Sam. So last week we took a quick look at how crazy fast the new Tesla Plaid was. We also watched it beat down its previous flagship, the P100D. But on this episode we're going to see how it performs against, you know, your typical Italian supercar. Let's take a look. This is the 2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a 759 horsepower fire breathing V12 Dragon that costs well over a half a million US dollars. Even though it's a bit long in the tooth and the single clutch gearbox is slow as balls, it's still a beautiful looking piece of machinery. Definitely extremely outlandish, but also extremely gorgeous at the same time. And while some may call this noise pollution here we call it art. But here's the polar opposite of the Lambo. The Tesla Model S, Plaid, four doors, mildly conservative looking and powered by a magical force called electricity. It costs roughly a fourth of the price, makes no noises, has no gear ratios and can also drive itself. But everyone and their mothers has one that looks something like this. So you don't really feel special after spending double the average annual household income on one. But I'm still glad that someone is pushing the envelope here. EV tech is inevitable and Tesla's are definitely democratizing it. And who knows, by this time next year I might even be shopping for our first electric car. In terms of performance, we already know its basic capabilities from all the various press sources. 1 second 0, 69 second quarter miles. But what about the half mile? Well, we pegged it at over 165 and that to me is the ultimate test of a car's raw power. Anyway, it's time to get on out there to see how these two cars match up. As per usual, we'll be doing two rolls and a dig down our half mile Runway. Without further ado, let's get this party. It's sam. Granted, this wasn't exactly the race I originally intended to do. We were supposed to get a Ferrari F8 tributal to race against the Plateau, which would have been a much closer matchup. But the SVJ is still a quick car. It's arguably Lamborghini's quickest production car as of right now. It was also a little bit unfair because the Lambo had a passenger in it and it couldn't go into coarser mode for the launch from a dig because it was still being broken in. Then again, the plaid had around 50% battery life as well. Anyway, let's quickly take a look at the numbers that we got from the runs for this one, we'll only reference the 60130 since that's the best way to judge what happened. For the Tesla, we got an average time of 5.32 seconds, which is slower than what we tested it at, 60%. And that echoes my power drain theory at about 0.2 seconds of performance lost per every test, 10% drained. Now the SVJ ran a disappointing 7.59, which is a full second slower than when we tested it originally. But I think that being brand new, still being broken in, having a passenger and short shifting might have had an effect on that. But even if it ran the mid 6 second time it's capable of, it still would have been walked by the Tesla. So yeah, we're not really learning anything new here. Plaid destroys supercars four times the price all day long, even past a quarter mile now, which used to be Tesla's Achilles heel. Not anymore. Anyway, if you haven't seen the Solo Plaid acceleration test where we also race it against a fully charged P100D, check that out too. That's gonna do it for me on this episode, and as always, I'll catch you guys on the next one. I hope you guys enjoyed this video. If so, it would really help out if you hit that like button and share the video with your friends. I want to hear what you guys think about the plaid, so leave something for me in the comments below. I got very little seat time with the car since it was a last minute surprise, so I'd love to revisit it for a full review if someone in the area has one. Since we're a mom and pop kind of shop, we rely on all you guys to help keep it going.
