Matthew Hussie here with Love Life. Have you ever wondered whether you should date more than one guy at a time? Every dating expert seems to have a different opinion on this. But what do guys really think about a woman who keeps her options open? Well I'll tell you how to get the answer at the end of the show. First let's get into today's episode.
Today we are answering a question which has come up. Someone wrote this into us which is how can you tell if a guy is going to propose? My girlfriend's boyfriend is going to propose any minute now, but we're trying to investigate as to when he's going to do it. Are there any tips or tricks or ways to figure out when it's coming? I all right, let me let's just start at the beginning of this one. why are you even trying to figure this out? Like, what is the point? This issue shouldn't even come up because trying to figure out things like this, it's not productive for anyone. It's certainly not productive for the friends who are trying to figure it out. It's definitely not productive for the woman who's trying to figure it out because it's her boyfriend. And it's really not productive for the guy who's trying to figure it out himself because now he has all of this pressure on him. I see this all the time. It's. I'm. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna say something a little. It's gonna sound a little sexist. I don't think it is. I think it's truth. I think women spend more time trying to figure out these things than guys do. Guys don't have quite the same mechanism. I know women who. Who will be in an office talking, and one of their friends will be going on. They'll find out that, oh, my guy is taking me to this amazing place, and it could be a holiday at the end of the year, and. their friends will go, oh, my God, he's going to propose. And you go, wait, why did you just say that? Who are you helping by saying that? Now, the woman who you've said it to has this. You've planted a seed in her mind. So what could have been just a great trip, a really fun trip now can only be a disappointment if he doesn't do it. And if he does do it, can only just equal the expectations she had anyway, which is a bummer for him because he's now in the position of either disappointing her with something he's actually put time into planning or proposing to her and it's like, oh, well, your friends all said it was gonna happen anyway, so it's not even a surprise. So it's not helping anyone. I would actually go as far as to say that planting those types of ideas in your friend's mind is really mean because she it's like you mess someone up before they've even started. By the way, if you have a friend that does this to you constantly and is always kind of foreseeing what's going to happen in your relationship, that friend is someone you have to be able to block out. Now, it may not mean getting rid of that person in your life, but what you have to do is when they start saying, oh, my God, I imagine he's gonna do this when he takes you out, ignore that friend. That person is not helping you. It's an arrogance to assume that someone knows enough about you, your relationship, and the guy that you're with to be able to make such assumptions. So be careful how you project to your friends and When you think something's coming in their relationship, let it happen. Don't try and force the issue because just everyone will end up feeling bad. So that's my answer to that question. I hope you enjoyed that rant. This is Matthew Hussey from Love Life.
