#65: Full-Circle Conversation with my FIRST EVER Biz Coach
23 Mar 2022 · 49 min
Lindsay Bodeo talks with Aly Daniel, her first business coach, about building a coaching business. Aly runs an 8-week Path to Freedom program and emphasizes sticking to one flagship offer rather than constantly creating new ones. She spent $10,000 on her own coach and warns against lowering prices just because you lack confidence in your offer.

Yeah, so I'm so excited for today's interview. I have an amazing guest here. I actually have one of one of my very first mentors, Aly Daniel.
Welcome to the podcast.
I love it.
I wish they could see our video.
I know, I know. Yeah, y'all can't see us, but we're totally hyped right now. So it just feels, so we were just talking behind, you know, before we hit record about how full circle this feels because Aly was the very first Coach that I ever invested in. I was a first grade teacher.
So honored.
I know, and I like come across her 3-Day Soul Aligned Biz Challenge, which I'm sure we'll talk about that. And I just remember feeling like, oh, it's a sign from like God, it's a sign from the universe. Like, this is exactly what I need. Yeah. And it just, everything just aligned, lined up so perfectly. It was very, very soul aligned.
Wink wink. As it should be.
Yeah. And like, and I remember telling myself, I'm going to be on Aly's podcast one day. And I was like, yeah, I'm going to be on her podcast. Here I go. So anyways, finish up her program. Um, and then sure enough, like, I think like 2 months after or something like that, I came onto your podcast and now here we are and you're on my podcast and it just feels so full circle and so much changes. And that was like 2 and a half, not even quite 2 and a half years ago.
Yeah.
Like, Things just change so fast.
So yeah, anyways, it's, it's honestly, it's been so cool to watch your journey and how far you've come. I mean, yeah, when you first started, yeah, you were a teacher and I know you're feeling really burnt out in teaching and look at you now. You're like making six figures. You've like more than, I don't know, probably quadrupled now your like teacher salary.
Yes.
I remember when you left your job, it was pretty soon after working in Passive Freedom. It was like 6 months after that or something like that. Yeah, it was quick. It's been really, really cool. You know, it's kind of your journey is honestly like the journey that we hope for all of our clients. You know, like we give them that kind of like kickstart into their business and then it's like off to the races from there.
Oh, it's so good. So good. Yeah. And it's so crazy because I see. It was the end of 2020. It was like October 2020, I think, something like that. And then COVID, like the whole pandemic thing happened. No, no, 2019. Sorry, October 2019. And then 2020 was whenever all the craziness hit. So it was like, and it was like we had no idea what was coming. You know, we just had no idea what was going on.
We were, we were in bliss. Like I look back, I look back, I was talking to my brother about this because He was like, I'm just feeling kind of lost in my, in my job, my career. And I was like, honestly, Jason, everyone's feeling lost in their career and in their life right now. Everyone, because we're in such a weird, weird time that I was reflecting even. I was like, why was I so much happier in 2019? You know, it's not that I'm like unhappy right now. I'm fine, but like I'm fine. And that's not where I like ideally want to be, you know? And I was like, is there something wrong? Am I doing something wrong in my business? Am I doing something wrong with life. And then I realized, I'm like, no, 2019 was just the last year before COVID happened. And since then, life is just like in a weird standstill. It's in this weird place where like there's this, this sense of like dis-ease, you know?
Oh yeah, that's a good way to put it.
Right. And I feel like that easygoing carefreeness that we all had before is gone right now. Yes, it just is. And there's not much we can really do about it right now except just accept where we are, you know, except that that's just the place we're in right now and hope that it'll get better soon. But yeah, so kind of off topic a little bit there. But like, it is a weird, weird time. And I feel like, you know, if you're out there kind of struggling with where you're at right now, don't beat yourself up too hard. You're probably not doing anything wrong. It's probably just— it's probably just like the world that we're living in right now. Yeah, to be honest.
I agree. And I think that's why it's So, so important. Like we have connections and we have our friends online. Like we have our—
I'm so grateful for my business because I live alone right now in the middle of the desert where I don't know anybody here. And this is for health reasons that I had to move here, but I am so isolated. I mean, I've got Emma here, thankfully, my dog, but, but if I didn't connect with my clients and my team pretty much every single day throughout the week, I would go crazy. I would, I would be in a weird place. So I was just thinking about the other day of like, I haven't really connected with friends and family that much because they're not around, but why do I feel still, you know, how I, I still feel like I have my cup filled with connection and it's because of, yeah, my team and my clients. Thank God. I love it.
Well, on the other hand, I never get a moment alone. I have the kids every day. Love them. Heart you.
You know, totally in a different place. Yeah. Like, I mean, I, definitely want kids someday. But yeah, I'm in a place right now where it's like I am, I am alone. My time is 100% mine right now. I can do whatever the F I want. And it has been pretty nice in many ways to have that. Yeah.
So fun story. So sometimes— oh my gosh, y'all, please don't judge me. I'm going to share this with y'all. I don't know if I should share this, but I'm going to anyways. So sometimes Daniel and I play this really ridiculous game where we're like, What would we be— it'll be like a Friday night, like a Saturday, and we'll be like, kids, yeah, yeah, what would we be doing if we didn't have kids today?
It's so bad.
So, so this is okay. So we went, it was New Year's Day, and we, I guess we were like, like subconsciously playing this game. We took a little like road trip, ended up going to visit a car dealership because I had really, I've really been eyeing the Mercedes GLS, which is like a mom car. It's like a third row, but it's like a sexy one, you know. So anyways, we go there, we end up test driving a— it's like a little 4-door sedan, a sports car. It's like a little tiny car anyways, and bought it. Like, we bought the frickin Mercedes sports car because we're playing the game of like, what would we do?
That's amazing. It was so—
it was reckless. Reckless. It was—
oh my God.
I mean, in theory, it sounds very fun. But now we're like, this was not a very smart purchase. Like, let's get rid of it.
So Anyway, the flip side, here I am, and like when I was investing in my, actually the first car that I bought myself, uh, I was like, I need a big SUV because here I am mentally preparing for the family that I don't have. So I'm like, I'm gonna buy this big SUV for the kids that I'll eventually have.
Hey gang, Lindsay here. If you are a rising business owner who is navigating the personal and professional woes of entrepreneurship and you find yourself thinking, I wish I had someone to help unclutter all of the plans swarming around in my head, or I have big goals for this year and I could really use a plan to help me achieve those things, then I invite you to book a one-time laser strategy session with me. Okay, now back to today's episode.
It's like, why don't we just start where we're at right now? So I downgraded from like the big SUV to like a midsize, like I think it's a compact SUV. It's a It's the Jaguar F-Pace, which is kind of like the same size as like an Acura MDX.
Yeah.
Kind of those like smaller SUVs. But I like SUVs, but I don't need the space, obviously. Right. Right. I was planning for the future and here you are doing the exact opposite.
I love it. I love it.
Yeah.
We just have those weird tendencies, but whatevs. It's fine.
Whatever.
We're living in alignment. We're good.
Yeah.
All right, Allie. So tell us a little bit about what it is that you do in the online space, like who is it that you're really like here to serve? What kind of stuff do you do with your clients? I'm sure that they've kind of gotten the gist by now, but just give us a little bit of a rundown, like who you are and what is it, what is the impact that you're putting on the world?
Yeah. Great question. I like how you put it. Cause it's not just like, hey, what do you do? Right. What's the impact?
Like live my life, you know?
You know? So we obviously, you know, worked with you back when you started your business. That's exactly what we do. We work with new coaches or even aspiring coaches, you know, women who want to be but just haven't started yet. So we really help them launch their business with confidence, which means developing their own method.
Can you repeat that? I think we just had like a little, we just kind of—
Yeah, yeah. So basically, again, working kind of with new and aspiring coaches, helping them launch their business with confidence, which really means helping them create their soul-aligned niche. So Helping them really understand like what are the skills and the passions and the knowledge and life experience that they have within them that they can then turn into a business where they can, you know, help other people. And then like I said, from there, really crafting their proprietary coaching method, which is what I like to call it. It's their framework for helping their clients get results. And that's really where everything kind of comes together for everyone. It's when they start to feel like a legitimate coach. And then from there, kind of the last piece of that, of our signature program, Path to Freedom, is helping them actually enroll, you know, aligned clients for high ticket prices. So it's an 8-week program. That's our signature program. And then we also have our mastermind, which is a year-long program where we really support coaches after they've kind of graduated from their first, you know, client and they're looking to enroll consistent clients. That's really where our mastermind comes in. And what I love about that program is it's Yes, it's business focused, but it's so much more about personal growth and alignment and really becoming like the leader and the woman that you want to be in your own life. And then, you know, of course, running the business as well, scaling the business to that point. So yeah, that's really what we do. It's like just new coaches kind of in their first year, year and a half. That's kind of our jam. It's our specialty.
So good.
It's so good.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's a fun time for sure. It's a hard time.
It is a hard time. And I love that. Like, I remember it. So whenever I came in, I was like, I have no idea what I want to do. I just want to help people, you know? And I came in and I was a relationship— or I decided to kind of go on the relationship coaching path.
Yeah. And you have so much great experience in having solid relationships.
Oh my gosh. Yes. Yeah. And it was like, oh, like I have experience and I have knowledge and I, and I have this like toolbox that like other people want and they want to learn that. Like that was the foundation for that relationship coaching, you know, such a beautiful like jumping off, jumping off point.
I think that's the point, right? Like start where you feel capable and then you grow from there. You know, you evolve, you grow, you learn what you like and you don't like and you change. I will say pretty much there's, I don't know, maybe 20% of our graduates from Path to Freedom actually stay in that niche. Usually it changes within the 6 months or changes within the year, which is 100% normal. Like we just want that starting off point of like, let's get started. Let's get paid for coaching and practice coaching. And then I always say it's only, only through working with people that you will change, that your business will finally become aligned. You know, it may not start out that way,. But if you don't work with people, you're not going to know what needs to change or how you want to evolve. And so like that's our number one goal with Path to Freedom. It's like we're going to get you to start working with somebody at the end of the program because that is going to be the one thing that's going to motivate you, keep you going, and then also give you the data you need to then make the next decision.
Oh my gosh. So good.
It's so good.
Yeah, it really is. Yeah. So, okay. So I have a question that's more like some, okay. So I've known you for like 2 years now, a little bit more. And something that like I've always admired about your business model with Path to Freedom is how like dedicated you are to it. So like, okay, let me think about how to word this. Like I have changed my, not my niche because my niche has pretty much stayed solid, but it has evolved some, right? And I have always just admired how you've had Path to Freedom and it's ran since like when, 2000?
It started in January of 2018.
So that's like almost 4 or that is 4 years. That's 4 years now, right? So like, can you just kind of riff on that a little bit? Like what that's like to like have your signature program, to stick with it. Like I, and I'm so proud of myself. I've had Aligned Coach Academy now for a little bit over a year. And like, believe me though, I have thoughts of like, I should change the name of it.
And like, maybe we can try this and try that.
Yeah. And so I do do that. You know, I have little fun offers that we'll throw out, we'll do and stuff to keep things fun. But yeah, kind of riff on like what that's like to have your two, like your Path to Freedom, your Mastermind.
I'm like, that is the thing. Solid. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think honestly, every entrepreneur is different. So you really have to know your personality. And for me, I am someone somebody who likes repetition. I like perfecting things. I like mastering things. I can just zone in and focus on one thing for a long time if my energy is there. So for me, like I know that about myself. I don't thrive in newness and like unique experiences and like fun new things. So my head, I know it's, I'm not a typical entrepreneur. I think most entrepreneurs are people who are like, ooh, new thing, new thing, new thing. I want to do this and I want to do that. And I do have ideas, but I'm much slower to execute on them, I think, than most entrepreneurs probably are. So in many ways I do think it's an advantage, but in other ways, like I don't think it's an advantage. But our head coach inside of our mastermind is the opposite. She is the type that is always launching a new thing, always wants to do something different. And her and I have talked about this a lot because I really feel like I did find success pretty early on in business. I would say most people probably don't see success for 2 years, maybe even 3 years in their business. And I found, I mean, I wasn't profitable my first year yet, but I did earn $30,000, which is saying something.
That's pretty good. That's a salary.
My first year, yeah. And then it wasn't until my next year that I earned like $150,000. So it was like a pretty big jump. To the next year. And I definitely do credit my success year after year after year because we have grown almost double every year. I do credit it with like doing the same thing over and over again. I think there is a lot of value in that because you learn so much and you're able to master something. And I do think that— sorry, I don't know why I'm like coughing. Um, I know, God, why would you—
ah, that human function of yours.
Um, but I do think this is where a lot of young coaches or new coaches get caught up, and even just entrepreneurs in general, is they'll try something, it usually doesn't work great the first time. Nothing I've ever done has worked great the first time, I will tell you. Uh, so they scrap it and go to the next thing, and then they scrap it and go to the next thing when that doesn't work out as beautifully as they intended it to work out. And that's where the problem lies. It's like if you keep switching, then you never master anything. You never reapply your lessons, reapply the data, and analyze, and iterate, you know. And that's what it kind of takes to scale something, you know, to move something along faster. So I do think that I have an advantage in a way where I don't get bored with doing the same thing. And I know a lot of people do. And so I do think that there is a way to do both and you just have to kind of know your personality. And if you are the type that's like squirrel, squirrel, squirrel, squirrel, which I'm— that's not to say like ADHD or anything, because I actually think that I do have a little bit like ADHD, a mild case of it. But it's more just knowing, again, your personality type.. And for me, new things I am very slow to implement, but I do like repetition. I thrive in the sameness in many ways. But if you don't, just know that about yourself and know that you're gonna want to like create something new when you feel called to it. And so do that, but don't switch your focus. Like what I would say is like stay focused on your signature program, on the offer that you've already launched, you know, maybe once or twice and keep doing it. And then have fun with the workshops, have fun with the little, like you said, like little offers that you just want to put out there because you feel called to it and excited about it, but don't focus your energy on it. Have a good time.
Don't tear everything down. No, exactly. Burn it to the ground. Yeah.
Yeah, exactly. And I do think a lot of people do that, you know, they burn something to the ground and it's like, but you had such a perfectly good business. Yeah, but you had a foundation. Yeah, you had a foundation. Like I do, I have a couple friends who I've been in masterminds with and there's nothing wrong with their journey, right? But they've torn things down and started over from scratch and, you know, now they're in debt 3 years later and they don't have, you know, that thriving business that allows them to have a salary or, you know, like live wherever they want, you know? And I think there's definitely something to be said of having that solid foundation, keeping it and still exploring other things. You know, you don't have to tear things down in order to try new things and have fun.
I agree with that 1,000%, 1,000%. I love what you said about like have that flagship offer, have that one thing that you know works, like, and we can perfect that, right? We can keep going with that and then have fun with your other stuff, right? So that has like accidentally happened within my own business model, you know, like Align Coach Academy has been around for a while. We took a little bit of a break from it like last year as I was going through like some mental health stuff and like, you know, getting my own mind right, which I think is totally common if you're an entrepreneur.
And I have to say, like, I kind of, I mean, I went through a health thing. It wasn't mental health, but a very physical health issue last year. And if I hadn't had the team that I had, everything would have stopped. I mean, my whole business would have stopped. I wouldn't have been able to do it at all really for 6 months of last year. So, you know, I think everybody runs into these times in their business where maybe things have to stop, maybe things have to slow down, maybe you're pivoting and changing things or completely like not working. I mean, I was working maybe 5 hours a week for most of last year just serving my clients. That was it. I would come on client calls. I felt the energy to do that. And then that was it. I did not do anything else. So we all go through like those kinds of phases in our business. And I do, I'm so grateful that I had built my business in the way that, and it was totally unintentional. I was never really like, oh, I'm going to build it in this way and have a team so that, you know, like I can get sick and not work. You know, like it was totally unintentional the way that it happened. Although I think part of it was because Eventually I do want to have kids, so I want to be able to have something that can kind of run, you know, on its own. But it happened to just be like, oh, well, instead of kids, here you go, you're, you're incapacitated for half the year. And so I'm lucky that I had, you know, team members who are so aligned with me and my mission and my clients that they were able to easily and effortlessly, like, carry it forward. Um, but yeah, we all go through these weird times in our business where we may have to stop.
Yeah. It's okay. Like, it's fine.
It's okay. Yep. Absolutely.
Yeah. You can back up and keep going. Yeah. Yeah. So during that time, my focus was like private coaching. Like I just really honed in, like called in, like just soulmate fricking private clients. And a lot of them were like re-signs from Alliance Academy, you know? So that, that was what carried me through during that time, you know? So, but on that note, it's like, Alliance Coach Academy has like unintentionally turned into like the constant thing. And then I'm having fun through like the workshops and the free webinars and like the pop-up. Now I'm like doing Voxer coaching and like, yeah, I'm with the other stuff, you know. Yeah.
You feel just lit up by it. Yeah. I always like to say, you know, because my clients, a lot of, a lot of them are very different than me, you know, so I'm not gonna ever like tell someone to do exactly what I did because one, they're different and I don't think coaches should really ever tell people what to do. I agree. But, but yeah, I mean, follow what lights you up. I always say that to my clients. It's like if you are feeling called to this, like follow it, you know, we always ask a couple of questions first to make sure, like, you know, that it's not out of fear or— Yeah, exactly. That it's at a place out of a place of alignment and joy and inspiration, not out of fear. For example, sometimes we'll have a client who will come to us and say, well, maybe I want to do a mini course or launch a membership or do this or do that. Sometimes it's aligned and that's inspired to them. They feel excited by it. And then sometimes they're like, well, people just aren't saying yes on my calls. So I think my price is too high. So then I think I should maybe lower my price. And you know, if you're making decisions from that place, like that's a place of fear and that's just only going to lead you to more places of fear. You know, so we always like to just double check like where is this coming from? Like what is your driver? And if it's out of that place of alignment and fun and inspiration, like by all means go, go for it, do it, do the dang thing. But if it's from that place of fear, like let's reevaluate, let's really like calm your nervous system down and really get to a place of groundedness where you can see things from a new perspective and see like what is the decision that feels true for you.
Yep, so good, so good. Sometimes whenever I think about like lowering a price or like, you know, doing something different, I'm like, wait a minute, well, if I sold this thing at this lower price, would it take away all of my resistance? Like, would it take that away? And if it's like, no, I think there'd still be some resistance, then it's like you need to do the inner work. Like, you need to like ground yourself and like and remind yourself like what a bad B you are. Like, you know, you gotta do the mindset work. But it's like, okay, cool. If I lowered the price and I know I could sell it 1000%, no questions asked, I could talk about this thing all day long because of how frickin good it is. Cool. Take the path of least resistance, you know. But it's like, if you lower that price and you're still having the mindset stuff come up, like, that's your sign, you know, like, let's just do the work around it. Like, let's, let's dive in and see why it's coming up, you know. Yep, definitely. So because like, we have to be convinced of our prices, of our offers, of what it is we do before anyone else can.
Yeah, I was just going to say that. I was like, there is sometimes a valid time to lower your prices. And a time like that might be when you really don't feel confident in what you are promoting and selling. And if you're not feeling confident in that price, like no one's going to buy it. So you either got to do it, like period. So either got to do the mindset work, you know, do the inner work so you can feel confident and clear, or lower your price. That's fine. You have two choices. You can do both or you can start with mindset. You can start with lowering the price. You know, like there's lots of options, but you can't just go out and keep trying to sell something that you don't feel confident in. That is not—
Yeah.
Yeah.
You're flaky and like you talk about it one time and you're like, it's not working. And it's like, yeah, but like how many times have you talked about it?
You know? I know, like if you're not over the moon excited about it, who is going to be? Nobody. Nobody.
That's like the number one thing. It's like if someone's like, Lindsay, I don't think it's working, or like, you know, I don't know if people want this, it's like literally that's the first question. When's the last time you talked about it? Like how many times have you talked about it? Like there's this—
Do you want it also?
Yeah, yeah, like exactly. There's this reel that was like going viral for a little bit and it's like One time, 3 times, 500 times, 1,000. It's like more, more, more. It's like, that's how many times we're going to be talking about this. So welcome, welcome to the online marketing space. That's just part of it. We just got to repeat ourselves. Yeah.
And you just have to, I think part of it is, again, you have to be excited for what you're sharing because if you're not, then yeah, you're not going to talk about it enough times and that passion's not going to come through.
I mean, yep.
Oh, there's Emma. I saw her tail like—
she's like a brand pillar for you.
I know, she really is. All my clients are like, where's Emma? Where is she? Yeah, I always show her on our calls.
I love it. Do you still drink a matcha latte in the mornings?
I do, except for this month because I am on a low histamine diet. Apparently only 1% of the population is affected by histamine intolerance. That happens to be me. My doctor ran some tests and found that that's an issue for me. So, so yeah, I'm on a low histamine diet this month, this month, which comes with its complications, one being I cannot have leftovers. So I literally need all my food comes from the freezer right now. It's a nightmare. It's a nightmare. I basically go buy my food on Sunday. I do a bunch of meal prep. I cook some things. I freeze those things or I just like like freeze them straight from purchasing. I can have some vegetables in the fridge for about 2 days, but that's about it. So, wow, that is so interesting. Because apparently like the longer food sits out, sits out, the more histamines collect. So we're trying to lower the histamine count in my body right now.
And that's one way.
Yeah, Ali, I know, I know. I am a special needs person right now. I've got lots, I've got like a lot of, uh, I mean It's working out because like I said, I'm here alone. Like it's just a good time for all of this. But I'm going to Big Bear with some friends this weekend. I'm like, I'm packing all my freezer meals. Here I come. I've got my cooler in the car with all my prepackaged freezer meals. I'm ready to go. So good. You gotta do what you gotta do.
It's also like, and I know that you're super big on gratitude journaling and finding gratitude and those best practices. So it's like at the same time, How freaking cool is it that like you do have power over your schedule and like you do have like autonomy over your day?
If I had to go into an office, I would not be— I mean, I would have to like use the office freezer or something. And then how would I heat my meal? Like in the microwave? No, I do everything on the stove now. You know, it's just like I take it out, I put it in a pan and sometimes with some water and kind of like steam it. Sounds delicious. Oh yeah. I mean, I've made a couple things that are good, but for the most part, food which is pretty boring right now. I'm just eating to survive. I am normally a, I live to eat type of person. Right now I'm just an eat to live type person. Yeah, it's boring. But yeah, you're right. It is like, I am definitely so blessed that a lot of the health stuff that I've encountered over the last 6 months, well, over the last 6 years, to be honest, it's been on and off. I've had good years and bad years without having the flexibility in my schedule. And to be quite honest, like the income that I've been making, I've thought so many times how sad I am for people out there who have similar health issues, who aren't finding solutions because they're going to their doctors, the doctors that are covered by their insurance, and the doctors are just like, I don't know what's going on with you. Like, I ran these 5 tests and I don't know. So like, I've gone to specialists, I've gone to functional medicine doctors, I've gone to mold specialists. Like, there's just I've paid a lot of money in my health and in my doctors this year and so many tests and supplements, man, like those, those rack up in prices. So it's like, if I, I just don't even know, I don't think if you weren't, if I wasn't making this kind of money, like I wouldn't be solving my health problems. Like it's really sad. Like I do think about it all the time, just what I like fucked up system we have for people's health here and how people who have really complicated health issues aren't getting solutions simply because they can't afford it. What the fuck? Seriously, that's not okay. Yeah. So yeah, I'm definitely passionate about the health industry and health coaches. I love— like, I've got a couple of health coaching clients who are like working on people with their gut and I'm just like, yeah, good. Like, it's so good. We need you.
Yeah, we need it. Yeah. So funny, funny that you bring that up. One of my like health goals for this year is to like start phasing out like a lot of processed stuff, like as I drink a Bang energy drink, but you know, like one thing at a time here, like try to phase out like processed, like cosmetic stuff and like, you know, like, like reducing that toxic load. So it's like on the vision board.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You have to, you know, I have to, yeah. Apparently I have like this genetic mutation, which I think about a quarter of the population has. It's, it's pretty common that we don't detox properly. We have like, we're like low methylators, which means like we're just part of our process is not detoxing properly. So I'll actually store up toxins, which has been what's caused my outpouring of health issues and like skin reactions. It's literally my toxic bucket is overflowing. So that's one thing I've learned. Like I do, I actually have to cut out the toxins. Like I can, my body cannot withstand it. And yes, I can take some supplements that are now helping methylation issues and everything. But yeah, like for sure, it's definitely something that I do feel most people probably have an issue with that they don't really know. But yeah, yeah, that's one of, one of mine is just health in general. It's getting to like my healthiest physical being possible this year. So yeah, I'm feeling really good so far. Like we're in a good place. I feel like I'm finally getting solutions and now I'm working with like a fitness coach. And watch out now. I know I'm like lifting those lights. Yeah, girl, Allie coming in hot. Okay. So yeah, I'm excited for this year. It's going to be a good year, but it takes time and dedication and money.
Yeah, absolutely. So y'all go sell them offers.
Go sell those high ticket coaching offers. Go sell your coaching. God, get on it. Talk about it again.
You need it. Yep.
That's right.
Well, Allie, this has been so good. If you could give our audience like any like takeaway right now, which I know that they've gotten so many really from this, but like I don't know, like what would you say to them? Like maybe one thing that's like coming through right now, like what would you send them off with?
Hmm, that's a good question. What is coming through right now? No pressure. Don't talk too long. Um, gosh, I mean, honestly, it's probably going to sound like advice you've heard again and again, but it's like invest in yourself. I don't care who you invest with. With. Doesn't have to be me, it doesn't have to be Lindsay. Invest in somebody that you trust, a coach who you've done your research on, who you really align with, who you energetically are a match for. Like, I think it's the best thing that you can do for yourself. It really truly is. You know, when you invest in yourself, you're literally telling yourself I'm one worth it. Like I'm worth this. And also I believe in myself, you know, like I believe that I can do this with just a little bit of guidance. And I'm almost getting like emotional because like I really— Yeah, because like I remember making my first big investment in myself. It was a $10,000 program which turned into $12K with payment plan. And I was so scared, but I just felt it was right. I just felt like this was what was gonna do it for me. So I asked my parents for money. I definitely had the privilege of coming from a family who could support me in that, and I paid them back every cent. But, you know, it was money that I didn't have at the time. And I was like, God, am I an idiot? Like, am I am I a foolish person doing this? Like, will I ever be able to pay my parents back? Will they think like I'm a loser? Will other people think I'm a loser? You know, all those fears. But it really just felt like at that moment that I was like, you can do this. Like, you, that future that you want, that business that you want, that freedom that you want, like, it is available to you. Other people have it. Other people have created did it, why couldn't you? Like, why not you? Yeah, why not? Yeah. And so sure, maybe you can't do it on your own. That's okay. You don't have to, you know, like I don't think anybody can do this on their own. No successful company that you see out there has ever been run by like a CEO or startup founder who didn't have mentors and support. So, you know, like we don't have to do it alone. And I think a lot of us like we perceive that as a weakness maybe. But asking for help and getting help, like once you do it, it changes everything for you because you just have so much more fun, you feel so much more supported, you feel so much more capable. So yeah, I mean the biggest thing I would say is just like take the time, do some research, find something that you're excited about to invest in. Don't invest in something out of fear, don't invest in somebody because you see their flashy results that they're sharing. Invest, like, do your research. I never work with a coach, like, like quickly. I always like take probably 6 months to a year or longer before I actually work with anybody that I feel called to work with. So I almost never make— I've never made like an impulse coaching decision. I would say all the coaches I've worked with in a deep capacity, I've known for like 6 months or more. There's been some like smaller ones that maybe was like a couple of weeks or something, but it's always— I always take my time and really feel into like, is this somebody that I want to learn from, like whose life I could really see myself enjoying, you know? And then for me, I'm the type of person where once I get on the call with somebody, I know, like there's no, there's no, because I've thought about it so much before already, you know, like I've never had a coach have to like handle objections with me or like, you know, like hold space for me while I decide on a call. No, I go onto my call knowing my decision, period, because I've done my research, you know, like I know I like this person, I trust this person, I want to work with this person and therefore I'm booking a call. It's never like, oh, convince me, or like, is this going to be a good decision? No, like I would say that, like, know your decision before you get on a call with somebody. Do your research. Like, ask yourself these questions. Is this somebody like I feel inspired to work with? Is this somebody that I could see, you know, really helping me get to the next level? And what are my goals? And can they help me get there? You know, do all of that thinking before you ever get on a call with somebody, and you'll always know your decision. You know, before you get on a call, and you can just feel them out and be like, yeah, this is the right fit.
You know, this is it. Yeah. Yes. I don't even know we're on the phone right now.
Exactly. Just here's my money. Take it. I'm ready to do this.
Yeah. That was so good, Allie. Thank you so much for just like normalizing that whole investment process. See, I'm the opposite. Like, I pretty much like my most recent, like, close mentor that I'm working with right now, 5-figure investment. She's amazing. But I like literally started following her like 2 weeks before I made the investment. But it's because like, you just like, I'm the type whenever I know, I just—
Yeah, you just know. Yeah. And I wouldn't say like I'm opposed to that, you know, and 2 weeks is enough time to do your research, you know, as long as I do lots of research. Yes. Yeah, exactly. Like I, that's, I guess that's more what I mean when I say I don't impulsively just enroll with somebody. I could be following somebody I'm trying to think of like the shortest time frame that I've worked with somebody. Um, actually, I think it was my first health coach. Like, I found her through an Instagram hashtag, I messaged her, we had a call, I was ready to go. Um, it was, it was in that moment. Yeah, yeah, exactly. But do the research, you know? Like, that's— God, because truth be told, like, coaching is the wild, wild west, and there's a lot of people out there who are like, I'm a coach, and You know, like what, like what do they really have to show for it? There's so many different types of coaches, you know, and I don't mean like niches, but I mean like energetically. Yeah, their styles. And so like watch their videos and watch them do interviews and like read their posts and understand the type of coach that they are because Like you, oh God, man, I do hear like time and time again, people working with coaches or other programs that like they just invested in because of the results that they were showing, but they didn't know they have to like run ads and like, yeah, but yeah, ebook or like, yeah, they just didn't take the time to really explore like what is this person's style and does it align with me? And you know, like energetically, do I feel called to them? Question the energetics, you know, I know like some people aren't as woo-woo maybe as maybe you or me, but it's not about woo-woo. It's about that feeling of like, does this person excite you? Does this person like, do what they say speak, does it speak to you? You know, like, does it speak to your soul? I actually had my coach who I'm working with now, like I had her on my podcast maybe a year ago. And I had been following her for for like 2 or 3 years before that. Never investing with her. I always knew I would at some point. I was like, when I first found her, I was like, I do want to work with her, but nothing she put out ever was like, this feels right. And then I had her on my podcast and again, I was like, God, I gotta work with you at some point. Like give me something that I can invest in because like I just, when she talked, like I was just magnetized by what she said and just everything she said resonated so deeply with me that for me, when I invest in coaching now, it's not like, oh, I need help, like I need someone to fix my problems. I don't have any problems. I want to just grow. I want to evolve. I want to get to, you know, like that's just the type of coaching I invest in now. And so with her, it was just like, oh, I'm just like so lit up by like what you're saying and like just the depth of like your knowledge and spirituality and your wisdom. Like I just I want to be in that. And so I just, yeah, I just knew that I would work with her soon, although that was like a year ago and, or more. And finally she put out something, I was like, yes, that is, that feels right. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
So yeah, further like reiterates the, the point behind consistency and like continuing to show up.
Yep, I was just gonna say something similar because you never know who's watching and like who's waiting waiting for the right moment.
Just waiting.
They're waiting. Yeah, and that's another thing about those aligned actions or aligned inspirational jolts that you get. Maybe a workshop you put out or that Voxer coaching that you put out, maybe that's the thing that's like, yes, that's what I need. That person, yeah, and they're waiting on it. Yeah, exactly. So yeah, like you said, it's just like stick with it because Because you could have, let's say, 500 followers right now and you're like, but nobody's interested. It's like, but they are and they're following you and they're listening and they're engaging with you and they're following along. Like to be honest, I followed this coach, her name's Madison. I followed her way long ago when I first started my business. I occasionally saw things from her, like rarely on Instagram, rarely on her emails, but occasionally I would. So I was not like the type that was interacting with her all the time. I wasn't commenting or liking her posts even. I like barely even saw her. And then randomly I saw an Instagram post from her. I was like, oh yeah, that's the program I want to do. And it was a direct call to action of like, here's the program I'm launching, here's what it's about. But I knew her, I trusted her. And again, this is that divine intervention, you know, it's like I don't ever see her content. I rarely saw her posts on Instagram, but That one showed up for me at the right time when I was looking, you know, there it was. Oh, it's for a reason. Yeah, that's good. Good stuff. So pay attention to those signs. Yeah, you know, ask for support and then pay attention. See what shows up for you. Trust that.
Trust it. Yeah, so good. Okay, Aly, well, this has been super duper juicy. Where can our audience, where can our listeners come and creep you, find you? Where can they learn more about you and follow along your journey?
Yeah. So I will say, you know, Lindsey took our 4-day Soul Align Business Challenge, which you mentioned in the beginning, which was like the kickstart to her business. So we do have that. It's, you can find it at punchdrunksoul.com/challenge and you can join and you can really get, you know, a clear sense of your niche and the type of coach that you should be. And I'll just kind of like walk you through what you need to know, what you don't need to know, what you can stop doing, and the one thing that you kind of need to do in order to start. So you can always join that at the challenge site. And then you can connect with me on Instagram. I think that's the best way to connect with me. I'm usually posting pretty frequently there. If I'm not posting, you'll know that I'm not feeling good. That's like the sign. Um, but yeah, I've been posting pretty frequently these days on Instagram. Um, so that's just @punchdrunksoul there as well. Um, and we are kicking up the podcast soon again, so that should be, um, starting up again in February. And that's just the Punch Drunk Soul podcast. So everything's Punch Drunk Soul. You can find me there. We've also got a free Facebook group for coaches that I will, um, drop in here too because we are starting to do some new content in there. I'm interviewing all my team members about like what's working, what's not working, what are we seeing people struggling with in their coaching businesses and how, how do we help, you know, how do we support. So those are really fun. I was just doing one earlier today. So that group is, you can just go to punchdrumsoul.com/squad for that one. Join us, join us there. So good.
