Welcome to the Boost Hospitality podcast. My name is Mark Simpson and this is season five. In this season, I'm going to show you how to run the perfect Facebook competition. I've been doing this training and this formula for the past three years now, and every single time that I have run it within the Boostly community, it has had fantastic results. Hospitality owners have increased their direct bookings. They've gained over a thousand likes. That means more eyes are on their business and there's more people talking about it on online as well. I'm going to show you the step by step, day by day instructions on what you need to do to not only run the perfect Facebook competition, but how you can get bookings on the back of it. So all you need to do to take part, go to www.boostly.co.uk Facebook and I will send you step by step video tutorials to back up the audio that I am going to send you, as well as some bonus material. So it's www.boostly.co.uk forward/facebook to join in. I welcome back. If you are tuning and joining in on this competition training live, you know that now it is Wednesday 26th September. We are now rocking into 48 hours since the competition has gone live and hopefully because of the actions that you have taken, you are getting lots of people interacting with your competition. Now, if you aren't, never fear. What I'm going to show you today will be a massive help. And get this in front of the right people and the right audience. Remember, back to Monday. And I said one of the best ways to get people seeing your prize is by sharing into Competition groups between 3 and 5. What I recommend you do is that for every day that we're doing this competition, you do that every day. So set an alarm on your phone for whatever time, whatever's best for you. Takes literally five to 10 minutes to share in three to five groups. All you're doing is hitting the share button, post, writing something, posting it, writing something, posting it, and you've got the groups that you know that like competitions, they let you post once every 24 hours. So that is fine. Go and share post three to five a day, and that's your homework done. So simple. If you want to get this out to even more people today, I'm going to show you Facebook ads. Now, if you want to get the video tutorial for this, which I do recommend, make sure you go and check out booster.co.uk Facebook go and check the guide that I sent you Go and check the Dropbox folder that I sent you because there's a video in there that will really help with this. What Facebook want is that when you spend money with them that you just use it to put in front of people who like your page. What I'm going to show you by taking a little bit extra time and by going to your what's called your Power Editor, you can create an audience that you can put your advert in front of. Now there's ways and means and there's reasons why this is really popular. But one of the first things that I want for you to do, go to your facebook.com in the top right hand corner there's a little drop down. You click on that, scroll down, there'll be two options. Create ads or Manage Ads. What I want for you to do is to click on Create Ads. It will load up a brand new page. It's what's called your Power Editor. Ads Manager is another word that gets used. On the top there's options. You click the little hamburger link, the three lines that look like the Adidas symbol and it opens up so many different little sub options that you can choose. Go to Audience Insights when it loads up. What I want for you to do is to get rid of United States for the location and I want you to change that to the United Kingdom. Now what you're able to do with this is you're able to find an audience that would like your page because of the interest. So for example, if you're a farm, stay property and you want to put your ad and your competition in front of families that like going to stay on farms or you know, got children that's interested in farms, you go to the demographics, you go to the interests and just put in farm. And then when it goes to the person that you're going to target, you can put in interests and behaviors and behaviors would be is a parent and you can even filter that even more to parents of 3 to 5 year olds, 6 to 8 year olds, etc. Etc. Instead of going for the whole of the United Kingdom, what I like to do is I like to find out where the majority of my customers are from. So one of the things that I've been doing for the last five years is at the end of every year we look to see where people are booking from the towns, where they live, etc. And we worked out that 80% of our guests were coming from 20% of locations and that was Leeds, York, Newcastle, Doncaster. We're based in Scarborough So what I do is I put my ad in Leeds, Doncaster, in our most popular areas because that's where we know where people come from. Obviously we're in the north east of the uk. We don't get many people from Torquay or Devon or Cornwall. The same, we don't really get many people from Brighton. The majority of our guests are from a two to three hour car journey away. So that's what I mean about working out your ideal customer, working out where the majority of your customers are from. And that's where we put our ads to. Obviously we're a farmstay property, we're based in Scarborough. So for the interest I put farms, people who are interested in farms, you know, animals, people are parents, because it's a very family friendly property. And I also put interest of Scarborough. So that means anybody that's been to Scarborough in the last three to six months, the ad will be put in front of them. The reason why you're going to do this and you're going to boost your competition post is because Facebook and posts that get more engagement and more visibility are the ones that have already got traction on it. So because we do this 48 hours later and not straight away, is that we're giving your post 48 hours to get likes and comments and shares. So by this point, if you've got more than 20 or 30 likes, comments and shares, then that post, and again, we're talking about pattern disrupt, it'll be more likely to be engaged with. So all that I do is I set that audience, I save it as competition and when I hit on boost post in the audience section, it will go like your page. People who like your page, people who like your page and your friends and the audience that you've created. So instantly what you're doing there is, is you're stopping Facebook getting what they want. They want you to waste money by clicking on people who like your page and you're fine tuning it and putting a competition in front of people who would like your property. And they're more likely to interact because it's a competition. So that's today's task. Really, really simple. Number one, share the post into competition groups between three and five. Number two, set up your audience. Number three, pay for 24 to 48 hours of boost to two days. If you do £6, that's the minimum. Get it in, get it done. Once you've done that, let me know. Email markously.co.uk, let me know when you've done the competition. Or even better, go into the hospitality community and post that you've done this. All right, Good luck. And the next time you hear from me, I'm going to let you know the next step to keep getting more engagement on your competition.
