He stresses the client should proactively confirm metric definitions and data-collection methods during scoping and kickoff rather than assuming auditors or vendors will infer them, because analyses must be performed against the contracted metric.

The key is when you get into this data collection and data analysis and validation phase is making sure that the vendor understands that your contract is based on that old metric and the way that they need to collect the data and review the data is based on the old metrics. It's not based on whatever it is currently. I think what you do is the same. I think that the onus becomes on you a little bit more. I would not sit back and wait for the auditor to come in and collect data, do an analysis and then go back and say, oh, by the way, we're running on an old metric. Don't assume that they know that and make sure that you know, that's talked about in the scoping and kickoff. Make sure that you talk about. Well, because of this, you know, you need to make sure that you're collecting data based on this metric and that you're now analyzing it based on that metric.
