Four anonymous ERG Payroll & HR employees complain about a restrictive dress code, cramped office, and constant exposure to founder Matt Vaadi's jokes and repeated Oasis tracks. Vaadi responds that he started the company hoping to build an ideal workplace but admits it's fallen short, citing passive-aggressive staff behavior and specific annoyances like Amanda's smelly food and Jason's bathroom habits.
What do I hate about working for ERG?
Just really the dress code. Personally, in most places I worked allow me to wear sweatpants, hoodies, you know, I don't really have to shower if I don't want to. So it's kind of tough working here and having those expectations.
Everything. I hate everything about this.
Matt's jokes.
I do like working for ERG, except for the office. The office is kind of trash. It's small and cramped, and I got to deal with Matt all day.
And sometimes his music choices. He plays Oasis on a loop all the time.
Working at ERG is okay. You know, I started this company I had these really grand visions of starting the type of place that you want to work at, right? Because I wasn't happy at my old job and I thought this would be the ticket out, but it turns out it's a lot like that. I mean, most of the people here kind of give me passive-aggressive nonsense a lot of the time. Um, Amanda leaves stuff in the fridge all the time that stinks up the office. Uh, Jason does things in my office that I don't know if you do in the bathroom. And it's just, it's strange working here some days. People treat me very bad, but I don't really have any other options.
