Welcome back to the Biohack Method podcast. Lindsey Burwell here. I'm an integrated health practitioner, and I'm going to dive in deep into a topic that I'm just like, completely floored over and I cannot stop hearing about and seeing within my clients, in my practice and honestly with my friends. And it's about testosterone. I don't know about you, but I feel like everybody and their husband and their mom and their friend are on testosterone hormone replacement therapy. And I've been seeing this and hearing it, and I'm like, what is happening? And so today I just want to dive into that, like, what is causing low testosterone and just bring some clarity on some things that we can do very tactically to naturally increase testosterone. Also look at, like, what the heck is causing low T, which really, you guys, it's, it's, it's no surprise. And it's just little things that we can do to boost it. And most importantly, stay, stay till the end, because I have some tips and tricks that you can actually boost your testosterone easily in a few days. So let's just dive right into this. And I want to start off by totally just recognizing, again, like, testosterone and it being low one, it's a hormone, but it doesn't just impact men. This actually impacts women. And I'm seeing it equal, honestly, both ends. I'm seeing women on hrt. I'm seeing men on hrt. As an integrated health practitioner, I run a lot of metabolic and wellness scans all the time. And I truly can see that there are hormonal imbalances. But you know, what's most wild is, like, most of them, they were just taking, you know, the drug. They weren't even direct. They'd gone to a doctor, maybe run some labs, and they were not really given any guidance as far as diet, lifestyle stress management to support their body naturally to increase those testosterone levels back to baseline. These clients that I was seeing, they just knew they were tired, they were unmotivated, they weren't seeing results at the gym. Right? They were just feeling kind of flat and disconnected from their bodies, or maybe they were even feeling like their drive was gone. And so on the flip side, though, I do want to make a comment, like, I do have a lot of friends, friends who experience this and are not on testosterone. So it's really hard to say, like, is this. Is this actually a testosterone problem, or is this a mal. Micronutrient problem? Is this, like, a cortisol issue? But it does seem to be, like, testosterone's just kind of getting the blame right now. Just using that as our tool, at least that's just what I'm noticing. But I just want to really dive into again, like, why t could be low, what's happening, and what we can do about it. Testosterone truly does matter. Like, it really does. I actually used to not think it was that big of a deal, but testosterone affects a lot of things. It affects energy, it affects metabolism, muscle tone, confidence, libido, motivation, mental clarity. So, you know, if you're like, 99 of Americans that are, like, always tired, feeling sluggish, feeling inflamed, low sex drive, you guys truly, like, I feel like everyone comes to me also with this. Like, I have no sex drive. Right? So you have all these different things going on. And it's like, it might be my testosterone. In men, it's, like, very obvious, I feel like. But in women can be a little bit more sneakier. Low t in women can show up more. Like, I feel fat. I don't feel like myself. I'm doing all the right things. Nothing is changing. I have low drive, physically and mentally. My workouts aren't that great. And honestly, I have a lot of anxiety or maybe even, like, low mood. And that's where it's like, okay, what's going on here? Is this hormones? Is this micronutrients? Let's dive a little bit deeper. So historically, this wasn't really a problem. Honestly, like, this never really was on the radar. So my. My brain always goes to like, why is this now on the radar? And I think it kind of makes sense. So hear me out. This isn't happening because people are broken. Like, our bodies are the same. They're not broken. But what is happening is our environment is literally crushing hormone signaling. And here's what I see over and over again, quite chronic stress, high cortisol. Weird. Is like, literally running on fumes. Even me. Some days it's kind of. Sometimes it's hard. You kind of get trapped into that life, right? Like, trying to get it all done. Poor sleep, so not sleeping great. And then blood sugar dysregulation. You could be over training, under recovering. I had a moment of that Q4. I'll be completely honest. Toxic, toxin and endocrine disruptor exposure. So think about just, like, how toxic our world has gotten even in just the last five years, right? Ems, wi fi, Bluetooth, the chemicals on our products. Like, the list literally goes, goes on. Our liver has never had to work harder than it has today. And then gut and liver overload. Like our processed foods, our stress, our poor microbiome because we're not eating variety, we're not eating seasonally. Those probiotics are literally dying off and going extinct, which is causing bloating, cause, causing, you know, distension, what have you. So it's like you take a little bit of all of that and like, this could totally be the perfect storm causing that hormone dysregulation. And just like a side note, like, to testosterone doesn't just disappear. It just gets a little suppressed, let's say. So you can get it back up, you can revitalize it, you can wake it up, and it can totally be healed. Like, I'm a big proponent of like, your body knows how to heal. It has those enzymatic processes. It. It was literally wired to heal you guys. I want you to think of this visual. If your body hated you and like, you really were broken, if you got a paper cut, like, you would just die, right? You'd bleed out and die. Like your body, like, oh, perfect exit strategy. This is exactly what I want. But instead, no matter how inflamed, no matter what you have going on in your body, when you get a paper cut, your body instantly clots the blood, like in seconds, meaning your body literally wants you to survive and thrive and be alive. It is truly, truly on your side. And so I just want to talk about, you know, honoring like, our body's ability to heal. And also talk about, like, you know, there are a lot of really great tools out there. Hormone replacement supplements, diet, lifestyle. But like, when it comes to hormone replacement therapy, like real talk, I think it is incredible. It's totally a great tool. There's just a time and a place where HRT is that amazing tool. But it's not for everyone. And it's not for everyone at each, like at every moment. And so just jumping to it, especially let's say if you're under like 45, I think feels sometimes a little aggressive and reactive. And I really believe that taking more of a functional root cause approach first, right? Let's just try that first. Let's just see what happens then. If you're still low and you've tried it all, then of course HRT is great. But what I'm seeing more and more, like, especially in younger and younger Women, like, and men, is people just jumping straight to that HRT testosterone without asking, like, why did your levels drop? Like, why did my levels drop in the first place, right? It's kind of like getting your thyroid checked. Okay, you have low thyroid. Well, why, like, why can't we, like, let's get to the root cause of, like, what's causing low thyroid. Let's support that. So maybe the thyroid can heal on its own, right? So once something really important too, like, once you're on testosterone, your body can kind of stop making its own, right? Because it's like, oh, I'm getting it exogenously. I don't really need to take it. I don't really need to make it because I'm getting it right. And that's not like a totally a bad thing, but it is a commitment. So just like, kind of be aware, like, you're going into this, you're going to take testosterone. You are kind of signaling to your body and your brain, like, hey, you really don't have to work hard to make this at all. So don't. You don't have to work on those healing processes, like, because I. I'm just going to get it fed to me. So I think just like being a educated consumer, being empowered with that information really helps, you know, anyone going into HRT or no hrt. I just don't think a lot of people realize, like, also how fast hormones can respond naturally and how much stress and sleep, how much blood sugar, how much nutrients, all these little things matter. And they can make a huge impact even with just little shifts. And there are more supportive options before going complete, like, hrt. And I just want to end this part, like, really, it's not about, like, either or truly. It's not. It's just about having options like, no shame, no guilt. I want everyone to truly make a decision based on inner knowing and inner guidance and just like, also with some discernment and education. And that's great. Whatever you decide to do, truly is great. And I'm so happy for that. I'm just here to kind of shed some light on things that I think are really good opportunities to learn and to just, like, try out. Right? Here's what's also really empowering. I love this. Testosterone can change really fast. And this does surprise a lot of people because they think, oh, it's low. Like, this is going to be a thing forever. And like, this. Maybe it does take a while to change for some people, but, like, I'm going to tell you what I Have seen some crazy things happen when you support your nervous system, when you balance your blood sugar, when you get a few really good night sleep, like give yourself your body, like, give it some actual micronutrients, right? Antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, like not just carbs and fats, but like some good leafy vegetables, some fruits, like all the good stuff. You would be shocked how testosterone can shift. Like if you are like high, strong, high stress, doing too much, then of course your T is going to be low. I have seen changes truly in just a matter of weeks with people coming in with more energy, better workouts, better mood, libido coming back online. Like your body really does want to function. It just needs the right environment. Here's something so big. I, you know, I was saying, like I see seeing this pattern and what am I? I'm a pattern identifier and I'm a problem solver. I'm like, we need a solution for these people because like HRD is great, but let's, let's also provide some other options. So we, as you know, have a transdermal company called the Patch Method. These are vitamins that get absorbed through the skin, bypassing gut and liver. So a typical supplement you swallow, it gets broken down by the liver, gets absorbed by the gut. If you have any kind of interferences in those pathways, it can definitely downregulate absorption, which is why sometimes you might be literally spending a million dollars on vitamins and you're like, I feel no different. It is all about absorption, it's all about liver. So transdermal is just a different delivery model, getting it right into the bloodstream, similar to like a nicotine patch or like hormone creams. Right. So we actually launched, I don't know if you know this, a testosterone boosting patch. And I worked with a, a acupuncturist actually on this formula. I'm very, very excited about it. We took eastern and western herbs to naturally increase testosterone on its own. So no hormones, no exogenous testosterone. These are herbs and these are made for the body to recognize naturally, to boost. So really? Yeah. Without swallowing more supplements or taking hrt, you can try this delivery model that's gentle, it's consistent, it really supports signaling rather than replacing hormones, which I love. And it's just so easy to use. It's a 12 hour patch. It's got different things like saw palmetto, which we love, that is so powerful when it comes to testosterone. And again, it's not synthetic. It's really supportive and it's helping your body do what it's designed to do. So you take that patch, you couple it with some good night's sleep, some good hydration, some stress management, red light therapy. It is a 10 out of 10 wow factor. And I love seeing both men and women implementing this into their life. So here's what I kind of. This is a quick, quick little podcast. It was just on my heart and brain because again, the conversation seems so hyped right now. But I just want you to know, if you feel like you have those symptoms of low testosterone, totally get your blood drawn. Like, absolutely. Why not? If it tells you you have low T, I want to encourage you, start first with lifestyle changes. Okay? Make sure you're getting hydration minerals in your. In your water. Okay. Make sure you're sleeping at night. Get a couple really good night's sleep, work on stress management thought audits. Right? Do some mindset meditations, do some red light therapy, some breath work, Dial in your diet for a few days, get your body moving. I want you to do that and you will. Literally, it'll blow your mind. How good? Feel like you'll be like, I don't. I mean, I bet you most of you, like, I don't think I need to be on hrt. Let's say you're feeling still a little bit off, Give it some more time. And then let's try the transdermal patch. Let's add that to the mix. Do 30 days of that, see how you feel. And honestly, within like a quarter, like three months, and you are just, no, things aren't moving. HRT is incredible, and I'm so grateful for all the options we have. But I just want to say, like, give your body some foundations. Give your body some time and grace. Give your body some love. Breathe life into your body, knowing your body, body was literally designed to heal no matter what age, no matter what stage of life. And that is really just my job as a practitioner to help people understand their bodies before making big decisions. And just I want you to know, like, you deserve options, you deserve clarity, you deserve love. And you really do deserve to, like, feel yourself again.
