Hi there, Mark Wickersham here. And in this session I want to share with you some powerful tips about webinars. Have you ever run a webinar? If you haven't, it's time to get started. Because webinars are so powerful. And the first thing I want to talk about in this session is should you run webinars live or pre recorded? There's some powerful software that allows you to create a webinar as a video and then you can run it on any schedule you like, for example, every single week. And people can log in, they can watch the webinar and it feels live. It's a powerful concept and it has a lot of appeal. However, the one problem I have found myself and other people have done the same research is that with a live webinar you get a much greater conversion rate than a pre recorded one. Even though pre recorded ones feel live conversion rates are significantly lower. So my first tip for you, if you're going to run webinars, I would recommend that you run them live, because whatever offer you then make, you can create that sense of urgency and that sense of scarcity. It may be, for example, what you want them to do at the end of it is to book a meeting with you and it may be that you open up your calendar to just six meetings. It's the first six people that respond. That doesn't work very well if it's a pre recorded webinar that repeats every week. So live is always better. And the second idea I want to talk about is when we think Webinar, we think PowerPoint slides and voice. And whilst there's nothing wrong with that, what I found over the years is that you get a much higher engagement and consequently, consequently a better result, a better conversion rate if you talk using to the camera, using a webcam. And there's two advantages with that. Firstly, the big advantage is the higher engagement, the better conversion rate. And by the way, some people call this a live cast instead or webcast, but it's the same technology. The only difference is you're using a Webcam rather than PowerPoint slides.
The second big advantage I found of doing this, not only is it more engaging from the audience's point of view, as a result, people stay longer, more people buy, but also it just saves a ton of time. Let me explain what I mean. If you do a conventional webinar with slides, you need to make sure that something changes on the screen every 20 seconds, otherwise people lose interest if all they can hear is your voice. And a static slide, people lose interest. So so you have to Change something every 20 seconds. That means either a new slide or a transition of some sort. So if it's slides, that means for a 60 minute webinar you need 180 slides. That takes at least a good day to create the PowerPoint slides for a webinar. Now I don't know about you, I haven't got the time to waste a day writing PowerPoint slides. So what I do in all my webinars I just use a webcam and sometimes I'll show something on the screen. If I want to show something, I don't use slides. So that's my second big tip. If you want to get into webinars, use a webcam. It's much easier and you'll get better results.
