SET A GOAL TO BECOME A MILLIONAIRE (and here's why...)

Marcel Fernandes credits his mentor Jim Rohn for teaching him that becoming a millionaire matters not for the money but for the person you become. The real value is the skills you build: persuasion, communication, sales, marketing, hiring, data analysis. Self-made wealth creates a safety net because you can rebuild it.

Set a goal to become a millionaire and not for the money. This is gonna blow your mind. Let me explain to you. So first of all, I'm here in Dubai, here in my penthouse. If you don't know me, my name is Marcel. I was born in a poor third world country to poor parents, and I became a self-made millionaire in my 20s. And what I want to talk about in this video is setting a goal to become a millionaire not for the money. So what for? What should I set a goal for to become a millionaire if not for the money? So when I was 21 years old, I first met my teacher Jim Rohn. Jim Rohn changed my life. 5 years later, I became a self-made millionaire using and applying and executing his teachings, right? And one thing that Jim Rohn taught me was the following. He said, set our goal to become a millionaire, and let me explain to you why. And you know, the first thought that comes to mind is the man needs— doesn't need to tell me why. Imagine having a million dollars. Wouldn't that be amazing, right? A million dollars, enough zeros to impress your bank account, right? The man doesn't need to tell me why. I know it's a million dollars. Everybody wants to become a millionaire, right? It has a nice ring to it. Millionaire, right? But he said, no, don't set a goal to become a millionaire. Because of the money, because you can give the million dollars away. Set a goal to become a millionaire for what it will make of you to achieve it. Wow. And this is one of the biggest life lessons that Jim Rohn taught me. He said, set a goal to become a millionaire not for the money. The money, you can give it all away. But set a goal to become a millionaire for what it will make of you to achieve it. Wow. Think about that for a second. What a different reason for setting goals. What a whole new perspective on setting goals for what it will make of you to achieve it. Not the money. The money, you can give it away. And if you give all your money away and you made a million dollars or you lost it all— let's say you make a million dollars and you lose it all. You know what the good thing is? You only lost about 10% of your assets. If you make the money yourself, self-made, and then you lose it all, you only lost about 10%, right? Now, people that inherit all the money, and if they lose it all, they've probably lost it all. They've probably lost 90%, 100% of what they have. Why? Because they didn't earn it, they just got it. They didn't build the value enough to generate that million dollars, right? But if you accumulate $1 million for yourself, self-made, and you lose it all or you give it all away, you've only lost about 10% of your assets. Why is that? Because 90% is what you've become to achieve that, the skills you had to develop, the person you had to become in order to achieve that goal of $1 million. Wow, what a whole new reason for setting goals. Set a goal that will make you stretch that far. Set a goal that will make you somebody to achieve it, that will turn you into a completely different person. If you ask me, Marcel, at 21 years old, I was a completely different person at 21 years old than I was now, than I am now. Completely different person. My mind has changed, my skills have changed, everything has changed for me. I became a completely different person because I decided that one day to set a goal that will stretch me that far And I followed everything that my teacher Jim Rohn taught me, and I became a self-made millionaire 5 years later after my teacher Jim Rohn taught me the things I needed to do. So set a goal that will make you stretch that far to become a millionaire, right? Because if you think about it, what are the things that you need in order to become a millionaire, right? What type of person do you need to become? The skills you need to develop, right? Persuasion skills, communication skills. Financial skills, sales skills, marketing skills, right? Organization skills, hiring skills, recruitment skills, right? Training skills, you know, data analysis skills. There's just so many things that you need to learn in order to become a person that attracts a million dollars. Because it's like Jim Rohn says, the life you have right now, you've attracted by the person you've become. The life you have now, you've attracted by the person you've become. And the beauty of life is that you can have more that you have now because you can become more than you are now. Wow, isn't that amazing? So you can have more than you have now because you can become more than you currently are. Wow, that's one of the biggest life lessons that I learned from my teacher Jim Rohn. So set a goal to become a millionaire, and not for the money, but for what it will make of you to achieve it. And, and when you set your goals, right, out of all the goals you set, set a goal to become a millionaire. But all the other goals that you set, also set goals that will make you something to achieve it, will make something of you to achieve that goal. Don't set goals too small, right? The guy says, well, I don't need much. Well, then you don't need to become much. Right? In order to achieve your goals, set them higher so that it will make something of you to achieve it, so that you'll grow, you'll develop, you'll change, you'll become wiser and stronger and better. You'll develop new skills, you'll become more valuable to the marketplace. And then once you get $1 million, you can give it all away because what matters isn't the money, but what matters is the person you've become in order to achieve that money. Isn't that fantastic? I learned that from my teacher, Jim Rohn, just about when I was 21. Changed my life completely. Changed it all around. Gave me a whole new perspective on setting goals. And that's what I do till this day. So think about that. In order to become a millionaire, you must generate extreme value to the marketplace because that's how money is generated. When you generate value to the marketplace by creating businesses, by working for other businesses, by solving problems that a group of people have. That is also known as generating value to the marketplace, or in macroeconomics, that means reciprocal altruism, right? The economic term for making money is, you know, reciprocal altruism. So think about that in, in this different perspective right now, right? Set goals to— for what it will make of you to achieve it. That's fascinating. So set goals that'll make you stretch that far, develop new skills, become wiser and stronger and better. That life lesson changed my life every way. So this is the video today. And, um, yeah, let me know in the comment section what else would you like to see from this channel. Let me know if you like this video and let me know what else you would like to see. Um, I just love sharing, uh, you know, I learned from my teacher Jim Rohn that we must share, right? For example, if you have a cup and it's full of water, can you possibly pour more water in? And the answer is, of course. And how do you pour more water in? You You have to pour what's already in out. Then once you pour out, you can pour more water in. And so when you share your knowledge and wisdom— that's what I'm doing right now with you here on YouTube— when you share what you've learned, when you share how you've grown, when you share your skills, your knowledge, your wisdom, how you became wiser and stronger and better, how you achieved your goals, ideas and inspiration, when you share, share, share, communicate with people, you are dumping your cup and you can fill it up with more water. And the beautiful thing about the human condition is that if you share, your cup gets bigger, and then you can pour more in, more in, more in, and then you can share some more, and then your cup gets bigger once more. So this is what I'm doing here with you today. I'm sharing because once you overflow your cup, you start sharing it with other people And then your cup gets bigger and you can take more in, more in, more in. So that's the video for today. I hope you liked it and I'll see you in the next one.
