First up, Airbnb is experimenting with a new feature called Reserve Now, Pay later for guests in the US and Canada, allowing eligible users to book a stay without paying anything upfront. Unlike previous options that required full or partial payment at the time of booking, this test lets guests secure accommodations and defer payment until a specified future date, which is outlined clearly during checkout. If payment isn't completed by that deadline, the reservation will be canceled. The move is Airbnb's answer to growing consumer demand for affordability and flexibility. While not as lenient as hotel pay at arrival models, it's a notable shift toward a more hotel like booking experience for hosts. Little changes if a guest fails to pay, cancellation policies still apply and payouts remain consistent. Though unannounced publicly, the feature signals Airbnb's intent to remain competitive and guest centric, especially in a landscape where booking terms can influence traveler decision making. Meanwhile, Stay Savvy is taking post booking anxiety off travelers shoulders with its AI powered hotel savings tool. Founded in Tallinn earlier this year, the platform monitors hotel prices after a guest has booked, and if the rate drops, it automatically rebooks the reservation at the lower price. The startup earns revenue only when guests save money, and it's designed to integrate with OTAs, hotel booking engines and corporate travel platforms. Stay Savvy is addressing one of the most persistent pain points in hotel booking price drop regret. By transforming fluctuating rates from a liability to into an advantage. On the industry side, it promises fewer support tickets, reduced refund requests and stronger guest loyalty. With a model akin to Honey for Travel, Stay Savvy offers both a B2C solution for individual travelers and a plug and play option for businesses looking to enhance their value proposition. As dynamic pricing becomes the norm, Stay Savvy's approach could fundamentally change how hotels and guests engage with price transparency and post booking confidence.
