Now let's dive in to Paris Luxury Hotels Thrive during the Olympics Paris recently enjoyed a significant boost in tourism thanks to the Olympic Games, particularly benefiting the city's luxury and high end hotels. From July 23 to August 6, the occupancy rate for luxury hotels in the greater Paris area surged to 85.5%, a notable increase of 16.5 percentage points compared to last year. Inner Paris also saw strong occupancy rates at 84%, up 10.1 percentage points. The Olympics attracted around 11.2 million visitors to Paris with 3.1 million staying overnight, including 1.7 million international guests. The US led as the top international source market with 230,000 visitors, followed by Germany with 130,000. However, while the Games brought a temporary boost, the overall summer tourism numbers in Paris remained flat compared to last year. Many tourists avoided the city during July and August due to congestion, higher prices and increased tourist taxes related to the Olympics. Businesses like Disneyland Paris and local tour operators were reported a significant drop in attendance and revenue during these months, highlighting the mixed impact of such a large scale event on the local economy. In other news Home2go's strong Q2 performance amid market uncertainty Vacation rental marketplace HomeToogo reported a strong performance in the second quarter of 2024, with booking revenues reaching $64 million, a 27% increase year over year. This marks a new Q2 high for the company, driven by the consolidation of acquisitions and growth in its marketplace business. Home to Go's half year booking revenues also grew by 27%, hitting $147 million. Group revenue for the first half of 2024 rose by 38% to 89 million, with adjusted EBITDA improving by nearly 19%. The company's marketplace business saw a 47% increase in revenue, while on site booking revenues more than doubled. Despite these gains, Home2Go's CEO Patrick Andre acknowledged some signs of softening in the vacation rental market. However, he emphasized that the company's diverse revenue streams, including its subscription and service solutions, help mitigate these challenges. Home to Go remains optimistic, reiterating its full year guidance of $250 million in booking revenues up 30% year over year. That's all for today's episode of STR Daily powered by Boostly.
