control you. Like, this moment, I'm change. And sometimes it comes through however it needs to, but making it. And sometimes it just comes through because it's actually funny. I don't even try to. I was gonna say making it funny, but life is funny. Life is hilarious. And when you talk from a real place, often when we go to the transformational side, we're in denial of what's funny. You know, you go there and everyone's like, everything's perfect, you know? And so it's a weird.
It was a weird home for me.
For a while because in one stage, I'm making fun of everything. And then you go to the world where everything's perfect. So you're in this weird place where you're like, don't you hate it when.
Someone cuts you off?
But they're supposed to, because they did, and you have no. No voice. So I started realizing our ego is hilarious, the things we do. Like, I had an old bit that works both in the comedy world and in the real and the transformational. The real world, it works everywhere, but it's. I talk about. Have you ever had it when you're walking in one direction and you realize you're going the total wrong way, so you have to turn around, but you can't just turn around because you know other people are watching you. You have to do other stuff too. You have to be like, oh, yeah. And then turn around because you look weird. If you're just like, I screwed up, and then wrong way. And I Love it. You have to like, do a thing. And that's just funny, no matter where you're looking. We do that because of ego, caring what people think about us. But I think that for me, I noticed that my voice was necessary and needed, at least to me. When I would go to some six day awareness transformation event and they'll be like, we're gonna all feel good. I want to thank you all and bless you for being here. We're gonna all be with ourselves. And then I would go, I'd do a joke and everyone would laugh and we'd all be in the moment and the teacher be like, please, we're trying to be happy. Does everyone have their weird necklaces? I think one thing that's so fascinating is how much we love to make everything outside of us bigger than ourselves. And even when we get into the spiritual side, they do it to other things that are more invisible things, but they're still victims to those things. Meaning, like when you're unconscious, you're having a bad day because someone cut you off. Now it's Mercury retrograde.
Right?
Right.
Don't sign any documents right now.
Right. But I don't believe in that, so it doesn't affect me. I believe that we're the space that all of this crap is in. And we love to make things outside of us bigger than ourselves. You know, people love to make a problem bigger than themselves. And I still do it all the time. Right. We make a problem bigger than. So fear, for instance. Fear is when you have a thought and then you freak out about the thought you created. That's like drawing a picture of a monster and putting it on the wall and then scaring yourself every night by your own drawing. Right?
Right.
Or an idea. Right. People.
People do it. The crystal.
I don't have my crystal. I'm nothing. Or the sign. People think everything's a sign. Right. I had a lady come up to me and go, I want to divorce my husband, but I'm looking for a sign. So the fact you want to divorce him is the sign. Don't wait till you drive by. Divorce your husband. And even when you do, you won't make that the sign. Because we pick and choose our signs sometimes to justify why we aren't leaping. I called someone once and I said, hey, are you coming to my event? She goes, well, my. I was going to, but my computer crashed and I can't tell if that's a sign I shouldn't. And I said, why is me calling you not a sign?
You should Right.
You know, you're picking. And she said, do you want to go? And she said, yeah. And I said, that's your sign. What you want to do and what.
You feel is also a sign.
An idea. We get excited about an idea, but remember, the idea came from you. Get excited about you because you can print this crap all day. When people go, you guys, I'm gonna do this. And you get excited about this. That's like an apple tree going, look what I made. And now it's not making more apples because it's flipping out about the one apple. But you're this. You're all of them. Sure. And we got to get excited about us because we're the space that all of this crap is coming from, the good and the bad. And that's where when you start focusing on the you, you start not making things outside you, bigger than you. So you're not unworthy of having it or experiencing it. It comes right into your life. Right. So that's what I got to do. So, yeah.
Amazing. Amazing. Dude, few questions left for you.
I don't want this to end.
I know.
It's having fun.
Maybe we'll keep it rolling. We'll see. What's a question you wish more people would ask you that they don't ask?
I wish when I work with clients or people, I think a question no one asks. It's not a question necessarily they ask for me, but a question I wish people would ask themselves. Most people ask, why do I always have this problem? Or, how do I fix this? I can't believe no one says, how good can this get? Like, just not necessarily a question for me, but just like, why aren't we all going, how amazing could this get? How free could I be? How much creativity could I have? How much bliss and playfulness and effortlessness could I be in while simultaneously creating unbelievable things? No one asked that. They go, why do I always do this? Why do I always pick the wrong person? Because you asked that stupid question. Yeah, that question is totally going to give you more stupid. The wrong people. You're actually looking for why you have a problem. So to align with you, you only select people that have the same problem. You actually look, you are scared to death of someone who actually would love you because you don't love yourself at that level. I, at one point, did a hundred days of meditating. I actually sat up and for two hours a day, sat and just listened to my chaotic thoughts. And people would say to me, I can't believe you have enough time to do that. And I would say, I can't believe you have enough time to not. Because there'd be so many things I think I have to do that day. And then I would sit and I'd hear all these thoughts and realize I was going to do that to, like, people, please. Or fix a problem that didn't actually exist. So when I'm done meditating, I totally don't have to do that stuff. And then I only do what aligns with me and what I want to do.
Amazing.
Right? And so I noticed that in loving myself on that level, I was able to receive amazing abundance and love on the same level. Because if you don't love yourself and someone actually comes and loves you, it will horrify you and you will sabotage it.
Absolutely.
I've been in a relationship like that.
Yeah. Yeah. Right.
I mean, where I.
Where you sabotage it because they loved.
You so much, they sabotaged it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Not that I was like, I love you and I can't live without you.
Like, right? Weirdness, like, right. Yeah. I don't mean that.
I gave the girl exactly what she was asking for.
Yeah.
She was like, I want. You know, this is what I want for our relationship. This is what I want to create. And I was like.
I was a little scared, but I.
Was like, you know what? Screw it. Let me, like, go all in and.
Give it a shot.
Right.
How it goes. And then I did that. And then. Right. Then she, like, freaked out and broke up with me.
Right.
And then she was like, I'm sorry. And then, like, got back together. It was like a roller coaster.
Like, so you got to change your. What you want to. I'm willing to receive because that abundance is coming at us all day.
Exactly.
If you think who you are is your past story, like, you think who you are as someone who makes 30,000 a year and someone offers you a million dollars. That's death to your old story. So you're going to sabotage it and go back to your limitation because you.
Got all the love for Stan.
30,000. This is why a lot of winners go broke. It's just instant money and the death to my entire old false identity. But I actually think I'm that. So I can't be broke with my friends and talk about being broke. I can't stay the way my parents told me. Life isn't that easy, you know? So immediately I'm gonna sabotage it.
So this is why, if we think who we are is our past story.
We'Re not available for really amazing things, because it's horrifying.
So how do we open ourselves up to create abundance, true abundance and unbelievable magic in our lives?
I'll show you a couple exercises I do. One is for sure to love all the things that aren't working. So when people that we were saying one is just like, go through it. I'm confused. And I love that. Confusion, by the way, means you're making room for new ideas. Right. If you're not confused, you're like that person that's trying to find the place, but you're not admitting you're lost. So you're in denial. You know, you're just driving circles around the city and it takes finally you going, okay, I don't know. To ask someone. I think being lost is much more advanced than knowing how it's all going to go. So the second you go, I'm lost, you ask someone, you make space for new innovation. Right. So one thing is to fall in love with every part of you. I don't believe we're here just to feel good. We're here to feel. We're here to feel fully. We're here to feel. I'm scared. And I love that I'm confused and I love that I'm lost and I love that I don't know what I'm going to do. And I love that you notice, right, when you say that you were judging, that you don't know what to do. People always think, when I have clarity, I'll be free. And I'm like, no, when you're free, you'll have clarity. When you love yourself, you'll have tons of clarity. When you connect to that, you'll. You'll get guidance that'll give you step by step on what to do.
Yeah.
So that's one thing.
And here, say the thing that you're frustrated with and then repeat. I love that afterwards. And I love that.
Right?
And actually getting people go, what? What if I don't love that? Love that. You don't love that.
There you go, right?
Love that. It's not that it's still there because you're trying to say it, to get rid of it versus actually understanding that pain has been a pocket inside of you that could now be replaced with love. Because once it's loved, it will leave.
So my girlfriend dumped me and I don't love it, but I love that.
I love that I don't love it. I love that. Now it's kind of. Do you feel how that becomes like a floating story here versus this thing you're stuck in. Yeah. Everyone says, I hear people all the time say, I got to let go of that. Every time you say, I gotta let go of that. Well, you already picked it up. Yeah. If I said, I have to let go of that bottled water now, it's all we're thinking of.
Yeah.
Right. But now I have to let go of this.
They go, I got to let go.
Of that old relation. You just picked it up again.
Yeah, let it go.
Right.
What's the story of the. The two monks, like, in the. Oh, yeah, like, the woman who, like, asks one of the monks to, like, what?
How's it going? You know, I can't remember it.
There's like, there's like a woman in a car and it's like raining out or something, and there's a puddle of water.
Yes.
And one of the monks, she's two.
Months walking down the street, and one.
Of the monks, like, sees the woman struggling and, like, picks the lady up, puts her on her back and, like, walks across this puddle and then drops her down. But then the lady was, like, arguing and frustrated and mad at the monk for something. So then the two monks go on, like, you know, they keep going, and like an hour later, they're walking and one of them, the other monk was like, I can't believe that woman was so rude to you. You were so nice to her. You carried her on your back, you took her across this thing, you got to the other side, and then she was still upset and mad at you.
I can't believe it.
And he goes, why are you still carrying her? I let her go an hour ago. Yeah, right.
It's amazing.
I pretty much butchered that story. But, you know, you get the idea.
You know what? And by the way, on a side note, I love to.
It's so funny when you actually end.
Up butchering those old things because, like, there's a famous story that I try to tell and I forget it how it goes every time. I'll try to do it now.
Sure.
There's a. So there is a guy, I think.
He'S a farmer or a carpenter or something, and he has a son. And everyone goes, oh, your farm is so lucky because you had a son. And he goes, maybe. And then the son grows up and gets in a car accident and they go, oh, this farm's. This farm's unlucky because you. Your son got in a car. In a car accident. Accident. And he goes, maybe. And then he goes to the hospital and he meets this woman that's the nurse and she's hot to him. And they start doing it and they have a baby.
Yeah.
And everyone goes, oh, this farm's lucky. And the accident was lucky because the baby and the farmer's like, maybe. And then he and the woman and the baby are walking out of the hospital. They were in there the whole time and they were walking out of the hospital and the guy fell down a pit. And while he's on the way down, they say the farmer like, oh, this guy. It's not lucky. This farm's not lucky because the guy fell in the pit. But he lands in the bottom of the pit on a billion. Forged a couple billion dollars. He's down there and they go, oh, my God, this farm is so lucky because it got him to get in the accident and. And fall in love and. But without the pit was a problem. But then he made the money.
Then he just was bleeding or.
Yeah, he landed on the bleeding on the money. So he gets out of the pit with his new billions of dollars that he kept. Didn't claim it. Yeah. And he's walking with the woman and then he falls down and they said, oh, it's bad luck again. But he hit his head on the rock and solid gold blood comes out. Amazing seeping blood that he didn't know he had in him. He'd not gotten cut until that minute. He didn't know it was full like rumpled stiltskin gold. And they said, oh, it's.
It's a good luck.
So the guy gets home and farts and they go, it's bad luck. They're really involved with his life. And then. But he farts more money. I don't. I don't remember the ending, but they said it's good.
It's good.
He did. Who knew that he would fart all that money? And it's. Eckhart totally told it to me. It's something like that.
I don't remember it.
I might be off on a couple details, but the point is, don't make a meaning on something because you don't.
Know the whole story.
Wow. There you go.
Because you never know if you get in a car accident if eventually you're going to fart silver.
That's true.
Remember the song from preschool when you were a kid?
They teach you if you get in.
A car accident, don't worry, you might fart silver.
Oh, yes.
You remember that?
Yes, I do remember that one.
It was a song they used to sing after finger pain.
It's so true, though. I mean, that's a great story.
Thanks for sharing. Thank you.
I remember it.
It's based on a tradition, word by word.
I remember exactly that way. It was told to me before.
Yeah, it's. Yeah.
But I mean, there's so many things.
In my life where I can relate.
To that story where I thought it.
Was, like, a bad moment, but actually, like, getting injured playing football, professional football was my dream, and I broke my wrist, and I have, like, a big scar here.
And what came out, just standard blood.
Silver.
Yeah.
You said standard.
Yeah.
Silver. Yeah.
Yeah.
But. Yeah, it was a full.
No, but I mean, you know, and.
So you relate to the meaning part.
I really have the meeting.
That's not the bleeding.
I didn't fart gold nuggets now.
That's so cool, though.
Yeah.
I mean, that's. That proves we're all unique.
It would have been cool.
You're not like that guy.
I'm like a unicorn. Right? Farts like rainbows.
I get that a lot. People come up to me every day and go, lewis is like a unicorn. And I said for years, who's Lewis? I said, who is? To save time. And they said, you'll understand in three years. So I'm getting it now.
There you go.
Exactly. That's so cool. They said that.
No, but the meaning, though, you know, there's darkness. There can be darkness, but if we leave that meaning on that without seeing what's available on the other side.
Yes.
You know, for me, 10 years later, like, I would have never known that I would have this life.
Right.
And be doing the work that I'm doing and connecting with the people and having these other opportunities outside of this other dream that I had of playing football, but getting injured and being unlucky that I broke my wrist or whatever really created something magical.
Yeah.
In its place, so.
And we're so lucky for that. I mean, that helps me to get this out and. And do what I do and feel supported, and it helps millions of people. I mean, that's really amazing.
Yeah.
You know.
Yeah.
Truly thankful for you, man. I appreciate it that you chose that, because everything is not. I mean, you are proof. And I'm trying to embody the proof, hopefully, that it's not your circumstance, it's what you do with it. And the best question that I had said at the beginning was Michael Beckwith's question. What's trying to emerge out of you that you've never been before? What are you trying to become? And that injury was creating a situation where you were trying to emerge into a place that was trying to emerge out of that, that you would be doing this and on Ellen and helping people and millions of books and New York Times bestseller and, you know, that was trying to emerge. Yeah, Right. But in the moment, you're under such an illusion. Oh, I'm broke. So most people say, why me? The next one is how can I. The third one is what's trying to emerge. Right. What am I. What am I supposed to be or learn or do that? I've never been. What am I? Oh, I'm supposed to learn patience. I'm supposed to learn compassion. I'm supposed to learn creativity. I'm supposed to learn letting go, you know? Yeah. All those lessons came out of Milo.
