Mel Abraham says money alone won't keep you motivated. Tie your wealth goals to a bigger vision: the relationships, health, and life you actually want. When your finances serve that purpose instead of chasing a number, both your money and your life improve together.

How do you stay motivated long-term? Because if building wealth is a long-term vision, if investing is a long-term game, how do you stay motivated? Well, here's how I do it with my clients and with myself is I don't believe that you ever talk about money without attaching it to life. In fact, my book, the first part of the book is about life. The middle of the book is all about the financial stuff. And the, the last part of the book is about life again. I think that you start with the vision you want for your life. What does it mean? What do you want? Relationships, health, all that stuff. And then you let that vision for life, the why, the purpose, drive the decisions around the money and not the other way around. Too often we're chasing a number and not chasing a purpose. When you chase a purpose, when you give your money a higher purpose, your life rises to a higher purpose. That is how you stay long-term.
