#84: Money Making Monday: How you do one thing is how you do everything
16 Dec 2024 · 8 min
Lindsey Badillo argues that how you show up in one area of life shapes everything else: skipping reps at the gym becomes cutting corners with clients. Money loves speed, she says. Pending energy and indecision are what block cash flow.

Good morning. It is a Working Walk Monday. We're going to call it Money Making Monday because I want every single one of you listening to start your week off with doing something, thinking a certain thing, taking an action, making a declaration that you are going to do something that brings money into your life and into your ecosystem. Here is why. Money itself does not make you happy. We all know that. Having— holding it in my hand is not the thing that makes me happy, is not the thing that makes me fulfilled. It is actually the emotions that come up knowing that I have the option. So when you receive the money, when you get the thing, you know that you have the option to then go and buy food for your, for your family. You know that you then have the option to pay off debt. Even if you don't do that right then, you have the option. You know that you have the option to take a vacation. So it's not even what it brings you when it actually comes to reality. It's you having the knowing that you have the option. So I made a statement the other day on my Instagram stories that You know, it was just a funny thought. It was like, if everything failed, if everything in my life failed, I would just go back and be a teacher. Like, first of all, things are not going to fail. That's just not— that's not even possible. It's not even plausible. There's no such thing as really failing. That's just never going to happen. But if everybody woke up one day and decided, we're not going to pay our invoices, Lindsay sucks, we're going to cancel. I would go back and be a teacher and I would never, ever, ever like, yeah, it just would not be an option to not have anything. Right. So with that knowing, even though that's not what's going to happen with that knowing, it brings a knowing that I have an option. It brings a knowing that on the really, really hard days and I feel like everything's going to shit, everything is, you know, not going my way, it's like, okay, Lindsay, you don't have to make options out of scarcity or out of lack because you have choices. So with that, I want to go into that mindset. Okay, that mindset, knowing that you have options, knowing that you have choices, start making your decisions that way. Do not put yourself in a corner. Do not put yourself against the wall and think, oh, I have no choice. I have to do this really low vibe thing that I don't actually really want to do. I have to sell my services for cheaper. I have to slash all my prices in half. I have to take on a client that, God, I really don't want to because I'm forced to. Like, no, you have choices. And if you are showing up in your life as if you have no choice, as if all of your sovereignty, all your choices have been taken away from you, well, that's what life is going to give you. It's going to give you half-ass choices because you have a half-ass kind of mindset around it, right? And I truly 100% believe that how you show up in one area of your life will 100% determine how you show up in another area of your life. So for example, at the gym, if I decide I am going to cut my workout, I'm going to skim off the— I literally had this moment last week. I shared this in my Leads Mastery invitation on Friday, but I had this moment in the gym last week where I had one exercise to go. I had to do cable glute kickbacks and I crushed this entire workout. I had plenty of time. I was just doing great. Didn't have any early morning calls I had to run off to. And I get to the very last set, and it's 4 sets, or the very last exercise, it's 4 sets of cable kickbacks. And I'm like, oh God, I really don't feel like doing these. My butt's on fire. I don't want to do it. And I literally had this moment of inflection in the gym, AirPods in. I'm like having this conversation with myself, like, Lindsay, you could just remove this exercise from your workout plan and it would still show up as 100% completed. And so as I'm having this moment in the gym, I'm like, okay, let's— you can take it off. Like, your trainer wouldn't know any different. It would still look like you did the exercise 100%. But then I thought, okay, if I do that here, where else will I go do that today? Where else will I go skim something off because I just don't feel like doing it? No real reason. I'm perfectly capable of it. And it's actually going to give me the results that I want. It's actually going to lead to the body and the health and the strength and the confidence when I do that thing. But just because I had the option to skim it off, it was really this moment that I had to have a talk with myself. So if there are areas in your life where you're skimming things off the back end, where you're taking shortcuts, where you are trying to fool someone into thinking that you've done the whole workout, right? I'm trying to fool my team into them thinking that I've put in the work to prepare for this launch. I'm trying to fool my clients and my customers into them thinking that I'm actually really prepared for their onboarding. I'm trying to fool myself and tell myself that I've been putting in 100% to sales and marketing, knowing that that's not actually true. When you do that, it's going to carry over into other parts of your life. So Then you show up in your relationships and you're trying to fool your partner. Yeah, I'm doing everything I can. It's all your fault. Like, it shows up in every area of your life. So when we have these moments in business, in life, in growth, where you're really facing resistance— I talked about this in the very last podcast episode about going through resistance, and that's where growth is. So go back and listen to that, episode 83, if you have not. But when you have these moments of resistance in life or business, you have to ask yourself, where else in my life does this show up? So for example, maybe you have a big decision. Maybe you are sitting on the cusp of a really big decision and you are wondering if you should do A or if you should do B. And you're like, I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking about it. And you're really sitting in this place of pending energy, right? You have this pending energy. It's like, oh, I'm kind of up in the air. I don't really know if I'm going to do it or not, but you're really not taking any actions either to get clarity on it. So that is often prevalent, present somewhere else in your life. So maybe you have a client who's also in pending energy. Maybe you have a sale. That is sitting on the fence of pending energy. Maybe they're like, oh, well, I don't know, I need to think about it. So you know what you need to do to get yourself out of pending energy? You need to go hold someone else to the accountability that you need to hold yourself to, right? Or you need to go tie up the loose ends in the other part of life where you're on the fence of making a decision or not. Because money loves speed. This is Money-Making Monday, and money loves speed. So you go make a decision, whether it's yes or no, up, down, left, or right, you make a decision, money's gonna follow that, okay? That's just, that's just how it is. It loves action, it loves speed, it loves decision, it loves execution. So you have to make a decision and that's what's actually gonna move you forward. Good morning. So if you're finding this resistance slip up in your life, ask yourself, where else in my life is it showing up? Because how I do this one thing is gonna dictate how I do everything else. And you are not immune to that, no matter how old you are, how wise you are, how experienced you are. It is a fact. Okay, so let's go make some moves, go make some decisions, make it happen, and let's make this a fantastic Money Making Monday.
