Eric McGlothen - Eric McGlothen, LLC Testimonial

Eric McGlothen, a CPA running an Atlanta firm for 22 years, switched from Intuit's payroll to an accountant-focused platform. Automated tax payments eliminated missed filings and penalties, while one staff member now handles payroll for many clients. Electronic W-2s and 1099s freed up billable time previously spent on client notices.

It's made for accountants, so I like that. That part is part of a community of folks that are accountants, so it seems like a platform that was specifically created for us versus other platforms may make it almost a side note. Eric McLaughlin, CPA, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Been around for about 22 years, and we provide accounting, tax, payroll services to clients, mainly service doctors and attorneys. We were using Intuit Payroll. We use the white-labeled platform. The other platform, we actually had to go in and initiate tax payments for our clients, and if we forgot to do that, then we were on the hook for penalties and interest. With this platform, all these things are initiated. The back office support, it allows me to have one person manage payroll for a multitude of, of clients. So that becomes very helpful. Obviously, the reporting platform is helpful to be able to have a system that puts out a report that provides the client with information they need to have regarding payroll. And even some of the, um, application or the, the ability for, uh, W-2s, 1099s, pay stubs, all to be accessed electronically are all very helpful, particularly in the age that we're in now. I mean, it's really going away where people are going to get stuff hard copy in the mail. Being able to get stuff electronically, to be able to access it at your fingertips when you want it, um, has been quite helpful. I think what caught my eye at the time was pricing and support, um, was really what stood out to me. My staff works with the support team more than I do, but it does seem that the staff, for the most part, seems to be pretty timely in their responses of handling matters that need to be handled. It's really the tax piece. The tax piece was the biggest headache for us using previous platforms, the ability to not know that the payroll taxes are paid. So to minimize clients like, hey, I got this notice, you know, can you handle this? I mean, that becomes the most annoying part of doing payroll because ideally payroll should be really seamless, really nothing to worry about, you know, as long as people get paid, there shouldn't be any issues. And so when you start getting these letters, that starts to eat into billable time because now I've got to jump and try to resolve this, this matter for them. And that just takes away resources and time and money from other things that need to be done. So that's probably really been the part that's made me happiest in terms of working with Kahoot. Um, I would say that definitely You should look at them. There's really not many providers out there that do it and can do it at this level with the platform and the automation that you all have and the support that you all have. So I would encourage definitely, you know, people to take a look at it. I mean, it's, it's, it's made for accountants. So I like that, that part is part of a community of folks that are accountants. So it seems like a platform that was specifically created for us versus Other platforms may make it almost a side note to say that, hey, if you want to run your own payrolls for your clients, you can, but really, this is really made to be a client-facing, client-serving platform. Those may not, you know, don't service us as well as, as Guru. So that's why.
