Yeah, were you hiding behind the tree?
No, I went to go look at my email. I got an email from my Airbnb host.
It was so suspicious, like, what's going on there? She got stalkers?
I had to go in this shade because I couldn't see.
What happened with your Airbnb?
Uh, there's just a couple, like, sink issues.
Okay, what? Sounds strange.
It, like, there's a leak.
Uh-huh.
And Peter's trying to set something up to go fix it.
All right, so you're just here on vacations?
Yeah, just here for a month.
Where are you from?
Canada.
Oh, I love Canada. It's my second favorite country in the world.
No way.
Yeah, which part of Canada?
Vancouver.
I love Vancouver. I live there. That's why it's my second favorite country.
Ah.
Yeah.
We're both from Vancouver.
You know what? When you move to a new place, like you move, you live in different places. I live nearby Robson, then I went all the way to 56th and Kerr, and then to 72nd and O close to the airport. Just madness.
Oh nice!
Yeah, but everybody that arrives there starts always in downtown, you know.
Oh yeah, you gotta test that out.
Yeah. Who you came with?
Just myself.
No way, really? Solo traveler?
Solo traveler, but yeah, I'm here quite a bit, so I—
Oh, it's not your first time?
No.
You're a regular customer then?
Like 15 times.
15 times?
Why don't you just move in and don't say it? I know, I know, I know, I probably should have.
What is so nice about Vancouver that you should not better live here than there. I mean, just go back in the summer. I know it's amazing.
I know. Yeah, I usually— I travel quite a bit too, so, but I always like come back here.
How come you travel so much? What's your profession?
I work remotely. I work from my computer, so I can just go and travel and work from wherever.
Right, but you're still working everywhere.
But still working.
Right, I know the feeling.
So you live here full time now?
Yeah, I came first time for 6 months and that turned into 14 years.
Oh wow.
I think that's almost everybody's stories, right?
Honestly, I've heard that so many times. I love it. They just never came back to the country, right? It happens.
And that hasn't inspired you?
I need to. I know, I keep telling myself. I have my mom's back in Vancouver. You just bring her. I told myself that too.
Or you don't have that power to convince somebody?
I probably could. Hello!
Means you haven't tried?
Uh, it'll take some— it'll take some time, but yeah.
I need to bring her down here first.
She hasn't been down here. Oh, she hasn't been here yet? No, like we've done— like I brought her down to like the like hotels area, like way over there, but she has never like stayed like—
You're such a good daughter.
I gotta ease her into it.
Right, so you're gonna be here for a whole month or is almost over?
I have 3 more weeks, so 3 more weeks, 1 week.
Okay, it's okay if I take you out there during these 3 weeks?
Uh, sure.
