To GROW, you MUST do THIS!

Lewis Howes argues that growth requires leaving your comfort zone and facing discomfort. He explains how fear and shame create a cycle that keeps you stuck, then introduces Dr. Joe Dispenza's technique of feeling your desired future now to align your actions with who you want to become.

Challenges that come to your life. And in order for us to grow, you all know this. You're all way smarter than me in so many ways. In order for us to grow, it means you have to face some type of adversity. Something new, something that's unfamiliar, something that's challenging, something that's uncomfortable. That is the definition of growth. It's going beyond something familiar, something safe, something that you feel comfortable in. And in order to do that, we must be willing to learn the art of believing and accepting ourselves when those things happen. Because otherwise they're going to come to us, we're going to be hit with it. Say, ah, this is uncomfortable. I don't like this. I don't like this feeling. Let me go back to familiar. Let me go back to safety. Let me go back to what I know is true. To me at least I've survived in this period. And I just know that all the good things that have come to me, when I've gotten out of my comfort zone, when I've gotten out of insecurity and fear, when I've been. When I've allowed myself to stay stuck in fear and insecurity, that's when bad things happen. That's when I make mistakes. That's when I hurt myself. That's when I hurt other people. That's when I do things I'm not proud of. That's when I do things I'm ashamed of. And then I live with that shame and, and guilt for years and beat myself up. And then I beat myself up and I criticize and I do other things to mask the shame and guilt, to feel better about myself. Those things usually don't feel good when you do those things after a period of time. And so there becomes a cycle where you're living in the past. Shame and guilt, unforgiving to yourself, unable to heal that. And then you think and you put out a signal that is resentment, anger, frustration, unfairness, not enough, whatever it is, lack of forgiveness. And then you feel the feeling of shame and guilt and insecurity. And that cycle continues. So this is all about learning to break that cycle, having the tools of breaking it consistently and remembering your future self, which is what something I love about Dr. Joe Dispenza. He talks about, remember your future. And if you want to experience something you've never had, you have to remember what that will feel like in the future. Now, I know it's kind of weird, but you have to remember what that's going to feel like now and start thinking and acting in accordance consistently. And the more we can do that, the more we will unlock.
