Hello everyone, this is Love Life with Matthew Hussey. You know, we've all been hurt in relationships. If we're not careful, we can end up shutting ourselves off completely to protect ourselves from more pain. But that cheats us out of opportunities to find the love we really deserve. So what should we do instead? I want to come back to this at the end of the show, but first let's get into today's episode.
It is time to talk about annoying things that people say. One of the annoying things that people say is, Are you single or are you in a relationship? And you go, I'm single.
And they go, why?
Or, How come you're still single? Or, I just don't get why you're still single. And anytime someone says stuff like that, it's the least helpful thing anyone has ever said, ever. So, what do you do when someone asks you the question, why are you still single? First, let's go through some bad answers to this question that people give. First, well, I don't know. I mean, guys never approach me. In other words, no one really wants me. But if you do, then that would be great. Here's another one. Well, they just mineral pigs or mineral something, any type of generalization about men. Men are all something. All that says is, you're someone with this huge chip on your shoulder about the opposite sex. That doesn't help you. By the way, I know by this point you're wondering what you should say. Like, Matt, just give me the one thing I should say. I'm gonna get to it.
Don't worry, be patient.
Before I do that, let me give you a couple of the other terrible things that people say. Well, all the guys I meet are just losers. This is another one because what you're really saying is, I'm not meeting great people and I don't know where to find great people and I'm just hanging around with all these loser people. What does that make me? A loser by association. This is, that was one was really hard to say because there's someone in the same room who literally just said that before the show started. But I'm gonna carry on. The next one was, well, I just, I don't have time to date. That's terrible because all you're saying is, firstly, you're saying I'm a complete liar, right? Because guess what? Everyone has time to date if they meet someone they like. I just don't, I don't see the point. That's another thing people say. I just don't see the point. In other words, I'm so jaded. It's always makes me laugh when you see like a 28 year old woman who's just like, I just don't see the point. I'm like, you,'re 28. Like, this is, you are so much too young to be this jaded and disillusioned. I don't want to be around you for another second. The other one, people say, well, men don't want commitment. It's like guys just don't want to, they don't want to settle down, which makes you look deficient because, of course, many men have settled down, just not with you. And now that makes you look like the one with the problem, not men, so. Here's the good answer to that question. Firstly, it's fine to say, well, I just got out of a relationship. That's fine, except it's a really time sensitive excuse. All right, here's the best answer to this question. We've been building to it, ladies and gentlemen. Here it is. Get your notepads ready. You say, you know what? I'm happy being single or being in a relationship. And I'm happy to be in a relationship, but it has to be for someone really special. So when someone really special comes along, then absolutely I'm there. That's what you say. It shows that you're the type of person that's happy either way. You don't need to be in a relationship to be happy. And you don't need to be single because you're afraid of a relationship or you don't like men. What it shows is that you can be happy with both, but the person who's going to get you to be in a relationship is the one that convinces you to move away from your happy single life because of how great they That's it from me today. Good luck answering that question next time. You're going to be armed. You're going to know exactly what to do.
