The successful warrior is the average person with laser-like focus. Recently I met someone who is a master at the martial art. One of the coolest things I found was that During the training of martial art, they were taught to be alert and to be in control. They were trained to be free from distractions and inner noise. This is the core lesson for every single person who wants to be a warrior. If you have seen someone who is good at karate, martial art, boxing, or any other sports, one of the greatest skill they have is the art of being alert. In control, calm, and focused. But can we have that skill? Can we learn to be alert, in control, calm, and focused? Well, you know, when we sit down to work and when we want to get disciplined, we struggle to focus on the work often. We think, let's just do it, but you know, we lose focus and alertness. It's so hard to bring our focus and alertness back. Is there a way to increase focus immediately? Well, we wish we have a switch in our mind that instantly increases our focus and attention. And there is a way to do it. In this episode, you are going to learn how to increase your alertness and concentration dramatically and easily. This will help you to focus fully on what's happening outside you. I teach this exercise in my course on conversational hypnosis and neurolinguistic programming. Also, in my regular coaching practice, I teach people this technique because it helps people To be in the alertness and focus mindset immediately. The exercise is very powerful. You're going to learn the exercise called the heightened state of awareness. This exercise is done by ancient masters of martial arts. When you do this, you will notice that your senses are completely open and you will be aware of what's happening within and around you. You will be more still and calm with a sudden increase in your concentration on things in front of you. By doing this exercise, your key senses— visual, auditory, kinesthetic— will be open. You will see many things that you never noticed before, but you will not be distracted. You will hear many voices around you that you never paid attention, but you will still be under control and calm. You will pay attention to your body. I am going to share audio here, and you need to understand the steps of doing this exercise on your own. Initially, you may need to listen to this audio three to four times in order to understand. And that's completely fine. You will be able to do easily after few efforts. So listen to this audio few times and understand the complete process. Here's a word of caution: do not listen to this audio whilst driving or operating any kind of machinery. Only listen when you safely relax comfortably. So, as you are ready to learn this heightened state of awareness exercise now, just sit somewhere comfortable, or better still, stand up. And I would like you to just focus all of your attention on a point somewhere above your eye level. Maybe where the ceiling and the wall meet, or a corner of the room. And I want you to find a specific point that you can focus all of your attention on. So you are beginning to feel all your focus narrowing down like a tunnel vision on this very specific point. Focus every ounce of your concentration now. Try and make out every little bit of detail what you can get a hold of. Now you will realize as you are doing this that it actually takes a lot of strain and effort to do this. So when you are ready, just allow your eyes to relax. Keep looking at that point, but your eyes will begin to soften. And as they relax the muscles in their eyes, you will notice that your vision tends to expand. You can see more of the room that you are in, maybe the ceiling, maybe the walls, the corners of the room, the color of the carpet, or whatever the floor is made of. And this Just keep your eyes right at that spot but expand your vision. And as you continue to relax with your eyes open, you will notice that your vision tends to expand all the way around you. Allow it to expand so that you can almost get a sense of knowing what it would be like to see through the eyes in the back of your head. Notice at some point your breathing just relaxes even more whilst your vision expands and you are totally aware of the outside world. As soon as your breathing becomes automatic and calm and relaxed, you can bring your eyes down to normal eye level only as slowly as you maintain this heightened state of awareness, seeing everything around you. Now, as you are doing this, I would like you to go ahead and pay attention to your ears. Now, your ears are like a sonar device, and I would like you to pay attention to all the little sounds that you can hear. First will be the sound of my voice. Perhaps you can hear some background noises in the house. Or outside in the streets, or in the garden outside where you are right now. Begin to expand your hearing so that the more you hear, the more you become aware of your own sight and vision. Vision and hearing blending together. That's right. And now turn your attention towards your face. Feelings. Notice every single movement inside your body. Notice that one of your hands is slightly warmer or heavier than the another one. Find out which one. Maybe your neck is a bit tense, and your legs might be lighter than your body. Pay attention to every single muscle movement in your body. Maybe you can feel which muscle is tense and which muscle is relaxed. Now allow all of your attention to focus on the 3 senses at the same time. So you see everything around you, and as you see it, you get a sense of what it would feel like to touch it. And at the same time, you are hearing the sounds, and all these sensations blending into one. You are totally connected to everything around you. If there are people in the room, you can be connected to them also. A sense of total awareness, calm awareness. Relaxed awareness. You're completely focused because you can see everything around you, hear every single voice around you. You can feel every single sensation in your body. Which muscle is relaxed? Which muscle is tense? You find out. In time, the thoughts inside your mind will stop altogether. For now, just enjoy this state and know that you can come back to this at any time that you wish to. This state is also a state of heightened awareness. I hope you enjoyed this. People have noticed a dramatic change after doing this exercise. Do the exercise as often as you can. It's a really powerful exercise. Now, where should you use, right? When you should do this exercise? Well, you can do the exercise before you go for a meeting or a business deal, even dating, even you want to learn something. This exercise can put you into very calm and control and, you know, focused mindset. You will be able to pay attention to everything people say around you and what they say, and you will also pay a minute difference in others' body language too.
