This is a YouTube video titled "How Do We Perceive the Role of Women in Treasury?" featuring Mike Richards from a treasury recruitment company, recorded in November 2020. Mike Richards discusses his perspective on the role of women in treasury and corporate treasury, emphasizing merit-based recruitment without discrimination and highlighting the presence of women in his own recruitment team.
Foreign Richards here from the treasury recruitment company. So, how do I perceive the role of women in Treasury? It's an interesting one, actually. I often get asked by a variety of publications if I would comment on the role of women in treasury and corporate Treasury. A lot of the time I say no comment. And whilst I love the publicity, I don't really have a comment on it. People say, well, surely you're pro women. I'm like, yeah, of course I'm. I'm married to one, I've got two daughters, I've also got two sons. And I think women growing their careers within treasury is a brilliant step forward and I applaud it. But as a recruiter, I try not to discriminate. My job is simply to find the best treasury professional to fill your role. If there happen to be a man, a woman or from a minority of society, then so be it. I know that there's been a push to get more board members as women, which I applaud, but to me, my job is simply to find you the best treasury professional I can, who is looking at the time to fill your role now. Also looking back, though, at a couple of my clients, one in particular who sticks to them, she recruited an entire team of ladies, which was fantastic, but they were the best treasury professionals. It wasn't because they were women or ladies, whatever, that they. They were the best people for the job. And that's all that matters. 75% of my recruitment team at the treasury recruitment company are women. Now, I'm sorry if I've got that wrong and please tell me if there is a better way of doing things and I'll support it or try to do things a different way, but please let me know what you all think. Many thanks.
