A solo podcast episode by Madison J. (Madison Aldini) arguing that the highest-return investment is investing in yourself — through time, money and energy — and that coaching, masterminds, skill-building, networking and mindset shifts are practical levers to accelerate change. The host emphasizes finding the right peers, using programs as stepping-stones (not silver bullets), balancing learning with implementation, and the idea that "ready" comes after action. Episode closes with encouragement and a CTA to share the podcast.

Foreign. This is Busy Getting Better, the podcast for women who are committed to prioritizing their own personal growth. I'm your host, Madison J. A mindset and money coach, a first generation wealth builder and a woman on a mission to help you master your finances and live your best life. Money is not all we are covering though, because in order to live your best life, you have to become your best self. So we are diving deep into all things personal development and bringing you the mindset shifts, money, tips and inspiration. You need to go out there, be bold, and build the life you can't stop daydreaming about. It's time to get busy, babe. Busy getting better. What is up, babe? Welcome to the podcast. Today, I just really want to have a more casual, candid conversation about really what it takes to go after the life that you can't stop daydreaming about, to become the version of yourself that can step into that reality. And I think sometimes, you know, social media really glamorizes or makes it look like people are accomplishing things very quickly. There's this, you know, mentality of overnight success and how some people just kind of seem like they have it all together and they got there really quickly. And I am about four years into my own personal development journey and I've had the luxury and I've had the opportunity to be in a lot of rooms with a lot of people and have just a lot of conversations about what it takes and what sort of changes people have had to make in their life. And obviously I have had to make a lot of changes in my own life, in my own habits and my own mindset, my own approach to things. And I just think that sometimes we are our own worst enemies. And it can be really easy to sit here and look at somebody online and think that things came really easy to them and that they just have it all figured out. And, you know, it's really easy to make excuses or to make up stories in your head about why you couldn't have that life or why you couldn't accomplish those things. And so I just want to have a conversation around what it takes to build that life and, you know, the type of investment that you need to make into you and into your dream and into your vision and into becoming that version of you. And there's so many different ways that you can invest into yourself. You can invest with time, with money, with energy, and really to make any sort of change and to move the needle and to make that jump and to step into that future. You. You really do need to invest in all those different areas, but I just want to share some different ways that you can really, you know, make some shifts and make some changes in those different components and definitely share with you, you know, what's worked for me, what some, what are some investments that I have made over the years and what investments do I think are the most beneficial to make change quickly? I don't know if quickly is the right word, but just like the most impactful ways that you can make investments into yourself and into your future. So, yeah, I don't really know where, where this is going to go. You know, usually I put together a little outline and today I just feel like somebody needs this message and I hope if you're listening, it's you. And I hope that you're able to give yourself a little bit of grace on this journey that you're on in becoming the best version of you. You obviously would not be listening to this podcast if you weren't someone that identified with knowing that you are meant for more. But knowing that you're meant for more is just the starting step. It's really just the first, you know, moment in your journey and unfortunately a lot of people get stuck at that step. Knowing that you're meant for more is wonderful and you are meant for more. If you have a vision in your mind, if you have a calling on your heart, if you know that there's a message that you want to share that you have from your story, maybe you just don't want all the struggles that you've been through to be for nothing. Maybe you just want to find a way to lead a more purposeful, driven, fulfilling life path. And you don't even know what that looks like yet. That's okay. Knowing that you're meant for more and knowing that you want to do something bigger than what you're doing right now or leading a different life than you are right now is such a wonderful starting spot and I just don't want you to get stuck there because there are so many ways that you can talk yourself out of moving forward in your vision. There's so many ways and so many stories that your brain can make up to make you feel like you aren't worthy of pursuing that vision. And that's not what I want for you. That's not what I want for you. And like I said, I talk to so, so many women. I've, I've had the opportunity to be in so many rooms over the years and have so many behind the scenes conversations and the mindset of you and your life is so crazy impactful into the actions, into the steps that you take in order to start making that vision a reality. And I just want to, I don't know, take the time to say that, you know, there's one investment that you can make in this world that is going to have an unlimited roi. And I'm not talking about gold or a stock that you can pick or a real estate investment or an eft, I don't know, whatever it is that you're thinking of right now. Because the main investment, the most important investment that you can make in your life and the only investment that has the potential for an unlimited roi, an unlimited return on investment, is an investment in, to you, an investment into yourself, into your vision, into your goals, into the future that you want to make. And the more time, money and energy that you can put into you and into your goals, the better off you're gonna be. And I'm not saying that from a standpoint of like, oh my gosh, you need to go invest like all this money into something, but finding ways to pour time, money and energy, because there really is an energy exchange for all of those things into you, into your future and into the vision that you wanna live is so, so, so important. And I just want to make sure that you don't get stuck on the knowing that you're meant for more and not taking a step forward. Because it just can feel really overwhelming at some times when you're just, you're not really sure where to go next or you're not really sure if it's worth it. And so I just want to remind you that if you have this vision, this calling, this thought on your heart, it's because it was meant for you. Because nobody else has the same desires that you do. Nobody else is going to bring the same approach or have the same perspective or the same lessons learned in life that you have had. Nobody's going to be able to perfectly merge and mash up all of your interest in a way that is exciting in the way that you can. I genuinely believe that every single desire that's placed on your heart and every vision that's placed in your mind was there because you are meant to bring it to fruition. And what that also means is that everybody's not going to understand your vision. The people that you are currently surrounded around the network that you are in, the friends, the family members, the coworkers that you have around you right now might not understand the vision that you have Actually, they won't understand the vision that you have because that vision wasn't meant for them. The vision was meant for you, and it was meant for you to figure out how to bring it into the world. And so I think that sometimes if we get really excited about an idea, we might get in the habit of sharing it with the people that are closest to us. And I think sharing your goals and sharing your vision and sharing your aspirations is so important. But you have to make sure that you're sharing them with the right people. Because what happens if you start to get really excited about an idea in a circle of people that might not necessarily understand your, like, dreams or desires or the work ethic or everything that's going to go into making this real? It's so easy for them to shut it down. And it's so easy for when the people around you to not see what your vision is or to get why you might be wanting to spend time and energy into something different than what they're used to seeing. It's really easy for you to just be like, oh, yeah, that was kind of. You're right, that was kind of a stupid idea. Like, I wouldn't spend, you know, I shouldn't spend more time on this. Like, you're right. And that is where a lot of people get stuck is just sharing their ideas with the wrong people, sharing their ambition with people that don't match their ambition or don't match the excitement for what you have. And so one of the most impactful things that you can do, if you're somebody that's sitting there, that knows that you have something else to give another life, another path that you want to go down, and, you know, some sort of passion or mission that you feel called to go through is you've got to find people that get it. You've got to find your people getting in the room with other people that maybe they don't understand your exact vision, but, like, they get what you're feeling is one of the most impactful things I think that you can do, and especially at the early stages of your journey, is you've got to identify if you're even surrounded by the right people. Because what you can do so quickly is either just walk away from your vision because people tell you it's silly, or they don't get it, or you could pour literally gasoline on that vision and bring it to life so fast because you're surrounded by people that are like, hell, yeah, you should definitely do that. And also, I don't think you're thinking about it in a big enough way. When you're able to get into rooms with people that not only think what you're trying to do is extremely possible, but literally inevitable. If you just move forward and show you that what you're thinking is not even like that big of a dream, like, you can start to really expand the way that you think. And I think this is again, it's one of the most impactful things you can do because when you start to get surrounded by people that are already doing what you're doing or already on a similar path or have already completely surpassed the goals that you're after, your brain is really able to start thinking about things from a new way. You're able to start seeing, seeing the possibilities that are out there. You're able to start really thinking like, oh my gosh, this is totally possible. And so whether this is time, money or energy, or again, really, it's going to be a mix of all three of these things. Figuring out who your people are and who you vibe with and how you can start to get expanded in a way of thinking. Because that is so, so, so much of a game changer is getting exposed to how other people think. When you can start to hear how somebody thinks in a way of possibility versus a way of like pessimisticness that is such a game changer for you when you're on the start of your journey. And so for me, ways that I have been able to put myself into other rooms and been able to expand my way of thinking is through masterminds, it's through coaching programs, it's through one on one coaching. I think that there is this mentality that a lot of people have where they feel like they need to figure everything out on their own and they think that, you know, I don't know, you might be thinking this like, I need to prove to myself that I am worthy of being in those rooms or I need to make X amount of progress before I'm willing to go step inside that room with those people and show them that I'm worthy of being in here. Or I need to make some sort of something before I invest money in a coach or in a program or in a course. And you just get trapped in this thought of thinking that you have to figure it all out by yourself. And what I want you to take away from this is that absolutely nobody is doing this by themselves. Every single successful person that I have come in contact with and read about and learned from, every single person is learning from somebody else. Nobody is approaching it from the mentality of like, oh my gosh, if I don't figure it out on my own, then I'm not worthy of the results. And I think when you're at the start of your journey in trying to do something new or do something different, that is kind of the mentality I think I see a lot of people get trapped into is like, I know to prove to myself that I'm worthy, or if I ask for help or if I get guidance or if I lean on a coach, or if I have somebody else give me the idea that I then implement, my results are going to be less worthy. I'm going to be less worthy of the money that comes from it or the recognition that comes from it or whatever. And the constant theme across every single environment I have been in is that other people have played a part in their success and that you would not get, that they wouldn't have gotten to where they're at without the input, without the insights, without the education that other people have. There's this like, famous. I don't know. Famous is the wrong word. There's this common terminology like R and D. Research and development is like what it means in the real world, but in the personal development world, it's like rip off and duplicate. And that's what so many people are doing. And it's not from a negative context. It's really from, let me go learn from the person that's already accomplished what I'm trying to do, and let me figure out how to now implement pieces of that into my own vision and into my own reality. We are so blessed that we live in a time where we have access to so much education, we have access with social media to learn from so many people that have walked the walk or have learned the lessons that we want to try and learn or have built the business or have achieved some sort of milestone in their life. Like, there's so much opportunity out there for you to go and learn from somebody else. And it's not that, like, you're stealing the verbiage or you're stealing everything from this person. I don't want that to be the message at all. But when I say R and D, rip off and duplicate, it's really like, go and learn what these people have already learned and do not reinvent the wheel. Go and learn the foundations and the basics of what people have to teach, and then you get to make it your own. And I think on the flip side of that, where I see people get trapped is they also are like, okay, I'm gonna go, you know, buy everything and invest in all the coaching programs and do, you know, kind of outsource all of my creative thinking or my decision making to everybody else. So that's the flip side of that. And I also think that is also an unhealthy place to get trapped in is like always buying something, always investing in something to outsource everything. There definitely needs to be a middle ground. And if I'm being super transparent, I'm definitely on the side where like, I love to learn. I love to be invested into programs and courses and mentorship because I love to learn. And so this is something I've also, you know, had to go through on my own journey of like, okay, you know, maybe I need to pause on the investments for a little bit and really implement everything that I've learned and just kind of see what I can gain and what kind of creative ideas come to me from my own experiences. And so that's just the other side of it as well. As I see people, you know, not wanting to do any sort of investments or not wanting to outsource, like learning or education because they feel like they have to do it all on their own. And then the flip side of that is feeling like, oh my gosh, I can't do anything on my own. I'm gonna go just learn everything possible from all these other people. And I. What I've landed on is there's just a, there's a middle ground. I think, you know, going to learn from people and, and being able to shorten your knowledge gap is like such a benefit that we have right now. But you also want to be able to stand in your power and know that you are able and capable of doing this stuff on your own. I think the purpose of investing in coaches and mentorships and programs is to gain specific knowledge is one thing, and also to be expanded in a way of thinking and to be in the energy of somebody that can help you see yourself in another light. So coaching is something that I talked a lot about that I've invested in, and again, I've done group coaching and I've done one on one coaching. And I think the power of investing in coaching is that you really get somebody to see you from an unbiased perspective and really be a mirror to your opportunities to grow and to help you obviously stay accountable on the things that you're going to stay accountable on. And so investing in that is another example of something that takes time money and energy, but really does shorten the gap and it helps, helps you get to a place where you stay motivated and you are accountable and you know what you're working towards. And you have somebody that can kind of be a guiding light, that can help you see things from a different perspective and help you feel encouraged and help you feel like it's possible for you, because it is possible. But when you're trying to do everything on your own, it can feel impossible at times. And I. And you don't, you just don't, you don't need to do it all on your own. And so that's what I'm saying when I like again, I've been in all these rooms, I've talked to all these people and I just feel like I've seen such opposite sides of the coins of people's perspective of how they can get to their dreams. And if you are feeling motivated to move towards something, I just don't want you to lose that momentum. I don't want you to lose the fire in that vision by thinking that, you know, all these people just have it figured out and they're doing it on their own because they don't. They're not. Everybody is leaning on each other and everybody is finding ways to expedite their learning curve and also just find people that believe in their vision and find their people that are also working towards what you want to work towards. So I've talked about, you know, investing with time, money or energy. And so I want to just give you some examples of all of these things because they don't all necessarily need to be financial investments. Although I will say there is something so powerful about putting your money where your mouth is. And I think some of the biggest expansions that I have personally had and the biggest like momentum kickstarters that I have had in my business are without a doubt the financial investments that I have made towards my vision and towards the life that I want to live. Because when you are investing money in a course, in a coaching program, in one on one coaching, you are again, you're putting your money where your mouth is. You are signaling to the universe like I am here and I mean business. And I think there is so much power in spending your money in alignment with your vision and your goals. And when you are taking your financial resources in your life and you are spending them in alignment with the vision that you are saying you want to bring into this world, that the universe is going to respond accordingly. You are not going to be like Willy Nilly spending all this money and not. And obviously you have to do the work that goes along with that and not seeing some sort of change in yourself and in your reality and in the way that you're showing up because you are showing the world with this energetic exchange. You're telling the universe like, I mean, fricking business. And so I'm going to share with you, you know, ways that you can invest from an energy and from a time perspective. But I've got to say that some of the biggest changes and the biggest shifts have been like, okay, I'm, I'm serious, I'm going to put some money here and I'm going to shift where my spending's going and I'm going to put it towards my vision and towards my business right now, which is literally everything. Well, right now, everything really, time, money and energy wise is going for my business because I believe in it so much and I'm just so excited to be in this chapter. But in the time leading up to where I was able, able to actually go in full time, it was a lot of those financial investments that got me to that point that I felt comfortable leaving my job and going all in. And even now just still investing in that mentorship, it just expands you and you take it more seriously when you have financial backing behind the things that you're putting your money into. So I've already listed from a finance perspective, like what you can invest time, you know, invest money into, which is courses, education from a group, coaching, one on one, you really like are going to likely need new skills to bring this new vision of yours in. And so being able to spend money on learning those new skills is going to be super important. Other ways that you can invest money, obviously if you are changing your eating habits, if you're trying to get more healthy, investing money into healthier food, organic food, maybe it's a higher level gym membership where it makes you want to show up, it's a better vibe, it's better energy. Maybe it's, you know, one on one personal training. That's something that I've definitely invested in for the last couple years. Hiring a personal trainer to show it more consistent and take my health and take my physical health seriously. So those are different ways that you can invest into the version of you and learning new skills and just being expanded from a financial component and then from a time component. Obviously, as I mentioned, the skill thing is going to be so huge. So taking the time to learn new skills, I actually have a fun fact here. I Don't ever talk about this, but I thought that I wanted to be a real estate agent for a while when I was like deep in my real estate, you know, saga and trying to start a business in the wholesale world. I don't actually think I talk about that either. So maybe I'll have to do another episode on, on that business that I started and ultimately did not succeed in. But I spent time every single day coming home from school to go through the real estate course because I really wanted skills of a real estate agent and ended up getting licensed. So fun fact, I am a licensed real estate agent in the state of Arizona, but I don't practice real estate from an agent perspective. But I did at one point take the time to sit down and learn all of the skills and all of the knowledge that went into that because I thought that it would be beneficial for my business. And so taking time out of your day to carve out a morning routine is a really good way that you can invest in yourself from a time perspective. Taking time out of your day to go on a walk and clear your head. Taking time out of your day to meditate, to read anything that you can do to take time out of your day to pour into yourself or take time out of your day to go to networking events. Go to free networking events in your community, whether it's in person or it's virtual on a call and just get connected and start to pour into people. The people that you surround yourself with, as I said at the beginning, is literally of utmost importance. So finding ways that you can go spend time with these people that are thinking like you want to think or doing what you want to be doing is super important. So find virtual networking calls. Even if you don't have a clear vision for what you want to do. Put yourself in these rooms where you can hear what other people are doing and you're like, oh, that sounds super fricking cool. You can join free challenges on the Internet, right? I Talked about the 75 align challenge that I just joined or I launched. And you know, over 50 women joined that group chat. That's a free way. Now everyone that's in that, if you're listening to this and this is something you feel called to do, find people in these communities that you can send one on one messages to and set up connection calls, set up zoom calls where you can get to know them and their story and their business and what was their journey to get where they're at and what's next for them and how can you help them on that journey. This is such a wonderful free way that you can take time out of your day and out of your week to just move the needle forward and trying to figure out what's next for you that doesn't cost money. And so it's really just the intentionality about how you're spending your time. And if you're sitting there saying that you want a future that looks so different than what you're currently doing, back it up with how you're spending your time. Because there's somebody out there, I don't know who this is. If you're listening and you know who said this, let me know. But they essentially say, like, show me your calendar and I can show you your future. Because how you're spending your time is going to dictate what sort of habits you have, what kind of actions you're taking, who you're surrounded with, what sort of results you're having. So find ways to carve out time in your day, in your week to move the needle and move forward in creating the life that you want to live. And then from an energetic perspective, obviously, once you figure out what you want to work towards, channeling your energy into specific daily activities that are going to help you get there, setting goals that light you up and actually help you move towards the future that you want to have, you need to create actionable goals that help you get there. And so if you're able to set goals that light you up, you're able to carry that energy into those things, that's going to help you move forward too. And you got to think about everything in life really is an energetic exchange, right? So finding things that you can pour your energy into. And what I also want to say is anytime you're showing up to something, any networking event or a call or just literally anything, even sitting down and doing a solitary activity that is moving you towards what you want to be doing, focus on the energy that you are bringing to that. Are you bringing an energy of positivity, of optimism, of. Of being intentional about what you want to get out of something? Are you showing up as your best self? Like, are you showing up for yourself? Are you bringing that level of energy to everything? Because remember what I said at the beginning, nobody is going to understand the goal that you're working towards more than you. Nobody is going to have a fire lit under your. Their butt the way that you are when you're talking about the vision that you have, the life that you want to live, the things that you want to achieve. And so if you are not showing up to every interaction with yourself or with other people, with this excitement and with this positivity, how do you think other people are going to receive it? If you are in, you know, one foot out the door, if you're kind of like, yeah, I don't know, like, I guess we'll see if this is possible. Like, how do you think other people are going to perceive your vision? No, you got to show up with confidence. You got to show up with the belief in what you are trying to accomplish. And the first person that you need to ultimately convince that your dreams and your beliefs are possible is you. And so start figuring out how you're showing up just to yourself from an energetic perspective. Are you doing things like journaling or meditating or just setting an intention for the day or setting an intention going into a new activity, or are you just kind of like seeing what's going to happen? If you're not taking control of the energy behind something, then it's not going to come out the way that you want. Like, intentionality behind things is so important. So if you're sitting down just to do like a journaling exercise or a networking call, or if you're just trying to, like, sit down for a brainstorming time, go into it with the energetic intention of it's going to be fun and you're going to have a great time coming up with ideas and you're going to have a great call or you're going to have a great journaling and you're going to have all these insights and just, just, I don't know, just remembering that, like, the energy that you bring to all of these things is so important. And if you want to have a level of success on the life that you're trying to accomplish, you need to pour into it from an energetic standpoint. And so, yeah, I just think, you know, again, money, energy, and time are really the three things, the three resources that you are going to have to pour into the life that you're trying to create and the goals that you're trying to accomplish. And I just want you to, to understand that it's going to be different levers that you have to pull throughout the time that you are accomplishing these things and understanding that everybody that you see that's accomplished, what you're trying to accomplish is without a doubt pouring all of this time, money, and energy into these things. And you don't have to get there alone. Actually, I don't think you can get There alone. You need people. You need people that match your vibe, that match your dreams, that match the future that you're trying to go after. And I think that you just need to figure out how in your day, in your week and your month, are you able to carve out time right now and depending on what your life looks like. And you know, if you're working a corporate job, if you're not, like, how much freedom do you have in that job? It's going to be as hard as you make it to be. And it doesn't need to be like super dramatic by any means, but like, carving out time to put time, money and energy into your future and into your vision is so important. And I believe in you. Again, you would not be sitting here listening to a podcast called Busy Getting Better if you weren't trying to make action and trying to make change. And again, I just think social media sometimes creates this like, filter of everybody has it together. No, everybody is doing their frickin best. Like everybody is leaning on people, everybody is learning from people and trying to implement and move forward. And nobody's going to believe in your vision the way that you believe in it until they get to see it. And it's your job and it's your responsibility to find a way to bring that vision and to bring the life and the mission and the purpose that you feel in your heart into the world. And everybody is going to benefit from you taking the steps and taking the actions to be able to do that. So again, I said I didn't really know where this message or where this call was going to go. But I've just been in so many conversations with entrepreneurs, with women that are wanting to do something different. And there's just, you know, this belief that everyone got there so easily and that they didn't have to do all this hard work. And I, again, I've been four years into my personal development journey that I made my first financial investment to get into a room where people were thinking differently than me. And the other thing that I want to add into this is that one program is not going to answer all of your questions. I think this is something else that comes up is like, oh, I already invested in something and you know, I didn't get everything I was looking for out of it. You are never going to find one thing, one person, one event, one program, one course that is going to change everything and answer every question you've ever had and be like, this is it. The best way to look at things is like stepping Stones, like if you're called to work with someone or to go to an event or to invest in something or buy a book, like whatever it is, there is something in there for you that was a message and it was supposed to direct you to your next step. And that's how I look at all of the investments that I've made is like I have learned something so beneficial or been connected to somebody so important from every single time, money or energy investment that I've made that have served as stepping stones. And sometimes you can't always see how they all connect until you're looking back. And sometimes you might not ever see how they all connect because it might just be, you know, you getting in a room and then talking to somebody who then refers somebody else behind the scenes. And like, you just never really know how it's connected. It really is like this invisible spider web of dots. But don't go into any sort of investment thinking that like this is the end all, be all I'm supposed to get anything and everything you're supposed to get out of it, what you get out of it. And if it's going to answer a question for you, of, okay, maybe this isn't the path that I want to go. Like, I spent a lot of money in my journey learning about what I did not want to do in my business. And that information is just as valuable as figuring out what I did want to do. Because if I wouldn't have gone down all these routes and figured out all these things that I didn't want to do, I wouldn't be so convicted about where I'm at right now and knowing without a doubt that I am exactly where I'm supposed to be. And if I would have looked at all of those as failed investments, I would have stopped. I wouldn't have kept going. I wouldn't have continued to meet the people that I needed to meet on my journey. So I just want you to think about it like that. If you're like, I've already invested in something, or you're afraid to invest, or you're putting all this pressure on, I need to find the one thing for me that is going to change it all. Breathe a little bit and understand that everything is a stepping stone and everything is redirecting you to where you need to be next. And you are going to gain the insights and the knowledge and the information that you need in this chapter by just following your desires and following what you're feeling called to do and trusting that you're going to get where you need to go, whether it's in this next step or it's, you know, five steps from now. Again, maybe you're just learning a little bit about what you don't want to do from this next interaction that helps you figure out what it is that you do want to do. And you just gotta take that leap of faith. I think there's this other thought that you're gonna wait until you're ready, and that is so backwards. You become ready after you do the investments, after you take the time and the energy to learn the new skill or get connected to a new person. Ready is a lie. You are never going to be ready until you have arrived at that thing. And you can't arrive and actually be ready until. Until you've done all this work. There is no perfect time to start the next chapter. There's no perfect time to make the next investment. There's no perfect time, which is also so beautiful because that means any time is the perfect time to take the next step, to bet on you and to go after that life that you can't stop daydreaming about. So I will leave you with that. I hope this resonates with somebody. I hope somebody out there was looking for and ready to hear this message today. And I'm just wishing you all the best on your journey and I love you all and I will see you next time. Bye. Hey, before you go, I just want to go ahead and say thank you for spending a little bit of your time with me today. And also congratulations for finding a chunk of time to carve out and focus on you and moving the needle and becoming a better version of yourself. If there is anybody that you think could benefit from this podcast, please share it with a friend, share it with a family member.
