How to Research Cryptocurrencies with MarketBeat

Matthew Paulson (MarketBeat) demonstrates how to research and monitor cryptocurrencies using MarketBeat’s crypto section. He walks through the main listings (sorted by market cap), individual coin pages (launch date, coin vs token, blockchain, market cap, links to website/social/forums, exchanges and wallets via third-party sites), trend and traffic charts (Google search trends, website traffic, social activity via a Kraft partnership), interactive TradingView charts, an ICO listing page (whitepapers, videos, social links), an aggregated crypto news page (RSS aggregation), a portfolio monitoring tool (add holdings, view values and short-term performance), and the CryptoBeat daily newsletter for owned-coin updates. The presentation emphasizes practical research features (community ratings, headlines, exchange/wallet info) and warns ICOs are high-risk.

Hey everyone, Matthew Paulson here again with MarketBeat. I'm going to show you how to use MarketBeat to research cryptocurrencies. So this is our Main cryptocurrencies page, MarketBeat.com cryptocurrencies We've got a full list of every major cryptocurrency here, sorted by market cap. At the top, obviously there's like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Bitcoin, Cash. Eos is one that we've been hearing a lot about lately. Litecoin, Cardano, Stellar, all the way down the list. By default we show I think 250. So if you ever wanted to learn more about a coin, we'll say we'll pick out Stellar. That's one of my favorites right now. Have some different information about the coin. You can see when it was started. You can see it's a coin, it's not a token. That's on the Ethereum blockchain. You can see the market cap. You can access their website, their Twitter account, Facebook page, other community forums, their subreddit on Reddit. You can explore the blockchain and links to research it. On some other sites like CoinMarketCap and CryptoCompare and CoinGecko, you can see what exchanges you can buy or sell the coin on, instructions to buy it, how to get the wallet for Stellar, you don't want to keep it on an exchange. And then we've got community ratings where people can vote whether they like the coin or not. We also have some neat trends. So you can see if people are searching on Google for this coin. Typically, if lots of people are searching for it, that's a good sign, meaning there's interest in it and the price will go up. You can see how their website traffic has changed. Obviously that's going up and to the right. That means there's more interest in the coin. And you can see, thanks to a partnership we have with Kraft, you can see how they're. Social media activity has changed over time. This one, I think Black is the one for Stellar. That hasn't changed much recently on either Facebook or Twitter, which is not super surprising. They haven't had a ton of news lately. So if you just want to see are more people or less people interested in this stock over time, you can use these charts to do that. You can see different headlines. You want to keep track of your cryptocurrencies or read about them. You can do that and then you can. For a lot of cryptocurrencies we have charts again from tradingview you can use all the same tools that you have for MarketBeat, but you can say, I only want to break it down by a minute. You can say, I want to break it down by day. That's too far. Lots of good tools here to kind of do charting work on cryptocurrencies. We have also an ICO page. So if you're interested in initial coin offerings, obviously these are very risky and very high risk, high reward, if that's a game that you're interested in playing. We've got details about all the current ICOs here. You can click on, say, operty. I guess it's got a description for it, links to all their social pages, their white papers, all that stuff. Here's their YouTube video and their white paper. Get some basic information on ICOs there. So if you want to see active ICOs, you can do that. You just want to read all the crypto headlines from all three crypto sites. We've got a cryptocurrency news page. So we grab all of their RSS feeds and combine them, stick them on this page if you want just a page that you can bookmark to get all the cryptocurrency news, you can bookmark this page. We also have a portfolio monitoring tool for cryptocurrency. So if you're familiar with the app blockfolio, we've got something like that. Certainly it's probably more reliable than a blockfolio app, which has a tendency to crash. So here is all the coins that I owned at one point. I think I need to update this. I sold some of these. But we can say here I own our. I want to add a new cryptocurrency. We'll just pick one out. I don't even know what half these. Most of these are actually. We'll add or add Litecoin Ultra, whatever that is, and I'll say I own five of them. So we're going to add them. Then it will show up here. Litecoin Ultra is worth 2 cents, and it'll show my portfolio value is 9 cents. So it will add all your coins. You can type in your price, how many you own, and then it will show you your value, what the market cap of your coins is, what their volume is, and then how they're doing over the last hour, day, and then seven days. Cryptocurrencies move really fast. So instead of seven days, 30 days, 90 days, you might have for a stock cryptocurrencies, it's typically an hour a day and seven days, you can see headlines just for your cryptocurrencies, so only the coins that you own can get used for them. And then you can see mentions for your coins and stock twits so you can see what some of the chatter is. And then if you're subscribed to our Crypto Re newsletter, you can generate a fresh copy of your newsletter. And that takes a little while to load, so you probably won't wait for that to load. But a lot of people will use this in coordination with our cryptocurrency newsletter called CryptoBeat. If you want to subscribe to that, we'll basically just send you an email every day with the prices for the cryptocurrencies you own, and that delays cryptocurrencies news. So if you're interested in that, certainly check that out as well. We're kind of using the brand crypto beat for our cryptocurrency stuff. Someday we may develop this into a website, but right now it's just a section on MarketBeat. So if you want to research in cryptocurrencies and you like how we do our tools, these are certainly available for you as well.
