Track Day Two Year Channel Update

Sam thanks viewers for growing Track Day to over 60,000 subscribers in two years and outlines year three plans: more Lotus track time, frequent casual episodes, building a course on a local airstrip for consistent time-attack runs, and new gear including Fujifilm cameras and timing hardware. Sam. Well, it's been a whole two years, and you know, that's kind of a long time. Some of you guys have been here since the beginning, since that first Z06 episode where I had no idea how to talk to a camera. And, you know, I'm still kind of learning. Most of you probably came here somewhere along the way. Or maybe you just watched one of those race episodes recently and you're like, hey, this guy's okay. Let me sub to him and see what other cool stuff he can do. It doesn't really matter when you guys decided to join me on this crazy ride, because I just want to thank all of you just for being here. Gaining over 60,000 subs in the past two years. I couldn't have done it without all the likes, the shares, the comments, and all the support. This is going to sound a little cheesy, but we're all just kind of like raindrops in a body of water, right? Well, if you put enough drops in, eventually you get an ocean. Right now I kind of feel like a little pond on the side of the road, but hopefully one day we can grow this channel into an ocean. Anyway, enough of this Confucius nonsense. Let me finish this cup of coffee and then we can talk about what's to come for year three of Track Day. For starters, I would like to drive my Lotus more often. I'm in love with that thing. I was supposed to do a bunch of track days with it this season, but it's been a busy year with the channel. But hey, at least I got one in the books, right? And now I've got all winter to buy parts to get it ready for next season. Anyway, beyond that, I've got some new cameras. For the past two years, I've been shooting on old GoPros, a Panasonic GH4 and a GH5S. Good cameras, and they've served me well. But since this channel's growing, I think my gear should grow too. Now I'm shooting on some fresh new Fujis and a couple GoPro 9s. I've always heard good things about them, so I'm excited to see what I can do. For any filmmakers that follow me, you know that I love shooting anamorphic. I shot anamorphic a lot during my career and I've been itching to do it more. So hopefully that means I can start uploading in 5k as well. Another thing I want to start doing is more Monday episodes at least once a month if I can. And I'll be calling Them mundane Mondays where I can spend more time casually testing slower cars that aren't necessarily as sporty or exciting. Lambos and McLarens are fun and all, but sometimes you gotta give the little guy a shot, right? So right now on track day, we do mostly real world acceleration tests with our reviews. And that's great, I know a lot of you guys enjoy that, but I've always wanted to incorporate actual track testing, hence the channel name. But it's honestly kind of hard to get a local track to sponsor a small channel like us. And when I do performance reviews, I want to use the same course for lap times because, you know, consistency. But it'll be hard when you rely solely on open track events. So instead of going down that route, we're going to try to set up our own little course on the airstrip that we've been using and do some time attack testing there. Not exactly Laguna Seca, but at least we'll have something consistent. We also got some cool new tours to do all our performance testing with that brand new VBOX touch and the more wallet friendly racebox. Oh, did I mention that we got some slick new plates to go along with those beauty shots. Lastly, I'm almost done with that fastless app. I know I've been talking about it for a while, but I should hopefully have it done by the end of the year. And when it's done, I can upload new data directly to that platform and you can view it easily on your phone or tablet whenever you want to check out times on cars you're interested in. Or if you want to scope something out for a race, it'll come out on Android first, just because it's cheaper. And then I'll put it on iOS if everything is groovy. Keep an eye on that and I'll let you know when it's done. So track day has definitely come a long way and there's still a lot more that I want to do. Hopefully year three is going to be a good one for us. And you know, it'd be nice if we can hit 100,000 subs sometime in 2021. See, I don't do this channel for the same reasons that Most people do YouTube. I just do it because I love cars and I'm really passionate about the cinematography behind it all. You know, I used to hate being from the camera and I still do, but I've been doing it so much lately that I'm kind of just used to it now. It's all just a necessary evil for the algorithm and consistent uploads. Bottom line is, as this channel grows, I'm trying to push the content further and further, so hopefully that reflects on all the future episodes. Anyway, just wanted to give you guys a, you know, update on everything that's going on here. Once again, thanks for all your support, and as always, I'll catch y' all in the next one. Hey, I know this is a channel update, but if this is your first time here, make sure you check out some of my other stuff. I do all sorts of cinematic car content, so if you like what you see, hit that subscribe button and you'll see new episodes from me every week.
