Hi, I'm Lydia. In 2020, I resigned from my corporate job and took a big leap of faith. I launched a business I had been dreaming about for a long time. I had so many questions when I first started and zero people on my email list, but I was committed to one thing taking massive imperfect action. Within 18 months, I had thousands of students in my courses and coaching programs and was able to retire my husband from his 30 year career to work with me. I'm still pinching myself that we get to run a six figure business while living a life we love. But the truth is this overnight success did not happen overnight. For more than two decades, I let imposter syndrome, fear of failure and perfectionism hold me back from my passions and purpose. What is it that you've been wanting to launch? In the Launch Perspective podcast we share the mindset and the step by step strategies that will help you launch and scale the online business of your dreams so you can live life with more freedom and impact. It's time for a new Perspective. Welcome to the show. Welcome to this episode of Launch Perspective. I am so excited about our guest today because I've had the privilege of working with Brittany Long in a number of ways over the past few years and you are absolutely going to love her. She is an AI powerhouse. I call her my personal AI coach because she has personally coached me. I've been in her program AI to 1 100K. And let me just tell you, if you've just been using Chat GPT, you're going to learn a lot from Britney today. I absolutely love what we're going to talk about in today's episode. It's about building your AI Dream team and I was so honored to have Brittany as our special guest at my Ignite retreat. Ignite is the membership that we have and when we gathered together in Orlando last April, she was our guest speaker.
And when I eventually left after I had my daughter, I went into copywriting and I loved it and I probably could have been a copywriter the rest of my career except ChatGPT came out and I remember that feeling when I was a teacher and knowing that I needed to pivot. And I remember other times in my career where I thought, oh, it'd probably be good to pivot, but I didn't because it felt scary or whatever. But with this moment with looking at ChatGPT, I thought this is going to completely change my business. It was an email marketing agency and we had courses and trainings and all of that and I thought, well, I can either pivot now or I can kind of stick my head in the. Which is honestly what I wanted to do. It would have been the easier route at the time, but I knew ultimately that it was probably the best option for me to pivot. And so I decided to do it. And I, yeah, started learning how to use AI and how to use it effectively for my business and sharing what I was learning with other people.
Well, and I've always loved AI as well, just because as an online marketer, I saw the vision for it very early on, even before ChatGPT came out. But, you know, all of us don't know what we don't know. And what I really appreciate about you is when. When you say you pivoted, you really pivoted because you went all in. You weren't like, I'm not doing this on the surface level. Like, what can this really do for me? How can I help other people utilize this? And I'm just telling you, I have learned so much that we are using every single day to automate. It does so many things that has helped us scale faster, truly. And so I don't think people understand. I think there's a lot of people that are still either, like you said, putting their head in the sand a bit. They're dabbling a little bit. And I just love that you went all in. You're helping the rest of us learn faster because who has time to sit there and learn? I mean, it's changing every single day. So I would love to speak to those people who have kind of been like, well, I dabble, or I know I like ChatGPT, but, like, what am I missing? So I would just love for you to share with everybody. For those who are just kind of doing the basics with AI, what do you. What do you think is really the picture of what's possible for them that would get them excited to dig in a little bit more.
Yeah, I think especially for the person that's listening to this and is feeling overwhelmed or feeling like they have 70,000 things on their plate, but they only have, you know, so many hours in the day, or to the person who's like, well, maybe if I just get up a little bit earlier or stay up a little bit later, then I'll be able to get it all done. I think the truth of it is your to do list will continue to grow. And the problem is that there's other people that have a similar niche to you or similar industry or similar business to you that are willing to embrace AI and I don't say that to scare you, but I think that's just the reality of it, is that we're seeing this gap that's growing pretty exponentially of people who are not using AI effectively versus the people who are and the people who are able to do a lot more, but they also have all this additional time and space and energy to figure out who they are outside of work and to expand their identity beyond. You know, I'm just somebody that is like a machine and works and works and works and works, which is a really beautiful thing. And so if you're like, I'm not really sure what to do from here, where to start, because there's new stuff coming out every day and I don't, I don't know what I don't know. The first thing I usually do is go into ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini and I'll say something like, I'm going to tell you all about my business and I want you to help me identify the ways that you can help me move forward faster. And so I usually tell it my personality, my goals, the things that I've done that worked in the past, the things that I'm doing that are not working my life situation. So things, for example, having a five year old, my life looks different than when I didn't have a five year old. Even going from having an 18 month old to having a five year old, things look so different, even you know, in those two ages or high schooler versus a five year old. And so I give it all of that information so that it can really help me identify. Here's the ways that you can actually be using AI. And I tell it, you know, I'm not really looking for stuff that's cool or interesting. I'm really just looking for like, what's going to help me get more things done, what's going to help me save time, serve my customers better and make more money.
Well, and I will tell you, you are the queen of prompts. And so I have learned so much about how to interact with chat because of the way you have. I know one of the first times I ever met you in person was actually at a retreat. You held on AI and just watching the way you hit that microphone button and talk to ChatGPT, it just opened my world to like, why am I still giving prompts to this thing as if it's an AI tool instead of an actual assistant? And so talking to it like I talked to a person, I really did learn that from you. And I Love that you teach people how to make chat so personal to you that it's just an extension of you. It's not the generic AI that's out there that everyone's super tired of, but it's like your voice, your audience, your, your mission, your passion. It's all those wonderful things. So I love that about you. And so this is the key. So I love that you're even asking AI how to help yourself with AI. Yeah, makes sense when you hear somebody say that, right? But I would love for you to say, give us some examples of like business tasks that most people probably don't even realize AI can do for them.
Yeah. So whenever somebody asks me this, it takes me a minute to think of the answer because it's so integrated into our business at this point I'm like, what doesn't it do? Like it literally does everything. What doesn't it do? And that's something actually that I keep on my laptop also a sticky note that's like, can AI do this for me? And just because it can doesn't mean it has to. For example, I write some of my own emails still because I like it, but not all the time because it's a lot faster if AI does it for me. But yeah, so for me, usually I look through my whole day. So I think, okay, what's the first thing I did today? Second thing, and so on. And whenever somebody's trying to figure out what, how they can kind of add an AI in, I encourage them to do a time study where every 15 minutes they're writing down exactly what they're doing so that they can actually see. Well, first of all, so they can actually see what they're doing. Because a lot of entrepreneurs are like, I'm so tired and I don't know why. And then when we look at their time study, I'm like, oh, this is why. Because you're trying to fit, you know, 2400 things into eight hour shift. And so, but having a timesheet so they can see what they're actually doing. So then if I'm looking at my timesheet, I would say, okay, well, I want to start the day writing. Email helps with that. And then I want to reach out to some people, but I'm not sure who, because it, you know, it needs to be for a presentation. So then it comes up with ideas for me for that using deep research. I have it. I have a presentation or a summit, for example, that's due today. And so my Brittany AI is actually going to record the presentation for me and actually sound like me and look like me and help me create the presentation kind of like a co author would like. I don't for me personally, I want it to be for my brain and my strategy but I don't mind going back and forth with it and kind of having like a co worker or a partner. And so that's kind of how I approach it. So then coming up with ideas for social posts, we have some skits that we're going to be doing here soon and help me write those. We have some other ideas that we have anyway, it helps with all of those. We're going to be doing a retreat soon. So it helped us plan out the retreat and find the location and figure out what to name it and the sales page and the abandoned cart, emails and literally everything. So that's why sometimes I have a hard time.
And that's what I love what you said about this whole AI Dream Team concept which we're going to get into in a minute. But one thing that really stuck out to me, I know you shared a little bit at our Ignite retreat. You were talking about how, you know, how burned out you got in your business one time and just how AI helped you get out of that. And I think that's one of the things I think sometimes people think, well, I'm not going to use AI almost as a badge of honor as I'm going to keep doing everything myself because I want it to be authentic. And I don't think people realize that you can still be authentic and use AI at the same time, but that it isn't a badge of honor to do everything yourself. It's going to keep you from scaling, it's going to make you burned out. So I would love for you to share a little bit about how it helped you when in that moment.
Yeah. So one of the things that took the most, well actually there's two things I would say. One thing that takes the most time for us is like social media posts. And so I thought, well, how can I have AI help me with this? Because I don't want it to not sound like me. I don't want it to be inauthentic. I don't want it to be just like AI Slop. But how can I make this sound like me? And so what we did is we set up an automation. So all I have to do with our social post and is record a four to six minute audio and that usually like in my habit sack, I'll drop my kid off at school. And then I'll. I'll press record and then I'll drive off so I can be hands free and I'll drive to my office. And so just four to six minute minute audio, talking about answer to a question that someone asked me recently, a hot topic about AI that I'm seeing right now, Any of those kind of things. And then from there, literally by the time I get to my office, which is like, I don't know, five minutes away, I have that audio done. And then it also creates Facebook posts, blog posts, Instagram posts, Instagram caption, Instagram real script, YouTube script, LinkedIn article. And there's like two other things that I'm evergreen email. And there's something else that I'm not thinking of right now, but it creates all those things for me before I even get into the office. And so that has been hugely helpful because for me to do all those things manually myself, I mean, the blog post alone would take me probably half the day because I'm slow, slow at blog posts. So that has been hugely helpful. And then I think the other thing's been really helpful is being able to kind of go back and forth with it when I'm stuck or when I am like, man, I want to make money and yet I'm not talking about my offer or and yet I'm not doing, you know, this thing that I know will get me there. And so talking like a mindset coach almost with that. Now I have a mindset coach also, but I still go to, you know, chatgpt too, especially being able to talk out loud to it and go back and forth that way. And I found that there's some things that, like those, those deep things that you don't really want to say out loud sometimes where I'm like, I'm not doing this thing because I'm scared if I do it and it doesn't work out, that it actually confirms this, like deeply held belief, you know, that I, that I have not to get too vulnerable here. But that's kind of where it is for me. I use it for that. And so then when I work through that, then I go to my mindset coach and I'm like, all right, so I work through this. Here's what I'm thinking, here's how I'm feeling about it. But it's like that first step for me to be able to really kind of bare my soul in a way that feels a little bit less vulnerable, but also still gets that out there. So that's kind of another way that I use it to really help me stay out of burnout for the most part and kind of get into a place of taking action without getting stuck.
Yeah. Because I've worked with many entrepreneurs that often come to me and they're like, you know, I did all the things and I worked so hard and I just got burned out. And now I haven't touched my business in a year and all these things and all I can think of is how heartbreaking for them and the people that they could have impacted simply because they didn't have some systems in place and these options now to automate so many things. I learned that whole concept from you where I can just do an audio recording in 10 to 15 minutes of what I really want to share with people and chat does so many amazing things. And obviously the automation system and the flows that you have set up, it's. It's a game changer. It's made such a difference and it makes me excited to go to work every day because so many of us go and we're so overwhelmed by all the things we have to do. But if we have this AI Dream Team, this working for us behind the scenes, you're so much more motivated and just so much ready to show up for people, which is my favorite thing.
And it's like win for everybody. Because the people that you're talking to are getting the results of you being there. Because somebody needs to hear what you have to say and the exact way you have to say it. And so it's great for you because you're making money and you're feeling fulfilled. But it's also great for the people that you are there to help as well.
100%. This AI dream team, which we talked about on the workshop we did together, I'll be giving everybody a link to that replay at the end. But you talked about how the AI Dream Team you've built, which I think there's six members that it replaced, $4,700 a month of paying for freelancers and VAs. Not that we obviously still have team. You have a team of real life humans, but all of the automations that are happening, I know saved you a bit of money because you're right, we can't all go out and hire a person for everything that we need. So can you talk a little bit about how this AI Dream Team looks? What are the six powerful roles that have kind of made such a difference for you?
Yeah, absolutely. So like you said, we still have team members and it's One of those situations where I'm not planning on not having team members, like, these are people that have been with me for four or five, six years, and I want them to continue being with me, and I love working with them.
And.
And in order to move forward, we realized we have to expand. But the problem with expanding is that it's very expensive, or it can be very expensive. And there's a lot of time expense, too, because you're training people, and then if it doesn't work out, you have to let them go and then train new people and all of that. And so for us, we thought, okay, well, what if we created an AI dream team to support the people we have right now, me and my other team members. And so we have a brain clone. And so that's basically. That helps me if I need to basically think of, like, I have decisions that I need to make that aren't necessarily life or death kind of decisions. In my business, having a brain clone is really helpful for that. It kind of helps me get out of decision fatigue and just get answers quickly. It also helps my team be able to essentially consult Brittany AI, who has all my training ideas, things like that. They're able to consult her and then come to me if they need, you know, extra feedback, to essentially consult Brittany AI, who has all my training ideas, things like that. They're able to consult her and then come to me if they need, you know, extra feedback or extra help or something like that. But it gives them faster answers than I'm able to give them. And so we're all able to move more efficiently that way. So that's the brain clone. And then we also have a video and voice clone. And we've actually combined those now to just talk about them as a social clone. Is it looks like you, it sounds like you. And so we use that for a lot of our YouTube videos, podcasts, a lot of my Instagram reels are Britney AI, which is my. My voice and video clone. And then we also have a written clone. So that's any of the kind of messages that you need to write, any of the kind of. What is it called? Like, emails, sales page, things like that, so that it can write in your voice, your language, but you don't have to be the one sitting down and writing that. And you can do that manually. We like to automate that as much as I can, like I said earlier, with the automation I mentioned earlier, and then we have the coach clone. And so that's. We used to call it workload, but that's one of my favorite ones right now. That is basically a clone version of me that my clients and my students get to access where they can ask questions 247 and they get immediate response from Brittany AI who's been trained on all my programs. And so again it's how can we help them get support faster while also not overloading ourselves? Because in the past if you want them to get more support, it was like more one on one time with you. Especially if you have people that are like, I don't really want to go through another course because I don't have time for that. So how can I get the results I want faster? And I'm always looking at how can I help my people get the results, how can I help them get it faster? And that essentially was the solution, was having a coach clown so they can text Brittany AI, they can send Brittany AI a message like just a chat. But it doesn't, it's not a GPT, it doesn't go through a chatgpt. It's like this, this really robust tool that's been trained on all of my stuff. It's really, really cool.
It's amazing. I will tell you. So I have some of those clones already thanks to you. What I learned in AI to 100k your program. But for me personally, the AI written clone has was the biggest one that made a difference not just for me, but for my team because I had trained my chat very well thanks to what I learned from you. And I was writing well. But when you have a team, like you said, physical human people who are helping you create things as well, I always noticed that their emails that they were writing and the social posts they were writing were never quite as good. Well, it wasn't their fault. They didn't have the content. So when I learned that AI written clone from you and I was able to just craft the most amazing GPT, now I'm not the only one that gets to use it. My team does as well. And that was, that was life changing for us. My team especially. They are very thankful for that information.
Yeah, it makes it so much easier for everybody.
It does. So I just love though that you're talking about this AI dream team and all these different clones. So, you know, your brain cone, your cloach clone, those sort of things. So is there one that you feel is the most important? Like what would be one that people should probably think start with?
Yeah, I think probably the brain clone is the one to start with because it just takes a little bit of that decision fatigue off so that you can start to think more like that CEO and less like the. The integrator or the ex. The. I say executioner. That's not the word.
Be the visionary instead of the integrator. Right, thank you.
Not the executioner. Anyway.
That doesn't sound good.
That really helps with kind of getting out of your own head too. And so I think that's probably the easiest one to start with also, because then it's something that you see pretty much immediate results from, because if you have a team, they're being able to, you know, they're able to ask that as well. But then also it immediately takes some load off of you too. So that would probably be the first one I start with. It's also one of the easiest ones to start with too. And we also have a few others that we use. Like I have a health and wellness one where I just check in with it every day. I'm like, here's how I'm feeling today. Here's where I'm at in my cycle. Here's just a list of like, my hips are hurting today or whatever it is. I just kind of go through this list of those things and it just helps me keep track of those things too, which is great. So let's say that I do get sick and I have to go to the doctor because I'm checking in with it daily. I can be like, hey, give me a list of symptoms from the last week. And so it does that. And that's kind of an example too, of how we want the brain clone to work, is that it remembers those things for you, it keeps track of those kind of things. And so whether it's meal planning or health or your business, there's somebody else besides you that, that's holding everything together, basically.
Yeah. And it's, it's allowing you to get it out of your head, right? All the things that you're passionate about, your goals, you know, what, how you like to work. That's what I love. I love that I can talk to my brain clone and be like, like, this is what lights me up during the week. This is what's going to drain me, you know, and, and just really sharing what I want, what my whole vision is, so it can help me break those things down without think about it all. That's what I love. You know, I've always thought of Chat GPT as my brainstorming buddy, from the beginning anyway. But I don't think people understand how much you can really share with it to get it to be so honed in to give you better outputs because the outputs definitely depend on the inputs. So the more you can teach it, the more you can train it. That's definitely something I've learned from you for sure. And so you were talking about the easiest because that's, that's my big thing is I work with a lot of people who tech is not their favorite thing and they, they want to know you. If I'm not techie enough, can I really utilize like the AI strategies you're talking about?
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I think probably the easiest way to do it is to tell it what you want. So I always say, you know, here's the outcome that I want, here's my end goal, what I'm trying to accomplish with this, just like you would talk to a team member or a friend. But here's the end goal, here's what I want to accomplish, here's maybe some obstacles that I might run into, here's some questions that I have. And then you can even say something like ask me the questions to help us get to this outcome or ask me any questions you need so that you have a full picture. And so even if you're like, well, I'm not super techie, I don't know what to ask. You can ask it what to ask and that'll help too. And then the other thing that I do that really makes a big difference with, with everything. Here's the end goal, here's what I want to accomplish, here's maybe some obstacles that I might run into. I'm doing with AI is I give IT feedback. So I don't just take the first thing that comes out. In fact, and here's some questions that I have and then you can even say something like ask me the questions to help us get to this outcome or ask me any questions you need so that you have a full picture. And so even if you're like, well, I'm not super techy, I don't know what to ask, you can ask it what to ask and that'll help too. And then the other thing that I do that really makes a big difference with, with every time I'm having it write an email for me or sales page. I usually spend a few minutes on that first one, especially giving it line by line feedback. I like this because I don't like this because, and sometimes I don't know why I like something or don't like something. It just doesn't feel quite right. I am doing with AI is I give it feedback so I don't just take the first thing that comes out. In fact in those situations I'm like this is meh. Or I'm like ah, it's just not. I just anytime I'm having it write email for me or sales page, I usually spend a few minutes on that first one especially giving it line by line feedback. I like this because I don't like this because. And sometimes I don't know why I like something or don't like something. It just doesn't feel quite right. I don't know, I don't know what it is. It's just hitting, you know, missing the mark. And so I'll give it that feedback and the more specific of course the better. But sometimes you just don't know. And so giving it line by line feedback for that in those situations I'm like this is meh. Or I'm like ah, it's just not. I just at first email or for that first sales page is going to make a huge difference in helping to understand you and how you know you're what you're really looking for. I also give it information on my brand voice and if you're thinking, well I don't know what my brand voice is or I haven't, I don't have any kind of document like that. I don't know, I don't know what it is. It's just hitting, you know, missing the mark. And so I'll give it that feedback and you can share something you've written before that you're like, I really like how this sounds. This really sounds like me. This is how I want it to come across and ask it to identify what that brand voice style is and it'll help you come up with a brand voice document that you can then give it again in the future.
Love it. And so that is where I feel like my, my chat and my GPTs and everything are. They're so much better than they used to be because of the pre work I learned to do from you. So. And that is one of the reasons why I decided invited you to do that workshop with me. So I'm going to go ahead and share the link to the workshop because we still have it on replay and you can get instant access to it@lydia martin.info forward/AI team. Let me just tell you what Brittany shares in that workshop will blow your mind. It will blow your mind. I still hear people talking about like your video clone and things like that that you talked about. On the workshop. And I think it just really opened people's minds to what AI can be for them. And so one of the things I love that you do share is is that constant question of, can AI do this for me or can AI help me do this faster? So with that one question, how has that totally changed your day when you're working?
Yeah, it has made me a lot more efficient and a lot faster. So right now I have between four and five hours a day to do work, and that's it, because that's when my kiddo's at school. And the rest of the time I. Or most of the time of that, I'm on calls, doing presentations, things like that. So the small amount of time that I do have to, like, work on stuff, I really need to make it count. And so by asking myself, can AI do this for me or can it do it this way? Can it do it more effectively for me? Is there a way I can systemize this? Even with AI, it's just made it so much more possible for us to get exponentially more done, even though the amount of time that I have to work is just very little. And so it's been really, really great for that.
Incredible. And I will just say it has helped me build better offers, better copy on my sales pages. I mean, everything has been elevated. And really, it's just helped me in deciding, like, what do I really want in my business? Who do I want to serve? How do I want to show up? And so I just want to encourage everybody. If you have not really jumped into AI or you've just been kind of using it, the basic chatgpt, you got to jump into our workshop. It will absolutely open your mind to what's possible and really just help you not just scale faster, but build without burnout, which is my favorite. It really is. I'm so grateful that we do live in a time. I know sometimes it feels like. Feels scary, it feels overwhelming. But the fact that we have this tool here for us, I mean, to me, it has made such a difference in my business. So is there any one thing that you would love to share with everybody? Just to say, hey, let be encouraged, start here. Is there anything else about AI that you're like, I wish people knew this?
I think I wish people knew that they're still fairly ahead of the game. I know that if you're in the business space especially, you probably hear all about AI, you see all these AI offers, and you may feel really, really behind right now. But the truth of it is compared to the rest of the world, like non entrepreneurs, you're still quite ahead, so give yourself some credit for that. But also, you're going to be able to be so much further ahead if you get started using AI more efficiently now versus waiting until three months from now or six months from now. And I know how tempting it is to say, well, I'll figure it out later. But at this point it's been later. Like now is the time to kind of get started on that. And so, so even if it's just committing to, okay, I'm going to spend 10 minutes a day learning something about AI or I'm going to see how I can apply AI to one thing today. And doing that every day, it's going to make a huge impact on your business and your bottom line. We've definitely seen more revenue because we've used AI and because we've been able to be more efficient. Our offers have been better because we, you know, run it through like, hey, where will my audience get stuck? What misconceptions will they have? What questions will they have? We're able to serve our people better. And so if any of those things are appealing to you, if you want to save more time, if you want to earn more money, if you want to help your people more than AI, learning to use AI is really the next step for you.
I couldn't have said it better. Exactly right. Thank you so much, Brittany, for being on with us today. I hope everyone jumps onto our workshop replay.
