Most small business owners are making this one common mistake when it comes to hiring. They're hiring, not recruiting. There's a big difference between the two. So hiring means I'm just posting a job and only getting the applicants that apply to that job. Recruiting means I'm proactively looking for people who might not be actively looking right now and finding those passive candidates where we most often find our rockstar performers. So how do we get more proactive in recruiting? Well, each time you're getting ready to post a job, make sure before you post it, you've got a clear employee persona for what the ideal person looks like. And if you don't know how to go through that exercise, you can find it on our YouTube channel. And then go ahead and make sure that you're looking for that person proactively on LinkedIn based on their industry experience, based on the company that they work at and the skills that they provide. And that will help you to be a better recruiter and not just hire only the people that apply.
