Michael Mashkevich describes waking up after surgery with no feeling or control in his arm, then uses that physical disconnection as a way to talk about emotional numbness. He invites viewers to share their own experiences of feeling disconnected from their bodies or themselves.

I could see my arm after surgery, but I couldn't feel it. I couldn't move it. It was mine and it wasn't. The anesthesia made it feel like dead weight, and I remember trying to move it and nothing happened. That feeling stayed with me because it made me realize something. A lot of people are living disconnected from themselves, and eventually life starts feeling like something you're carrying instead of something you're living. My arm eventually did wake up, but I think a lot of people never fully wake up emotionally. And sometimes the hardest part of healing is admitting you've been numb. If that's you right now, tell me your story in the comments below. I really do wanna hear it.
