Welcome to the Boost hospitality podcast. My name is Mark Simpson and this is season five. In this season, I'm going to show you how to run the perfect Facebook competition. I've been doing this training and this formula for the past three years now, and every single time that I have run it within the Boostly community, it has had fantastic results. Hospitality owners have increased their direct bookings. They've gained over a thousand likes. That means more eyes are on their business and there's more people talking about it on online as well. I'm going to show you the step by step, day by day instructions on what you need to do to not only run the perfect Facebook competition, but how you can get bookings on the back of it. So all you need to do to take part, go to www.boostly.co.uk Facebook and I will send you step by step video tutorials to back up the audio that I am going to send you, as well as some bonus material. So it's www.boostly.co.uk forward/facebook to join in. Okay, we made it. Congratulations. It is Wednesday, October 3rd, and we are going to finish off this competition. The first thing that I'm going to show you or explain to you is give you three options on how to pick a winner of your competition. And then I'm going to end with how you can make bookings, direct bookings on the back of it. So when it comes to it, you've got three options. Number one, if you want to have the simplest way out, the easiest way of doing it, go to a website called fanpage karma.com Facebook promotion or just Google Fanpage Karma Facebook. What it will do is it will ask you for the URL. So the web address of your competition post on Facebook, you just copy, paste it in to their website and what that will do is that will pick out your winner for you. It's totally done by random, 100% fair, legit, and like I said, you can use that. Put it in your T's and C's, that's how you drew your winner. I mentioned that during the competition, if they entered a magic word, then they get two names into the hat. Now, what you want to do, if you really want to do this, and it's totally up to you, if you want to reward the people that went the extra, extra distance to put their extra name into the hat, you can filter down the competition results by anybody that mentioned that magic word. So if you look down on fan page Karma, you can filter the winner by comment so in the comment section, if you put the magic word, which for example for yourself, if it was bug direct or fami, then what you do then is it will pick anybody that's mentioned the word bug direct. It's totally option, it's totally up to you whether you do that. I'm not saying which one's right or wrong, but that's number one, that's the easiest way out. Number two takes a little bit more time and it involves a website called random.org. so what you do is you tally up all of your likes, all of your comments, all of your shares, all of the second chances and just basically tally it all up and you got your number. So if you've got a thousand people have entered, it means you put a thousand in to random.org one to a thousand. And what random.org will do is it will give you a number between one and a thousand. And then simply all you do is you open up the comments in the lightbox and you just count down, count down fairly. You know, say that it is 800, just count all the way down to 800. It will take a bit of time, your eyes may start to bleed, but by the time you get to it, you will have your winner. The third option, and this is the most time consuming one, but this is the one that will have a massive impact on Facebook reach, would be you take all the entries, the likes, the comments, the shares, the second chances, take all of the names, write it out or put it into an Excel sheet, print it out, cut the pieces of paper up and put it into a hat. And what you do is you go live on Facebook and draw the winner out of the hat. What this will do, this will make your engagement go crazy because you can put on the post, say that we're going to be announcing the competition winner live at 11am make sure you check back here, watch it live and when you do go live on Facebook, you can make a full song and dance about it. You know, you can talk about the property, you can talk about bookings, etc. And you can really get the engagement going. That's the most time consuming one. And again, if you want to go see examples, go gettobooster.co.uk Facebook Go to the Dropbox folder and look at examples that we've done. I'm going to leave it to you which one you decide, but here's what you do next. So you've got the winner. All right, before you go announcing it to the world, what you're going to do is you're going to set up your chatbot or you're going to set up your mailchimp, whichever one you choose, or both, to send an email out announcing that the winner has been announced on your Facebook page to go check it out and to thank everybody for entering. This is what we're called, giving them the consolation prize. So between now and when you do this, think of a special offer that you want to give to the people that have entered. So it could be book two nights, get a third night free. It could be save 20% when you book with us directly. It could be get an early check in, get an extra bottle of wine or whatever, insert incentive, try and think of an exclusive special offer that's nowhere else out there. Now what you're going to do is everybody that has subscribed to your chatbot, you can put this in a direct message into their inbox. Anybody who subscribed to your email list, you can send them this email. And the wording would go sort of along the lines of thank you so much for entering a competition. We've just announced a winner. It's currently on our Facebook page. We just wanted to say thank you to everyone who took part in time and entering a competition and supporting a local business. We want to do a very special offer that is limited to time, 24 hours or five. So you put a number on it. So you want to. It's really important here that you put in the fear of loss, whether it's a time element or whether it's for the first five people the, the, the, the consolation prize or for the first five people that message us who, who want to come and stay with us, you get a very special offer of book two nights, get a third free set, insert your consolation prize special offer in, in there and send it off. So post out on the chat bot with the broadcast button or send it out in an email. This will go directly into their inbox. They will see it. And because at this stage of a competition, they know about you, they've clicked on your website. They think, you know what I really could do with a holiday? They're thinking, I want to go book. They get that special offer in front of them. It just. And you put the fear of loss element into it, you're more likely to get a booking, turn a looker into a booker than if you just end the competition and say thank you. We've done this method and this process over the last three years and it has worked like crazy. We've had over £10,000 worth of bookings in one week from a couple of our Boostly alumni. So I would love it if you could share with me your results. Do this method. If you want to see live examples, go into the hospitality community and I will share it all there. I'll share my screen on what I did to do this. And also what I want for you to do is to go into the hospitality community and post up your results. Let us know how many new followers you have, let us know how many new likes, let us know how many new subscribers you have, and most importantly, let me know how many new bookings have come on the back of it. This has been a very, very special season. It's the first time I've done something like this where it's a live training. If you're watching this in the future and you missed the two week training that we did, you can still go back and take part and post it in your own time. Go to booster.co.uk Facebook and what I'd love for you to do, download it, check out the Dropbox folder, watch it in day order and put an interaction. But when you do, please let me know how you get on. Finally, if you've enjoyed this mini series, I would really appreciate if you could go and leave a review on itunes or wherever you listen to this podcast from. I want to make this the biggest hospitality podcast out there, but to do that I need your help. I've been told by the powers that be to get seen higher in the charts, you need to get reviews. So if you've been watching this, if you've taken part in this, if you've appreciated this, then I would love it if you could just take two minutes out of your time to go and leave a review. Thank you so much for listening. I will be back in the future with season six of the Boost Hospitality podcast.
