A short single-speaker video segment advising staff to notify parents (and the child) about small improvements observed during each session. The speaker recommends writing a positive highlight on the daily home sheet (e.g., longer ‘superman’, more complex obstacle course, recovery from a meltdown) to reinforce progress and keep focus on the positive.
Hey, my awesome staff. This video, we're going to talk about one of my favorite things, and that is notifying the parents of their child's improvement. And the child, too. It is something that I think is so important. Every single session, we should be pointing out something that we're seeing some little baby step forward and letting them know about it. And we have in our little daily sheet that we. Our little paper that we send home with them, it says highlight and. Or homework. And so on that little sheet, I really like to put something on there that was really special about the session. So if you. It could be that they did their superman a little longer, or that they stepped it up and did a more complex obstacle course, or that they followed a certain number of steps to complete a task, or that they met certain goals, or that they had a great attitude. Anything. Anything you can pull out of that session, no matter how rough it was, if it was a rough one, know, maybe they recovered from a meltdown. Anything that you can pull out that's positive. Our parents don't hear a lot of positive things about their kids, so it's so important to take something out of the session. Let them see how you're seeing their child improve and verbally tell them and write it down. And that is just, I think, one of the best things we can do. It helps things to keep moving forward and keeps us focused on the positive. Aloha.
