Hi everyone, my name is Lorraine and I'm a virtual keynote speaker, and I was also an editor at LinkedIn for 6 years before my current role at Prezi. Today I wanted to share 3 easy ways to help you build credibility on LinkedIn. The first is to make sure that you're asking for and giving recommendations. You'll find this section towards the bottom of your profile. Recommendations show others what it's like to work with you. When you're asking for recommendations, make sure to get really specific. What do you want them to mention? Is it about your empathy as a manager? Is it about your writing skills or your ability to analyze data? For me, I've recently been asking people to leave recommendations about my work as a virtual keynote speaker, and I asked for them to touch on points like how their audience responded and what it was like to work with me leading up to the event. You'll also want to return the favor. So if someone gives you a recommendation, write one back. I've heard people ask if this looks disingenuous because it can seem like maybe you're only saying something good about the other person because they said something good about you. But I don't think this is the case. I think it's a really nice way to show that you had or have a really good working relationship. The next trick to build credibility on LinkedIn is to join groups. Joining groups allows you to meet others who have similar interests as you, or people who are in the same industry. And it's also a great chance for you to jump in on conversations and to make new connections. So this group here is the Remote Workers on LinkedIn group. It's a really popular one on the platform, and I encourage you all to check it out. So to find relevant groups, type in your keyword in the search bar and then click groups. Once you've joined all the groups you want to, you'll want to fill out your featured section. The featured section of your profile is about halfway down your profile, above your activity and about sections. So here you're going to want to highlight what you're most proud of and what you want to be known for. So this can be articles you've published, your personal website, a presentation, your resume, or awards. You can even feature LinkedIn posts and articles as well. As you can see, the LinkedIn platform has so much potential to showcase who you are and what you've done beyond the experience section. And I hope you found these tips helpful. To summarize, to build credibility on LinkedIn, ask for and give recommendations, join groups, and add to your featured section. Thank you so much for watching.
