700HP BMW X3 M Competition vs. Tuned Alfa Stelvio Quadrifoglio, G80 M3 Comp, and BMW M4 Roll Race

Michael Chuang takes a tuned 700hp BMW X3M Competition to Pocono Raceway for roll races against an Alfa Stelvio Quadrifoglio, F82 M4, and G80 M3 Competition. The X3M hits 0-60 in 4.76 seconds and 60-130 in 7.99 seconds with custom E70 tune and downpipes.

Sam, The G80, X M3s and M4s are definitely all the crazy right now, and rightfully so. They're fun as hell to drive. And let's not Forget about the LCI X3 and X4M's as well, because I'm really digging that facelift. But what about the car that first came out with that cool guy S58? Well, today we're back at Race Moto's roll racing event at Pocono Raceway with that red X3M that ran neck and neck with an AMG GTR a little while back to see how it fare against a different variety of very fast cars. Let's get reacquainted. This is a 2020 BMW X3M competition in many ways. It was already a very impressive specimen in stock form. But as with anything BMW, it's hard to stay stock. This particular car now has a custom E70 tune and downpipes. And what that means is that it probably makes close to 700 brake horsepower. Don't quote me on that. We don't care very much for dyno numbers on this channel because they mean very little against real world times. When we first tested it, it was more conservative and put down mid 8 second, 130s. I'm sure it's faster now, and we're definitely going to upset some folks here. Anyway, let's see what this M3 in a box sounds like. First things first, though, we got to do some baseline acceleration runs to see what the 40, 160 to 130 times are. That way we can figure out what's a good match for this thing. It's been a while since I drove an X3M, so it's pretty hard for me to remember what it feels like. But the steering does feel a lot tighter than our X6, for sure. Let me close this window. It's a little absurd. I mean, there's no suspension mods to this thing, so it doesn't really handle anything different than a standard stock one. Let's see how it comes through this. Yeah, feels very planted. I'd like to see this go through the handling course at some point. It would be pretty fun. This thing is super stealth, though. Like, I feel like if I rolled into a parking lot, nobody would know what this thing has and I would just walk away from every single car. But I mean, this here at Pocono Raceway at Race Moto, things are a little bit different because everybody here is like a 4 second car. So I think we're just Gonna get our asses kicked down. Should feel good. But that's probably. Well, no, it was good stock. That's just accentuated more by the tune, I suppose. But we're gonna tell people that this thing has a secret sauce. E69.5 tuner. Yeah, we'll check it out. We'll see how, how this thing performs before we get it out there to race. So let's do like a little 30 pull and then all the way out to 140 or 150 if we can hit. So our first competitor is going to be one of the best alternatives to an X3M in both speed and style. This is an Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, but of course, since it's here, it's definitely not stock. This one has a tune and downpipes, which I'm only going to assume puts down a little more than 600 brake horsepower. That's less power than our X3M, but it's also 300 pounds lighter, which is a lot in this segment. Let's see how it does. That was a little too easy. So let's move on to an F82 M4 with a Bootma tune and downpipes on 93 octane. It probably makes around the same power as the Alpha we just raced, but It's a good 800 pounds lighter and definitely more aerodynamic. That should hopefully make things a little bit more interesting here. Let's do it. Last, but certainly not least is that green G80 M3 comp we raced last time we were here with the FBO Supra. We lost pretty badly because remember, it's secretly on JV4 map 2 with downpipes. So I'm pegging it as a low 8 second 6130 car with 630 brake horsepower. Let's see if a dedicated tune with some E can beat its lighter and more slippery cousin. If you've ever been to Pocono Raceway, you know that the weather here is unpredictable. Just when we thought the rain was clearing up, it started to come down pretty hard again. So unfortunately, we had to pack it up early for the day. But before we go, let's briefly take a look at the times we got out of this super fast SUV. We'll start with our in house 4100, where the X3M pulled off an impressive 4.76 seconds. I'm reckoning that the all wheel drive really helps to put all that power down. And it's almost two seconds faster than the slowest trim of a stock version of this car. Not to mention that it's faster than the now irrelevant P100D. Take that Tesla. The 60130 range is what really matters to us at these kind of races, and the tuned X3M did that in 7.99 seconds based on the 40100 times. It should have been a little faster here, but remember, being an SUV and having a sluggish drag coefficient is going to really do a number on the top end acceleration. Still, seven seconds for a luxury truck that just has a tune in downpipes is absurd. For my metric friends though, 100 to 200 kmh happened in 6.82 in that smack dab in classic supercar territory. I'd imagine that a lot of cars, especially them Hellcats, would be surprised when they see this family friendly grocery getter walk away from them in a 60 roll. Anyway, to see more times and metrics from cars that we've tested, check out the fastest link in the description below. I guess that the variety here today was a little bit more BMW than anything else. A bit disappointing because I was hoping to put it up against some Z06s or Hellcats or maybe even a tuned Urus. But hey, Mother Nature had other plans for us so the S58 with E is really impressive. I kind of knew that from the get go. However, the one caveat with something like a high ethanol content tune is that you have to be really mindful of your mixture. It's not like pop 93 where you can just dump fuel in it and think all is good. There's a little bit more math and planning involved at every Filipino and it's definitely a slight pain in the ass if you drive a lot, but I think the gains are worth it for the straight line power. Anyway, that's gonna do it for me on this one. Next episode I'm gonna have something a little bit different for you guys, so stay tuned for that. Catch you all soon.
