Audi R8 V10 Plus vs. Lamborghini Huracan Roll Race | Textbook Definition of a Driver's Race

Michael Chuang races an Audi R8 V10 Plus against a Lamborghini Huracan at Pocono Raceway. Both share the same 602 hp V10 engine and AWD setup, but the R8 is 200 pounds heavier. In roll races, the Huracan hit 8.41 seconds while the R8 ran 8.62 seconds, though density altitude corrections favor the Audi.

It's a beautiful Sunday morning and we're here again at Pocono Raceway, courtesy of the fine folks at Slipstream Racing, where we're gonna find out which of these two cars is quicker, the Lamborghini Huracan or the Audi R8 V10. Plus. The casual bystander may pick the Lambo simply because it's more aggressive looking, fancier sounding and more expensive. But let's not forget that these two cars are basically the same thing. Same mid engine layout, same all wheel drive system, same seven speed dual clutch gearbox, and same naturally aspirated V10 making 602 brake horsepower. The Dr.8 is just slightly heavier at around 3,600 pounds, but it makes up for that with one extra foot pound of torque and more aggressive gearing. So let's do our usual thing and get some 50 rolls in on that front straightaway. It's. It's. Yeah, that was a little bit too close for comfort, I'll admit. Didn't have my coffee that morning, so I might have been a bit off my game. But I did get my shit together on that third run and that's about as clean as a race could be. See, I get a lot of R8v10 plus owners telling me about how their cars are faster than stock Huracans. But. But I don't know, after seeing these races, not so sure anymore. The truth is, this is the textbook definition of a driver's race. Even though the huracan weighs about 200 pounds less, the more aggressive gearing on the R8 really might have given it a fighting chance. Could have gone out of the way. Looking at the uncorrected acceleration times, the Audi R8 V10 put down a pretty respectable 61.30 of 8.62 seconds. And that's in manual mode. For reference, the Lambo did it in 8.41, also in manual mode. At the time of the race, the DA was just over 4,500ft above sea level. So that corrects the R8 down to 8.14 seconds on our fast list. That's not bad. And honestly, I think it might have been a little bit faster if we let the computer shift. But we only have these times. Anyway, thanks to John Dong for hooking me up with this Huracan. This video wouldn't have been possible without him. So thanks, buddy. First time on the channel.
