A short, 2018 video message from Mary Kostka, owner/founder of Ohana OT, announcing an open Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) position at her pediatric clinics in Washington state (primary clinic in Wenatchee; secondary in Leavenworth). Mary describes the ideal candidate (passionate about pediatric therapy and sensory processing, eager to learn, could be a new grad or an experienced clinician seeking higher-quality care), emphasizes the practice’s focus on high-quality, functional outcomes and family-involved therapy, highlights benefits of living in central Washington, and invites applicants to send a resume and cover letter to her email.
Aloha, everybody. I'm Mary Koska, owner and founder of Ohana OT. Our website is ohanaot.com and our Facebook page is Ohanapediatric Therapy. I'm just here to tell you a little bit about our position that we have open. We are really excited to be growing again and we are looking for that just right person to complete our team. So we are looking for a coda. Those are my dogs there, Bear and Sam. I'm in Washington state. I'm in Leavenworth, up above Leavenworth where my home is. And our clinic is in. Our primary clinic is in Wenatchee, Washington. We also have a secondary clinic, a smaller clinic up here in Leavenworth. And so we are looking for that just right cota to complete our team. And I've thought a lot about what that person would be like, what would be the perfect person for us. And that perfect person would be somebody who is very, very passionate about pediatric therapy. Very passionate about providing the highest quality therapy to children who are having problems with sensory processing. Person who's eager to learn, eager to learn more. I would imagine the perfect person might be somebody who's a new, new grad who's just ready to learn, learn, learn. Or maybe somebody who's been in their career a long time and is just tired of providing just mediocre therapy and is ready to see what's the very best therapy they could provide. None of us got into this profession to just kind of just do a so, so job. You know, I worked in the schools for 20 years before I opened my practice. And what drove me to open this practice is to be able to provide a much higher quality of care. And it blows my mind how much better it is than what I used to do. So to give you an idea, I don't know, I would say it's more than 10 times the quality. And we see kids and we graduate them. We actually really focus on functional goals and get them done and they meet them and graduate them on to having more success in their life. It's just amazing when you get to have the appropriate space to do your job, the appropriate equipment to do your job, the time, appropriate time to do quality therapy and to have the parents there as part of your team in every session so that you can train them and help them succeed at home in the schools. I just kind of felt like my hands were tied. I had two different special ed directors tell me that we don't have to provide the Cadillac, just, just the Volkswagen, just as long as they're making a little bit of progress and oh my gosh, that is not me at all. So I'm just really excited to help somebody learn and grow and, and be fulfilled in their career and live in a beautiful place. I moved to Washington state 30 years ago from Illinois. Actually I went to school in Kalamazoo, Michigan. So all Midwest. And Washington is just the most beautiful state ever. It has everything. It has ocean, it has mountains, it has rivers. If you're somebody who loves nature, this is the place for you. And where we are right in the middle of the state, you can have something completely different on a 2, 3 hour drive in any direction. So I mean we have, we have desert, we have like a petrified forest one direction, we have a rainforest another direction. You can go whale watching for the day to the Puget Sound. I mean it's just amazing. There's so much to do here. I love it. So I, I hope I'm speaking to somebody who's just ready for a really beautiful change in their life. And we're taking our time to find that right person. So we're really hoping to find that right person within the next few months. Send us your your give us call. Send us your resume cover letter. You can send it to Mary Koska. M A R Y K O s t k ahanacenter.com I'll put that address with this post as well. And looking forward to seeing who the next wonderful person on our team is going to be. Aloha.
