In this monologue, Meg, co‑founder and bench jeweler of Good Kitty, walks through the creation of the Overnighter pendant—a discreet, 24‑karat‑gold‑plated stainless‑steel pill stash designed for sexual‑wellness and UTI prevention. She describes the sustainability‑driven origins of the product line, the iterative R&D process that reduced the capacity from a three‑pill prototype (initially oversized) to a sleek two‑pill design, and the material choices that balance durability with elegance. Meg also details the development of an exclusive antique‑style chain in partnership with jeweler Mabel Chong, explaining the optional nature of the chain and the decision to include the pendant for free in a starter kit, allowing women to choose how they wear or carry it. Throughout, she emphasizes female empowerment, collaboration with other women creators, and the brand’s commitment to sustainable, user‑centric design.

My name is Meg and I'm one of the founders of Good Kitty. And it's end of day, but I'm pretty excited to talk to you about the, um, our pendant, the Overnighter. I'm only because I figured out what to do with the chain. So when we created this company, um, we wanted sustainability was a huge thing, um, our huge platform for us. So we had the canister, which was this refillable gorgeous jewel that you put anywhere you want to put it. And I wanted to have a complementary piece to go with the canister. So while I was working down on my bench— I am also a trained bench jeweler— I was playing with this, um, with obviously vitamin C pills because we hadn't created the formulation yet. Um, this, like, my brass piece is downstairs, so it's kind of like, okay, do I do it here? Am I mentally here? Is it, you know, messing around with it and like figuring out, okay, let's do obviously a pill stash, but like, okay, why am I overthinking it? Let's just do a standardized like pill stash. And we got to— originally it was going to be 3 pills, and so I sent— I went, I used my calipers and I was like, I sent him the actual dimensions of what we're going to be using for double zero pills and over to, um, my fabricator, and he sends me back this giant— this giant guy I mean, it's essentially like, it's like the size of a cigar. And I mean, all right, so I'm like, all right, Amir, like, all right. So, which was great to see 3 pills. First of all, way too, way too— the diameter was first of all way too big. So I ended up having to send him the pills because, uh, we just were in disconnect on millimeters. And so it actually worked out because seeing this obviously R&D is huge because there are going to be several iterations. But to know that 3 pills are going to be too much, obviously, just to wear this around the neck, it's like, it starts to— it's just too big. So we ended up reducing it to 2 pills, which I love. This is just— I mean, we almost— we got— we almost knocked it out of the park by game— the second time, the pills, it didn't fit. This is our third iteration. Which turned out gorgeous. I loved it. You can see— do I have the pills in there? Oh yes, 2 pills fit gorgeous. I love this. And what I loved the idea about having this little pendant on women is that it's like a little weapon, a little sexual wellness weapon. It's discreet, it's beautiful, it's 24-karat gold plated in stainless steel. And you never are without your sexual wellness weapon. It's got your— you got your pills. If you're out on a date and you are staying out overnight, potentially, you are not without your pill protection. You will not get a UTI. This is something that is going to protect you. I love that for us. I also love the fact that we can be— this is something that we're keeping our sexual wellness on display, both with the canister and this beautiful little piece of jewelry. Next, I was like, okay, so the next, like, thing that I'm, like, racking my brain around is like, okay, so how— what am I going to use? What's my— what's the chain going to be? So I was playing around. Is it mixed metals? Is it gonna be pearls? Do I use an antique sort of chain? I kind of like— I only sell antique chains. Am I using a box chain? Is it a snake chain? And finally I was thinking, I went into my, my jewelry box and I was like, oh yes. So years ago I had made this chain with this woman named Mabel Chong and we had, we'd fabric, we had created this chain together. We designed it and created this chain together for my timepiece, if you will. I use it for when I wear suits. Well, anyways, so that being said, How awesome is this? So you would actually clasp it with the lobster clasp on the, um, on the O-ring. And check this out, look how awesome that looks. This like very, very like very delicate chain next to this very modern looking piece. I love this. How awesome is this? And the fact that you're gonna be able to wear this out and like be out on the town being like, oh, What's up, girl? That said, we're not going to be selling it. And so Mabel— I called up Mabel, I'm like, hey girl, let's do this chain. Would you do this exclusive chain for Good Kitty? And she's like, yeah, let's go. And so we're gonna be offering this chain, um, 36-inch and 24-inch, but we're not going to force people into a chain. So we're going to be giving this, um, the pendant out free in a starter kit. And then women can make that decision to buy the chain or not. And because, I mean, maybe people don't want to wear the chain around their neck. Maybe they want to put it in the purse. Maybe they want to put it on a keychain. Maybe they want to put in their pocket. Whatever you want to do. I don't want to force women. You, you do you, right? That's kind of how I feel about all the things. Where do you want to put your canister? Do you want to put on your nightstand? Great. Do you want to put on the shelf in the bathroom? Awesome. Do you want to put it right there in the living room? I think that's a great idea. Anyways, that is huge for, for, um, besides sustainability, is working and collaborating with other female artists and brands. So just a little behind the scenes to talk about Good Kitty and the Overnighter. All right, thanks a lot, see you soon.
