This is why you should never have a free website from your PMS provider for your Short Stay Accommodation Business
29 Jul 2022 · 6 min
Mark Simpson explains why free websites from property management systems hurt short-stay rental bookings. He uses a car analogy: your website is the body that attracts guests, your PMS is the engine that processes them. Boostly's WordPress sites with custom API integration have helped over 1,000 hosts capture more direct bookings.

Why your website is the most important part of your direct booking marketing. So my name is Mike Simpson. Who am I? If this is the first time you've come across here, thank you and welcome to join in, be part of the Boostly community. Hit the thumbs up, subscribe and you'll get more videos. If you're looking for help when it comes to direct bookings, there's almost 500 podcast episodes to get caught up on. Head to boostly.co.uk podcast now. Why am I someone to talk about websites? Well, I, I founded the Boostly website agency with Tom o' Brien based out in Bali. Everybody will know Tom, who's got a Boostly website back in 2018. And since then we have helped over 1000 hosts and property management companies all around the world get a website they can be proud of. We have looked and delved into the current trends and surveys and stats. We know what works. And this is what I want to record this video about. Because when we jump on a call, so we have about 20 or 30 phone calls every single week with hosts who are interested with working with Boostly. And I always say to people when we're going to get on a call, it's as much as you think current figuring out if Boostly is right for you, but it's also if you're right for us, if we do a website with you, because this is a project that we want to come on board of and we want to be your website provider forever, okay? But you've got to come into it with the right expectations and a lot.
Of people go, well, I've already got.
A website or I've got a free website with my property management software pms or I've got a wix, or I've got a website, okay? And they say, well, why do I need Boostly? And this is the analogy that I've been given and it works pretty well. So I want to explain it here and now so that when anybody books a call, I can just send them this so that question can be answered before we even jump on the phone. You've got to look at your website in the terms of marketing as a car, okay? So you've got the car body and a really fancy car. Imagine the most beautiful and the sort of best looking car that you can think of right now, wherever that may be. And that attracts the attention, that attracts the look, that attracts that, oh, that looks like a nice car, okay? And that is what a website is in the process is to grab the attention, okay? So it's bringing the people in and getting people looking at it going. That is a really nice car. I would like to drive that, I would like to stay there. If you're going to think of it in hospitality, okay? The pms, the property management software, so guesty, hostaway, hostfully uplifting, Zevo, Toki, Avivo, there's tons and tons and tons of them. That is the engine that powers everything in the background. So a website should never be in control of communicating your bookings to booking.com and Airbnb and all that jazz. The PMS should never be in charge of attracting lookers, okay? Should never be the shinier body, okay? They've got very distinct roles in this. And the problem when you use a free website that comes with your guestie, your hostaway, etc is that it is a shit looking car body and it doesn't attract lookers, it doesn't get people checking it out and if they, for whatever reason look at it or quickly look away because it doesn't look good and it doesn't work. And this is why we started doing websites and this is why we've created the new API technology which sets us out from everybody. Nobody can copy this because nobody's dumb enough to go down this route is because our websites now, they look amazing. They do everything that what we know that a guest is looking for. But also the most important part, which is sending that book in to the pms, which is a very important part, we've created a technology that links it all together, that makes it smoother, streamline and that there is no disruption. You could call us the electric, the hybrid to whatever cars are going to be in the future. We have created that and this is why it's really, really important when we say this is what separates boostly websites from everybody else. So you can have a WordPress website, which is key, a WordPress website, which you can have all the tools and all the fancy things to put things in place, like real time reviews, chatbots, all of the amazing tools. That's just one or two. But to make sure that your website runs smooth, it looks amazing and it is designed to be a mousetrap to attach them in and then when they make the booking, it then goes to the PMS that drives it and powers everything behind the scenes, the business behind the scenes.
And again, if you have got a.
WordPress website now, but you have not got that special API technology that connects it to your pms, then your car is at a disadvantage to others. We are future proof in the game here for hospitality owners with what we have created created. And this is why it's so important that everybody gets into this right mindset. So you've got to start to look at your business, at your marketing, your direct booking website, your PMS as two total separate entities. The car would not go without the engine, but the engine without a nice looking car body would not grab the attention and that's how you meant to do it. So if you want to find out more about Boostly websites, just go to boostly.co.uk website. Go ahead. We've got two different offerings, we've got one to three properties and we've got four plus properties. We've got different website solutions to cater for all business types and needs.
