First up, the long awaited unified GCC tourist visa is finally nearing launch. Once live, travelers will be able to visit all six Gulf Cooperation Council, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE using just one visa. First announced in 2023 and officially approved in late 2024, the scheme aims to promote seamless cross border tourism, much like the Schengen model in Europe. Ministers say this could allow visitors to stay for up to 30 days across the region, encouraging multi country itineraries and boosting hotel occupancy. Tourism leaders hope the unified approach will reduce travel friction and help the GCC region meet its ambitious goal of welcoming nearly 129 million visitors by 2030. Meanwhile, a new opinion piece from Accenture outlines how travel companies can build greater resilience amid economic and operational uncertainty. As global consumers grow more cautious with spending and operational costs rise, businesses must move beyond reactive cost cutting. Accenture recommends a four part strengthen operational agility through tools like Digital Twins, adopt AI for smarter commercial decisions, support workforce well being with real time sentiment tracking and invest in autonomous AI agents to future proof operations. The emphasis is travel brands that adapt digitally and humanely will be best placed to weather the next wave of disruption.
