There are so many deceptive games that happen in healthcare and they are designed to take more of your money than they should. Let me just give you one example. I went to my orthopedic specialist and he prescribed me this bottle right here of a drug called Vimovo. Vimovo is a specialty drug and it sounds really sophisticated until you actually look at the ingredients. Vimovo is actually just a combination of two over the counter medications, Leave and Nexium. You could go down to your local drugstore and you could buy those two over the counter drugs for about 20 or $30. Well, Vimovo, because Horizon Pharmaceuticals made this into a specialty drug, charged my health plan about $3,000 for this bottle of Vimovo. More than 100 times what it would cost if I went to my drugstore. Thankfully, my health plan rejected that claim and and now I'm here to warn you about it. But did you know that Vimovo has brought in more than half a billion dollars from employer sponsored health plans? So a lot of people have been falling for it. Folks, you have got to be on the lookout to protect your health care dollars. There is a system in place to take more of your money than it should. It's not fair and it's extremely deceptive.
