A short promotional monologue (YouTube video) by Matt Paulson describing the Sioux Falls fireworks event. The speaker recalls childhood memories, recounts stepping in during the 2020 pandemic to keep the annual fireworks from being canceled, thanks sponsors (notably MarketBeat and Car Swap) and volunteers, notes typical attendance (~10,000) and that the show runs about 20 minutes, and explains a nonprofit was established so funds are dedicated to the event. When I was like 10 or 11 years old, I remember going to the fireworks in my community and that was something I looked forward to every year growing up. And it was nowhere near as good as the fireworks we do in Sioux Falls, but it was cool to a 10 year old. So in 2020, when the pandemic hit and everything was being canceled, the Sioux Falls fireworks were one of the things on the chopping block. And when I found that out, I said, this can't go. I mean, we need this. This is something that's really important to me, to families, to kids, to everybody. When it was announced that the fireworks were done, I right away said, no, they're not. We'll do it. We're going to put on the fireworks. And so luckily in Sioux Falls, we've got some amazing sponsors that stepped up and have helped MarketBeat and Car Swap every year have helped with the fireworks and we got a bunch of other sponsors to help with other elements of the event. But we couldn't do it without the sponsors. Typically around 10,000 people join us at the fairgrounds. We spent quite a bit of time the day before and the day of getting things set up and ready for a 20 minute fireworks show. I'm excited that the fireworks are here and they're here to stay. We set up a non profit, so every year this is specifically what the funds go to is this event. But we also need people to help. There's so many other people involved, volunteers, sponsors, just a ton of people that help put this together and there's room for more. There are a lot of countries that have freedoms, but nobody that has freedoms quite like we have. I love this event because it's an opportunity for people to come out and celebrate our freedom with their friends, their family, their neighbors. Everybody come together about America and it's about freedom and we'd love to have people join us.
