From Las Vegas at KyribaLive: Why I’m Not a “Ghost” Recruiter in Treasury

Recruiter Mike Richards runs a podcast, salary survey, and live events across London, Amsterdam, and Dublin instead of passively waiting for job openings. He travels to meet treasury professionals in person, like the 1,000 at KyribaLive in Las Vegas, to build trust and share market insight on challenges like AI.

This is my weekly video, so don't call the Ghostbusters. I'm recording this week's video from Las Vegas. As you can see, pretty amazing. Yeah, bit crazy. Sorry about background music. I've come here, Caribe Alive, surrounded by Treasury professionals having the exact same conversations I'm having about in this week's newsletter. We had a pack call in from the AFP, and he asked me, he said, are you actually a recruiter? I was like, yes, Pat, that's what I do. But he said, you do so much more. You do your podcast, you do your salary survey. And I said, yeah, I do all this stuff basically to help treasury professionals. We do our live events. It's just, it's amazing. And actually, I've come all the way out here to Vegas to meet 1,000 treasury professionals. Karim, so thank you very much, Karim. It was amazing because I'm different to the others. I'm not sitting behind a desk waiting for jobs to come in. That's what they call the Ghostbusters approach. Hello, 'Got any jobs?' So no, if you do that, call me. But if you've got jobs, call me. But there's no insight, no advice, no value. You're not meeting all your clients. That's what most treasury professionals— you want to move every 3 to 5 years. So if you hear from a recruiter, let's say some of my competitors, once every 3 to 5 years, then what have they been doing in between? Have they been adding value? So that's why we've got this ecosystem, if you like. This is it in action. I'm here. It's been a tiring couple of weeks. I did Texas a couple of weeks ago, doing Caribe Live this week. What's changing? What's challenging people? I did a panel, it was amazing. I would say, look, AI is coming along, but what you guys, how do you hear through the noise? And that's what, so I'm not guessing about it. I know what the market is telling me because I'm there with the market. So live events like this and our smaller roundtables, we've got our London event coming up, which is going to be amazing. We've got Amsterdam, we've got Dublin. Not just filling jobs. I'm a recruiter first and foremost. Zé de pat, thanks for that. But I think you've got to earn your way there by having the conversations, by actually helping the treasury professionals. And that's why we're doing it. And that's why I'm here in Las Vegas, as you see, doing exactly, walking the walk, doing it exactly what it says on the tin. So if you ever wonder what it looks like in reality, this is it. I have to get on a plane, go like 12, 12 hours, but then I'm at 1000 Treasure Professionals. So yeah, I'm pretty happy. Thanks very much, guys.
