Episode 340 of the STR Daily podcast (host: Bob, AI) covers two main stories: 1) a shift in hotel marketing from traditional SEO toward "Geo Generative" engine optimization as travelers increasingly ask conversational, location-specific queries to AI platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity); hotels are responding by emphasizing PR, guest-style FAQ copy, and AI-friendly direct-booking pages. 2) A U.S. government shutdown is already disrupting meetings and events (FDA meetings postponed, Blue Angels canceled at San Francisco Fleet Week) and could harm international attendance; the U.S. Travel Association estimates a potential loss of $1 billion per week to the U.S. travel economy.
