Lighter, stronger, faster. This is the motto of the McLaren 720s. At 3236 pounds, it's lighter than the Ferrari 48. And with 710 horsepower, it's got more oomph than a Lamborghini Aventador. Plus, it's faster than any factory car we tested. You've probably already seen it in action on last week's episode where we raced it against the Aventador svj. But the real question for me is just how does it stack up on our 600, 130 list? Keep in mind that this car is also the Spider. So it's about 100 pounds heavier than the coupe. That just means it'll be a tad slower, but I'm not complaining. So let's run it down the drag strip a few times to see what kind of acceleration numbers we can get. Sam. Okay, so we know that the 720s is fast. There's no doubt about it. At 1600ft above sea level, we ran a best quarter mile time of 10.4 at just over 140 miles per hour. And in better conditions, it's easily a low 10 second car. But for our purposes, let's take a look at those rolling times. Here's the 40 to 103.65 seconds. That's. That's just brutally fast. It's hard to even quantify that number. I mean, it's about a full second faster than the C7Z06, depending on which gearbox you go for. And nothing else on the list is even remotely close. But here's the real kicker. The 720s did 60, 130 and 5.93. 5.93. That's insane. Up until now, my Z06 has been the fastest car on this list. But honestly, that's only because I've been playing the big fish in a small pond. The 720s is more like a shark in a swimming pool. I don't know if there's going to be a car anytime soon that's going to be able to knock it off its throne. And supposedly it should be pretty easy to mod, too. A tune alone would get you close to 900 horsepower, which word on the street is enough to take down pretty much anything you'll run into. Anyway, enough of me babbling. Next week, I'm gonna run the numbers on the Aventador svj. But if you haven't already seen that race, I'm not gonna spoil it for you. You should go watch that first. If this is your first time on the channel. Be sure to watch some of my other stuff. I produce cinematic content for all sorts of performance cars, so if that's your jam, consider subscribing and ringing that bell icon for new episodes every Thursday. Thanks for watching.
