A short YouTube monologue by Mary Kostka (owner/founder of Ohana OT) advising clinicians to always give clients a new, simple, achievable homework assignment after sessions so clients have clear next steps and make continuous progress. Emphasis is on keeping tasks small and follow-up to track success.
Aloha. Mary Koska here, owner and founder of Ohana OT and we are talking about the 11 points of value, things that add value to your session, make it even worth more than what they're paying. And this particular point is going to be that we always want to give them something new to focus on, or they may be repeating the same thing for another week. But overall, we want to make sure they have kind of an assignment, some homework, something to focus on. Keeping it simple, something that it's easy to get done, that they can succeed at, is really important. They need to know always what the next steps are, what the next little bit of progress might be. So just giving them a little small assignment, something that you're going to follow up on later, is really important. Aloha.
