A low-pitch whistle from a sensory kit activates your vagus nerve through prolonged exhaling, slowing your heart rate and calming your nervous system. Blow it from either end for three or more breaths to shift out of stress mode, though skip it if you have auditory sensitivities.

Foreign. Here. And I'm going to tell you all about this very cool whistle that is in your kit and what it's for. So this, this whistle is not a super annoying one. It's not a high pitch you can blow just exhale, but you can also blow inhale and you can do it from either end. And the reason it's in the kit is because it facilitates a long exhale. And a long exhale, especially if it's at least three, is going to help calm the nervous system down. It's also provides a little bit of distraction. So if you, if you blow it first, it draws the attention out of themselves to the environment. So it's kind of like if you think like when you're in that stress place, you're kind of in your lizard more primitive brain and it's kind of like oh fly. Like it's pulling you out to the environment. So a little bit of fun noise. Obviously like if there's a super auditory sensitive child, then you wouldn't do it, but it works great for a lot of kids. And then, then when they do it, the longer they do it, the more they're going to calm down because that's going to activate the vagus nerve which is going to slower, slow down the heart rate and just calm the whole body. And the more that they do it, the, the better or in the longer they exhale, the better it will be. So this is just one more trick or tool in your tool bag.
