Welcome to Love Life. I'm Matthew Hussey and I have an amazing show for you today.
But first, let me ask you, did.
You know that there are three female mindsets that drive men absolutely wild? Okay, you're right. Confidence is one, but can you guess the other two? I'll give you a minute to think about it and we'll come back to this at the end of the show. But first, let's get into today's episode.
I wanted to just tell you a story today. Some of you know, from my YouTube channel. I recently did a video where I answered some viewer questions. And one of the questions was, who are your idols? And I listed three. And one of those idols was a musician called Jamie Cullum and such an incredible artist and someone that I've really admired, not just in the sense of his music, but in terms of his liveability. I remember going to see him when I was about 17 after already having known him for four or five years and just being in awe of what he was able to create live the magic that he was able to create. And I was touched by it. And it inspired me, even though he's in a different field to me, it inspired me in my own live events to want to be better, to want to bring something amazing to the table. And he really killed himself on stage while. Well, he's been a hero of mine for a very long time. And very recently, by some stroke of crazy events, which I won't bore you with, I got a chance through a radio contact to meet his manager. And we're in New York and we have this breakfast where we talk all about my career and what I'm doing and the live tours that I'm doing and we talk about Jamie and his career and the live tours that he's doing. And. And then we get to the end of breakfast and he gets a phone call and he picks up the phone and he says, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll get you a coffee and I'll get you a bacon sandwich, no problem. And he puts down the phone and he orders a coffee and a sandwich to go. And he stands up and he says, matt, I've really got to go. He said, but it's been such a pleasure having breakfast with you. As we exit the building, there's this blacked out car waiting outside. He opens the door and inside in the backseat is Mr. Jamie Cullum, my hero. And he says to me, matt, why don't you meet Jamie real quick? He says, jamie, meet Matt. And Jamie shakes my hand and I Can honestly say to you listeners out there, this was the first time in a very long time that I have felt a sense of being starstruck. I've met some really famous people in the last couple of years, and yet this was the one that really got me the. Into the whole interaction to put things into perspective. Probably lasted about 10 seconds, right? It was nothing. But I walk away. They drive away, and I call a cab. I get in this taxi and it's taking me back to my. My apartment. And all of a sudden I feel myself getting emotional. And I'm one of those guys. I'm one of those people. I don't. I can't cry on demand. But when it hits me, it hits me out of nowhere. It really surprises me. And this shocked me. I suddenly started to well up. I could literally feel myself getting choked. And I thought to myself, why am I getting choked right now? I meet incredible people all the time. Why am I getting choked? And I realized that it. I'd allowed myself to just experience this moment of reality. Joy in having met someone that has really influenced me in my life. Someone who has meant so much to me in so many ways. And it took me back almost to an innocence, you know, to a rawness. I mean, firstly, I will say this. It. It reminded me that that part of me is still there. It was a nice feeling. It wasn't a bad feeling. I enjoyed the fact that I felt starstruck and that I was so inspired in that moment. And that was the second thing it did for me is it really reminded me of what. Of what inspired me in life. There are times in my career where I've lost connection with why I do what I do. Sometimes when you do something too much, you forget why you do it. And seeing him in that moment and that tiny little interaction reminded me of all of those moments that I saw him live and thought, this is someone I want to emulate this level of performance. Someone who has so much passion, so much love for what they do. I want to live by those values. And it reignited my passion for what I do. And also, you know, sometimes we. We don't realize the influence we have on other people as well. I mean, this was the third lesson I got from it is. I'm sure that he will never remember that interaction, but I will remember it for the rest of my life because it was such a special moment to me. It was so meaningful to me. I will never forget that moment. And it reminded me, you know, when I'm in a seminar and People come up to me at the end of a seminar and speak to me sometimes. You're meeting so many people, but that moment means so much to someone because it's, for some reason, special to them, and we always have to honor that. And, you know, there will be people that you can influence and touch in your life that you don't realize the level of influence that you have and how much meaning that moment has to them. But it has so much meaning. It's such a tremendous moment for them. And sometimes remembering that colors how we treat that interaction and how much we give to that moment as well. So, you know, guys, I just wanted to tell you that because it honestly was one of the most special moments in my life. It's given so much to me, and it reminded me of all the reasons that I love life and all of that childlike wonder that sometimes we forget about. And I hope that you get to experience some of those moments this year as well and give them to someone else, too, which is really important. So thank you, guys.
