A short YouTube monologue by Manu Menon (Founder & CEO of Skillstr) that frames the historical evolution of education—Education 1.0 (elite, teacher-centered), Education 2.0 (mass schooling, classroom systems), and Education 3.0 (technology-enabled classrooms)—and then proposes "Education X0": highly personalized, one-to-one learning journeys enabled by modern technology and platforms. The clip argues that prior waves left untapped potential and positions Education X0 as personalization at scale.

Humans have existed in this very shape and form for hundreds and thousands of years. Yet for most of our history, education as we know it has remained largely unchanged. In the very beginning, we had what is called as education 1.0. Now, 1.0 was a starting point of education, the codification of knowledge. However, it was education for the chosen few, for the privileged. It was still largely teacher centered. Think about the Aristotle's academy, think about the gurukuls, etc. It meets some systems in education. However, it was still only for the chosen few. And after a long time and much struggles, we had the advent of what is called as education 2.0. Now 2.0 unlocked education for the masses. It was education for many. It was underpinned by systems and structure which enabled classroom learning, lectures and the knowledge codification as we know it today. It is what really brought education for everyone. And in the last two decades, underpinned by computing and connectivity, we are seeing what is called as education 3.0. Now 3.0 is starting to show the promise of what technology can do in education by bringing more technology in classrooms. Think about learning management systems, think about smart boards, think about virtual classrooms. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, you could potentially join a classroom. That's what 3.0 did. However, if we really take a step back and ask ourselves, are we doing the most that we can when it comes to technology in education, the answer is a resounding no. This is exactly where education X0 comes in. Now, X0 is about personalization like never before. Imagine a learning journey that's curated to each and every individual in line with their individual strengths and weaknesses. A learning journey that is very much curated, unlike the learning journeys before, which was one too many, but a one on one journey fully enabled by TikTok. That is the promise of education at SP.
